Sinner Come to Jesus.

—o—

Listen sinner to the Savior,
Pleading for thy heart to day.
He is waiting to receive you,
He will wash thy sins away.

Ho is loving, meek and lowly,
Willing to impart His grace.
Will you trust Him guilty sinner?
O behold His smiling face!

Oh He is a mighty Savior,
He will save you from all sin;
If you trust Him trembling sinner
He will make you pure within.

Hear the voice of Jesus saying,
Come to me I’ll give you rest.
I have come in faith believing,
And I know I’m fully blest.

Oh to think how He has suffered,
Praying, toiling here below.
All that we through Him might triumph
Over every earthly foe.

See Him on the cross of Calv’ry
With the thorns upon His brow.
And His precious side was riven,
All to wash you white as snow.

Oh the sympathizing Jesus!
He has suffered much for you.
Oh believe Him guilty sinner!
He will save you through and through.

Oh my blessed blessed Jesus!
He has saved my soul from hell.
And the story of redemption
Unto others I will tell.

I will praise my blessed Savior
For His goodness unto me.
He saves me to the uttermost,
And His Spirit makes me free.

In the judgmnt day that’s coming,
When before His Throne we stand,
Will you be prepared to enter
Into Heaven’s glory land?

Come poor sinner Jesus loves you,
He has died to save thy soul.
Come and plunge into the fountain,
He will make thy spirit whole.

I am trusting in my Savior,
He has saved me from all sin.
I am drinking at the fountain,
And He makes me pure within.

Your humble free sister at Jesus’ feet, sanctified and made white and tried.

SATAN’S LIE IN A NEW GARB.

_____

TO ease the guilty conscience, and calm the fears of hell in the ungodly, satan devised the lie of Universalism. “Every sin will be forgiven, and every road will end in Heaven.” This falsehood, which is an abomination in the light of the whole Bible, and utterly disgusting to reason and common sense, soon became so exposed, and stripped naked by the Word of God, that Satan himself became ashamed of it. So he took the abominable beast hack to the pit, sheared off some of its ugliness, put some new dressing on it, and called it Hell redemption. Then the devil got astride the same old lie and rode forth to console men on the road to hell, with the prospect of getting out all right, when the fires shall have burned up all their sins. But the hammer of God’s Word was plied to the nasty delusion until its hack was broken, and satan could not ride it any farther. So the devil getting weary of “WALKING THROUGH DRY CLACKS,” finally through the help of C. T. Russel of Pittsburg Pa., has put the same old lie on its feet again, painted and disguised, and labeled “the age to come.” And now the fiend of hell has found “rest” for a “short time,” riding on the old lie, revived under a new name, and new garb. This Russel built him a very high tower, from which, by means of the devil’s telescope, he saw a very nice plan to comfort sinners on the road to perdition, and encourage them to give loose reign to the lusts of the flesh, and reject salvation now, with the hope of being saved in the age to come. Quotations from his tower appeared in the TRUMPET, some time ago, in an article from Bro. Haner, in which the man who sits on his babel tower denies that any one is a Son of God in the present age, clearly proves that the editor has never been horn of God himself. He is therefore a sinner, a child of the devil. For John divides the human family in two classes in his first Epistle 3rd chapter. “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; he that conimitteth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning.” “In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil.” Namely in this that the children of God do not sin, and the children of the devil do. Had Mr. Russel ever been born of God, he would know there is at least one Son of God in this age. But as he knows none, he himself is not one, hence a child of the devil. And “the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, neither can he know them, for they are Spiritually discerned.” By the words of his own mouth we prove this babel tower man utterly unfit to attempt to teach the things of God. His own soul never having been restored from sin and the works of the devil, he earnestly teaches that the restitution age has not yet come. Because destitute of salvation himself, he teaches that not much salvation and healing can be expected until the next age. Speaking of the gift of healing, and other gifts in 1 Cor. 12, he says in the Tower, July 1888, “Those gifts described by Paul were merely to the earthly church.” Because his own blind heart never received any thing from God he says, “We should not ask much except Spiritual favors.” Such teaching is from the pit of hell. The directions of Christ are, “Ask what ye will, and it will be done unto you.” The promises are that “our God will supply all your needs through His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Yea “He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think.” The poor deceived man thinks that Christ has suspended business at present. Here this, “The restitution work which had a beginning in our Lord’s ministry was deferred until the true Israel should be complete, when the Messiah shall come the second time.”

