Sweet Hope of the Righteous.

—:o:—

Beyond this world of toil and cares;
Beyond this veil of gloom;
There is a land, a happy land,
A place we call our home.

Beyond where stormy billows roll;
Beyond death’s chilling tide;
There is a blessed “home, sweet home,”
Where we shall e’er abide.

Oh! what a blessed hope is this,
An anchor to the soul,
And if we do our Savoir’s will,
We’ll safely reach the goal.

God says, “Ye must be born again,”
To us this truth is given;
And if we do not God’s commands,
We shall not enter Heaven.

To enter Heaven, we must be pure
And holy in God’s sight;
And every day we surely must
Be walking in the light.

Now all who in the darkness walk,
Weary and sin oppressed;
“Come unto me,” the Savior said,
And I will give you rest

Jesus invites us all to come;
He will with blessings fill
All those who come to Him, not some,
But “whosoever will.”

When trials and temptations come
We’ll trust our Savior still;
And we will all our power engage
To do His blessed will.

We’ll pray to God to keep our feet
Upon the “corner stone;”
Will give our hearts and lives to Him,
For we are not our own.

O, yes we’ll trust Him while we live!
We’ll trust Him when we die;
And then when all our work is done
We’ll reign with Him on high.

SOLDIERS FOR CHRIST.

—:o:—

THOU, therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. — 2 Tim. 2:2. It appears by the language of the Apostle, that the life of the soldiers of Jesus will have hardships to endure. If we use temporal things to figure spiritual, this surely is true. For the soldier has a great many hardships to endure, of hunger, of imprisonment and death. Paul’s experience was that of a faithful soldier, as he records in 2 Cor. 11:24-28, “Of the Jews five times received I forty strips save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; in weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the Churches.” No wonder He compares the life of a christian to that of a soldier, and says endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus. He charges Timothy also in 4th chapter 5th verse, “endure afflictions.” Praise the Lord, Paul endured all those things as a good soldier, and then said, “I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” This is not a carnal war, although we have a great many things of the world and flesh to contend with, yet it is a spiritual war. For though we walk in the flesh, Paul says we do not war after the flesh. Now if it were a carnal war we would be compelled to use carnal weapons, but our weapons are not carnal. What are they? “Mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” — 2 Cor. 10:4, 5. It is a spiritual enemy that we must fight and wrestle against. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high place.” — Eph. 6:12. Ah well! says one, how can you fight without weapons; how can you fight without actual combat, if you expect to conquer rulers, principalities and powers? In the name of the Lord by faith we will do these things. As Paul speaks of those “who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.” — Heb. 11:33, 34. These things were obtained through faith. We must fight the good fight of faith, for without faith it is impossible to please God. If we please Him, He will be with us, and if He is with us we will gain every battle. Let us have confidence toward God. We will have confidence to ward Him if our hearts condemn us not. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. – 1 Jno. 21, 22. If God is not with us we are defeated. For whatsoever things were written aforetime, were written for our learning. — Rom. 15:4. Now we find recorded in Dent. 1:42-45 that the Lord refused to be with the children of Israel in the battle because they displeased Him; but they went presumptuously up into the hill. And the Amorites came out against them and chased them as bees do, and destroyed them. The Lord went not with them. Neither will He be with us, if we displease Him. On the other hand, if He is with us we have the victory through His name. For His sake we are killed all day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. In all these things we are more than conquerors thro’ Him who loved us. Praise the Lord for ever! The Lord will fight the battles for us if we do as He commands us. As the Lord said unto Jehoshaphat: “Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you.” In order to stand to see the salvation of the Lord, we must put on the whole armor of God. Paul says, Take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all, to stand. Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace: above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. — Eph. 6:13-18. Amen!

I am am saved and sanctified and kept by the power of God.

DOES CHRIST USE CLAY?

—:o:—

A question in the world to-day is, Can Christ heal the sick and open the eyes of the blind as He did when He was in the world? All the formal and sect religions will say no, and deny a part of the Word in James 5:13-15 and John 17:20-23, and 14:12, 13, and all through the Bible. But we say He can, for His power is not limited, and His promises did not stop with the Apostles days; for He says ask what ye will and I will do it and He said these signs shall follow them that believe. Praise God! we believe the whole book and do not startle at any of His promises. Does He use clay as He did when He was here in the flesh? We say He does, only in a different form. When He made clay to anoint the eyes of the blind He spat on the ground to purify it: now He purifies clay with His own precious blood, and the regeneration of the Spirit and the renewing of the Holy Ghost; and we must be partakers of His flesh and blood. Praise God! He says, “If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ask what ye will and I will do it.” So it is Christ that does the healing by using a Lump of purified clay. Praise God for the Christ of the Bible! Now the Apostle James was looking ahead when there would come a falling away. And he spake in this language in James 5:1; “Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.” Christ says, “My sheep here my voice and they do follow me; they are not of this world even as I am not of the world. And as He is, so are we in this world. If a man hath this hope in him, he purifieth himself even as He Is pure.” Oh praise God, we know the voice of our Shepherd and we joyfully obey His commands, for they are not grievous. The fashionable religions of the world and of the sects find no pleasure in Christ. They are seeking pleasures in the world and in their festivals and frolics and their damnable carousals of the devil. When Christ comes He will not find a righteous person in any of their sects. They have all gone astray. “There is not one that doeth good, no, not one” in the 666 names.

Luke 18:8, Christ breaks out and says, “When the Son of man cometh shall He find faith on the earth?” We say no, for God is calling His people from them. When Christ comes in flaming fire, He will not find faith enough among all the names written on the earth to save one soul that is among those who have their names written on these class books in all the sects: for God will not own any who have their names written on any thing else but in the Lamb’s book of life. Oh! what an awful condition this world will be in when Christ comes. Some may want to know who will be saved. We say, all those who are crucified with Christ, and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb, and are separated from this world, and have their names only written in Heaven. There are two classes of people in the world who are looking for the coming of Christ; which make up the ten virgins. The wise will have their lamps filled with oil, trimmed and burning, which will be God’s holy people who are looking, watching and waiting in readiness for the coming of Christ. But Oh! now comes the foolish Adventist which represent the foolish virgins. And while the Bridegroom tarried at the door, all at once, at midnight, there was a cry, which was a glorious voice to the wise, and they arose with great joy to meet the Bridegroom, and they went in with Him to the marriage and the door was shut. Oh what an awful picture comes now: the foolish adventist expects to be saved, and buy oil for their lamps when Christ comes in flaming fire. But oh! they will be sadly disappointed. They will find the door shut, and will hear a voice from within. “Depart from me, ye workers of iniquity, I know you not.” The fashionable religion of the world, and common sinners are not looking for the coming of Christ. They would rather He would not come at all, for they will be overtaken when He comes, and being unprepared to meet Him they will cry for the rocks and mountains to hide them from the presence of God.

