Dear Saints:

_____

With grateful heart to my dear Lord
For blessings old and new,
I write again in Jesus’ name
A testimony true.

Five years have passed since that blest day
When to my heart was given
Such light and joy, such peace and rest,
I know it came from heaven.

Transported as to worlds above
My soul in visions rose,
My precious Lord to me appeared
Most glorious to behold.

His ransomed child He deigned to bless,
Assurance sweet He gave,

Though darkness vailed my eyes without,
Within ’twa? light and love.

As one by one the years pass by,
That light of life is mine;
By faith I follow on to know
The mysteries divine.

The Savior’s footsteps, blessed, path,
O may I ever tread;
And every whisper of His voice
My waiting soul give heed.

Till all my pilgrim race is run,
Probation closed below,
Washed white in Jesus’ blood, I’ll sing
As to His courts I go.

Your sister saved in Jesus.

A CALL TO SINNERS.

—:o:—

AS I LIVE, saith the Lord God; I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn ye, turn ye from your evil way and live; for why will ye die, oh house of Israel? — Eze. 33:11.

Once more in the name of the God of Heaven I shall write this as a call to all those who read it, who are not saved, and leave it in standing lines to convert, or condemn you: to change you, or rise up in judgement against you. Oh sinner! that you did but know the love that you neglect, and the riches of the Gospel, and blessedness of that everlasting life in God. Let me tell you that even on this earth you little know the enjoyment that the saints of God have. The sanctified are conversing with God when you scarcely think of Him; when you are conversing with earth and flesh. O sinner, there is a more joyful life for you to live if you would come to Christ and be saved. You might then draw near to God with boldness, and call Him Father, and trust Him with your soul and body, and when you read the Bible you could say the promises were all yours. Oh, glory be to God! I can say that the promises are mine, my unsaved friend, wherever you may be, I pray that you may heed these words. If I were not saved I would be afraid of hearing these words, “Thou fool this, night thy soul shall be required of thee.” — Luke 12:20. And that sentence, “DEPART from me into everlasting fire.” My heart goes with these words, for you who are not made white in the blood of the Lamb; that you flee from the wrath to come, for I know should you be called away unprepared to meet your God, you would gladly give all you possess, if you could have one moment to get ready for heaven. But the devil is deluding your poor soul by telling you that you have plenty of time to enjoy life, and he saved at some other time. But God has said in His holy Word “now is the day of salvation.” There is nothing but a vail of flesh between thee and that amazing sight which will silence thee. And how quickly might that curtain be drawn and leave you speachless (before the presence of God, the righteous judge. Still, with this awful picture before your eyes, you seem willing to sell your Savior and salvation for a few hours of worldly pleasures, honor and riches. When this is gone, you will then lament the misspent time, but ALAS! Too LATE! Too LATE!! you must suffer through all eternity. “Oh that you were wise, and did consider your latter end.” – Deut. 32:29. He that hath an ear to hear, let him hear the call of God in this day of salvation.

THE LIGHT HAS COME.

—:o:—

THE GOSPEL has at last reached us. The saints held meeting in our grove, and we were made to say “we never heard it on this wise.” Truly the gates of hell have not prevailed against the Church. How few seem to appreciate this holy religion as proclaimed here. I was made to think of Christ preaching; while the common people heard him gladly, the sects picked up stones. Strange creatures we are! All professors deplore the divisions and lukewarmness of the (so-called) churches, pray for unity and holiness, and now when it is offered to them, it is utterly rejected, it is the old story over. The Jews were anxiously waiting for the Messiah, but when He came they were filled with madness. The sects may hate each other, but it seems this is all forgotten in their united zeal, and violence against the true saints. It seems now as then; the true Gospel is either a “savor of life unto life, or of death unto death.” But unto us who believe it is very precious. Be it known unto all the saints scattered abroad that here in Noble, Branch Co., Mich., are a few that will not bow to babylon; and now since the saints have been here, sect worship seems all the more tasteless. For years we have wondered why the Lord did not manifest Himself any more than He did; had He forsaken the earth? or could it be possible that the true Church still existed unbeknown to us? Yes, we see it now. It is still a glorious Church without spot. Now take courage and go on. Yes, Jesus surely has a Church with all His blessings and power. Blessed be His holy name! Now brethren, be patient toward blinded sectdom; “they know not what they do,” any more than the murderers of Christ did. I fear nothing more than that the saints might be overcome by stupidity and bigotry of sectdom. O be on your guard; he slow to speak, ever think of Christ’s dying prayer, “Lord, forgive them;” yes and that with all humility and meekness. All the good we have cometh from God and that for the edification of others. To serve the opposer and ignorant. We are simply the servants of God. We must not expect our labor to he appreciated by fallen babylon. Sectism has become such a time honored idol that with it goes all with which their whole life is interwoven. O this great babylon, the structure of a whole life, how many earthly ties are united to make its memory sacred. It is there our Fathers worshiped, and our youthful foot have trod, and like the old school-house which cluster some pleasing thoughts, though rude and exceedingly uncomfortable they were, we almost wish to live them over. Of course we who have tasted the new wine, have at once lost all relish and veneration for that which satisfieth not the soul. We rather remember the painful aching void we experienced in those arctic regions of almost perpetual night. Those upon whom many look as glittering monuments of steadfastness, look to us more like icebergs without either life or heat. We have found so much in Christ as to eclipse all earthly ties, and endearments. Our brothers, sisters and mother are those of like faith. We let the dead bury their dead sects, and fleshly relations. We are all swallowed up in Heaven’s glory. So let us have abundance of charity for the week and erring.

THE CHURCH AND ITS IMAGE.

—:o:—

Lincoln, Kan.

DEAR Saints of the Most High: — May grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all and keep you steadfast unto the end. Amen!

I have often wanted or been impressed to write to the TRUMPET. I left Denver on the 13th ult. and came here to see my brother in the flesh. I found him receiving the TRUMPET and enjoying its contents. He says he accepts its teachings, and also it is the best paper he has seen yet. He gave one to another person, and he too likes it. So I think the TRUMPET will be the means of spreading the evening light in this sin-darkened place. Since my arrival here, we (my brother and I) have been very busy and interested in searching the Scriptures in regard to the Church of God, and the image, (Dan. 2) or the Church of the world.

I went on Sunday to the M. E. class meeting, and had the privilege of testifying to them on the straight Gospel line. Holiness to the Lord, and salvation from sin and all sects on the face of the earth. I had nothing to say until the Baal prophet called on the “strange brother:” then I got up and opened my mouth, and God filled it. Glory to His blessed name, for it is “above every name.”

O God pity the poor deluded creatures who are worshiping the beast. The leader of the class was, as I learned afterwards, the shepherd of the flock in this place, in that sect. In his opening prayer, he acknowledged himself a condemned sinner, and asked God to forgive his sins. The flock also are dead in sin, for there was only one who seemed to have much of the Spirit of God.

