Out of and Into.

—o§o—

“He brought us out that He might bring us in.’ — Deut. 6:23.

Out of the distance, and darkness, so deep,
Out of the settled and perilous sleep,
Out of the region, and shadow of death,
Out of its foul and pestilent breath,
Out of the bondage, and wearying chains,
Out of companionship ever with stains —
Into the light, and glory of God,
Into the holiest made clean by the blood,
Into His arms — the embrace and the kiss,
Into the scene of ineffable bliss,
Into the quiet, the infinite calm,
Into the place of the song and psalm:
Wonderful love that has wrought all for me!
Wonderful work, that has thus set me free!
Wonderful ground upon which I have come!
Wonderful tenderness, welcoming home!

Out of the horror of being alone,
Out, and forever, of being my own,
Out of the hardness of heart and of will,
Out of the longings which nothing could fill,
Out of the bitterness, madness and strife,
Out of myself, and all I called life —
Into communion with Father and Son,
Into the sharing of all Jesus won,
Into the ecstasies full to the brim,
Into the having of all things with Him,
Into more blessing than words e’re can tell,
Wonderful lowliness, draining my cup!
Wonderful purpose, that ne’er gave me up!
Wonderful patience that waited so long!
Wonderful glory, to which I belong!

Out of my poverty, into His wealth,
Out of my sickness, into pure health,
Out of the false, and into the true,
Out of the old man, into the new,
Out of what measures the full depth of “lost!”
Out of it all, and at infinite cost!
Into, what must with that cost correspond,
Into that which there is nothing beyond,
Into the union which nothing can part,
Into what satisfies His and my heart,
Into the deepest of joys ever had,
Into the gladness of making God glad!

ZEAL FOR THE CAUSE OF GOD.

—:§:§:—

A burning untiring zeal is clearly taught in the word of God. For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake will I not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as the brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. I have set watchman upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which s..an never hold their peace day nor night: ye that, make mention of the Lord, keep not silent And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth. — Isa. 62:1, 6, 7. Some have a great amount of zeal in special meetings when everything moves to suit them, and the weather is favorable, and it is not too busy a time, and no very heavy burdens to bear, or any great sacrifice to make; yet they excuse themselves and insist on some one to sympathize with them, to ease their conscience. Brethren we wrong them, and hurt our own souls if we endorse them in their careless and half hearted way of serving the Lord. No saint is too weak to be zealous; no one too poor to do something for the Lord in some way. Circumstances will not excuse a lack of zeal. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary. — 1 Cor. 12:22. A lack of zeal, is a lack of consecration. ‘’Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith: who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despised the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” — Heb. 12:2. While the disciples were engaged in conversation about the bread that perisheth, Jesus said that He had meet that they knew not of. It is more than my meet to do the will of Him that sent me.

Some seem to rejoice greatly that they are saved from the galling yoke of babylon, but seem perfectly satisfied to allow thousands to remain in the same bondage without doing a thing to get the light to them. Even so faith if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” — Jas. 2:17. There is a marked distinction between those who have the real genuine zeal, and those who have a false zeal. “And the Lord said unto Him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst of thereof.” — Eze. 9:4. “Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes were a fountain of team, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughters of my people!” — Jer. 9:1. Some while working in meetings seem to manifest a good degree of zeal, while at other times they do not seem to have any burden for souls, and seek no opportunity to talk to anyone about the welfare of their soul. We do not mean that we should make a distasteful hobby of salvation; but we can be so filled with the love and power of God that our very presence will have a sacred influence and our words will be warm from the Spirit of God, and they will drop from our lips as coals of fire on the cold and hardened heart. Some talk too much, which is no mark of zeal, and they have but little influence.

This is an age of awful deception and mimicry; and many are out of the sects, who are trying to imitate real christian zeal. But the Lord is more than equal to the emergency, and gives His children great discernment Read Mal. 9:18. And also the zeal: “Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law. Rivers of water run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law.” — Psa. 119:53, 136. The Lord puts this seal on those that are His. We cannot be in Christ and not bear fruit. “I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing.” — Jno. 15:5. “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.” — 1 Pet. 1:8, 9. All can do something for somebody. Anyone can observe the scriptural rule, and if the Lord has nothing for you to do, then you are excused. “Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.” — 1 Cor. 16:2. In these days there is considable talk about a Bible salvation; but we cannot live it until we get it. Babylon often tells the people they ought to live right, but does not tell them that they can have that principle in them that will make it natural and easy for them to live according to God’s word. When we get right, duty is a pleasure; and we will seek to do good to others.

An artificial zeal such as the Salvation Army have, will not do in the evening right. By this false (or sect) zeal many have destroyed their lives by the friction on their mind and nerves being worked up to such an unnatural state. It not being the natural outflow of divine power, they sink down and are destroyed by the devil, often both soul and body.

I praise the Lord for the real love and zeal in my soul which comes from the great reservoir of His love. It is pure, constant, overflowing. Brethren keep humble, always in the channel of God’s will, then you need not fear fanaticism or extremes. The Lord will balance our souls by filling us full of His love, pressed down, shaken together, running over. Hallelujah!

FALSE TEACHERS.

—:o:—

JESUS says that there shall arise false Christ’s and false prophets, and shall show signs and wonders in so much that if it were possible they shall deceive the very elect. Mark 13:22, 2 Cor. 11:13. These warnings are given for God’s children, and as time advances it seems that this and other passage of Scriptures are more fully verified. False prophets and deceitful workers, are rising up in every direction, and in every form putting forth poisonous stuff stimulated by the devil deceiving many dear precious souls and blinding them so that they cannot or will not receive the truth of God, and be saved. Many are so deluded that they vainly imagine they are saved, and go on rejecting and wresting the Word of God. Some of the would be teachers of the truth, are men who were once converted, and sanctified. But have made shipwreck of faith and have become reprobates. Tit, 1:76. 2. Tim, 3:8. One of these false teachers, have risen up near Winfield Kansas, and claims to be a former of the Mellenium for the United States. Also calling himself a prophet, pretending to penetrate the future and foretelling what will transpire. This man and another one of Sedan, Kan. claim that they have a mission upon which they are entering, viz. to unite the two factions of the Holiness people. The ordinance and anti-ordinance, claiming that they accept the ordinances while it is plain by their teaching that they reject them. they hold what they call union holiness meetings and fellowship every thing in the sect line, even to Roman catholics; inviting sect preacher to preach for them: claiming that by so doing they have a better chance to preach to those in the ”so called churches.” Dearly beloved God does not call for any such union as this. God’s people are united and of one mind. 1 Cor, 3:10. 2 Cor, 13:11 Phil, 2:2. And the Holy Ghost the unifier. Nowhere in the Bible can be found a call for union of such things? but we invaribly find that God unites His people, and hence no need of union meetings. Those union efforts are not of God. And we should beware of them and stand aloof from them. What concord hath Christ with Belial, or what part hath He that beleiveth with an infidel, and what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? 2 Cor. 6:15, 16. What right has God’s children to enter into union with those who have in the past and now reject God’s Word, and turn aside unto doctrines of devils. The only way that those persons can get the fellowship of God’s saints, is to repent, and turn from darkness to light; from the power of satan to God. To get saved and sanctified, and then they will have all the union they need. Dear saints beware of these union holiness meetings, they are the devils fly traps to catch souls and to pull the chains of everlasting darkness upon them. This prophet of the United States, (at Winfield) as he calls himself is filled with hatred, malice and jealousy toward God’s true saints, especially those who do not fall in with his views and ways of working. He is constantly back-biting, and telling exagerating stories about some who are in the holiness work; denouncing Bro’s Warner and Haner as sect builders, and those who are saved through their labors as Warner and Hanerites. This man seems to be one of the clouds spoken of in Jude 12, without water, carried about of winds, trees whose fruit wither, without fruit, twice dead plucked up the roots. Raging waves of the sea foaming out their own shame Wandering stars to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. These are murmurers and complainers, walking after their own lusts, and their mouths speaking great swelling words, having mens persons in admiration because of advantage. Read the whole of Jude, and you will have a complete description of this class of men The love of God be with you. Amen!