Correspondence.

—:o:—

Nashville, Kan.

To the Saints of the Most High God: — I have thought it best to add my testimony to the wonderful saving and healing power of Jesus our Savior.

Bro. G. H. Houghton held a four weeks meeting in our neighborhood, and under his teaching I saw what I lacked, and laid all on the altar and received all by faith after which Bro. Houghton laid hands on me for healing. My faith was not sufficient to receive so much at that time in all its completeness; but the work has been going on, through storm and tempest, till now my health is better than it has been for a year. Glory be to God who giveth us the victory! Glory to God for salvation that saves to the uttermost, and now, like one of old I can say: “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.”

The special effort has closed, but the work goes on; one having stepped into the fountain since its close, and others inquiring the way. Glory to Jesus! Pray for the little Church here. Your Brother.

Rising Sun, O.

Dear Brother Warner and all the dear ones with you: — The Lord bless your souls with peace, love and joy in Jesus Christ. Praise God, this evening finds me sweetly saved in Jesus and rejoicing in Him. The dear saints at this place are all saved but two; they have fallen. We are all earnestly praying that God may bring them back to the fold.

When I read your most welcome letter my mind was led back to former days when you was here with us, and for the first time we were permitted to hear the true Gospel preached. O I do praise God that I ever accepted it with all my heart; and the best of all, I have more of the power of God than I had when you was here. About one year ago I received the full anointing of the Holy Ghost. Glory to God, He abides with me continually. O I can not tell you how wonderfully the good Lord has led me ever since. O I realize that the blessed stream of salvation is getting deeper and wider as if runs through my soul. The good Lord also gave me a blessed experience in healing my body last August.

Well dear ones we are praying for you every day that God may help you and give you many souls. We all greatly long to see you once more in the flesh, if it is God’s will; we should love to see yon all at the Jerry City camp meeting. I do praise God for the sweet fellowship of the true saints of God. O dear ones pray much for us that God may wonderfully bless us here. From your sanctified Bro.

Dear Saints and Pilgrims of the Most High God: — I am impressed to write to you of my happy condition in this glorious christian life. Every day is growing brighter as I journey on my way. Every trial brings me nearer to the blessed throne of God. I still trust in His grace which is able to keep me to the end. I belong to the Church of the Firstborn which is written in Heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the Spirit of just men made perfect. Simply by obeying His Word. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. — Psa. 19:7. “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God; and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the Gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear.” 1 Pet. 4:17, 18. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. — 2 Peter 3:17.

Your Bro. in Christ.

St James, Mo.

Dear Trumpet readers: — I praise God for full and free salvation. Hallelujah to God and the Lamb for ever and ever! I want to say something about the healing faith. We have a great deal of sickness in our family, and we trusted in the Lord and He never failed to do just what He promised to do. Two cases of inflammatory rheumatism were healed of God: Praise His name! But the second attack of the same came on my little brother. As the Lord so wonderfully blessed us, we became exalted; and whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased. — Luke 14:11. As before, we called the Elders of the Church, according to the Word of God, and he was healed for a few days then got worse. We did the same as before and he got better, but not well. “According to your faith so be it unto you,” and our faith had failed to a certain extent and he lingered along for some time, and did not get much better. Some of the family would not do their duty, and the Lord did not afflict willingly but through mercy: whom He loveth, He chasteneth. At last we became so weak and undecided that we got the doctor to come and see what he could do. He took the case and gave medicine the best he knew, for a month. He seemed to get better, but got worso all at once and died in about twenty four hours. He departed this life Jan. 22.

I praise God that I am given up to His will. He says, “All things work together for good to them that love God.” The true saints of God are but few in this country. The devil is as a roaring lion, going about, seeking whom he may devour, and he is leading many astray.

Brethren, pray for us that we may ever stand as a witness for God, that we may trust the Lord better in the future than we have in the past. I have been in this glorious way about eleven months, and the way gets plainer and brighter each day. Hallelujah! I praise God for the blessed evening light.

Do not give up the Lord and go for a doctor, for we have promises in the Bible if we keep His commandments, to receive any thing that is according to His will, if we have the faith. “Search the Scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life.”

Your brother saved, sanctified and kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed.

Dear Saints: — Oh how I praise God that I am walking in the light as He is in the light, and we have fellowship one with another. Oh glory to Jesus! I am all on the altar, free from all sects. Praise God for His keeping power! May God bless all the dear saints. Your sister saved, sanctified and kept by the power of God.

Lincoln, Mo.

To all the dear saints greeting: I am blessedly saved this morning. I was converted about 15 years ago and joined the Presbyterians and lived in that sect about two years; then joined the M. E. sect, and have been a member ever since, and never heard holiness preached or taught as a Bible doctrine until recently. But glory to Jesus! He sent Bro. and sister Cole here to show us the true light on His Word. Praise His holy name for the glorious light I have received, and by His help I will improve my talents. Glory be to God! My name is written in Heaven. Hallelujah! Give Him all the glory. I am wholly sanctified, standing firmly on the Rock, and I am determined by the grace of God to walk in the straight and narrow way that leads to life everlasting. Glory be to Jesus! He is my physician. Dear saints pray for me that I may keep sweetly saved at Jesus’ feet. May God bless all His dear children everywhere. Amen! Your saved sister.

Walkerton, Ind.

To the Gospel Trumpet family greeting: May the God of our salvation bless and keep you spreading the glorious Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ that many precious souls who are now in darkness may come to the blessed evening light and be saved from all sin. Glory be to God forever and ever! Amen! Dear ones I do praise God for His mighty keeping power. I am so glad that we can live in this world without sin, for we are to follow His footsteps in whom there was no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth, and because as He is so are we in this world. — 1 Jno. 4:17. Well I do praise God from the depths of my soul for this glorious way. Though I am very poor in this world’s goods, an I have trials to contend with, yet when I remember that Jesus became poor that we might be made rich, and that He was tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin, and then the glorious promise that His grace shall be sufficient, and in every temptation He would make a way for our escape. And again, He will never leave us nor forsake us. Through these precious promises we are enabled to rejoice even in the trials. God says He will have a tried people. We are to be tried as gold tried in the fire. Bless God’s holy name! He says again, Think it not strange concerning the fiery trials which are to try you. Therefore we will rejoice ever more and in every thing give thanks. Bless the Lord! I am saved, sanctified and kept down under the blood. Your brother in the bonds of love and peace. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the communion of the Holy Ghost be with yon all. Amen!