There are more satanic lies in one issue of this babel “Tower,” than several issues of a paper the same size could overthrow. Falsehood spins out fast, but truth carries a volume of thus saith the Lord. We will now notice two of the chief lies of the devil’s new hobby. Namely,

1st That there is an age of time yet to come.

2nd That all men will be saved after the coming of Christ.

The doctrine that another age is to follow the present, is a direct contradiction of the whole Bible.

All through the Old Testament the present dispensation was prophesied of as “the last day,” and “the last days.” What does this mean, if not what it really affirms? In Micah. 4:1, 2. The coming of Christ, the establishing of the mountain of the Lord’s house, — His Church — and many nations flowing unto it, the law going forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem, was to take place in the last days. Now this clearly refers to the Church of God established at Jerusalem, and the Gospel going forth from that place to all nations on earth. So the last days began with the New Testament dispensation. It is not necessary to multiply texts of prophecy.

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. — Heb. 1:1, 2.

Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you. — 1 Pet. 1:20.

Here is the testimony of two inspired Apostles that “these” be the last days. The last of these in the direct translation from the Greek in the Emphatic Diaglott reads thus, “having been manifested but in last of the time.” The revised translation renders thus, “who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the worlds but was manifest at the end of the times for your sake.” This is postive and clear. Christ’s first advent into the world was in the “last of the times,” “the end of the times.” If there were a single text in the Bible that teaches another dispensation of time it would be a direct contradiction of the above scriptures.

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts. — 2 Peter 3:3.

But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; how that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. — Jude 17, 18, 19.

Here we are told that there would come scoffers in the last days, and that the same have already appeared. The first, direct from the Greek is, “will come in last of the days.” The second, “in last time.” So we are in the last of the days — ages —  in the last time. Hence that an age of time is yet to come, is utterly refuted.

Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he has purposed in himself: that in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might, gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth; even in him: in whom also we have obtained an inheritance being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will. — Eph 1:9-11.

This is very clear and conclusive. The marvelous treasures of grace, and riches of glory that God now giveth us are just what He purposed to bestow “in the dispensation of the fulness of times.” The Apostle here asserts that we now enjoy the good things that God purposed to give in the “dispensation of the fulness of times.” Therefore we are in that dispensation. “The dispensation of the fulness of times,” can mean nothing but that dispensation that makes time full, or the last dispensation of time. “Time is a measured portion of duration.” We are then in the last measured portion of duration. Hence there is no age to come, no measured off thousand years. No, time fills up with this dispensation, and only eternity remains. The Emphatic renders thus, namely these good things come to us in “an administration of the fulness of the appointed times, to reunite all things under one head, even under the Anointed One, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth.” This union of the saints, even as the Father and the Son are one, is the plan of God for this dispensation, as the whole Word teaches. Paul “bows his knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.” — Eph. 3.

There shall be one fold and one Shepherd. — John 10:9. Here then we have the last dispensation of time, the last age of probation.

For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. — Heb. 9:26.

“BUT NOW ONCE FOR ALL AT A COMPETITION OF THE AGEs.” — Emphatic.

“NOW ONCE FOR ALL IN THE END OF THE AGES.” — Revised translation.

Had it been in the singular, the age, it might be thought to mean that He appeared in the end of the Jewish age. But avanon, is clearly in the plural. The end of the ages, must evidently mean that Christ was manifest in the ending up age of time. This is so clear that there is no appeal from it.

We will notice some texts that false teachers wrest into defence of a coming age of time.

But God who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace, in his kindness toward us, through Christ Jesus. — Eph. 2:4-7.

Verse 7, in the Emphatic Diaglott is rendered thus. In order that he might exhibit, in THOSE AGES which are APPROACHING, the SURPASSING wealth of his FAVOR, by kindness towards us in Christ Jesus.