I went again at night to the Evangelical protracted meeting, and found again the same old lady that I have spoken of above, who, when she got the opportunity, preached Christ to the people, and appealed them to forsake their sins and come to God; but none moved. She seems to be the only light God has in the place. True there are some who are very much opposed to the conduct of the sects, and talk against it. yet they are in the fog and cannot see afar off. O I do praise God that He has opened my eyes to behold at least same of the deep things of God. I can now see how they have their names written in earth who depart from God. Isa. 17:13. “because they have forsaken the Lord.” Then “men gather them,” John 15:6. Daniel tells about the great image, and its “head was of line gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, his legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.” — Dan. 2:32, 33. “Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred three score and six” or 666 Rev. 13:18. They that depart from God have their name written in this man-image-beast, which is such a terrible mixture from line gold to mirey clay. And how the blind sectarians love to set up this image to look at and admire it, as you will see by the following which I clipped from the Northwestern Christian Advocate of a late date. — It is headed “THE CHURCH MILITANT.” It says: “The Independent gives the following statistics of the Christian churches in the United States, compiled as far as possible from official returns: Adventists in 1888 — 100,441, Baptists, 3,971.- 685; Christian Union, 120,000; Congregationists, 457,584; German Evangelical, 24.000; Lutherans, 987,000; Mennonites, 98,000; Methodists, 4,699,529; Friends. 107,968; Moravians 10,966; New Jerusalem, 5,750; Presbyterians, 1,130,685; Episcopalians, 446,785; Reformed, 369,528; Roman Catholics, 7,200,060: Unitariaus, 20,000; Univerbalists. 37,807. Total 19,760,323.” Then it goes on to give the “net again for the year,” which is in accordance with Gal. 4:27, “Rejoice, thou barren that beareth not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath a husband.” Yes, their converts are numerous, but O what salvation is there in a change of the head if the heart is not also changed. Then at the bottom of the above sect report, it says, OTHER Religions. The united Presbyterian church of Bellevue Pa. has divided on the question of using fermented wine for communion. The twenty-six who favored unfermented wine have withdrawn and organized a new society.” So the image was not quite complete without this new sect. Another is the little sect known as “The Salvation Church of Christ,” organized and located in Kansas, and operated as all the rest, and having their walls of man-made laws, and the doors have to be opened by the blind guide of the blind, to admit to membership all who can muster up courage enough to say they are sanctified, when they should know that Christ says: I am the door: by me if any man shall enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. — John 10:9). Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not in by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. – vr. 1. O so many try to climb up to the pearly gates through their choice of the sects, and they are too blind to see that they are thieves and robbers. And when they want to preach or go from one part of the country to another, they must have letters of recommendation from some other man or men, so that they may be known and received as sectarians by others. But Paul intimates and plainly teaches that we have no need of such letters. He says: “Do we begin again to commend ourselves to you? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?” Then he says: “Ye are our epistles written in our hearts, known and read of all men.” Paul got no letters of recommendation from any body but God, who said: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature.” And the recommendation — “Lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”

“Bless the Lord O my soul, and all that is within me bless His holy name,” for saving and sanctifying my soul, keeping my body in health, and giving me light in my soul on the Word of God, which is able to make us wise unto salvation. Glory to God! I am saved in Christ from all sin and sects, and am standing on the sea of glass mingled with fire, the pure unadulterated Word of God and the fire of the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah! All is well.

Your brother in the body of Christ which is the Church of the living God. Amen!

HEALED BY THE POWER OF GOD.

—:o:—

THIS morning I feel led of the Lord to write a few lines to the honor and glory of God, and to the upbuilding of His kingdom in this world. A short time ago we received word from Charlotte, Mich. stating that dear sister Cogswell was very sick; not expected to live. She was under the doctor’s care, and kept under the influence of morphine to deaden her suffering. The disease had been coming on her for several months. She was very much comforted by our coming, and strenthened as we sang the songs of Zion. Praise God! We were there three days; she was doctoring all the time but could get no relief. The morning before we came away she desired us to pray for her healing. We obeyed God. anointing her with oil in the name of the Lord, and the Lord gave her immediate relief. Glory be to His name forever! In a little over a week after we left there, she came to this place and testified to the mighty power of God to heal the body as well as the soul. Oh dear ones, I feel the mignty power of God upon me as I write. Praise the Lord oh my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name! We had a glorious meeting yesterday with complete victory. Soon after the meeting was over, sister Silvers’ little boy was taken with spasms and continued having one after another for about three hours. But God made us feel that He was a present help in the time of need. We prayed over the child, anointing him with oil, and again the Lord verified His promise. He was immediately healed.

“O, I’d rather be the least of them
Who are the Lord’s alone,
Than wear a royal diadem
And sit upon a throne.”

Jesus says: Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature; he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils, * * * they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. Again Jesus says: All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth, verily, verily I say unto you, he that abideth in me, the works that I do shall he do also, and greater works than these shall he do, because I go to the Father. Whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you; continue ye in my love. He that hath the Son hath life, but he that hath not the Son hath not life. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us, and if we know that He heareth us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petition we desire of Him.

Your Bro. and sister sanctified, meet for the Master’s use.

Grand Jucntion, Mich.

Dear Brethren: — Glory be to God l I feel led of od to testify lo the mighty power of ..od to save from sin; yes, from all sin. Glory to God forever and ever! O I never felt such joy and peace as I do this moment. I do know of a truth that there is power in Christ to save the soul; not only that, but also to keep us from sin every moment and hour. If He is able to keep us one moment from sin, He is able to keep us all the days of our life if we will only let Him. I have tried this power now for six years, and have found it never-failing. In every trial I find the Lord ready, waiting to help me out. Oh Praise His matchless name! I know not where to begin to tell of His goodness. It is past finding out; the half has never yet been told. When a man gives his heart and life to God, he is then ready to begin life in this world; he is ready to live or die, just as God wills.

I have testified to my healing several times, but as we now have many new readers, I feel the Lord desires me to tell it again. O bless the Lord for all His benefits to me!

When I was a small child, 24 years old, I was taken with hip disease; for four years I was unable to help myself, not even to turn myself on the bed. Then I became able to walk by the help of a crutch and cane. I used a crutch and cane from that time till I was 19 years of age. During all these years I was not a moment free from pain. Many times, for a week could scarcely get any sleep nights. I had tried several physicians, but all said there was no help; I must suffer on and die with the pain. But at the age of 19, on the 23d of Jan. 1883, I gave my heart to God. Until that time I had been taught that the days of miracles were past; the M E. preacher said we had no right to ask God for such things. During the meeting in which I was saved I heard many testimonies to God’s power to heal. I opened the Bible, there I saw the words “Is any among you afflicted, let him pray.” I looked again; “Ask what ye will and it shall be done.” “God is no respecter of persons.” O how my heart rejoiced over these blessed promises. While sitting alone meditating on the things, I asked God to remove the pain I was suffering with and that instant it was done. (Jan. 25, ’83.) I asked no more until Feb. 18. I then asked for a complete work, and it was instantly done. Since that day there has not been a moment when I have felt the need of a crutch. Who should praise God more than I? O Glory to God! My whole life shall be spent in the service of God. Pray for me.