NEWS FROM THE FIELD.

-:o:-

AFTER leaving Wayland Neb. we came to Table Rock Pawnee Co. Neb. where we had a joyful meeting, and heavenly greeting, with the beloved saints. O how our hearts did leap for joy. We found the little ones in the Spirit, and growing stronger in the Lord. We stayed a few days and held meeting, when God saved a few souls, and several of the saints consecrated and got more fully established in holiness. We had a very precious ordinance meeting at dear Bro. and sister Carmichael’s house.

Having been called to visit the Church of God at Meriden Kan., we next went there and spent about one week. We enjoyed this visit with the little ones, some of whom we had meet at the Chanute camp meeting last summer. The saints were strengthened generally, some received a better experience, three were baptized, and two sisters received the laying on of hands and anointing for healing just before we left. We pray God that their faith may triumph over the power of the adversary, and constantly hold the faithful promise of God.

Again we took the train at Meriden, Kan. at 3:10 in the afternoon April 5, and coming via. Atchison and Quincy to Fulton Ill. without any delay, arriving the next day at 1 P. M. O how wonderful the age in which we live. Glory to Jesus! A person can see more of the world, and spread the precious light of God farther abroad now, in a few years than the Apostles could in a life time. We were happy to meet our dear beloved Bro. Knight at his prairie home four miles east of Fulton, and he leaped and skipped like a lamb to see us. Hallelujah!

The next day we all came eleven miles south to Bro. A. Byers whose house is a happy home for the war-worn pilgrims. The people are receiving the Word with much interest. After several days work here, and as long at Bro. Knight’s neighborhood, we go on homeward: for there is a great deal to do at home. Some small works to print, and the new song book. Anthems from the Throne. Praise God for the precious and glorious songs He is sending us. The music is nearly all written by Bro. Barney, whose inspiration in this gift is a marvel. Both words and music will far surpass the Songs of Victory. Our plan is to make an entire new book, except a few pieces from Songs of Victory to which new tunes have been made. And then all the most favorite Songs of Victory will be put in as familiar songs. We have sent twenty-two pieces to the electrotypers, and have over forty more nearly ready. The book will be a half inch longer than S’s. of V. and not have such fine prink. So you see dear brethren, we are going ahead with the work in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Now dear saints every where, there will be a great deal of means needed this spring to carry out what God shows us should be done. Bro. E. E. Byrum expects to meet us at Chicago on our return; when we desire to purchase some new type and other greatly needed material. Large bills of paper will also have to be purchased to issue the Song book. So we pray God to move all who are in arrears on the TRUMPET to send in the same, if you possibly can. Also if any person wishes to glorify God by devoting some of his means to the work of publishing His truth, and songs of praise, “let not your hands be slack. Send your offerings unto the Lord, and ye shall indeed be rewarded and blessed. When we see the floods of ungodly poison that are thrown out in the world, and the precious souls that are slaughtered thereby, how can men be indifferent. O my beloved we must issue tracts and small works as soon as possible on various subjects, to defeat the devil in his diabolical work of blasting souls, with such heresy and doctrines of devils, as law-ism, quakerism, “Age to come” lies, etc. O my brethren, when we preach to perishing souls and see them joyfully saved in the Lord, and go on our way, and hear of now and then one falling into satan’s pittfalls, and losing the joy of the Lord out of their hearts, our hearts burn within us to do what we can to shield them from the destroyer. O beloved will you help us. A great responsibility rests upon us. While we are praising God for the precious light of Heaven in our souls, let us not forget others in darkness, and exposed to the numerous pitfalls now threatening souls for whom Jesus died. Let no spirit of the devil, nor any of his children tell you that we have any-selfish motive in enlisting all willing and obedient hearts and hands in doing our duty in the rescueing of souls from satan in every possible way. In the name of Jesus we spurn such meanness. God knows we do not draw a breath for self; but “for us to live is Christ.” Are we seeking self interest, as wicked men have belied us? Where can any facts be cited upon which to base such an unkind assertion? On the present tour of nearly a year, we have used about every cent we have received for the sale of books, to supply the needs of ourself and little company. So we go forth preaching night and day, exposing this poor frail body to the keen biting frosts, and beating storms, and toiling about every moment with the pen except when in meetings, or going there to and from, and about six hours sleep, asking nothing for our labors neither from God or man but the salvation of souls, and the glory of God. We do not even ask God to give us our necessary food and raiment for our labors: but we do ask God just for Christ’s sake, and through His own mercy, to supply our needs, and to move those dear hearts who are blessed with this world’s goods to help us do the great work God has placed upon our shoulders. It is a beautiful thought in Zeph. 3: speaking of the holy remnant God is now calling out of babylon; “they shall serve the I Lord with one consent.” In the margin it is, “one shoulder.” God’s Church, under the reign of the Holy Spirit have “one shoulder.” O God help us to “do with our might what our hands find to do.” Life will soon be over. You must leave your earthly treasures in the hands of others. Whether they will use it to serve God or the devil is not yet known. Therefore had you not better put a little of it at least, into God’s bank, laying it up in Heaven where thieves do not break through and steal, and where moth and rust does not corrupt. As we return home from this long tour, we feel impressed of the Lord to devote ourself more fully to the preparation of matter for the press; and we shall pray God with all our soul to move men and women to provide the means to purchase paper etc. to send it forth. There should be some works sent forth by the million, free of cost. And we feel sure that God will find willing hearts to help on the work, and shall toil on in full assurance that when we breathe our last, we shall have this consolation that we have done what we could to enlighten and save souls for whom our dear Jesus died upon the cross. O praise His name forever! Amen!

LATER.

Grand Junction, Mich., April 25.

Praise the Lord with us all ye dear saints of the Living God, and let us exalt His name together. We arrived at home safely this morning, through the kind favor of our God. O bless His name for ever! How our hearts were made to leap for joy, to meet the beloved and faithful ones at home. O praise the Lord for ever!