JUDGMENT.

—‡o‡—

“FOR the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God, and if it first begin at us, what will the end be of them that obey not the Gospel of God.” —1 Pet. 4:17. Judgment begins right among God’s children. But a great many quibblers and grumblers are constantly saying, “Judge not lest ye be judged.” Oh praise the Lord, let us read that scripture and get an understanding of it. “Judge not that ye be not judged, for with what judgment ye judge ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, and considerest not the beam which is in thine own eye. Thou hypocrite, first cast the beam out of thine own eye: then (after you forsake all your own wicked” ways, and become a child of God in deed and in truth,) shalt thou see clearly to cast the mote out” of thy brother’s eye.” Read Matt 7:1-5. Well poor grumbler that Scripture gives a saint of God a right to judge. “Therefore thou art inexcusable oh man, for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemest thyself.” Why do such people condemn themselves? Because, “Thou that judgest doest the same things.” — Rom. 2:1. “And thinkest thou this oh man that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?” — Rom. 2:3. “Judge not and ye shall not be judged; condemn not and ye shall not be condemned; forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.” — Luke 6:37. In the last quotation we find the Savior talking to parties that had not been forgiven. So in all the above Scriptures, sinner’s and hypocrites only are forbidden to judge. After they get rid of their hypocrisy and sins, then they have the right to judge. There must have been grumblers in Paul’s time, for when he was writing to the Corinthian brethren, he says: “Do ye not know the saints shall judge the world.” — 1 Cor. 6:2. For what shall they judge the world? Covetousness for one thing, and even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to reprobate mind to do those things which are not convenient being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy, murder, deceit, malignity, whisperers. — Rom. 1:28, 29. “This know also that in the last days perilous times shall come.” Why? Because men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy.” — 2 Tim. 3:1, 2. What hearts men do have in them when they get covetous. The people of God are forbidden to even name covetousness. “But fornication and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you as becometh saints.” — Eph. 5:3. Jesus, while insructing the man who wanted Him to make his brother divide with him, said: “Take heed and beware of covetousness for a mans life consisteth not in the abundance which he possessed.” Read Luke 12:13-15. Let your conversation he without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have; for He hath said I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. — Heb. 13:5. Again “Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth, for where your treasure is there will your heart be also.” Read Matt. 6:19-21. There is great danger in riches, “And again I say unto you: it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. Read Matt. 19:16-21. “Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that hall come upon you. Behold the hire of the laborers, who have reaped down your fields, and the cry of them that reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabboath Read James 5:1-5. Jesus when telling about a certain rich man that pulled down his old barns — because they were too small to hold the stuff he wanted to hoard away — and builded larger, and filled them to their utmost capacity, and said: “Soul thou hast much goods laid up for thee, for many years, take thine ease: eat drink and be merry. But God said: thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee.” — Luke 12:16, 21. How many to-day have good homes and plenty around them, and money in the bank or on interest, and they hear the cry from those in the Gospel of Christ, “We are in need of more means,” O listen beloved: “but whosoever hath this world’s goods and seeth his brother in need and shutteth up his bowels of compassion against him (that is: does not give nor supply his need) how dwelleth the love of God in him?” — 1 John 3:17. Saints are to take no thought for their lives. Luke 12:22-34. “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other, ye cannot serve God and mammon.” — Matt. 6:24. Mammon means riches, wealth; so we cannot serve God and riches — wealth — or COVETOUSNESS. Let us see what the Word says about pride, “backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, PROUD.” — Rom. 1:30. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, COVETOUS, boasters, PROUD.” — 2 Tim. 3:2. Not long since, I was told that they were having a glorious revival, and that God was at work at a methodist meeting. So I went. But to my astonishment after a short exhortation by the minister, all were invited to testify to the love of God shed abroad in the heart. Of course few were saved, and few could testify that they were saved. Several arose and said: “I am try-

ing to live a Christian.” Some with feathers in their hats, and large gold chains about their necks, gold ear-rings in their ears, and all manner of ruffles, bustles etc. Read Isa. 3:18, 26. And some were so very tightly laced as to be very uncomfortable. Oh the Lord God Almighty only knows what awful suffering is caused by the unnecessary use, and tight lacing of corsets. The Word emphatically says for saints or christians to “Lay aside all filthiness, and, superfluity of naughtiness.” — James 3:21. Superfluity, means superfluous, something more than is wanted. The Word tells us what not to wear. “I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy bands without wrath and doubting. In like manner also that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shame-facedness and sobriety: Not with braided hair.” (the note in the margin has it “plaited hair.” That means to put some wreathes in with the hair as was the custom in ancient times, It does not condemn braiding the hair for convenience) gold, or pearls, or costly array, but (which becometh women professing Godliness) with good works. — 1 Tim. 2:8-10. “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold or of putting on of apparel.” read 1 Pet. 3:1-4. The Word says; “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” — 1 Thess. 5:22. In that meeting, some of the most greedy and filthy of tobacco, uses were the most prominent members. Paul says to such: “having therefore these promises dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” — Cor. 7:1. No man will deny its being a very expensive, unnecessary habit. I used the weed 7 years and the average expense was 50 cents per week. Oh praise the Lord, I am saved from the filthy stuff now, and have been for four years. If a man chews and smokes 10 cents worth per day, for 40 years it costs him without interest over $1460.00. Then 40 years with interest at 8% compounded, it reaches the enormous sum of over $6000. Oh it is awful how people will waste their means that God has given them to use to His glory.” Oh well says one: tobacco is not mentioned in the Bible anywhere. No, but filthy and filthiness are. See 2 Cor. 7:1 Eph. 6:3, 4 Jas. 1:21. Eze. 36:25. Prov. 30:20. And in the winding up of it all, he says: “Let him that is filthy be filthy still.” I do verily believe that the use of tobacco has been the cause of many a soul staying away from God. May God help all who read, to understand and let their conversation and conduct, be as becometh the Gospel of Christ. I do praise the Lord, I am saved and walking in the light as He is in the light. Your Bro. on the Lord’s side.