Your Brother saved, sanctified and kept.

Worstville, O.

Dear Brethren: — I do praise God for saving my soul from the awful pit. I am saved just now and kept by his mighty power through faith, ready to be revealed in the last time. Glory to our God in the highest! Jesus gives me victory over the beast, and his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name. O how it makes my soul leap for joy. Pray for me that I may stand fast in the Gospel of Christ and. do His will in all things. Praise God for salvation! Your brother cleansed from all sin.

ARE YOU LONGING FOR,
OR POSSESSING?

>:o:<

ONE exchange quotes from Bramwell, generally acknowledged, and doubtless was one of the most humble and pious primitive Methodists.

“Am I right? Can I be right in a this little love? Could I die for Thee? Could I suffer long and still love with a passion like Thine? I am crying to God daily, hourly, constantly, to receive a thousand times more love. I must give myself away; for the sacrifice was consumed. I too must be consumed, all the man must be cosumed.

And yet I must live. Thus to lose myself in Him I find is my glory. Then nothing but Christ in thought, word, preaching, praying etc. All the Son of God! His mind, His way, His work, His manner! To this I am coming, I am near. I am just going into my Lord.”

The Mich Holiness Record quotes the following from Raymond Lull, of the 13th century.

“The spirit longs after nothing as after God. No gold is worth so much as a sigh of holy longing. The more of] this longing one has, the more of life he has. The want of longing is death. Have this longing and thou shalt live. He is not poor who possesses this; unhappy the man who lives without it.”

Thus we might trace the best lights all the way through from the time the first sect was made on earth, until God has delivered us out of all isms, and we should find nothing better than an intense longing, hungering and groaning after the complete Bible standard of soul salvation. And in fact they were so accustomed to the longing after, and not attaining that they made the state of longing the standard. So says Lull, “the more longing,” “the more life.” “Have this longing and thou shalt live.” But thank God! we are able to lift a better standard of life. Souls dead in sins may long after life. The possession of Christ is life, and not the longing after Him. ‘He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life,” however much he may be longing after Him. James did not say: “ye may be longing after perfection in Christ,” but “ye may be perfect and entire wanting nothing.” How is a person to keep longing when he is perfect and entire, wanting nothing?” Paul did not write to the Ephesians, saying: “ye may long to be filled with all the fulness of God, all the days of your life,” but ye “may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height, and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” — Eph. 3:18, 19. Jesus did not say: “Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness for it is a blessed thing to hunger always.” Nay, but “blessed be ye that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for ye shall be filled.” It is a blessed thing to have a good appetite for our food, for then we may eat and be satisfied. But a person hungering at all times, and never satisfied, however much they may eat, are in an abnormal or diseased state. So all sect religion is more or less diseased; and the leprosy has now become so bad that God calls loudly upon all of His people to “come out of her.” “Flee out of the midst of babylon, and deliver every man his soul.” In our last issue, we have the lamentations of the Methodist Missionary, Ward, fearing that the awful contagious malady of “church sprees,” raging fatally in his sect should spread to the heathens of India. What a pity it would be if the heathen were to be corrupted by Methodist immorals. But to return to our subject, we know there have been many very good people in some of the sects, that once had spirituality. But never could they reach the New Testament summit of perfection. Their highest idea was ardent pursuit of the inexpressible riches of Christ. But to the Romans, the Apostle says: “Ye may be filled with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Jesus says, “ask that your joy may be full,” and John testifies saying: “of His fulness have we received, and grace for (upon) grace.” The object of hungering and longing is not for the sake of hungering, in order to lead us to the supplies that we may be filled. On the day of Pentecost “they were all filled with the Spirit.” Did they continue to hunger and groan after Him? No! but they being filled, inclined to give vent to the pent up fire of God, in joyful testimony, “declaring the wonderful works of God,” i. e., in their redeemed and satisfied souls. God says: “I will dwell in you, and walk in you.” “As God hath said, I will dwell in you and be your God, and ye shall be my people.” Is God, the Infinite Creator, in His little creature, and his heart crying out for the Living God, as though the Infinite Divine were insufficient to fill the finite human? Whoever reads these lines and is not filled with the blessed fulness of the love, peace and power of God, yea, with the all-pervading, Almighty God Himself, you should indeed so hunger and cry out for Him, until this is your experience. But to be full of God and all His glorious moral attributes, is the normal state of holiness, and not simply longing for the fulness. Surely God is sufficient to fill us; why not be filled then? Glory to Jesus! My soul is satisfied.

All this earth, its wealth and honor,
Cannot sate the human breast,
But when filled with God our Father,
Every want is fully blest.

Chorus. — O wondrous love Divine!
In me flowing all the time.
I am satisfied forever;
For in Jesus all is mine.

All my soul can wish forever,
I do find in Christ replete,
Every blessing and the giver
In my peaceful bosom meet.

Is thy life bereft of comfort?
And thy heart a cheerless spot?
Say not that Christ is in thy dessert;
For we can believe it not.

Can a bird drink up the ocean,
Thirsting still from shore to shore?
Or the God of all creation
Leave thy heart yet craving more?

Would my soul could more encompass
Heaven’s glory willed to me.
O the love of God, so precious!
’Tis a deep and shoreless sea.

NEWS FROM THE FIELD.

—:o:—

Crowland, Ont., Jan. 25.

SINCE we have been in Canada the roads have been very bad. No sleighing, most of the time very muddy, and the rest very rough; this being a clay country. We did not hold meetings all the time, and I returned to the OFFICE for one week. After returning here we held meetings nine days in the village of Fenwick. This place is about two miles from the saints little house of worship, and some oft the people having been over to the meetings, were eager to have the awful trump of God sounded in their village. There was quite a general acknowledgment of the truth, and many even received the Word with much enthusiasm. But there were only a very few who could be prevailed upon to bow at the throne of mercy and seek God. However we know the Word of God shall yet bring forth fruit in that place. We received a letter from there since leaving, also word through different parties, stating that quite a number are very anxious we should return; some even promising to seek God if we would do so. Praise God! We held the meetings in a hall above a blacksmith and wagon shop. A cold place, but God gave us mild weather, and helped ns mightily to preach the Gospel. There was no small stir. The Methodist priest came to hear a few times, and though we knew not his presence one night, he received a message by the Holy Spirit, that, to him, was “wormwood and water of gall.” How we pity the poor souls that are writhing in pain because of the fire that consumes the wood, hay and stubble of vain religion.