Our last was written at father Byers’ place near Albany Ill.. We shall ever praise God for having met that dearly beloved family. Their home was a little paradise for the pilgrims; the Son of peace is truly there. Glory to His name! We held meetings one week in a school house, and the Lord was with us in mighty power. Glory to His name, He made His truth mighty through the power of the Holy Spirit. Much light was shed in that place, and many received the Word. Several souls were joyfully saved, sanctified wholly to God, through the all-cleansing blood. The last Sabbath, April 15, was a day of divine power. The moments were all crowded with work for the Master. In the morning went three and a half miles to the school house, preached from 10:30 to 12, then went three miles farther to the MississipiRiver, where Bro. Barney immersed seven happy pilgrims in the Triune name. Returning to Brother Byers’ and taking refreshment, we immediately began meeting there. After reading the precious Word, and having consecration services, we proceeded to follow the dear Savior in the sacred ordinances of washing the saints feet, and the Lord’s supper. It was a solemn and melting time. O how our hearts were made to flow out in love to our Lord Jesus, and to each other, as we partook of the holy symbols, that show forth His death in our behalf, and which also show the precious love-bound unity of all the redeemed saints. Truly we felt that we are all “one body and one loaf.” As soon as these precious services were ended, we returned to preach once more to the people in the school house, which was much crowded and some unable to get in. God bless His precious little Church in that place. Father and mother Byers and family were formerly of the RiverBrethren sect, but God in His wise and merciful providence sanctified their souls and led them out of confusion, and they are happy in this evening light. Father Byers and Bro. Jacob W. Byers were ordained by the laying on of hands to the solemn work of the ministry. They having been called thereunto in the past, and the former having labored in the same calling for a number of years. Bro. Andrew who was wholly sanctified during the meeting with some of the family, feels also called to the work, and we believe God will make him useful in His hands. The young Bro. is now teaching school over in Iowa. Let all the saints pray God to keep him faithful in the Lord. He, and some more from Ill. expect to come to the Bangor and Beaver Dam camp meetings. Both father and mother Byers were healed of the Lord: he of sore eyes, and she of various bodily afflictions. We also visited a neighbor of theirs who was greatly afflicted with a cancer. His hand was an awful sight, greatly swollen, and being literally eaten up with the terrible disease; and his whole body was filled with the poison. He suffered almost constant pain. He consecrated his all to God, and claimed entire sanctification. Then he had faith to be healed. We anointed his hand in the name of the Lord, and prayed the Father of Mercies to heal the dear Bro. for Christ’s sake. To purge every particle of the disease out of his system and heal up the awful wound it had already inflicted on his body. Praise God, we believed for what we asked. The fire from Heaven witnessed to our faith. The miraculous purging was so powerful that for a few days he was entirely prostrate, and apparently very low: but his faith failed not. When rallying again, his pains were pretty much gone, having suffered almost constantly, up to the time of our visit there. A week later a sister who visited him came over to the last place we labored, and reports that the swelling had gone away; the brother is feeling well, having a good appetite, and that the cancer is fast healing up. And the best of all the brother is gloriously saved and filled with the Spirit, and with joy and praise to God. O bless God for His goodness to the children of men, and His mighty power to usward, who believe according to His Holy Word.

From here we returned to the vicinity of Bro. Knight and Bro. Daniels east of Fulton. Here Bro. Knight had come out of Wesleyan sectism over twenty years ago, and had suffered the wrath of the beast forces arrayed against him ever since. But the truth has taken root in a few hearts, while the country generally is burned over and left in black desolation, because of the sect strife against the work of true holiness. The first night of our meeting, which was held in a school house, standing not a hundred feet from a sect house, which they refused the saints to occupy, we felt the thick darkness of the babylonized community. It seemed to us the Spirit could scarcely have access to the place. It also being our last meeting before returning home, the thoughts of being detained a week where it appeared that God could not work, was intolerable. But we soon saw that satan was making God’s revelation to us of babylon’s desolation, a matter of temptation, so we vehemently resisted the devil, and claimed the victory. Since God and His sacred truth had gotten the victory in every battle of this long campaign, we resolved to have the victory to the end. We began to call mightily upon our God, and the next meeting was much better, and every subsequent one still more glorious

Page 3

O how sweetly the Spirit of God did rest upon us in preaching the everlasting Gospel. Several souls consecrated more fully to God, and some were gloriously baptized in the Holy Spirit. Sabbath, April 22, dear Bro. Barney baptized four more dear children of God. The Lord blessed the willing and obedient. The next day several of the dear saints came where we were resting and getting ready to start homeward at 3:30 the next morning, and desired the laying on of hands and anointing for healing. The mighty power of God filled the room where we were assembled, and we were truly all in the Spirit. There were four applicants for healing, the three sisters were marvelously healed and filled with shouts of praise to God. Also dear Bro. Knight received healing by faith in Christ Jesus, taking God at His Word. Thus ended, most gloriously our western campaign, of ten months constant labor for the Lord, in seven states. Having travelled over four thousand miles, at a cost of about $455.37. Doubtless no less than five hundred meetings were held, and a low estimate would be an average of one soul either converted or sanctified to each meeting. And we believe the final fruits of this tour will aggregate thousands of souls for Christ and for Heaven. No doubt also it is proving a savor of death unto death, unto thousands who have heard the truth preached with the Holy Spirit sent down from Heaven, but who, because of the idols of their heart, will not walk in it. Behold the goodness and severity of God: to us who believe, and walk in the truth, goodness; but unto them who are contentious and obey not the truth, tribulation and wrath.

Bro. Byrum met us in Chicago on our return, but we had not much means to invest in things needed in the office. About $150 is much needed to purchase a book-binding outfit. Some of the brethren have written books, they desire us to publish, which will need better binding than we can now furnish. Also other works we desire to issue as soon as the Lord will. There were about $127 of TRUMPET funds paid on repairing the building last summer, if that could be refunded we could get our binding outfit. The will of the Lord be done. Brethren pray for us. We hope to see a great multitude of the Heavenly seed at the Bangor Camp-meeting. Come in the name of the Lord. Grace and peace be multiplied unto all the saints. Amen!

Dear Trumpet Readers: — I am praising God this morning for a real Bible salvation, cleansed from all sin, and sanctified wholly, with victory in my soul. Well praise God forever and ever. I just closed a meeting at Galena, Kan., had a real trimming, pruning time. The Lord wonderfully annointed us to pour out the hail of God’s truth and Babylon is trembling for fear of her loss. When we turned the ordinance- battery upon them the devil concentrated his whole professed holiness force against us and tried to defeat God’s pure truth. But praise God we closed the meeting last night, observing the ordinances. The Holy Ghost came down in wave after wave burning out all the dross and leaving the pure gold in all its brightness. I will praise the name of Jesus for a salvation that saves us from all sin, and gives us victory over all the works of the devil.