Ages do not always mean dispensations. It simply denotes periods of time. Thus in the present dispensation we have had the Apostolic age, the “dark age,” the Protestant age, and now we have reached the evening light age. The question is, do the above ages to come, refer to ages and centuries in the present dispensation, or to air age to follow the present Holy Spirit dispensation? Let the Word answer. We are told that God raised the primitive saints and apostles up together with Christ and caused them to sit together with Him in heavenly places in Christ Jesus; that in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace, in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” Observe that the riches of grace that was to he shown in the ages to come, are not provisions of salvation of another kind, than those of the present dispensation, not some good thing that is reserved for a future dispensation, but the riches of grace the Apostles were raised up to give us. It is a fact that the grace of God that has come down through the ages from the Apostles to us, have come through the Apostles salvation, inspirations, and writing. Hence it is a fact they were lifted up that in the ages following them to the end of time, the grace of God might be shone forth. It is also a fact that not one thing is here promised to the ages to come excepting Apostolic salvation; hence there is not the slightest intimation here of another dispensation age to come, with other means and agencies of salvation than those now tendered to all men through Christ and the Apostles.

The following two Scriptures are resorted to for some hope of a future chance of life.

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: by which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. — 1 Pet. 3:18-20.

For, for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. — 1 Pet. 4:6, 7.

There are reasonable interpretations of these mysterious Scriptures, that avoid the idea of men having the Gospel preached unto them after disembodied. But we do not at all need them to prove that there is no future chance to escape from sin and hell. Suppose we admit that the Gospel was offered to the antideluvians after leaving this world. That would not prove a similar offer will be extended to men who live in the Gospel age, and reject the Son of God. We have nothing to do with the antideluvians. What does God say to this age? that is the question. “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, and he that believeth not shall be damned.”

Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come. And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. — John 8:21-24.

“This Gospel of the Kingdom must be preached in all the world, for a witness to every nation, then shall the end come.” “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth in him.”

Peter testifies that the prophets, and even the angels tried to search into the great salvation which God had purposed for Adam’s fallen race, “Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, — nor yet unto an age in the future — but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the Gospel with the Holy Ghost sent down from Heaven.” — 1 Pet. 1:10-12. The law made nothing perfect. — Heb. 9:9. 10:1. But Christ does, Heb. 10:14. The patriarchs and prophets saw in the distance a glorious hope, but received it not in their day. “God having provided some better thing for us, that they without should not be made perfect.” — Heb. 11:40. These and many other Scriptures teach us that past dispensations were but preparatory, but that perfection has now been reached in the sacrifice of Christ, and the gift of the truth and the Holy Spirit. So the poor deceived souls who console themselves that a more effectual plan of salvation will deliver their souls in a future age, will wake up in hell to find they had rejected and neglected, a perfect salvation now offered them. And as God Himself can not add to that which is perfect, they will find that they have believed a lie that they all might be damned, who had pleasure in unrighteousness, and chose not the love of the truth, as it is in Christ Jesus. The uniform voice of the entire Bible is that the Gospel of Christ offers the last hope of mercy to Adam’s fallen race. When the Gospel shall have been preached in all the world, for a witness to every nation, then shall the end come. The end of what? the end of time, the end of salvation. Then shall the Kingdom of Heaven be shut and all standing without shall be cast into hell. Then shall the end come. After speaking of the Gospel having been preached to them that are dead, the apostle immediately adds, “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober and watch unto prayer.” The man that reads these words and says in his heart, I will live and die in my sins, and after this life God will save my soul, simply presumes to make God a liar, to indulge the present lusts and desires of his depraved heart. “The end of all things is at hand,” saith God’s Word. Another age of redemption is coming saith the devil’s false prophets. “Let God be time and every man a liar,” that disputes His Word.

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed, to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him. — Heb. 2:1-3.

Here is the salvation published by Christ and confirmed by His apostles. It is a “great salvation,” a perfect redemption, and how shall we escape if we neglect it? How? The Bible leaves the question unanswered; only that it teaches there, is no escape.

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a women with child; and they shall not escape — 1 Thess. 5:2, 3.

There is no escape to men who neglect this great salvation that is now offered through the Lord Jesus Christ. So positively asserts the Word of God, but hell redemption age-to-come preachers of satan say there is another chance to come. God help men to repent of their wicked presumption. “He that being often reproved and hardeneth his neck shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.”