Next, we were conveyed by the saints to this little burg, where we have been over a week. We have the use of a comfortable house of worship here, (or would be if properly seated) the owner of which has consecrated himself wholly to God. Eight or ten souls have given themselves up to God, and are rejoicing in the precious love of Jesus. Some of them had made a profession before, and others not. The Lord has established a good little Church here. We are still working away, with prospects of the salvation of other souls. Other places are awaiting us. We do not know how long we will remain here. We should love to go back to Pa., invade Ohio. And we also feel a desire sometimes that some one else should take our place in our heavenly little company, and we devote ourself more to writing. Tracis, etc., must be issued. We are now preparing a tract on the Church, with much care. It will set forth the subject in a clear condensed form. I would to God it could be published and scattered free. Dear Bro. J. W. Evans has also written a small work on that line for publication. But our OFFICE force at present is too small to do Hindi beyond the Trumpet and song book work. God must raise up some more workers for the OFFICE. Bro. James Newkirk with his companion, sister Theresa, has returned to Nebraska some time ago; also Minnie Carmichael has gone to Pa.. Thanks for the coming of Bro. Oliver Arms who is a good servant of the Lord. But we are praying God to send in more true wholly consecrated workers for Jesus. A sister or two who have a single eye to the glory of God. Means are also greatly needed. The Lord move the hearts of His saints to put His money to preaching the Gospel. Do for Jesus’ sake, beloved, send in your offerings unto the Lord. You will bless souls, and God will bless your soul, and what better can you do with the Lord’s means. All our company are well, and filled with faith and the Holy Spirit. Pray much for us. Amen!

Bangor, Mich.

Dear Saints of G d: — I want to report of the salvation of my soul and the glorious work in Bangor. Souls are being saved, prejudice is being removed and there is a general good feeling among the people who make no profession. Sectarians are gnawing their tongues with pain. The M. E. sect have sent out for a new supply of preachers, to keep their members from hearing the Word of God: but by the grace of God we expect to sound the trumpet in this place until all shall hear the Word of God. Now dear saints, pray for us that we may stand complete in all the will of God. From your Brother saved and sanctified.

Vandalia, Ill., Jan. 26.

Greeting to all the Saints: — May God wonderfully bless you with all His blessed fulness; may you rejoice with, joy unspeakable and full of glory. Amen!

After dear Bro. Haner’s return from Bunker Hill Ill. to St James Mo., we remained in the name of Jesus and attended to administering the ordinances to God’s dear little ones at Bunker Hill. Four dear precious souls received baptism the 2nd of Jan. The night following we followed our Savior’s example in washing the saints feet and commemorating His death and suffering for us. It was a precious meeting to our souls, and God did wonderfully bless us. Hallelujah! He has said, If ye know those things, happy are ye if ye do them. Amen!

We (Bro. Thomas Carter and myself) then went six miles East of Bunker Hill, where we presented the pure Word of God. Three dear souls were cleansed from all sin; two of which had never been converted until that meeting. Some professing holiness in that country would not come to hear the Word because we did not belong to a sect. One poor soul came to our meeting and said that he wanted to be right, but was so married to babylon that he could not give her up. He had great influence, and therefore stood in the way of many souls. We trust that the seed sown in that place may yet bring forth fruit to the glory God.

We then came to Brownstown Ill. where my companion had been staying. My father, mother and three sisters are laboring in this part of Ill. We came yesterday to this place. Commenced meeting last night. The Lord is with us, and we expect to remain here as long as He wills. Pray that many souls be saved here.

I realize just now that the blood is flowing over my soul, glory to God, and I am shod with the preparation of the Gospel, and have the shield of faith and the Sword of the Spirit, and am filled with the Holy Ghost and fire which casts out fear. Hallelujah! And I know that the mighty

lion of the tribe of Judah and the blessed Lamb of God are gently lying together in my soul. Glory to God for ever and ever! I am rejoicing ever more. This commandment with others, found in 2 Thess. 5:16, 17, 18, I find are not being kept by a great many professing holiness. God has commanded: “Rejoice ever more, pray without ceasing, in every thing give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” And in Matt. 7:21 He says: not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that, doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Now dear brethren let us be sure we do the whole will of our Father, then the windows of heaven will be opened and the blessings poured out. Hallelujah! Amen!

Akron, Kan., Jan. 14, 1889.

Dear Trumpet Readers: — God bless you!

From Stafford we went to the Centennial school-house, six miles Southwest of Cedar Vale, where we commenced a meeting in the name of the blessed Jesus, Dec. 17th 1888. As the meeting progressed we found that many of the dear ones were not up to the full measure of God’s Word; and some that were professing were not converted, others were under the power of, or possessed of evil spirits, and had done much through their crooked living which had disgraced the cause of salvation in that locality and had given sectarians wherewith to accuse the saints. Glory to our God! He set His separator to work, and all the little ones who were honest at heart were soon separated from every chaffy thing or at least the most of them; but some had been so completely sifted by the devil, all good having been taken out of them, that when they passed through the Lord’s separator they were blown over-board and went off foaming and threatening. There were several who got salvation and we think that the Lord has greatly strengthened His Church in Centennial Valley. To God be all the glory. There were many who acknowledged the truth and treated us kindly that were not saved; and as I remember their kindness to us, I wonder if they will get salvation and be among the redeemed in the great judgment day.

Before leaving the Valley, we held an ordinance meeting at Bro. Moorhead’s and there were present twenty or more of the dear saints at the meeting. There were several at this meeting who were seeking sanctification. After services we were conveyed by dear Bro. Harp to his residence where we rested for a little season and partook of some refreshments and then the Bro. conveyed us to Cedar Yale where we took train for Winfield where we arrived in due time and was met by Brother B. Ahlerichs who conveyed us in a wagon to his residence about nine miles Northwest of Winfield, Cowley Co. Kan., and one mile West of Akron at which place we have commenced a meeting in the name of the Lord. Your saved brethren, —— A. J. Kilpatrick, S. L. Speck & Jas. Willis.

All praise and glory to the God of all grace for His wonderful works to the children of men, and for the glorious work he has wrought, in saving and sanctifying souls in the meeting which we closed last Saturday in father Byers neighborhood. The dear Lord kept us laboring in that place and in the town of Albany for five weeks; in which time there were forty or fifty consecrations in all for both experiences. This includes those reported in our last. It was one of the most wonderful meetings that we were ever in. O the glorious melting power that rested on our souls from time to time in all its refining influence; verifying and settling the dear saints in all the will of God. O it was just wonderful to see the precious souls melted down before the mighty power of the Holy Ghost till we were all compacted together in one mind and one Spirit. O how blessed it was to realize the leadings of the blessed Holy Ghost in all the work during the whole of the time. There was not a single jar or discord among the workers. The Spirit leading each one just where they should go, and when they should work, and what they should do. O hallelujah to God and the Lamb for ever and ever! Amen! The last of the series of meetings in the vicinity of Albany was held at father Byers Saturday, Jan. 21. which was a very precious waiting before the dear Lord. O the sweet holy calm of heavenly rest that filled all our hearts with joy unspeakable and full of glory.