A FALSE PROPHET.

Several brethren have been writing to us lately enquiring about one, S. Lindsey, in the west, who pretends to be an evangelist. We have known him for eleven years; and his track has always been slimed with dark deeds. He obtained money on false pretense, from L. W. Keller, Upper Sandusky Ohio; afterwards borrowed a horse and buggy of him to go and see parties he claimed owed him; he sold the buggy, pocketed the money and sent the horse back with a lie. The owner had to go to the expense of replevying the buggy, and has never received a cent from him on his debt.

We published his ungodly deeds several years ago; but he has still crept around, where unknown, and imposed him-self upon the people as a preacher. We always knew he wanted to ship his wife because she was getting old; and since going west has put her away, and married another, so is living in the disgusting sin of adultery. The man is a mass of laziness, lust and lies; he has been that ever since I knew him, and is no better now; for persons have recently written us things that he says which, are the same old line of falsehoods. What we say above about the buggy &c. we know all about, having lived there at the time, and the party he thus treated is my own father-in-law. We warn all saints of God to not countenance the corrupt hypocrite.

Dear Brethren: – I have noticed while reading the Gospel Trumpet from time to time that it speaks of several persons going from place to place preaching the Gospel. I have had a desire for some time to get some person to come to this place to hold meeting. I think there might be great good done here, if some person called of God to preach, and is filled with the Holy Ghost could come. We have persons here who try to preach to the people but are not able to do so for the want of a Gospel experience themselves; therefore the people are in the dark. May God send some one to this place is my prayer.

Dear Brethren: — I thought I would write my testimony to you all. I praise God for saving a poor sinner like me; glory to His name! I am saved by the precious blood of Jesus, sanctified wholly. He keeps me day by day free from sin. It does my heart good to read the testimonies of the Trumpet. Pray for me that I may ever stand firm. Your brother saved sanctified, and kept by the power of God.

Dear Brethren: — I am saved, sanctified, and kept by the mighty power of God and saved out of babylon; and from the use of tobacco, which was the cause of my down fall, and my return back to the Winebrennarian sect; where I was permitted to bow down and worship my idol without being molested. But glory be to God I am saved from all my idols; tobacco, and sect babylon, and all heresies; standing on the solid Rock, proclaiming a pure Gospel. Hallelujah to God who gives ns the victory over all unclean spirits, and doctrines of devils; and as I lift up my voice against them, it fills my soul with glory and praise. Oh glory to God for this wonderful salvation. We hear men praising the Lord, because they are saved from a drunkards grave; but it is hard to save men and women from babylon, who are drunken on her wine; they are so blinded by the blind leaders, that they will continue to bow down to then idols or sects, and say they are saved.

God says that His Church is pure, built on a Rock. But the sects are like a cage of unclean birds; and their foundation is Secret Societies and all the poisons of the world and every thing that maketh a lie. Oh glory to God I am saved and filled with the power of God to proclaim all the words of this life; and when I belonged to the Winebrennarians I did have to ask the Michigan Eldership for license to preach the Gospel; when the command is: Tarry ye in Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high. Glory to God, I have obeyed the heavenly mandate, and have recieved power to go into all the world and teach all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen! Your brother and sister.

El Dorado Springs, Mo.

Dearly beloved of the Lord greeting: — This morning finds me wonderfully saved and sanctified wholly. Hallelujah! I am here in the work of the Lord with my father, mother, and two sisters; we are standing for the truth, praise God! We have started out for the whole war; have sacrificed all for Jesus. The Lord has provided us with a good traveling rig, and we expect to go from place to place scattering the fire of God as long as God has any thing for us to do. The devil is getting wonderfully stirred in this place; but of course he has to get stirred before he can be cast out. Babylon does not like for a shower of the mighty power of God to sweep through her; she is rocking her little babes in the cradle of carnality, and when God comes along with just a little cyclone of His power it breaks things up pretty badly.

We find some justified souls here that are real hungry for a pure heart. God bless them, they will get it. Hallelujah!

El Dorado is a small city of about four thousand inhabitants; many of whom need salvation. We will stay here a few days the Lord willing, and while we stay, we expect to preach the awful word of God.

I do know for my-self that I am saved to the uttermost. God is schooling me in His Word. Praise His name for ever!

Dear ones pray for us that we may walk worthy of the vocation where-unto God has called us. We praise God to-day for the victory, glory, and fire of God in our souls. We have victory over every thing that is of the devil. We find (in other places) some abominable slick tongued teachers, that say they were made entirely holy when they were justified; and also say that the precious ordinances of the house of God, and many other of His holy commands are nonessential and do not have to be obeyed. Well praise God we believe in living by every word that proceedeth out of the month of God. The word is very plain on sanctification as a second work. Jesus was praying for His disciples when He said, sanctify them through thy truth, thy Word is truth. — John 17:17.

Well dear ones pray for us that we may preach the whole Gospel; we are wonderfully, gloriously, and grandly saved to the utter-most. Hallelujah!

Dear Brethren of the Trumpet: — The Lord bless you and give you grace and make you able to sound forth the precious truth contained in His own blessed Word through the pages of the TRUMPET. Praise God for free salvation and that to the uttermost. About a year ago I heard and accepted the doctrine of perfect holiness. I felt constrained to give my time entirely to the Gospel of Christ, but concluded to settle down and earn my own living and preach without cost to any one. I did so and being out of the order of God I backslid as also did my wife. We lived some months in darkness and misery when the Lord in mercy showed us our condition, and we turned back to Him. We are settling up all our affairs and will by the grace of Christ give our time and powers all to the service of God alone, trusting Him for support. We have not the experience we desire. All the dear saints pray for us that the Lord may fully fit us for the work to which He has called us.

Dear Saints of God: — I am so glad that Jesus Christ, the beloved Son of God, has full possession of my heart, which is the temple of the Holy Ghost. And when Christ dwells in the heart there is no room for any sin or any of the works of the devil. Well praise God for a full and free salvation, that keeps us saved from all the snares of the wicked one. Praise the Lord! I am determined to stand for Him if every one turns against me. But if Christ is for us who can be against us? I am your sister sanctified wholly and under the blood.