We shall, in our next prove that Christ’s coming will forever fix the doom of all who are not saved.

Grand Haven, Mich, Dear Saints: — I have lived a Catholic for about ten years, and learned my prayers out of books; and I thought sometimes that I was not doing right in the sight of God, and never knew the power of God, and have laughed at those who would speak about it. About three weeks ago I commenced to pray to God for the salvation of my soul; I sent for my sister as I thought she might help me to get in the true way. She came and there were three of us met together in prayer, and our prayers were answered for I was saved, and am still saved and kept by the power of God. Praise His name! I pray God that He may prepare a way for me to meet with you in your meetings, and that I may be baptized. Your sister saved and kept by the power of God.

CORRECTION.

For some time the work in the OFFICE, has been about altogether in the hands of new workers. This will account for not as perfect proof reading as usual. Let the reader make corrections in your own judgment where the sense does not seem to be clear. In our article, “The Church of the God of this world,” “camel backsliders” should have read “carnal” etc. “no matter how many children of God may be in that place, if any one responds, takes that seat, etc that thing called the Church of God in North America is without existence in that place,” should read, “If no one responds,” etc. We should love to be at home in the OFFICE, and could make the paper more edifying, and effectual, but the laborers are few and the harvest is great, and we love to rush to the rescue of perishing souls, so when

absent the readers will bear with defects that cannot thus be avoided. The dear ones will soon be at home from the west, and all will be well. Pray for us all.

THE GOODNESS OF GOD TO ME.

—.o.—

Dear Saints of the Living God: — I can not refrain from telling you this beautiful morning what the Lord is still graciously doing for me. O, I am so happy beyond expression. Jesus still reigns within my soul. O praise the Lord! I feel that my joys are daily increasing, and my hopes are brightening; I am having victory over the enemy of my soul every day. I do praise God for an everlasting salvation, that we cannot possess long, without knowing and feeling for ourselves, “that we have passed from death unto life.” Thank God! His children are the happiest people living, and can testify to all around that Jesus has power on earth to forgive sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The language of my heart is, Oh that I had a trumpet voice; I would sound it so loud that all the world might hear of a Savior’s love. O, that all would taste and live! I do feel grateful to God for His wonderful mercies extended to me; I adore God above all things, for the bright hopes of Heaven which I enjoy, and for the privilege of being numbered with God’s holy people. How often I have thought and wished that I could tell one-half that I felt within my soul; but no tongue can tell, it is better felt than told. I feel as sweet as Heaven in my soul just now as I write this. Hallelujah! I have the whole Kingdom within me; I feel that I have a rich Father who supplieth all our needs, and healeth all our diseases.

About eleven years ago, God permitted afflictions to come upon me which caused me to suffer for over three years, and I was under the care of the Dr. most of the time; I did not seem to be getting any better, but my body became so afflicted and my sufferings so intense during the last ten months of my illness, that I could find no relief in earthly remedies. At last I took it to the Lord; I had often thought of the healing power, although I had never seen much of it done at that time, but had read of it in my Bible, and that was enough to tell me that God could heal me. I prayed mightily to God to heal me if it was His holy will. On the 23, of Sept. 1880, the Lord appeared unto me in a vision and told me If I would give up everything to do His will, He would heal me. I then praised the Lord for what He had told me; I gave up all that He showed me. I left myself in His care, and He did heal me on the 28th of Sept 1880. I have been well ever since until about seven months ago, when the Lord permitted the same disease to come back upon me. I had worked to hard and not been as watchful as I should have been; I overtaxed my body, (which is God’s temple,) and when we do that God permits afflictions to come upon our bodies. I have had severe attacks of pain at different times, and every time I called on the Lord and had hands laid on me, the Lord would remove the pain instantly. I feel to praise God for what He has done for me. On the tenth of last Aug. while I was suffering so, Bro. Warner fell led of the Lord to lay hands on me for entire healing. I felt the glory of God go through my body, and the room was filled with the glory of God. I feel that I am healed both soul and body just now. Praise God forever!