I praise the Lord this morning for salvation. He has saved me and I am happy in His love; I know He has prepareda land for me beyond this world of care, for I continue to trust in my blessed redeemer, praise His name for ever and ever. O I do love to live for Jesus alone; He has taken every thing out of my heart that is not of God, and I give Him all the glory. How sweet it will be when we all meet together in that happy home to sing God’s praises forever in that land of endless love. Pray for me dear saints that I may ever do the will of God in all things. There were 2 Trumpets we did not get. Your sister in Christ saved and sanctified.

Dear Trumpet Readers: — I want to say to the glory of God that I have been healed from sufferings of lungs and head which, was very great since last August. When I was taken with fever I had no doctor and took no medicine, but put my trust wholly in the Lord, to be relieved, which He did After I got able to get around I still had great pain in my head and lungs until I called on elder John L. Slagle to lay on hands, and I was instantly healed, for which I give God all the glory.

TRUTH

—§-o-§—

“Mercy and truth are met together, righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look dowm from heaven.” — Ps. 85:10, 11.

“And judgment is turned away back ward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.” — Isa. 59:14.

“And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. And after three days and a half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.” — Rev. 11:8, 11.

“What is truth?” inquired Pilate, sober,
Immersed in deep perplexity,
Trembling while in judgment over
The one his final judge must be.
He asked, but waited not the answer;
For in His majesty there stood
The truth Himself at his tribunal,
The incarnate truth of God.

Eternal Truth, thy boundless glory
The holy angels cannot sin,
But, wrapt by thy Celestial beauty,
We must this feeble tribute bring:
For all this heart hast thou enamored,
This humble soul with love enshrined:
Our life is laid upon thy altar,
All thine our body Spirit mind.

Shine on with all thy constellation.
The precious attributes of God,
Love, mercy, justice, and compassion;
For second in thy magnitude
Thou only art to love’s effulgence.
“I AM the Truth,” and “God is love.”
From both in one omnific fulness,
Proceed the streams of love above.

High honored, and from Everlasting
Thou art, O Truth, a pillar strong
Upholding Justice, faith and virtue.
Before the stars together sang
Our ill-doomed planet’s new creation.
Thy hand didst hold, on Heaven’s throne,
The balances that weighed all nations,
Upon all worlds that round thee shone.

Thou art the firm and deep foundation
Of hope, and universal good.
And on thy broad eternal bosom
Is based the awful throne of God.
The myriad stars that gem the ocean
Of boundless space, at thy command,
Pursue their even tenored motion;
And all supported by thy hand.

The clod we feeble insects cover,
Once deep submurged in angry flood,
Now hangs in short disguised probation
Upon the Truth, “the Word of God.”
The secret’s locked in Fathers bosom,
And marked in Heaven’s calendar;
But present truth gives faithful larum
That time has reached its evening star.

When first this jot of God’s dominion
Was sadly plunged in hell’s control,
Truth dropped betimes some gentle beaming
Upon the ruin of “man’s soul.’
Beneath a dark prophetic mantle
He painted hope to mortal eyes,
And on His Blood he sprinkled altars,
His coming glory symbolize.

When long expectant, earth had waited,
And all the nations musing sat,

In Heaven’s secret council chamber
Truth, love, and pity fondly met.
They kissed, as on her lonely orbit
Earth moved heavy up the skies.
And, groaning neath sin dark oppressions,
Held long their sympathetic eyes.

Then Pity broke the silence weeping,
Love, deeply moved, to justice spake,
And mercy joined her interceding
That fallen man for pity sake,
Should now he ransomed back to Heaven.
Then Truth rose up in majesty,
Thus saying, “I for man will suffer,
Here Love and Mercy offer me.

Great Spirit, give to me a body.
A proper sacrifice for sin,
And thou, O justice! sum man’s debit,
And let me surety be for him.”
Then answered Pity, Love, and Mercy,
O spread the Truth, hut not alone,
For we thy sisters will go with thee,
And rear on earth thy peaceful throne.

NEW YEARS THOUGHTS.

—:‡:—:‡:—

Dear Saints: — May God wonderfully bless, and truly keep you sweetly saved in Him evermore. Amen! The year 1889 has come and gone, with its showers of blessings, spiritually and temporally, which calls forth ceaseless gratitude and praise to our kind and loving heavenly Father. Some of our beloved brethren and sisters, have been called off the shores of time and they are now with Jesus. In the celestial climes, over the golden fields of paradise they roam, crowned with the ransomed angelic throng around the dazzling throne. Others have been sick, and have been graciously healed for which we thank God. But dearly beloved while you have been thus highly favored of God, and the pure Gospel, and holy ministry, multitudes of souls have been called off to try the realities of eternity unprepared. Oh, my brethren and sisters, multitudes of souls are being rapidly destroyed, deceived, and slaughtered through the institutions of babylon and the world driven and dragged rapidly down to perdition and endless woe and torment forever. Oh God have mercy upon, and save the living and prepare them t0 stand before thee in peace with shining garments of purity. Amen! My brethren do we all deeply and keenly realize this awful solemn and living fact, and are we indeed doing all in our reach at our command, and with the help of God, for the rescue of poor perishing, and deceived souls of men? Have we in our daily prayers and meditations, a living, burning burden for the salvation of souls? Does our hearts go out in melting, burning love, deeper each day for lost souls? Oh for an endless baptism of burning love upon our hearts the salvation of perishing souls. Though for we may wonderfully help on this great cause of God by the salvation of men from babylon and Egypt, by our constant and daily prayers, our lives, and conversation in the Lord, and pure Gospel. Beloved something else is absolutely needed to help move forward the car of salvation in the earth. Such divine agencies as the preaching of the pure Gospel by pure Holy Ghost men, but how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall, they preach except they be sent. Beloved means are needed to send them forth. D0 you know that your means belong only to God? Should we not do more for God and His cause? and there is the TRUMPET a blessed feast and edification to our souls. Have you invested those means which you might get for those ornaments of pride, for the advancement of the cause? “Will a man rob God?” Dearly beloved, let us do all we can for the publication and sending forth of free tracts among the people. Brethren let us all act now and henceforth, as never before for the advancement of the cause. Send in your donations if only 10 or 25 cts. pay up or renew your subscription. If all would send in the above named donation, it will become a great help in the cause, and more if you can. “It is more blessed to give than to receive, let him give cheerfully, not from necessity, nor grudgingly. The liberal soul shall be made fat.” Believe, act, and test it in the name of the Lord. I request all the saints to give special prayers in the Spirit with all faith, for such a general and powerful outpouring of God’s love upon Mount Zion, and such a mighty onward march, and spread of the truth and salvation in the earth, as we have not yet seen, and for showers of blessings, spiritually and temporally, upon the entire Church during the coming year, as we have not yet witnessed. Amen! Only believe in the Lord, and ye shall see His power and glory. Amen. Your saved Bro.