We went the next day to Cotton Wood, in Bro. Daniels neighborhood where we commenced meeting in the name of King Jesus. God had revealed to us before we left home that there was much crookedness in this place. O glory to God! the Spirit at once began to search, and the deep and hidden things were brought to light, and much crookedness was made straight by making a complete death: and then a glorious resurrection. But there is much yet to do. But we feel assured that the Spirit of God will complete its work in purifying the Church at that place. On the evening of the 25th we had an ordinance meeting at father Byers which was the most precious one that we have ever been permitted to enjoy. O the sweet holy calm of heaven that seemed to pervade every heart. There were 37 present, and 33 took part in the exercises. The blessed Spirit so gently and sweetly melted us all into one, and so lovingly presided over the meeting that even those who did not partake were convinced and were sorry they did not participate. Quite anumber of the saints in this vicinity were not permitted to be present at this precious meeting. May God keep all these precious saints in the unity of the spirit and the bonds of peace, filled with the mighty power of God.

Your Bro. saved and sanctified in the precious blood of Jesus. Amen!

Dear Trumpet Readers: — We praise God this morning for full and free salvation which delivers us from all sin. We commenced meeting in the name of the Lord, Dec. 23, about five miles from Lima Ind. There was much opposition, but the enemy was defeated by the power of God, and a glorious work was done. There were about twenty consecrations. On Jan. 20, thirteen happy saints of God were buried in baptism by Bro’s Yoder and Eargood. In the evening we observed the ordinances of the Lord’s supper, and washing the saint’s feet; in which act the dear Lord did wonderfully bless our souls.

Your brothers in Christ.

Dear Trumpet Readers: — May the Lord bless you all. We are saved through the precious blood of Jesus just now. We commenced meeting in the name of the Lord. Dec. 23, at Swamp school-house. The power of God was wonderfully manifested during the meeting; and there were about twenty consecrations. One woman, who was possessed with devils, was delivered from them by the power of God. A number of persons were healed; and five were baptized in Scott Lake, on Jan. 21.

Your brother and sister in Christ, saved from all sin and sanctified by the blood of Jesus.

Meriden, Kan.

To all the saints greeting: — May the God of all grace keep you in His love. Amen!

My soul is joyful in the Lord. Oh how the dear Lord fills and thrills my entire being with His transparent glory and the double everlasting joy. Truly “both He that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren.” “Bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh.” Hallelujah to God and the Lamb forever!

I came here in the name of Jesus Nov. 18, commenced meeting the day following; found things in a very discordant condition. Heresy of different kinds had been brought in, not sparing the flock; and some of the saints had become ensnared and their experience almost gone; but when the straight Word was given by the power of God, some of them heard the noise of the Shepherd and straightened up to the Word and found their home in Christ again. Others refused light and are now in a worse condition than when meeting commenced. Truly if our Gospel be hid it is bid to them that are lost; in whom the God of this world hath blinded the minds of them that believe not; but the light of the glorious Gospel which is the image of God should show unto them. I did not see as many saved as should have liked to; but the promise is, In as much as ye know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. The Lord attended His Word in power. Amen! The work was mostly among those who were professing to be saints, but not clear. Judgment must first begin at the house of God; and if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear. Truly we are living in perilous times. Well may we receive the admonition, keep thyself PURE.

I go from here to Humboldt Kan. to hold meetings in that part My Bro. J. is not with me at present. All the dear saints pray for me. Your sanctified sister in the patience and faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, in the complete will of God.

Dear Brethren: — We are still in the glorious work, and the Lord is blessing our souls and opening the way for the truth. We were glad to meet the little ones at Blanco once more. They are still strong and triumphing in the Lord. The meeting at Blanco was a grand success; it commenced Jan. 5. The enemy came in like a flood in the first of the meeting, and tried to turn it into derision; but the power of God was so manifested as to confound them, so they resorted to violence. Some of the better disposed sinners were willing to take our place, and take the blows in our stead. “And the earth helped the woman, (the Church) Rev. 32. Even among those of the baser sort who were to be seen staggering up the isle was the sect preachers, some of them under the influence of intoxicating liquors. The Lord restrained their rage and awful wrath. Two were saved and two sanctified before we left, and we held an ordinance meeting on Sunday evening; 16 participated. Sister Shaw arrived the last day of the meeting from Stoneboro Pa. We are now at Cochran’s Mills. We find the people are more noble here. There are meeting-houses in different neighborhoods open for us here.

Pray for us that we may have boldness, power, wisdom, humility and grace to do the whole will of God.

St James Mo.

Praise the Lord for the victory we are having in this country in the name of Jesus. We have just closed a meeting 10 miles south of town. God was with us in power, and souls were saved from all sin. About six consecrated for entire sanctification; others were deeply convicted, but would not yield to God. While we were at this meeting, Bro. Houghton had one north of town. Two sanctified, and three converted. The blessed work moves on in power; doors are opening for holiness, and more calls than we can possibly fill in several months, and as we expect Bro. Bolds soon, or in the spring, to work in this country, we expect if the Lord wills to start in Feb. for Ind. We have several calls in Ind. and Mich. which we expect to meet as soon as the Lord wills. We ask the brethren to pray for us that we may be brought on our way safely to Ind. and Mich. We long to see the brethren in these states. We are now on our way to Rolla Mo., 10 miles west of St James, to hold meeting. We ask all the saints to pray for us there. We all send much love in greeting to all the saints who read the TRUMPET.

I am your Bro. sanctified wholly, with the real fire in my soul. Hallelujah to the Lamb!

Dear Brethren: — May God richly bless and keep you all pure and abounding in His perfect love. Amen!

Alter my labors near Sidney Ohio, as given in my last report, the Lord sent me to New Pittsburg Ind., where we commenced meeting in Praise Chapel in the name of the Lord; mighty conviction settled down upon the people. Before my arrival there, satan got to working among some of them, which resulted in the breaking of the unity of the Spirit, and the overthrow of some of them. But was defeated through the truth and the power of God, and the unity of the Spirit was again sweetly, and more perfectly restored among the saints. There were a number of consecrations. Oh how some the prodigal children, who were again made happy, did rejoice in God, their salvation. Praise the Lord! Some of the saints at Portland were also present during some of the meetings, who also shared the heavenly feast with us. Dear Bro. Jesse McFarland and two of his daughters from North Hampton Ohio; one of whom was sweetly saved before returning home. There was generally a good attenance and interest among the people. Nearly all of the little ones were willing to settle and square up with (he truth. God richly and abundantly blessed their souls. We earnestly invoke heaven’s blessings and guidance upon the Church. Bro. Kaufman was chosen of the Lord as deacon, also Bro. Porter was ordained elder of the Church. We pray that God may ever keep them humble and qualified and used of Him in the office wherein they were placed by the Lord. The Church was blessed, advanced, and settled down in God. We hope that all hereafter will endeaver to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bonds of piece and perfect love through much prayer and watchfulness. Amen!