Well dear saints if anything comes up to discourage you and make you dissatisfied, trust in God, and light will spring up again. This I have proved time and again by my own experience. I have always proved God a very present help in time of need. I feel that I am all given up to the will of my Lord, that I can say when the Master calls, I am ready. White I live I shall be devoted to His cause, but if my death would glorify God to the good of others, I can say, Thy will, not mine be done. I ask all the dear saints to pray for me that I may always keep low down at the feet of Jesus, and be willing to be taught of Him. Your sister saved and sanctified and under the blood forever. Amen!

NEWS FROM THE FIELD.

_____

Windsor, Mo.

Dearly Beloved Saints: — I am happy to report to the glory of God, the wonderful victory God has given us at this place in the name of Jesus. We give God all the glory for what He has done, and for

the way He has used us in promulgating His blessed truth, and leading souls to Christ, and into the perfect love of holiness. Meeting closed last night, the 20th, with wonderful victory on the side of the Lord. When we began here, prejudice was very high (and of course is yet) the sect preachers done all they could to keep people from coming to the meeting by prejudicing their minds. The S. M. sect preacher when he announced the meeting, he said he did not know what kind of people we were; but he did not think any decent person would go, but he found he was mistaken, for some of his members began to come. Then he warned all of his members, and charged them not to come to the meeting, and still they came; and then he started a protracted meeting and thought sure this would keep them from going to the holiness meeting: for by this time they were beginning to get very much interested, saying it was the truth. Well when he had done all he could to stop them, it was a failure; they would come to hear the truth, glory to God! Of course they kept away many souls from the meeting that probably would have been saved. The poor man is lying sick, very low; some think he will not recover. God help him never to fight God any more. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

There was quite a hole made in baby Ion (S. M. sect, preachers sect.) Four or five of his best members got sanctified, was baptized and left babylon, one was licensed exhorter. Several of the N. M. sect members made their escape out of babylon; and several sinners were converted and sanctified. There were seven converted, and about twenty claimed sanctification, eleven were buried with Christ in baptism. Others to follow the Lord in baptism. Many were convicted who would not yield. The Lord bless and help them to yield their all to Him. There were some divine cases of healing by faith, for which we give God all the glory. Bless His name forever! Babylon is fallen is fallen; God is calling His people out of her. Hallelujah! Babylon is taken at one end; yes one post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end, and that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted. — Jer. 51:31, 32. May the Lord help us to see this end of babylon that is taken, is the joining end; yes the end where they join; you see it is clearly shown which end is taken, by reading the 32nd verse, the passages are stopped; we show the people the inconsistency of trying to join the church; and the reeds are their disciplines, they are burned with fire; yes the real Holy Ghost fire. The reeds are the sect rules; the fire destroys them. May God wonderfully bless the Church here at Windsor. The last night we had an ordinance meeting which lasted until 2 o’clock. From here, Bro. and sister Cole and our Co. go to Lincoln, Benton Co. Mo. Pray for us all. Your free brother in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — God ever bless and keep you in perfect peace. We are saved sanctified and kept from sin in peace by the power of God. Praise our God! From the Iowa meeting we went to Nebraska, where we left train at Waco and was conveyed about fifteen miles from the above station to a beautiful grove on the farm of Bro. Hoffer. Services commenced in the name of Jesus, and it was soon ascertained that some were out in the light of God, and some were not; but during the meeting the most of them were cleared up for God. Some tried to palm themselves off on us as saints of God, but they were soon detected and invited to get salvation. There were some who professed to be clear from sectism, and they had a hatred toward the saints, and they were possessed of a grumbling, fault-finding, slandering, backfiring, devouring spirit of the devil which had them bound up in covetousness, and that made them believe they were the only saved ones in all that part of Nebraska. Well the good Lord worked in spite of the devil, and the result of the meeting, was about four converted, six sanctified and eight buried with Christ by baptism. Praise the Lord! Bro’s. J. Willis and L. Fox were ordained elders, and M. Hoffer was ordained a deacon in the Church of God.

Brethren pray for us that God may glorify Himself through us in the salvation of sinners. Amen!