CONFIDENCE FORFEITED.

—:o:—

SOME time ago, a ministerial Bro. in Kan. wrote us of some very disorderly conduct of J. W. Sickles. We wrote him to avail himself of such opportunities as presented hemselves, to admonish and restore him. And now we have the sad intelligence that the man has been unwilling to confess, and repent of his unholy deportment. The Bro. writes us, as follows. J. W. Sickles exposed what manner spirit he is of, but escaped to other parts before we had learned of the facts, or we would have admonished him to his face. We wrote him, faithfully admonishing him, but he replied confessing even more inconsistencies than we had known, but tried to justify himself in it all. God has required it at our hands to expose his disorderly conduct, and to warn all saints to turn from such. He is very subtile, and deceptive.

“The saints all renounce him about here who know of his conduct.”

The Bro. sends us the letter he received from Sickles. From which we make an extract, and condemn the man from his own pen. “I acknowledge that sister — did have, and does yet have a warm place in my heart. Yes I was infatuated, and I cannot deny it. But I did not make any undue propositions. But I did give her to understand that if it should ever be in the future that we could legally marry, and it was the will of God, we perhaps would.”

Surely this was a very frank confession, and yet no confession at all, from the fact the man manifests no godly sorrow for the abominable works of the flesh. The man has a living wife, and this sister to whom he wrote stating his intense love for her, is a young single sister, and the only apology that he makes is that the above, “may have been premature.” But accuses Bro. Achor of not having salvation because he admonished him. May God deliver out much erring friend Sickles for Christs sake.

NEWS FROM THE FIELD

—‡***‡—

Bangor, Mich.

In November Last, we went to South Haven to assist Bro. S. Michels in the work of the Lord at that place. Bro. Michels had preached the pure Gospel to the people a few years before, and a number accepted the light, and received salvation; but some of them not being throughly established and not properly discerning the body of Christ, were subjects of prey to the Free Methodists, and to the anti-ordinance, anti holiness, destructive sect heresy, and were led captive, ..n a measure by the ..ing ..ess of the enemy; and no marvel, for when evangelists come among God’s little ones who are somewhat ignorant of satan’s devices, and preach holiness, and declare that they did not intend to organize, holding up hands etc., acting and testifying as they were in the habit of doing, is it any wonder they should get a little tipsy on the sect wine? also hearing others preach a straight forward anti-sect doctrine, but afterward discovering that they denied the ordinances of God’s Church. Well, we found them in a mixed and confused state; but we do praise the name of our God, that when the Word was preached to them, we found them honest enough to see and rectify mistakes; a number of them reconsecrated, and were wonderfully blessed. We left the Church in a fair condition. Bro. M. Miner was ordained elder. We wish to add that the Lord had shown some of them during the past year before we went there, that (here was something wrong and seemed to be waiting for an opportunity to square up to the Word. May the good Lord ever bless and keep them unspotted from the world, is our prayer. Amen!

Grand Junction, Mich., Jan. 27, 1890.

We are at present holding meeting at this place. The Lord is working in the hearts of the people. Bro. Mendenhall and wife from Canton Ohio were with u.. over Sabbath: they returned this morning to their home with joy and gladness in their hearts; he with the sanctifying, and she with the justifying power. Sister Mendenhall, and Bro. John White were buried with Christ by baptism yesterday, (Sabbath.)

O the sweetness and completeness of perfected holiness which we enjoy. The meetings will probably continue for some time yet.

grace, and they are strong in the Lord. We have been here four weeks, and Oh how He has made us to know what He will do for His little ones who trust in Him. Two have been sweetly saved since we came here, and quite a number are ready to be baptized as soon as Bro. Sanford comes.

The sects are looking on in much wrath, but glory to God for the power He gives us to put them to flight by pouring living spiritual fire upon them through the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven. The Lord has enabled sister Pence to help me in the work.

Your Sister in Christ.

—:o:—

Hedrick, Ia., Jan. 22, 1890.

Dear Brethren: — Dec. 24th Bro. J. W. Byers of Ill. came to our place with the expectation of laboring in the vineyard of the Lord as long as He should lead. We had meeting a few nights in our neighborhood which the Lord blessed in the strengthening of the saints. On the 27th we went 12 miles east of Hedrick where we set the battle in array against sin and all isms of night. As there were no arrangements for meeting till Saturday night, and a sect calling themselves the “Church of Christ in Christian Union,” was having meeting near by, we concluded to go and hear what they had to say. They had held two weeks with a cold, dead, lifeless form without any move or manifestation of power. And no wonder, since their preacher is so zealous in opposing the truth of God. When they gave the opportunity for testimony, I asked the special privilege of giving in my experience which was granted. When we began to tell how we were lost in sin, and the Spirit of God had found us out, and led us to Christ more than 20 years ago; and how the proneness in our hearts to wander from God, had caused us to go away from Him and backslide; and as I proceeded with my experience this man commanded me to stop. But the glory of God was in our souls and the power of God was resting on us so that we paid no attention to his threatenings although he had hold of our arm. But when I said that on the night of the 21st of August, just two months after I was reclaimed — I died out to the world, it was too much for him. He seized me by the coat collar with his right hand, and with his left he grasped my beard and chucked me under the chin so as to try to choke me. The Lord kept us most blessedly and sweetly saved in the midst of this scene of confusion. Yea we never even thought of raising our hands to defend ourself, or to free us from his slimy grasp. We simply stopped in our testimony long enough to say, “God Almighty commands you to take your hands off,” which he did at once in obedience to the command. O hallelujah to God and the Lamb, just for being permitted to suffer for His names sake. Truly God was with the saints, as they all kept perfectly quiet, while this babylon priest and nearly all of his sect that were present acted more like they were in a drunken row in a saloon than in the house of God. In the midst of this confusion we walked out singing praises to God for salvation full and free. Of all the sects of our acquaintance, this C. U. is the most unchristian-like of any. Born in rebellion, fed by division, and unholy opposition to the truth. From all such union WITHOUT Christ, we are most gloriously delivered. All this had a most glorious effect in opening the eyes of the people to see who is in the order of God. We continued meeting over two weeks at Carter’s School-house in the same neighborhood with glorious results, with overflowing house almost all the time and deep conviction on the people. Many were made to yield to the moving of the blessed Spirit, and a great work has been done for which we praise God, and give Him all the glory. Much prejudice has been broken down, and many souls who were honest at heart, and sincere in their motives have been enabled to see the truth, and to assert their liberties in Christ Jesus. Bro. Byers went to Haysville and held three or four meetings, after which he returned home. At present we are at home; the dear Lord permitting the hand of affliction to be laid somewhat upon myself and family. We are trusting Him and we feel that he will restore us to health again. We hope soon to commence the battle in the name of King Jesus. Pray for us that the Lord may keep us low down at the foot of the cross filled with the love and power of God. Yours in the holy war, saved in Jesus, free from all sin and confusion.