Dear Brethren: — I feel led to write to the TRUMPET. May God bless you all and fill you with the fire of Heaven. Praise our God, he is a consuming fire, and let us keep Him in us and there will be no room for the devil and his works. Bless God for His kingdom that is set up in us and the King that rules it, which is the Lord Jesus. He that dwells in us is greater than he that is in the world. These are dangerous times and we must keep an eye single to God and our whole body will be full of light. I do praise God for this evening light, which is so light that we should not be stumblng about in the way of others. But we must make straight paths for our feet, that the lame may not stumble. Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” If we have Jesus fully formed within, we have the way, the truth and the life. Glory to our God for the establishing grace in these last times; if we believe His words and practice them, we will never fall, but we will love His appearing at any time. I do praise God for a heart that is willing to be washed by the word of God. We have out meetings twice a week and the Lord is doing wonderful work for us in establishing the church at this place, and in His great healing power; it is wonderful what our God will do for those who will walk uprightly. The Good Lord is opening houses for us to hold meeting. Glory to God! He goes before sowing the good seed in spite of satan. Some are accepting the truth as it is in Christ Jesus, and are being saved. There is a good opening at Marion, the county seat of Grant Co., for a Holy Ghost preacher. The people there are starving for the true Word of God. In His Word He says, I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the Word of the Lord. — Amos 8:11. May God send forth His ministers to feed the people the true word. This campaign of fire shall sweep over the land enlisting the pure in heart for they shall see God. O Halleujah to God and the Lamb, that taketh away the sin of the world! Satan cannot hinder us from drinking at that pure River. Dear saints, Father has willed us this River, then let us keep filled with it continually. I am so glad that I am out of babylon, and babylon is out of me. She is utterly destroyed in this country, and the people are standing afar off wondering at her burning, while we are safe in Jesus. Paul and Silas said to the jailer when became rushing into the prison, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in the house, and they rejoiced believing in God.” They were saved by believing the Word of the Lord and obeying it. I do praise God we can be made free through the Word of the Lord; for if the Son makes us free, we are free indeed. We are not under the bondage of sin and confusion, for we walk in the clear light of God, and in Him is no darkness at all. I bless God that knowledge is increasing, for the people are learning that they can live without sin. But we should live soberly, righteously and godly, in this present world, then we will love to read the Bible and possess the holy fire in our souls. I am all sold out to the Lord to do His will. Your Bro. saved and sanctified.

Dear Saints: — I praise God for a free salvation, that saves my soul from all the works of the devil. Hallelujah to God for the pence and joy I have in my heart at his present time! Praise God, for His wonderful healing power, with which He has healed my body. David says, “Let every thing that has breath, praise God,” and we have a right to praise Him for what He is doing for His people all over the land. Truly what a meeting that will be when all the saved shall shout their victory at home.

Bro. Gillard leaves a wife and three children to mourn his loss. God bless them with grace and endurance, and may they seek to know the will of God and do it.

Sister Lavina Reed, daughter of sister Shine, aged 37 years and 19 days, departed this life March 27 ’88. Sister Reed was sweetly saved three years ago, but through strong opposition did not let her light shine out in public; but was an earnest reader in God’s Word, and taught her children about the blessed Jesus who came to save the people from their sins. Before departing this life she requested us to preach her funeral, and sing this song.

“I am waiting for Jesus to welcome me home
To the place He has gone to prepare.”

Sister Reed leaves a husband and three children. God bless the bereaved family, and may they yield to the earnest request of their dear loved one just departed.

After funeral services, we called to visit Lydia Williams who also was a daughter of sister Shines, whom we found very near the close of this mortal life and without a hope in Christ. Lydia was adopted in the family of God three years ago, but like the prodigal, wandered away and spent all her living that the Father had given through His Son Jesus. And when we came in the room she grasped us by the hand, and when we began to talk about Jesus, her heart began to throb for the living water: and by faith she grasped the Lord again. Truly there was rejoicing on earth as well as in Heaven. Sister Lydia having not been able to talk for some time before, the Lord gave her a clear voice to testify for Him, and bade them all good-bye, asking them to meet her in Heaven. She leaves a husband and two children to mourn her loss. Truly their loss is hep eternal gain. Sister Lydia departed this life March 29 ’88, aged 29 years I month and 1 day. These two departed ones have seen residents of Covert Mich.. Funerals preached by the writer.

Mrs. Anna Shields died Dec. 2, 18 87 near Humboldt, in the triumphs of the living faith. A few weeks before she died a number of the saints went and had a blessed meeting with her; she enjoyed it very much. She bore her sufferings with patience and was ready and willing to live or die. She was the sick sister that came to the Chanute Camp-meeting just as it closed. Bro. Warner and others will remember her. She was better after that for a while then got worse again and suffered much until the Lord relieved her by taking her home. She leaves a kind husband and two sons to mourn her loss.

I want to glorify God this morning by giving in my testimony once more. I want to say to the readers of the Trumpet that the blessed Lord still saves and keeps us by His mighty power, and we find it blessed to follow Jesus in all things. Glory be to His name! I am so glad that He does reveal Himself unto His disciples as he does not unto the world. Praise his name! He says: “Ye are not of the world even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldst take them out of the world, but that thou shouldst keep them from the evil that is in the world.” Praise the Lord for ever! Dear brethren pray for us that our faith fail not. Your free brother under the blood.

Dear saints scattered abroad: — I praise God to-day for salvation from all sin, for the communion of saints, and for the privilege of reading a paper that dares to speak against old sect babylon with all of her shoddy holiness. I received the second benefit spoken of in the first chapter of 2 Cor., more than four years ago. Glory to Jesus! I am benefited with it yet. In the 11 chapter of 2 Cor. we read about satan being transformed into an angel of light. How if we do not live near to God we will be apt to be misled by this false light, and go and join the Free Methodist or some other pen of the devil. The Church spoken of in the 1 chapter of Col. is good enough for me. There are a great many professed Christians who heed an introduction to Jesus.

Dear Brethren and all the readers of the Trumpet: — Grace, mercy and peace be multiplied unto you from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. I am praising God to-day for a full and free salvation and for victory over the world the flesh and the devil. O praise our God for ever!