Dear Trumpet readers: — May the Lord bless you and fill you with all the blessed fulness of God. Amen! May you arise and shine and continually give God the glory. “Shout O ye inhabitants of Zion for the glory of the Lord is risen upon His people.” O praise God for salvation from all sin to-day! We have just closed the meeting in this place last night, with such glorious victory on the Lord’s side. We came here and presented the pure, straight Word to the people without one bit of compromise, but not many accepted the truth; there were about a dozen precious souls stepped into the fountain of cleansing and were made whole. O praise God for the fountain that was opened up in the house of King David for sin and uncleanness! I am in that fountain to-day, and all the time. The straight Word cut off some professors and hypocrites, but they who were willing to walk in the light just took the Word for their counsel. O beloved these are perilous times, when men are lovers of their own selves more than lovers of God, and shall heap to themselves teachers having itching ears; and when the straight Word comes they find that they would be weighed in the balance and found wanting. We praise God that we find some dear ones who are willing to stand true to God, free from babylon, from secret societies and all the works of the devil. Glory to Jesus!

Young men embraced the religion of the Lord Jesus, leaving off tobacco, coffee and tea; young ladies laid aside ruffles, feathers, and all unnecessary articles of adornment. O beloved it pays to be radical and straight for God. To-day I am sanctified wholly, soul and body. O hallelujah to God for such sweetness and completeness of perfect holy rest! Your sister under the blood, free from babylon and every band of the enemy.

Dear Brethren: — We praise the Lord this morning for uttermost salvation, with victory and glory in our soul through Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! After our arrival at Sweetser, Ind., we began meeting in the name, of the Lord in the Union meeting house Aug. 31st and continued until Sept. 5th. On Sabbath evening we preached to a large congregation, perhaps over two hundred people were present. Good interest prevailed and the people were under strong conviction; yet they refused to accept the call of salvation. O how clearly I realized that darkness and hardness of heart is settling down upon the Gentile sinners, as has been upon the Jewish world in their unbelief during the past centuries. I never labored at any place in Ind., where I felt the prejudice and hardness of the peoples hearts against the cause of holiness, as in that place. Yet, thank God I am happy to report that through the illuminating influence of the Gospel, much prejudice and hardness was removed, and much good done by sowing the seed in the name of the Lord. On Friday evening we met at the house of dear Bro. Bragg where we observed the ordinances of washing the saint’s feet, and the communion of the body of Christ; this was one of the most precious, Heavenly meetings of that kind I have witnessed up to that time since the one on the Bangor camp-ground in June. O praise the Lord for the blessed privilege of following the Lord’s example, and we are happy in so doing. The Church was wonderfully quickened with the increase of God and glory. May God bless the dear people for their kindness to us. Pray for your humble saved brother in Christ.

SWEETSER, IND.,

Dear Saints: — I feel it to be the will of God that I write my testimony for the Trumpet. O praise God! I am trusting in Him for all things, and I do praise Him for sweet deliverance from all the works of the devil; He gives me sweet peace in my soul when the devil is raging in our midst. I feel perfectly free in my soul, and by God’s assisting grace and power I will stand firm for God in spite of the devil. I am young but I can praise God for salvation. The devil is as a roaring lion going up and down the world seeking whom he may devour. But I do praise God, that I am resting on the strong arm of Jesus, and He does sweetly save me. I am fully redeemed, and all on the altar. Your sister under the blood.

Liberty Center, O.,

To the Gospel Trumpet, Greeting: —  The Lord leads me to write a few lines and give you some of my experience. I was regenerated March 18, 1866, and had peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Glory to His name! from that time I longed for the blessing of perfect love, and sought for it until Aug. 20, 1880. When I obeyed Romans 12:1, 2, I found the baptism of the Holy Ghost swept the evil nature out of my heart that regeneration did not. My wife and I were sanctified wholly to God. O praise His name! I can say I am saved from sect and sectarianism. When I was in the U. B. sect they thought I was a good fellow until they found that I had the second benefit and was anointed for God’s work, so they expelled us from their fold because we testified to entire sanctification. I then joined at another place but God soon called me out of there and now I am saved completely from all these things.