At present we are laboring out here. Souls are being saved, and the work is moving on. There are many doors open for us in the Gospel work. Love to all the saints. Please pray for us that many souls may be saved, and the truth spread.

Your free Bro. wholly sanctified.

Roann Ind., Dec. 29, 1888.

Dear Friends: — I am not entirely satisfied; I fear I am not filled with the Spirit at least I am not always in the Spirit But when I ask His assistance, I almost always receive it in a measure. A brother lately asked me: “Do you enjoy full salvation?” I told him I had professed to enjoy it, had felt that it would be wrong not to do so; I have consecrated and believed for it, yet at times I still feel the moving of anger, pride, etc.; sometimes I feel strong and able to resist the temptation, at other times I yield. At such times I am led to doubt if I ever enjoyed it. Yet the promise is: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness;” and “If ye mortify the deeds of the body ye shall live.” This has been a great consolation to me. I desire above all things to be wholly the Lord’s. I read a great many good testimonies in the TRUMPET, but “My goodness extendeth not to them.” Some think the reason I have such a vascillating experience is because I do not understand, being deaf; but I attribute it to nothing but weak faith. “Him that is weak in the faith, receive ye.” I would be glad if the Lord would put it into the hearts of some of the good brethren to come here and preach to us some time. Would be willing to help defray their expenses. Or if any good brother or sister has a word of exhortation or instruction for me. I would like to have you write to me. It will be thankfully received.

“Faint, yet still pursuing.” Yours in hope of full salvation.

Susan B. Kuffel.

NOTE.

NOT being acquainted with the sister, we are unable to say just what all is in her way to prevent her enjoying full salvation. But it is evident that she is trying in her own strength instead of letting the Lord do the work, and she only an instrument in His hands to do His bidding. So many people of to-day are in the same condition, who are honestly and earnestly seeking salvation and go through a form of consecration, seemingly with all sincerity: claim the blessing and make a profession, yet their heart is far from God. They still have the same longing, hungering, and thirsting, and wonder why such is the case. It is because they forget to give God a chance, instead of doing it all themselves. “For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God: not by works lest any man should boast.” — Eph. 2:8, 9. An outward form or profession, reasoning of the mind etc., will amount to nothing without a change of heart: “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” — Rom. 10:10. When you confess your sins and remember that God says “He is just and faithful to forgive,” then take God at His Word and count the work done, and you can truthfully claim the blessing without a doubt, just as soon as you are willing to forsake all for Christ and confess your sins to Him for then you have the whole word of God as an evidence that it is true, and also the Spirit witnesseth to the same. “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Rom. 5:1, When you have reached this point, then you are in a proper condition to “present your body a living sacrifice,” for sanctification according to Rom. 12:1. When this is done there will remain none of the elements of carnality. Pride and anger will find no place in your heart, “for your life is hid with Christ in God.” Many fail to enjoy salvation because they will not make right — as far as lieth in their power — the things wherein they have wronged their fellow men. Many have had a blessed experience and labored long for the Master, and then in some way have lost that joy and pence, yet their desire is to do good. There is always some reason for such a person becoming alienated from God and losing their experience. Sometimes you can review the past and realize what it is, while at other times it seems to be hidden from our view. Sometimes the Lord empties us out — as the saying is — and leaves us in this condition for a while that we may feel and realize our nothingness, and littleness before Him. At such times it is necessary for us to seek a close communion and walk with Him, for He says: “Lo I am with you always,” and “I will never leave nor forsake you.” Bless the Lord for such a promise. “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil.”

In making your consecration be sure that it is complete; count all things on the altar, all you know, and all you do not know; then if anything should come up in the future of which you had not thought, count it included in the consecration, and do not allow it to be taken from off the altar, nor to bother you in any way, and thus you resist the devil and give no place to Him and you go on your way rejoicing in the name of Jesus. The enemy generally tries to break the ranks and gain a foothold at the weakest point, and when that is gained, another can be easily gained. Through observation of the lives of persons in this holy warfare, some of whom have been heroes in the strife, we find that when the weak points are attacked by the enemy, the shield of faith is raised which wards off the darts; but in a somewhat unguarded hour the best strongholds are attacked. FAITH itself bombarded by the enemy, and seemingly the shield is held down by some irresistible power; just there and in such a time is where so many fall and give up the struggle, giving the victory to the enemy; they seem to forget that the Lord has promised that He would be with them always, and never leave nor forsake as long as they trust Him; and also that He would fight their battles for them. How often persons who have special gifts in that line are baffled in that very same way. O that they would only trust more upon the blessed promises of the Lord, and instantly declare their freedom and victory through the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember that FAITH is the key which unlocks the prison doors and unfolds the deep and mysterious things of God, and if you are in the hands of God you have that key. All you have to do is to use it and go forth in the name of Jesus in the liberty it gives.

Dearly Unloved Trumpet Readers: — I am also a reader of the TRUMPET, and praise God for the blessed privilege of being permitted to read it. This afternoon being alone in my room after having perused the paper, I feel led of the Lord to write my testimony for the glory of God. Oh how glad I am that Jesus is my satisfying portion. He has so completely cleansed and purified both soul and body. The old man is killed and every root of bitterness is taken out of my heart. Dead to the world and alive unto Christ. I can never praise God enough for leading me into this blessed evening light, and sanctifying my soul by a second work of grace. Praise God! “If we live in the Spirit, let us walk in the Spirit.” Pray for me that I may be a faithful worker in the vineyard of the Lord.

Blest was the hour when Jesus said:
“Thy sins are all forgiven,”
And scattered rays of glory bright
To lead my thoughts to heaven.

Blessed still that morning fair
After nine long years had fled,
Since Jesus spoke, those blessed words
To me those words how dear?

I gave my body a sacrifice
According to His will;
And praise be to His holy name,
He sanctified my soul.

He made me happy in His love,
He keeps me from all sin;
O may I always live for Him
And do His blessed will.

Dear Saints: — Grace be unto you, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be God even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of mercies, the God of all comfort, who comforteth us in all our tribulations that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble with the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of Cod.