C. Z. Lindley.

NOTE.

If, in the above, the Spirit led to go into babylon, it would hardly license a person to do so except by the direct leadings of the Spirit, for the purpose of giving light or gettingsomething to use to the glory of God.

It is not wisdom to insist upon our say so in any babylon meeting after the powers that be order us to stop.

Roanoke, Ind., Jan. 7,1890.

Dearly Beloved Saints: — We begun meeting about 3 miles east of Auburn, Dec. 27. In about one week there were 30 consecrations, and about all of whom got the victory, and a bright evidence of their acceptance Some shouted, others clapped their hands, laughed, wept, and leaped for great joy, and others were prostrated because of the mighty power of Christ, and laid like dead upon the floor. Hallelujah! 17 were buried with Christ in baptism, which was a most heavenly time. Sabbath evening we met, and celebrated the ordinance of God’s house; brethren it was a time better felt, and realized, than described. 24 saints participated; several were detained from the ordinance because of certain circumstances. Bro. Wm. McGinnis was chosen of the Lord, recognized by the Church and ordained elder, Bro. Wm. Lahnum deacon of the Church at Auburn, also our beloved Bro. George F. Reed, whom God has been strongly calling and convicting to preach the Gospel. He and his beloved wife made a perfect consecration, and determined to fully obey, and launch out in the order of God. At the last meeting there were 3 glorious cases of healing through the mighty power of God. Three more will be baptised in the near future. We will return to Auburn as God permits, and renew the battle, for we left many under conviction. Oh may God continue to use the saints in the salvation of souls, and ever truly keep them in peace, love, and Bible unity. We will go to Antwerp, Ohio as soon as God permits, probably the last of Feb. We begin meeting here to-night, to continue 2 weeks or more. Your Bro. sanctified wholly.

Columbia City, Ind., Jan. 23, 1890.

THE Roanoke meeting begun the 7th inst, and many were convinced of the truth, and there were about 20 consecrations. Our dear Bro. Gardner died the death, and received a glorious victory. May the Lord use him to His glory. There were 3 baptised, and there were also several cases of healing. Dear sister Ida Frehafer was healed of a bad lung trouble of 18 years standing. We are now holding meetings in the Universalist meeting house, and expect to continue meetings about four weeks. There has been 4 consecrations already. Let all the dear saints pray that we may have a glorious success for God in this city. Our dear Bro. Leininger, Gast and Koffel are now with us in the work.

Sidney, O., Jan. 15, 1890.

Dear Brethren: — The meeting closed at this place with victory on the Lord’s side. When we came here we found that the enemy had been at work and had sown the seed of discord and overthrown the faith of some; but praise God most all were restored. Several consecrations for pardon, and about all those who recieved pardon consecrated for and were sanctified wholly. From here we went to Newhampshire Auglaize Co. and began meeting Jan. 7th. Two sought for pardon the first night, and one the next day. Our hearts were comforted and strengthened by the coming of dear Bro’s Wm. G. Schell and O. Bolds whom the Lord wonderfully used in preaching the Word and laboring through the meeting. The meeting was a success, not-withstanding the abundance of rain and very bad roads, a few were converted, and some of the same sanctified. (Jesus kept the record) Some came short of the glorious experience, but we pray God to help them to push forward into the promised Canaan. Monday I returned to this place where I had left my family, leaving Bro. Geo. Howard (who had accompanied me to Newhampshire from this place) and Bro’s. Schell and Bolds to continue the meeting as the Lord directs. We met with the little Church at this place Monday night, and 3 more were at the mercy seat, 2 for pardon and 1 for sanctification. Let all the dear saints pray for the Church at this place. Your Bro. and sister sanctified wholly, and ready for the whole war. Saved from all sin just now Dear ones pray for us that the dear Lord may keep us very humble and use us to His honor and glory and to the salvation of many precious souls, Hallelujah to Jesus! Amen!

Auburn, Ind., Jan. 6. 1890.

Dear Brethren: — We feel led of God to write our testimony for the Lord. We are saved just now and kept by the mighty power of God, sanctified wholly to the Lord, to do His whole will. We had a glorious meeting here which closed last night. Obeying God in the ordinance of the Lord’s supper and feet washing. The Lord sent Bro F. N. Jacobson here Dec. 27th, and he preached the straight word of God, to saint and sinner, and there was much good done in the name of the Lord. The Church was more firmly established, and sinners were converted and others were convicted of the truth of God, and backsliders returned to God. Saturday, Jan. 4th, there were 17 buried with Christ in baptism. Some that came out of babylon did obey God wherein He says: “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent do the first works, or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place except thou repent.” — Rev. 2:4, 5. Pray for the saints at this place that they may be kept low at the feet of Jesus, ready to work as God has placed us in the body. Amen!

Union Grove, Ill., Jan. 24, 1890.

Dear Saints: — Once more I feel led to report through the TRUMPET, that I am saved and sanctified, and filled with the power and glory of God, and that the Lord is using me to His glory in preaching His precious Word. Since my last report, I assisted dear Bro. Palmer in a meeting at South Haven Mich. which was one of great profit, and much good was done in bringing the people together. Some who were intermingled with the anti-ordinance element were gloriously delivered. Others were reinstated in God’s favor. After observing the ordinances and ordaining an elder we closed the meeting with victory, and from there I went to Kendall, Mich. where the Lord gave us a glorious victory. Many of the saints received the establishing Grace, others were reclaimed, who had backslidden, and several were converted who had never professed salvation before. After the close of the meeting I returned home for a few days, and on the 17 of Jan. started for this place, and was met at the train by Bro. and sister Daniels who conveyed us to their home. We have been in battle against the powers of darkness, and some who have been in the bondage of satan have been made free. Praise God for victory in my soul just now! Our hearts were refreshed by the coming of Bro. J. W. Byers, whom the Lord is using in this western country. Many doors are being opened here for the Word of the Lord to be sounded forth. “Ye that make mention of the Keep not silence.” And give him no rest, till he establish Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” Now dear saints pray for me that I may fill my place in the body. I am ready for what ever the Lord has for me. Yours in the love and patience of Jesus.

Palmyra, Mo.