A few years ago a sister from Florida, O. sent me a number of the Gospel Trumpet and a pamphlet telling what the Church was, and is; 1 read them with much pleasure, and it was just as God said in His Word. Wife and I attended a meeting at Ridgeville, O., Sept. 2nd where the saints were assembled to hear God’s Word. The Lord helped brother Palmer to give the Word straight to the people. The saints were refreshed and sinners convicted.

The Lord bless the TRUMPET in carrying the good news over the land until all people shall hear the joyful sound, and crafts and creeds shall be buried beneath the rubbish of sin where it belongs; When God’s people shall see eye to eye and face to face. I am your saved brother through the blood and anointed with the Holy Ghost.

Dear Brethren: — For sometime I have felt led to write my testimony. I thank God for salvation that keeps me rejoicing in Christ. It is only a little over a year since I stepped out into the freedom that Christ has for all His children. Praise His holy name for the victory I have in my soul! Just before I left the sect, one one of the sisters said to me, “hold on a while longer until conference, then we will have a man sent here who will staighten things up.” But I praise God He did not leave me there where I was starving for the pure Word, and where the preacher himself would deny part of the blessed Word of God. I belong to a Church now that does not have a yearly conference, but is kept straight by Christ the head of all. I can not praise God enough for what He has done for me; He has taken the appetite of tea and coffee away to which I was a great slave. He has healed my body, when the doctor under whose care I was, told me that the only way I could get well was to change climates. Well I just feel as though I had changed climate, for the air is so free and pure with the love of God. I do not sec how any one can get along in this world of sin and trials without Jesus for their friend. When I was in the sect I wanted the brothers and sisters to come out with me, but in place of their coming out they kept dragging me along with them; but now I am on the Solid Rock, and can hold the pure Word of God out to them which will bring them out if they will only cling to it. Dear brothers and sisters pray for me that I may ever live faithful to the end. Your sister in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — I feel led to write my testimony and to tell the dear saints that I am still saved and trusting in God. O how I long to see some of the dear ones once more; it seems the more I see God’s true people and hear them, the more I long to be with them. I thank God for the privilege of attending the grove-meeting at Ridgeville in August, and to hear dear Bro. Palmer; may God bless him and keep him faithful. It does do my soul good to meet with so many of God’s little ones. I am praying God to send some of His ministers to this place to preach the Word in its purity; if any one can, and feels led to come and help in the work, our house is open for the saints for a home as long as God may see fit to use them in this place. One of my children was violently kicked by a mule; I was very much frightened at first, but the children of God have the privilege of calling upon the best of Physicians; so I laid on hands in the name of the Lord and he was instantly relieved, for which I give God all the glory. Dear Saints: — I feel the Lord wants me to write my testimony this morning, and tell what the Lord has done for me, praise His holy name for this blessed holy rest that I have in my soul this morning. I know I am saved and sanctified by a second work of grace. Glory be to Jesus, in His name I write, for He has snatched em as a brand from the eternal burning, and set me on the Rock Christ Jesus, and He has saved my life for some wise purpose, and I do not know why unless it is for me to work for my blessed Savior. Oh! I do thank God that He has provided me a home with dear brother Walter’s family and we are all ready to do with our might mind and strength what the Lord has for me to do. With the grace of God in our heart to help us praise His holy name! it is wonderful how the Lord is giving me light on His Word and leading me to do His will, and God helping me I will walk in all the light He gives me I do not intend to let the devil get me tangled up in the sects again, for God has called me out to work for Him. I attended a meeting of saints six miles east of Auburn and went to the altar and God pardoned me of all my sins; and on the 25, day of Aug. I presented my body a living sacrifice for sanctification, and now I am free indeed for whom the Son makes free is free indeed. And I have lost my mind and found the mind of Jesus, glory! glory be to Jesus, for a salvation that saves a poor sinner like me from all sin. Praise the Lord! we have been attending meeting at different places and the Lord is blessing us wonderfully. Last Sunday we met with the saints in Mongo, and had a glorious meeting, five were converted, one sanctified. Bro’s Howard and Schell were there holding meeting, one came to the altar last night and was pardoned of his sins. Praise our God for salvation. I ask all the saints to pray for me that I may always be ready to obey my Savior in all the commandments that He has given in His blessed Word. Amen!