Dear readers, I wish to glorify God by writing my experience. I was brought up in the darkness of the sect called the Church of England. I was baptized when an infant, for which I had a God-father and two God-mothers who became responsible for my soul, and promised that I should renounce the devil and all his works. So then I was supposed to be a member of Christ, the child of God; and an heir to the kingdom of heaven. I learned my prayers from my prayer-book and catechism. At the age of 22 I was confirmed; for which I had to learn the Apostles’ creed, the Lord’s prayer and the 10 commandments, the Bishop laying his hand upon my head that the Holy Spirit may ever abide with me. But I knew nothing of salvation, for I had not been born of the Spirit. But praise the Lord! nearly 5 years ago I saw my lost condition, and found peace and rest in my dear Savior. Such a stream of light came into my soul, and I was filled with love to God and man. I rejoiced and praised God. But I thought I could not live a christian unless I joined one of the so-called churches, so I united with the M. E. sect in Detroit. I soon found them to be more worldly than the one I had left; yet I stayed there nearly three years. I praise the Lord that He has opened my eyes to deeper light, and now I can see that they are nothing but a spirit of delusion, (2 Thes 2:11; Isa. 66:4.) which the devil and man have invented to turn the people from God to their own idols. But woe unto the deceivers and those deceived by them, for God is not to be mocked. (Gal. 6:4.) Dear reader, the reason why I did not come out before, is because I did not know anything about it until about 2 years ago, when I met Bro. A. C. Beaudette, (my husband) and Iris teaching was so very much different from sect teachings that I hardly knew what to do. But thank God! I accepted it, and about two months ago I was wholly sanctified, and now I do know that this is the only true light. I have no more doubts and fears in my heart, and the great vail of darkness is taken away from my spiritual eyes and the Sun of Righteousness is sinning all the time in my soul.

I feel it would please God, and also help rescue poor perishing souls from the darkness of the world, if all those who have friends and relatives and would like to have them saved and enjoy the same privileges and blessings you enjoy yourselves, would send them the GOSPEL TRUMPET, and thus lead them into the light; for many are made to realize their condition, and seek the Lord through reading its columns. I have in my native country. England, a mother and brothers who are just the same as I was, hungering and thirsting after righteousness, but have nothing but dry crumbs which fall from the table of the Episcopalians, with which their poor ungodly ministers feed their congregations. Now dear readers, I am going to send them the TRUMPET so that the Lord may open their eyes to this evening light. I am sure there are many hundreds of the saints can very easily do the same little sacrifice, which would please God, and at the same time help to remove the indebtedness at the TRUMPET OFFICE, also spread the Gospel over this sinful world.

From your Sister saved and sanctified through the precious blood of Jesus.

Bessie Beaudette.

Dear Brethren: — I praise God for salvation that saves from all sin. It has been about three years since the glorious evening light was first taught here. A few accepted, and others rejected it; some have fallen by the wayside; but we still have a few who stand firm, and we have glorious little meetings. O I do praise the Lord that judgment, is given to the saints of the most high, and the time has come that the saints possess the kingdom. When I think of the gross darkness that is fast settling down on the Gentile nation O how I do feel, that they will not see their condition and give their hearts to God before it is too late. The harvest is past, and the gleaning is going on, and oh how few sheaves are being gathered. Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while I am with you, and then I go to Him that sent me; ye shall seek me, and shall not find me, and where I am, thither ye cannot come. — John 7:33, 34. They shall go with their flocks, and with their herds to seek the Lord, but they shall not find Him. He hath withdrawn Himself from them. O what a time! the door of repentance so soon to be closed, and so many unsaved.

Your brother saved and sanctified, out on the promise and under the blood.

Dear Brethren: — I feel led to write my testimony of the mighty power of Jesus to save. I was wonderfully saved about, three years ago, and as I review the past I must say. Truly the Lord has been good to me. O glory be to God who giveth us the victory again and again.

When I was about 13 years of age I was converted to God, but, sad to say, I turned away from Him and lived in sin and rebellion for 12 years. I then returned to Father’s house and found bread enough and to spare. Why brethren, the Lord is willing to save anyone who wants to be saved. I know He will; there is no case too hard for Him. I want to say here that I was also a persecutor of God’s children, especially one of His workers, sent by the Lord a messenger to me. O the powers of darkness! The devil, the liar, in one of his many questions to me said: “Who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come? You have sinned away the day of grace.” But Glory! Glory!! Glory be to God!!! that question is settled, and I have satan under foot.

I want to say that I am in sympathy with the TRUMPET friends, and believe this to be the only way. Christ died for us, and we must be determined to know nothing among men save Christ and Him crucified. His command is “follow me,” and “ye are my friends if ye do whatsoever I command you.” It is high time that every Christian (not professing church member) lays hold and pull down these sect walls, and make men stand alone, and route satan out of his hiding-place. Lord help us to redeem the time because the days are evil.

Yours in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — Grace, peace and joy be multiplied unto you. My testimony is that Jesus saves me just now. Praise God for full and free salvation in Christ Jesus. I have severe trials of my faith, but praise God who giveth the victory. Hallelujah! There are a few people here that have honest hearts and are seeking to know Christ Jesus unto full salvation. The saints here are few in number, but we are sure that if we keep true to God, He will use us to His glory. Pray for us, brethren: pray that God may yet save many people; we realize that the time is short; the signs proclaim it all around us. It is even at the door, and we know not what moment we may be called to judgment. Your humble Bro. in Christ.

Dearly Beloved Trumpet: — I do praise God for an everlasting salvation which keeps us without sin in this present world. Hallelujah! I thank God that He has delivered me from this wicked world, and has translated me into His heavenly kingdom. Oh that poor blind sectarians could see the awful doom that awaits them unless they repent. Praise the Lord! I have sold all out to Him, and am no more my own. Thanks be to God that we have a Savior who is every where present and ready to help in time of need Praise the Lord forever!

From your saved Bro., all on the altar.

Dear Saints: — Praise the Lord for full and free salvation, and for the wonderful things He is doing for me; how He has saved mo from tobacco and many other things. It is wonderful how God will lead us, if wo are willing to follow Him. I praise the Lord that I was made willing to follow Him, and take His blessed word;

it is so plain that no one need go astray. The Lord called us out of the sect and I can now see more plainly than ever the idolatry of the so-called churches of today. They do not get any one saved; all they are after is numbers and wealth. O for more Holy Ghost preachers.

Pray for ns that the truth my prevail here yet and God be glorified. Amen.

Dear Saints — Blessed are they which are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb; let us rejoice and be glad and give honor to Him, for the maraiage of the Lamb is come and the bride hath made herself ready. — Rev. 19. I do thank and praise God. for an experience that cannot be tossed to and fro with every wind of babylon mixed up Watch Tower doctrine. I thank God for at least one true and faithful organ which cries aloud and spares not in these perilous times, the GOSPEL TRUMPET, which I know tastes good and is living bread to every saint. Dear Brethren, let us help support that which is good, and which we say we love. May God keep us by His almighty power here below, and keep us all ready for His appearing.