Dear Brethren: — God bless you and keep you saved. Amen! At our last report we had just commenced a meeting at Edgar Springs which continued nearly 3 weeks with grand success. There were about 12 consecrations for pardon which seemed very clear in experience. Some of the number went on to perfection, and we trust they will never have to lay again the foundation of repentance. On Christmas day there were 6 buried with Christ by baptism. O it was a heavenly sight to see the dear ones following the Lamb, and the precious Son of God witnessing to the obedience of His children. Every one seemed to tell us by their firm and resolute actions that they were dead to and separated from sin forever. We do give God all the glory and praise for the many souls He saved in this country. This is a place where holiness has never before been taught. And we hope that God’s ministers will not forget to visit the dear saints at his place. The dear saints at Edgar Springs desire to have some fire baptized ministers to stay with them for some time. If there is anyone who feels led to fill the call, please inform Bro. Calvin F. Floyd of Edgar Springs, Mo.

From there we came to Palmyra, Mo. where we are now having meeting. This leaves us well and praising God for complete salvation. O bless His name.

Pray for us.

Dear Brethren: — God be with you all. Amen. We closed meeting at Cook’s Station Monday night with grand results. The meeting at that place was a complete victory for Jesus, not the best of order because of great crowds. But God did manifest His power in saving souls. In most cases the work was deep. The last day of the meeting we had a very precious time at the waters edge, where nine dear souls followed Christ in the ordinance of baptism. all were made happy in obeying the Lord. Others ought to have been buried with Christ but waited for other opportunity. God bless all the dear ones and keep them from falling. We left them out of sect confusion, and in a fine condition. Praise the Lord! Our souls were so filled with the glory of God, while at that place, hallelujah! we had meeting at this place last night, the house here is very large, but all the standing room was occupied last night, with earnest listeners. We are yours sanctified wholly; enroute for glory. Amen, hallelujah!

Bravo, Mich. Jan. 21 1890.

Dearly Beloved in Christ: — Grace and peace be multiplied unto you. I thank God for perfect peace in my soul. The meeting closed here on last Lord’s day with glorious victory in our souls. God did wonderfully manifest himself in this meeting. We found much prejudice in the hearts of the people, through the false reports that had been circulated by the enemy, but God enabled us to so present the truth, that they were forced to acknowledge that it was the truth of God. Oh praise God for this true Gospel of Christ. That is sure to cut its way through. Those here who were professing Christ though lacking in their souls were honest at heart, and instead of fighting the truth, as many profesers do, they were willing to humble themselves and to measure themselves by thus saith the Lord. The first time we set out an altar there were seven souls presented themselves for the pardon of their sins. Halleujah! That which comes from the heart will surely reach the heart During the meeting quite a number of souls were saved although not as many as we hoped to see, as many were not willing to yield to the drawing of the Spirit. We hope in the near future to see many more yield to God. On Thursday we were reenforced by Bro. Barney Warren and sisters Frankie Miller and Nannie Kigar. Praise God for laborors that are willing to work for God. On Saturday evening our souls were made to rejoice by the appearance of a number of brethren from Grand Junction. Bro. Warner being among the number. He also remained with us until the close of meeting. May God keep the little ones at this place steadfast. From here we expect to go to Grand Junction to help in the work there. Dear ones pray for us that God will keep us continually.

Your brother saved and kept.

Mariasville Pa.

Dear Trumpet Readers: — God bless you all. Amen! From Blanco we went to Shellhammer church about four miles from Cochran’s Mill where we commenced publishing salvation in the name of Jesus Christ our Saviour. There was but little open opposition to the truth of the Gospel yet there was much pejudice and superstition among the people, which began to be removed by the Word of truth which was poured out on the people copiously. The Lord wonderfully blessed in administering His Word, and there were many convinced of the truth, but only a few had moral courage to break away from sin and gel saved. Praise God! He has planted the truth in that place so firmly that the devil can not remove it very easily. Glory to Jesus! our prayer to God is that he will continue to bless the people there, with conviction, and especially those poor victims of priest craft who oppose themselves by taking sides with the devil against their own souls, and against the saints of God by slandering and persecuting them. God pity their awful ignorance through which the devil makes them think, they can stop the work of God by thus treating His people. They ought to know when they slander and persecute any one that they are not under the influence of the Christ Spirit but under that spirit which caused Him to be persecuted. Now God help the poor deceived servants of corruption to read the following Scriptures, viz.

  1. The fate of the deceived. Matt. 7:21-23.
  1. The fate of those who ill treat Christ’s brethren. Matt. 25:31-46.
  1. Who His brethren are. Luke 8:19-21.
  2. Those whom Christ is not ashamed to call His brethren. Heb. 2:11.

Let the dear saints read the following Scriptures and take courage.

  1. Concerning reward. Mark 10:28-30.
  2. Persecution and reproach. 1.Tim. 3:10-12. 1.Pet. 4:12-16.
  1. Suffering affliction. 2 Cor. 4:17, 18.
  2. Remember Jesus says: Matt. 5:10-12. Matt. 5:43-45.

Paul gives us to understand that the only thing God’s people are allowed to do to their enemies, in the way of punishment, is to heap coals of fire on their heads. Be careful to put the coals on the way the apostle says. See Rom. 12:20.

Your saved brethren in Christ.

Dear Saints: — God bless you and multiply His grace and peace unto you abundantly. Amen! As I have not spoken to you for a time I feel it my duty to give a brief sketch, of the Lord’s dealings with me since Camp meeting. I have passed through the furnace it seemed the severest I ever encountered. The devil tempted and God proved me, and found me a failure; but glory to Jesus, who said my grace is sufficient, proved in me, more than a match for the devil, so I through Him, am more than a conqueror. The fire purifies and brightens. Glory to God! I realize I am enjoying a greater depth of the pure grace of God than ever before in my life. Praise God! God has taught me a wanderful lesson of faith, that I never heretofore understood. Oh praise God! I would not exchange it for all this world.

I have labored as follows; Preached some about home; then God moved me to go to Atlanta. The devil tried to get me to turn back even after I had started, but rebuked him and went to battle and begain meeting at Evergreen School-house. And I want to say to glorify God, I never realized that God used me as He did there to preach the awful Word. So that the leader of a schism there could not stand the Word, and would not come out for awhile. But God wonderfully blessed the Word, and those who were willing to be straight with it accepted it. After this I preached at Torrance a few times with good order and attention, thence to Bro. Loucks School-house near Burden. God wonderfully blessed the work at Zion, and several were saved. We had a blessed ordinance meeting at Bro. Reynold’s after which we started for this place to begin battle for God to night. The Lord willing with my daughters Mattie and Mintie, in a campaign for God and heaven. God is wonderfully saving and leading me out into deep things. Praise God forever and ever. Pray for us that God may keep and supply all our needs. Yours for a pure Gospel, sanctified wholly by the blood of Jesus. Amen!