I feel it is the will of God for me to tell a little of my experience and what God is doing for me from day to day. Last August God for Christ’ sake spoke peace to my soul, and I enjoyed a measure of the love of Christ, but I still had the stump in my heart although the tree was hewn down. I went in a short time to a Camp-meeting held in Pa., and I there consecrated for entire sanctification, and thought at the time that I was sanctified, but I know now I was not. Because I soon became selfrighteous and had spiritual pride in my heart, and when I first, felt my need of a deeper experience I would not give up my profession, but kept on in this way till I lost all my spiritual enjoyment. And at last when I got discouraged trying in my own strength and failing, I told my parents and friends that I was not saved and that I would not attend the meetings of the saints, and the devil took full possession of my heart. But one night about two days after, I was taken very sick with pneumonia of the lungs, and the next day my parents asked me whether I wanted the doctor, or the saints to come and pray for me. I told them to go for the doctor. The Dr. came several times, but instead of getting better I grew worse all the time and began to think of death. I knew if I was to be called before the judgment bar of God to give an account of the deeds done in the body, that my doom would be an endless hell. I then sent for one of the brethren who was laboring for the salvation of souls about seven miles from our place, and who had the gift of faith-healing. I was anointed in the name of the Lord, and He healed my body and restored my soul to peace. I did not rise from my bed for several days, but I took no more medicine from that time nor received any more care from the doctor. And I am now praising God for health and strength and salvation that saves me from all sin. I have given up my old profession and was baptized, and now am walking in the light even as He is in the light, and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth me from all sin. I am living every day and moment of my life free from all sin and the works of the devil, and I have this hope in me that makes me pure even as He is pure. O that all might taste and see the riches of His grace, the arms of love that compass me would all mankind embrace. Your humble sister, sanctified wholly and under the blood.

Dear Brethren: — I have many times thought of writing, that brethren who have been here may know that the Lord has raised up, and is keeping a praying eand at this place who can testify to the saving power of God. Many of them take the Trumpet, and I for one, am learning to appreciate it more and more. May the Lord keep all the little ones humble, faithful and true to him. I feel wonerfully drawn to this people. Praise the Lord for the love which makes us one in Christ Jesus; for in union there is strength. The adversary is powerful and his devices many: so that if it were possible he would decieve even the very elect. O it seems terrible to see any fall away after having known the way of life and salvation. My trust is in the living God who is able to keep us from falling and present us faultless before the throne. Yours for the truth as it is in Jesus.

Dear Brethren: — I am saved and rejoicing in the Lord continually. Oh I am so thankful that the Lord was so merciful as to call me out from darkness into this glorious light. I know it is grand to live for Jesus: I find the way is growing brighter and brighter. The Lord wonderfully blesses and keeps me by His mighty power from all sin. I praise God for the sweet peace and joy that I feel in my soul; and I want to live every day according to my testimony, and do the will of the Lord. O I do feel to rejoice to think that the Lord called after me when I was a vile sinner, and I had a willing heart to accept of this blessed high way of holiness. I used to be so worldly, and loved the pleasures of the world; I had a great many idols to give up for Chist’s sake. O I am so glad that Jesus took the pride out of my heart. I am all on the altar that sanctifies me.

“Though satan should whisper, It may not be so;
I’ll testify stronger, I’m whiter than snow.”

Pray, for me, dear ones, that I may always stand firm for Jesus.

To the Saints of God scattered abroad greeting: — May the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ keep you by His mighty power and preserve you blameless unto the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I praise God that it is well with my soul, and that I have the victory over the flesh and the devil through the precious blood of the Lamb. Praise God for a Bible salvation that saves to the uttermost from all sin. There are a few of us in this City that are standing firm upon the solid Rock who are valiant for the truth; but the enemy is doing all in his power to weaken our faith: we are indeed being tried as by fire; but blessed be God! having put on the whole armor of God, we are able to withstand the fiery darts of the evil one. Glory to Jesus for the trial of our faith, and that we are found worthy to suffer for Christ’s sake. We are indeed suffering from the wicked effects of adVentism. There are three poor souls who are deluded of the devil with this ism, that professed to see the light when Bro. Warner was here. It makes my heart sad to see the devil deluding people with his damnable doctrines of men. Pray for these dear souls Brethren, that God may deliver them from the powers of darkness. These are indeed perilous times, and the devil goes about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Therefore let us stand, having our loins girt about with truth, and laving on the breastplate of righteousness, and your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation and the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. — Eph. 6:14, 17.

Well I do praise God that if we are in Christ, and He in us, we will have complete victory over all the works of the enemy of our souls. I can say that this way gets better and better, and that my only desire is to do the will of God, and see the salvation of precious souls that God alone may get the glory. May God bless you all and keep you grounded in the Word. Pray mightily for us here in Denver that we may be steadfast to the end, and may be found without spot and blameless in the time of His coming. Your Bro. sanctified and kept by the power of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Dear Brethren: — I feel it my duty to write to the TRUMPET. This blessed paper fills my soul with glory when I read its precious columns. My experience this morning is, I am being kept by power divine. I am leaning on Jesus alone, for I have no other help only the blessed Bible. Oh the blessed Word of God, I love to read it; it makes my whole soul rejoice when I read the blessed promises of the Lord, and the encouragements the Savior gives me through persecutions. Oh if it was not for the blessed Word of God, I surely could not be firm; but praise the Lord, it teaches sanctification and holiness: and I am praising the Lord for the light I have of the truth. May the Lord send a Holy Ghost preacher in our midst. Oh that I had the privilege of just one holiness meeting, where I could have freedom to my convictions and enjoyments. Dear readers, I ask you to pray for me, for trials and temtations are many: but through the prayers of the saved this house is going to stand because it is founded upon the Rock. Oh praise the Lord for a salvation that can keep us through temptation. He gives me victory over this present world, and the flesh and the devil. May God lead whom He will to come here in His own good time. Oh praise the Lord for the blessedness I find in this way of holiness. Your sister saved and sanctified wholly.

Dearly beloved Saints Greeting: — thank God that He gave me a willing heart to recieve this truth as it is in Christ Jesus, which now saves my soul through the blood of Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

We are all praising God for the privilege of meeting dear Bro. Warner and company once more.

I found that I could not love the work and be a child of God. “For if any man love the world the love of the Father is not in him.” — 1 John 2:15. I had a great desire to love the world, but God would not sanctify me until I met every condition in His word, and took Jesus for my all in all. Which I did. I have had a great many battles to fight, but I am dead to the world saved and sanctified wholly. I also praise God for His wonderful healing power. Praise God He has healed my body. I am rejoicing with joy unspeakable and full of glory. Pray for me that I may stared firm. Your Bro.

Dear Brethren: — I do feel led to write my testimony for Christ. I feel happy in Christ to know that my sins are all washed away through the blood of Christ. O I wish that I could tell the happiness that I have in my heart. As I have been reading the GOSPEL TRUMPET, it fills my heart with joy to read the testimonies of the dear saints. I am alone here, only Christ is with me. The devil is lurking all around, but glory to God now and forever, the Lord keeps me each day free from sin Bless His dear name! Dear brethren, pray for me that I may stand for Christ where ever I am. I can truly and happily say that I am saved and kept by the power of God each day without sin.