My testimony is, Jesus wonderfully saves and keeps me from all sin. When I look around me and see the darkness that covers the minds of the people, I am lost in wonderful love and praise to God for calling me out of these dark places of deception. Thousands are being deceived by false teachers to-day. This is an awful age we are living in, so many are rejecting the truth of God. I do praise the Lord for the blessed light that shines in in my soul. I often think of the high and holy calling of God’s little ones. “Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Dear saints, stand firm for God. Many are being tried and made white. I am your sister and companion in tribulation and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ. Amen!

Dear Saints: — God bless you all with his choicest blessings, and keep you ready to be revealed in the last time. I am saved just now, praise the Lord, O my soul! Let all that it within me praise His holy name. I praise the Lord for the Gospel Trumpet, and the encouragement I receive from the testimonies of the dear saints. I would say to all, stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made you free.

We had a glad surprise from Bro. A. H. Lea during the holidays; held several meetings found the Church straight for God. The Lord was with us in mighty power to heal and to save. One saved and two healed and the Church edified. To Jesus be all the glory now and ever more.

Dear Readers: — I will try and write a few words in praise of my dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I Wish that we could have a Holy Ghost minister to preach the Gospel to us; one that would preach the Holy Gospel and nothing else. We need one very much in Advance. At present there are no meetings. If some one would come full of love and the Holy Ghost, I think there are some that could be brought to the light of the Gospel.

Pray for me that I may do all the will of God, and keep humble at His feet. From your sister in Christ.

In the name of Jesus I testify through the TRUMPET what the Lord has done for me. I do praise the dear Lord for his mercies to me in leading me out into this glorious evening light that shines in my soul; and for what I feel just now. When I was twelve years old I was converted in a meeting held by the M. E. sect at Newport Ohio; and saw in the Word of God where we are to be buried with Christ by baptism, and to be raised with Him in newness of life. They refused to immerse me so I went to the Campbelites and was immersed by them and remained a member of that sect till 1878; then I saw in the Word of the Lord the ordinance of feet washing and I asked the preacher why we could not practice it. He said it was not for ns to practice; but it was so plain to me I could not get it off my mind. Some time after this I met the Church of God sect and they practiced washing feet, and I thought truly this is the Church of the living God. They said they took the Bible for their guide and the man of their counsel. I also read in the Word of God where sanctification is taught. I knew it was taught as a second work of grace. I went to the preacher and he said we received it when we come to die. Yet that did not satisfy me. Christ says: As He is so are we in this world, and also, 1 Thess. 4:3, “for this is the will of God, even your sanctification.” He commands us to be holy for He is holy. I could not get rid of this. I attended a camp-meeting held by them, and there the scales fell from my eyes and I saw the awful corrupt condition of the so-called Church of God. When we left the camp ground, we left the sect behind. From that time I was no more with them.

At a camp-meeting held by the saints of the living God four years ago is where I first met the true children of God; and one year ago last September at the Grove meeting at Bro Latshaw’s I consecrated myself to the Lord a living sacrifice, and let my past experience go for what it was worth. (As I had consecrated for sanctification before and claimed to be sanctified several times before this.) But this time the Lord settled and established me as never before; and now I have reached the place the Apostle says none of these things move me; and am reigning with one Christ Jesus. The Lord is my all and in all. I know that I am pleasing Him. also have taken Him for my Physician for for the body as well as the soul.

My testimony is, I am sitting at the feet of Jesus, praising God for victory over the world, the flesh and the devil. The Lord sanctifies me wholly. Pray for me. Your sister in the Church of the Living God.

Dear Saints: — Praise the Lord, this morning finds us with complete victory in our soul. Glory to Jesus for ever! We do praise God for this wonderful freedom in Christ; and one of the instruments God used to bring us into this glorious experience was the GOSPEL TRUMPET: for which you will find enclosed one dollar to pay for another year. The Trumpet is a welcome visitor at our house, it is food to our souls. Glory to Jesus for ever and ever for what has been done through the Trumpet and for what it is sti.. doing for us. We give God all the glory; and ask Him to keep the GOSPEL TRUMPET family filled with wisdom and power from on high, so that this glorious work may go on. Your Bro. and sister saved, sanctified and kept by the power of God.

Dear Saints: — God has full possession of my soul, and He leads me in His truth. I love to do His will in all things. I praise His holy name that He has taken me out of sect babylon and given me His pure light to work for Him in this sinful world. Babylon is fallen in these last days, and the true light is shining and all God’s elect walk therein. “I will gather my flock out of all countries, and I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them, and they shall fear no more nor be dismayed; neither shall they be lacking saith the Lord.” O how true the words of God are; for He has seen the wickedness of the prophet in our land to-day; and all true souls will accept holiness and give up trusting in creeds. The professing Christians in the sect churches of to-day talk like the world, dress like the world, and have selfishness, malice, deceit etc. I give God all the praise that He can take all malice and pride and self away from them. Praise God for a full and free salvation. I feel that He is going to do a work here soon. Pray for us. We need help here, that God’s Church may shine forth as the noon day sun. Your brother saved from all sin, sanctified and kept by the power of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Cedar Vale, Kan,

To all the Saints of God: — I am praising God this morning for full and complete salvation. I realize the cleansing fountain flows over my soul and makes me every whit whole. Glory to God! I am reigning above this world of sin with victory in my soul; with the eternal praises and glory of God which sweeps away all the works of night. Hallelujah! I am standing on the sea of glass. We meet with sore temptations, but it only makes us stronger. O how I praise God for this blessed evening light. I praise the Lord for the healing power. He healed me of lung trouble, for which I give him all the glory. Pray for me that the Lord may entirely heal me of other afflictions, and make me perfectly whole.

About a year ago I was in the sect, but I heard His voice saying: “Come out of her my people,” and I obeyed the voice, and am now rejoicing in the glorious evening light. Your saved sister.

Dear Saints: — May the richest blessings of heaven rest on each one of you. Amen. Glory to Jesus! I have felt for some time it would be to the glory of God for me to write my testimony to the TRUMPET. Praise our God who giveth us the victory through the blood of the Lamb. I feel that God for Christ’s sake has forgiven all my sins, and the blood of Christ cleanseth me from all unrighteousness, and sanctifies my soul by a second work of grace. Praise God! We are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last times. There are only a few saints at this place, but the Lord is with us; we have meeting every Sabbath, and one night during the week. Pray for us that we may always prove faithful to Jesus; ever looking unto Him who is the author and finisher of our faith.

Dear Saints: — I feel led by the Spirit of God to write a few words to the TRUMPET readers. I am saved, and by the assisting grace of God I ever intend to do His will. Dear Saints: — I am always glad when I receive the Gospel Trumpet. It is joy to my soul to hear how the saints are getting along. There are only a few of us here, but we are filled with the power of God, praising the Lord continually for what He is doing for us. I am under the blood; filled with the power of the Holy Ghost, dead to the world and alive unto God.