Odon, Ind.

Dear Saints: — I feel led of God to write my testimony and experience. About 16 years ago God pardoned me of my sins, and I received a witness to the same, in about 4 weeks from that time I was a backslider. Shortly afterwards I repented again, and again received pardon of my sins and soon backslid again, and suffered in my conscience terribly on account of my sins. About this time a copy Of “Memoirs of Hester Ann Rogers” came into my hands, which was the first hint that I had recieved on the doctrine of sanctification, for which I bless the name of God. Fresh courage sprang up in my heart and I began to seek earnestly for the blessing, for I believed it to be simply a great and wonderful blessing than that of justification, and God wonderfully blessed me, and I thought for a time that I had recieved the fulness of the blessing; but not having anyone to teach me, I soon gave way again, and I have led an up and down life ever since. Finally the Lord sent dear Bro. Warner in this country to preach the word which I gladly recieved and sought and claimed the blessing, but I did not know how to possess the Lord. Not having the wisdom and depending too much on the manifestations of the Spirit in my soul instead of walking by faith. Also some false teaching by some who professed to be in the faith, caused me to turn aside, and the devil made me believe it was impossible for me to live acceptable in the sight of God, and I give up trying. But praise the lord! He put in the mind of Bro. Warner to write on “WANDERING STARS” which seemed to picture my case so well that I feared my soul was eternally lost, and I began to enquire of the Lord whether there was any place of repentance for me or not, and God in His great mercy showed me there was, and He pardoned me of all my sins and in a few days afterwards gave me a clear witness of a pure heart, for which God shall ever be praised. God is bringing me through great temptations and trials; but praise the Lord I am on the Alter and He is faithful that promised and I just praise God for a complete salvation through Christ my Lord. Amen!

Dear Saints of God: — I do praise God for salvation It has delivered me from all sinful desires. I have sweet peace in my soul. Beloved in the Lord — I have enjoyed many precious seasons reading the testimonies of the Saints, and feel this morning that the time has come to add my “mite”. I find that while resting in the “sweet will of God” it is “better on before” continually. Praise God! I love to light in the battles of the Lord, and I am enjoying a sweet deliverance from “the man-fearing spirit” which was an affliction to me, now I can say with the ransomed throng: Perfect love casteth out fear, glory to God who giveth us the victory. I am out on the promise and under the blood. Sanctified wholly, glory to God. Yours in the bonds of Christ.

Dear Brethren in Christ: — May the richest of God,s Blessings rest upon you all. The Church is in good order here and truly the Lord is adding to the Church such as should be saved. Praise his name; there has been 6 souls saved here since Christinas, and two of that number was my wife and daughter. Praise the dear Lord, I am saved and realize that the Lord is filling me with all his fullness, and feel the hand of God resting upon me to go in to the great vineyard. Dear saints pray for us here that we may keep true. Your brother in the body, walking in the light, and being kept from all sin, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. After a long and dangerous voyage on the great ocean of sin and confusion like the prodigal son feeding on the husks that the swine had trampled under their feet, starving for the Bread of life. I heard the voice of my Father, saying: “come unto me all that are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. Praise the Lord, I came with a broken spirit and a contrite heart, and He did receive me and I can say this morning that I am feasting on the bread of life and my soul is satisfied. I am saved and sanctified to all the will of God with eternal freedom and victory in my soul. Pray for me that the Lord may keep me ever true to Him in all things.

Dearly beloved saints of the Most High. — I feel like the dear Lord would be pleased in me writing my testimony to the Trumpet. The dear Lord sweetly saves and keeps me from all sin, Praise His dear name. I have just been reading the Trumpet. Oh how it thrills my soul with joy to read so many fire baptized testimonies from God’s little ones, and them which are running to and fro and gleaning in precious souls for the Lord; may God wonderfuly bless and keep them from all forms and ways of man. I am rejoicing in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made me free. Though trials and temptations may come but they work out a more exceeding and eternal weight of glory to our soul if we stand through them all. Oh hallelujah to God for the victory, and peace that flows through my soul. I ever expect to abide in Christ because it is meet and drink, to do His will. From your Bro, in Christ, saved and sanctified wholly.

Dear Saints and Readers of the Gospel Trumpet: — May the dear Lord bless and keep you, is my prayer, Amen. The Lord is keeping me every moment of my life. My soul says praise ye the Lord for this wonderful salvation, which is unspeakable and full of glory. I am so glad that I was willing to accept this glorious evening light. All glory be to Jesus forever and ever. O how I realize that we are in the last days, when we see sin on every side, people blaspheming the name of Jesus, and many falling away. Well may we say the harvest is great and the laborers are few. “God has a Church established here that is willing to obey His Word. I am redeemed by the blood of Jesus and meet for the Master’s use, sanctified, made white, and tried. Praise the Lord for calling me out of babylon, and I have no desire to go back to her. I have victory over all the works of the devil; O my soul is filled with the power of God while writing. O what glory fills our souls when we obey God; His yoke is easy. His burden is light, we find it so wherever we go. Some have lost the peace and joy by looking at the crookedness of others. False prophets and teachers have been among us and deceived some, and being deceived themselves, whom we felt that God had called to have the oversight of the Church, but also they have been deluded and led astray. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might he made manifest that they were not all of us. They have gone into a sect pen. Dear ones let us keep our eye straight on the Lord. The dear Lord has made choice of brother L. A. Pierce to preach the everlasting Gospel. We have much opposition, and the powers of darkness are over the people. We need your prayers.

Dearly beloved saints: — May the dear Lord wonderfully bless you all. To-day finds me saved and kept by the power of God. O how I do love to work for God. I know by His Spirit that I have been redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, and am walking in the light as He is in the light. I praise God that I am free from all sects and sectish babylon. I am free from tea, coffee and tobacco; the dear Lord cleansed me from all. O praise God! O for more workers in the vineyard of the Lord. I do praise God for a safe place of refuge in all time of need, and trouble. O I can not praise God enough for saving my soul, and keeping me in the true light. Blessed Jesus, He is our all and in all. He is the author and finisher of our faith. Praise God!

DEAR brothers and sisters: — I am saved and sanctified wholly, ready to see the Lord come in the clouds. Glory he to His name He saves me all the time; and I thank the Lord for a present salvation. Glory be to Jesus. I was once low down in sin, but Christ did not want me to go to hell, so He reached down and lifted me out. Oh how wonderful, He just picks them out of the mire and clay, and places them on a solid place. Glory be to His name! I feel good in my soul. O praise, the Lord; I would like to see everybody saved, then it would be a heaven to go to heaven in; for if we are christians we will love each other. The Bible says: without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Then if we want to see the Lord, we must live holy; and if we are not holy we cannot see the Lord. He says He will come as a thief in the night. I want to be ready to be caught up in the clouds to meet Him. The Bible says the prayers of the rightous availeth much. I want all the saints to pray for me that I stand firm for Jesus.