Your Bro. in Christ.

Dear Saints of God: — We feel led of the Lord to send in our testimony for the TRUMPET. We praise and thank our Heavenly Father for His goodness and mercy to us. He has wonderfully healed my husband of a serious illness. He has been so sick that we thought surely he would die. I was perfectly resigned to it: although I continually prayed to the Lord for his healing if it was His will, and He gave me the witness that it should be done. Praise His holy name! The neighbors realized how very sick he was, and threatened to put me in prison and him under the doctor’s care, if I did not employ a physician. But I told them that they could put me in prison, but I would trust in the Lord for the healing. He coughed so much that we could not sleep day nor night, and we had a continual prayer meeting, singing and praising God for all things. Glory! hallelujah! Surely God has afflicted us for good. The neighbors came in and told us that he must be kept quiet, for he was a very sick man. Instead of keeping quiit, we felt led to have the saints come and pray with us very often. Praise the Lord! We felt that we needed a deeper work of grace in our hearts; and the affliction has been the means of drawing us nearer to God; and we feel that His blessed Spirit dwells in our hearts continually. Praise His holy name for ever and ever! For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. — 2 Cor. 4:17.

Our hearts feel to rejoice every moment for the salvation of our souls. Yours washed in the all cleansing blood of Jesus, sanctified wholly. Amen!

Dear Brethren: — I feel led to write my testimony and tell you how wonderfully the Lord has healed me. Sunday morning I was just able to walk around; but by the laying on of hands I was healed so that I could go to the meeting in the evening, and the Lord blessed me; we had a good meeting. I am determined to stand firm for God and give Him all the glory for the healing power. Your sister saved in Jesus.

Dear Saints: — I can testify to the saving power of Jesus. Glory to God! He saves me from all sin. I am out of babylon and babylon is out of me. Glory to Jesus for ever for freedom! Dear Bro. Howard and Bro. Schell was sent of the Lord to preach the Word of God in its purity in this place. Glory to God for ever! Victory is on the Lord’s side. Prejudice gave way, some are being won to the truth. Glory to Jesus! Pray for us at this place that we may know the will of God concerning us in all things. Your saved Bro. under the blood, sanctified.

I am praising God for salvation complete in Jesus. I am saved to the uttermost, kept by the power of God through faith. I am one of God’s free children to go any where or do what ever God would have me. I have complete victory and deliverance from babylon, and now am on the uncompromising line for God. The devil is still raging at Endora where Bro. Haner had meeting. The sect element is the worst of all in that place; but we have the victory.

Dear Brethren: — May God wonderfully bless His dear saints with all the fullness of His grace. I feel that it would be to the glory of God for me to write my testimony. Praise the Lord! I am sweetly saved and sanctified wholly. I am young in experience, but glory to God! I know the precious blood of Jesus does cleanse me from all sin. Praise God for ever! I am continually praising God for what He has done, and is doing for me now. Glory to God! The Lord saved my soul about three months ago when I attended a holiness meeting in Meriden, which some of the dear children of God was holding, and delivering the awful Word of God. I do praise God for a full and free salvation that the world cannot give nor take away. Hallelujah to God! Pray for me that I may be meek and lowly in heart, and stand firm and true to God. Your humble Bro. under the blood. Hallelujah!

Dear Brethren: — I am thanking and praising God for His good blessings day by day. I am saved from the wickedness of this world, redeemed and washed in the blood of the Lamb, and I find that the will of the Lord is not grievous, and His burdens are not hard to bear to those who enjoy his fullness; and we a bright crown shall wear if we only prove faithful till the end of the race, which I expect to do by the grace of God; if it costs this life we shall have life eternal at the right hand of God. We are earnestly praying for the Lord to send a true minister of the Gospel

to this country to spread the glad tidings of salvation. Your sister trusting in God.

Dear Brethren: — I am trusting in the Lord yet, and He is keeping me in these trying times. Dear saints, do pray for me for I feel that I need more power from God. Oh I do pray God to send some of His holy ones here, and I believe He will. “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” Praise the Lord! I am often persecuted for the course that I have taken. Dear friends in the Lord, pray for me that I may be led of the Lord. God bless you all is my prayer.

Dear Brethren: — I feel led to write my testimony on the Lords side, He has done so much for me. I can never express the love I have for God and His true children. Hallelujah to God for what I feel, in my soul. God has so wonderfully kept me while others who seemed so much stronger have fallen. How it makes me cling to God when I see and hear of God’s children falling away from the faith. I feel like saying glory to God for Bible salvation; that we can live for God regardless of man: for I see men are falible creatures. As I read their testimonies of how they get away from God’s worth when they condemn their brother for eating and drinking in God’s Word, He says: eat and drink what is set before you and ask at questions for conscience sake.

God says in His Word what I have cleaned call not thou common. And it is also written that we shall not live by bread alone but by every word of God.

Let us be careful how we use God’s money and not defile His temple, and let us as God’s children keep free from condemnation. We must live each day as though it was our last. Oh how true it is that no every one that saith Lord, Lord, shall enter the Kingdom, but those that do the will of the Father. God has a few children in this place who take God for then physician, and he has wonderfully healed all our infirmities. And all those trusting earthly physicians and not the Lord, have fallen from grace. May a way be opened for some one filled with the mighty power of God to come to this place to the resent of perishing souls, is my prayer. Your sister under the blood.

St. James Mo.

Dear brethren and saints of God every where, greeting: — May grace mercy and peace be multiplied, amen. I am praising God for perfect and complete salvation from all sin through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Glory be to His holy name for victory over all evil spirits and delusions of the devil, and a decision to serve and obey God in all things. Oh how I do praise God for sending dear brother Warner and company out here to lead us out into more perfect light and freedom in Jesus. But some have failed to walk in the light, and the light has become darkness; for when the light goes out the devil comes in and men begin to put darkness for light and light for darkness, and thereby many be defiled.

May He deliver these dear souls from the power of satan, and bring them back into the fellowship of the saints. How much I feel the need of the people walking in all the light God gives them; for if ever there was a time when darkness covered the earth and gross darkness the people it surely is now.

“O the sin and confusion, O the vanity and pride
Of the multitude of Sodom, who in Babylon abide;
But all honor to Jesus! we have heard His angel’s call,
And escaped the sure destruction that is written on the wall.”

I praise God for perfect freedom in Jesus; for whom the Son maketh free, is free indeed. I rejoice to know that He saves me just now and hath given me an inheritance among all them that are sanctified. Praise His name for ever! Your sister complete in all the will of God.