Your brother in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — I do praise God for His mighty keeping power, that still keeps me saved, washed and redeemed through His precious blood; through every thing that is brought to bear upon me, He keeps me all His own. Oh I do praise His great and holy name for His mercies to me and His precious promises He has given unto us that He will never leave nor forsake us. Glory be to God for salvation! He saves and sanctifies me just now. Pray for me. Your sister saved and sanctified.

I feel led of the Lord to testify that He has blotted out my transgressions, and has saved me from all sin. Glory to Jesus! He has said: he that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out. These words are truth, for I was the chief of sinners, but Jesus died for me, and saved my soul. I am dead to the world and its pleasures, and now I enjoy the Lord. Oh wondrous grace, how great the change, my soul now takes her joyful range, mid scenes of beauty in the light. Now I would say to all who are not saved, that Jesus is calling now, and invites you to give up all and follow Him.

He will not accept half an offering. He says: come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Glory to Jesus! I have found that rest and I want others to follow. I would say to every one, never join any thing but the Lord. Get into the Church of which Christ is the door, and whin He opens no man can shut, and He shutteth and no man can open. And when you get in, remember there is no sin there. You must live to please God every day. He wants all His children to obey His commandments, and they are not grievious. Praise the Lord, for a willing mind to do His will.

Your Bro. in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — We are saved just now by the power of God. Glory to Jesus for salvation. We do praise God the blessed evening light, which is a flowing river springing up in our souls continually. We praise Him for sending the dear ones from Hendersonville, to show the true Church, the Body of Christ. Bro. Powell and Bro. Turner held a meeting near here last summer, and much good was done in giving light to the people, and much more good can be done yet, and trust God will send some one here this winter to work for Him, for we do feel that there can be a great work done here. We meet together at our regular prayer meetings, which is food to our souls, for His love is shed abroad in our hearts. Hray for us, your Bro. and sister in Christ,

Dear Saints: — We want some one sent of God, to come here and preach to the people, for there are a great many here that will come out of the sect if they have the true Gospel preached to them. If any will come write and let me know. I want all God’s people to pray for me that I may be saved and sanctified.

Dear Brethren: — I have been impressed to write my testimony. Bless God to-night I can say that I am saved in Jesus, and that I am all on the altar and fully realize that the altar sanctifies the gift. Glory be to Jesus that He has called me out into the blessed evening light. Hallelujah to Jesus! Out of babylon, and babylon out of me, and on the Bible line for heaven. There are a few saints here at this place all filled with the Holy Spirit We have rejoicing times at our prayer- meetings. Oh I am so thankful that I belong to the Church of the first-born. Glory be to God He is leading me.

Dearly Beloved Saints: — My testimony is that I am still saved in God with a firm hope in Him. I am still preaching the Word of God wherever I have opportunity to do so, and realize the deep things of God more and more all the time. O how God does show us the corruption among the people when we are willing to come out and stand alone for Jesus. It costs something to do this, but His yoke is easy and His burden is light, I’ve found it so. Well I thank God for this blessed work of grace in my heart which is steadfast in all time of trial and trouble. When we are in favor with God we can ask for whatever we need, and we shall have it. God is well pleased, with His children if they only walk in the light. Last Sunday I was led by the Spirit to visit a sick sister, and we prayed and laid on hands and the fever immediatlely left her so she could get out of her bed, and praise the Lord. And we were wonderfully blessed while the sick one was healed. Praise the Lord for His wonderful kindness.

Dear Saints: — I do praise God for full and free salvation. My soul is full of His love, and I am all on the altar. About 10 years ago the Lord pardoned me of my sins, but I did not rely on Jesus enough and was not faithful unto Him, and tried to run away from Him, but He brought me back and showed me where I was. The enemy of my soul almost persuaded me to take my life, but the dear Lord saved me. Oh what glorious peace and satisfaction there is in serving God. I feel led to work for the Master. I was baptized and the Lord wonderfully blessed my soul. O praise His name! I am quite young yet but am on the solid Rock, and intend to serve Him the rest of my life. It makes me feel so solemn to look around and see so many out of the ark of safety. May God have mercy on them. Dear saints, let us be firm and valiant for the truth. And be up and at work for Him. Your brother saved and sanctified, and kept by the power of God.

Dear Saints: — May the Holy Ghost ever keep you and lead you in all truth and righteousness. As I am here so far from the Saints of God, I feel led to write. It does me so much good to read the gospel truths from the brethren. May God help us all to spread abroad the straight Word of God. O how I thank God that some of the children of Israel have the true way of salvation. Glory to Jesus! He can teach us with His Spirit by the power of the Holy Ghost. O how we love to hear from all of the saints. This proves the unity of the spirit, the oneness in Christ, if we love to read those epistles from each of the brethren so well, and it fills our hearts with joy O how much more we will rejoice when we meet it, that city, the new Jerusalem. O what love, what joy, when we meet with those who are washed in the blood of the Lamb. Glory to Jesus! We know that all have overcome the evil one, and walk in newnes of life, belong to Christ and are heirs of the Kingdom. O to be a of companion Jesus, to be a son of God. O to be an angel of light. O how we do thank God for the Holy Spirit to keep us. We do pity those poor deceived ones who try to live a Christian life without the Holy Spirit. O for the sake of Jesus Christ let us spread the Holy Ghost truths as fast as the wings of faith can carry them. We know we belong to Christ by the Holy Spirit He gives us and we love the brethren. What a happy family when all at home around the throne of God with the King of Glory. Jesus bought us with His blood He lays the arm of protection around us and helps us out of the grasp of satan. Bro. Dawes and I held meetings at Snake river some time ago; there was 1 soul saved. I am here holding meeting in the name of Jesus having good attendance. Dear saints pray that God may save souls here. Pray for me that I may do some good here and be blessed with success in doing the work for Jesus. Your Bro. in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — I praise God for a salvation that keeps me saved from all sin and the world, and when we continue to look to Jesus He will help us to stand the storms of this life and overcome the devil with all his host. I am so glad for an experience that measures up to the bible and when anything is shown us that is backed up by the Holy Ghost then we know it is of God I praise God for the leadings of His holy Spirit, for He has promised to lead ns in all truth and righteousness. I praise His holy name for it. In September I was led to read the old Bible, and at Christmas I got through it, and I am so glad for the knowledge I received. The Word says: if we lack knowledge, to ask of him who giveth liberally and upbraideth not. Praise his name! Your Bro. and sister in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — I want to say to the glory of God, that He saves just now. I went to the Lord and confessed all my sins, and felt that He did forgive me, and then I gave my body a living sacrifice to Him and He wonderfully sanctified my soul. Pray for me that the Lord will keep me always true to Him that I may lead others into the light.