Dear Brethren: — I feel led of the Lord to write my testimony this afternoon. I am saved by the precious blood of Jesus. The Word says, “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” And I find this true in my case, for He has forgiven all my sins. Glory be to His holy name! I praise God for this full and free salvation He gives to all who believe in Him. The way is so plain that the wayfaring man though a fool shall not err therein. Now brethren and sisters I want to give you a little advice, and that is, do not quench the Spirit I felt something telling me to go and talk with a brother, but the devil came around and whispered, you are tired, you do not want to walk so far, and perhaps he will not be at home, and if you go somewhere else it will do as much good; so finally the devil prevailed and I did not go. But from that time I felt the Spirit of the Lord withdrawing from me; I did not have that freedom in Christ that I had before, but I did not realize what it was and what I had done, and I prayed earnestly to God for Him to show me what I had done, and glory to His name He did show me that I had quenched His Holy Spirit; and I got right down on my knees and asked His forgiveness. Praise His name! He did forgive me, and now I am basking in the sunlight of God’s eternal truth again. Your brother saved and under the blood.

Dearly Beloved Saints: — I feel led to write my testimony for the glory of God. I praise God for a salvation that keeps me from all sin; I am saved and kept by the mighty power of God. Hallelujah? I am saved every moment, and ready to be revealed in the last times. Praise our God forever and ever! who always causes us to triumph in victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen! Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm youselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin. That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. — 1. Peter 4:1, 2. But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. Use hospitality one to another without grudging. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. — 1 Peter 4:7-10.

Finally be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another; love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous. Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evil doers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. Amen! Christ says, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. Glory to His holy name! Dear Saints of God, Greeting: — I feel led by the Spirit of God to write my testimony for the TRUMPET. I do praise God for what he has done for me, for I know that He has saved and sanctified me both soul and body and placed my feet on the solid Rock Christ Jesus. I am only fourteen years old but I know that Christ blesses the young as well as the old. Dear Brethren: — I feel led to write my testimony. Glory to God for saving my soul and keeping me from all sin. It has been about two years since I found the sweet love of Jesus in my soul and the Holy Sanctifier. Thank God for the sanctifying power! When we have it in our souls, we have something that will hold us up above this world of sin; and keeps us preserved in Him. Praise God! for the way He leads His true children in to all truth. What a glorious way to live to obey our Father and to walk as He commands us to walk. Glory to God! He has said in His blessed Word that He would be in us and walk in us, and glory to God! I believe it. I have often thought when I would hear professors testify that it was hard work to live a christian, and the cross was heavy to bear, that I believed it. But I thank God that I can say that I have a salvation that is easy to bear, and a salvation that will keep all if they are only willing to pay the price; that is to die to the things of this world, such as pride, worldly pleasure, and everything that is contrary to the will of God. Well I am glad that I was willing to pay the price and God saved my soul; and now I am able to testify of His love, for He has left us to testify of Him, and to do His will in all things.

When we are in Christ we are workers for Him; God’s children are always ready to do His Will. Glory to God! the old bitterness is all gone, and nothing but love remains in the holy christian. May God save the people and bring them to obey His Word in all things, and be made whole, for without, holiness no man shall see the Lord. The old man is dead and the new man is within. Thank God for the evening light that has come; a light that makes His little ones shine with its brightness; and makes them not fear to stand up and testify of His love. There is no fear in the true children of God. For the Word says, “perfect love casteth out fear.” Praise God! it makes my heart rejoice to see the little ones stand up with the glory shining in their faces, testifying to what the Lord has done for their souls. I thank God when we have Jesus in us we have a friend who keeps us above this world of sin, ready to be revealed at His coming. Dear saints of God pray for us. Your Bro. in Christ.

Sister Sarah A. Koonce, was born Aug, 27, 1809. She died at her home near Barkeyville, Pa., July 31st 1888, aged 78 years 11 months and four days. She was a ripe shock of corn for the Master. The last few years she was in the sect she was one of their most spiritual and earnest members. But when she heard the present truth, and the call of the Gospel to come out of babylon, she walked in the glorious evening light, a living sacrifice to the Lord. She never seemed to weary, waiting on the saints. Her son Charles is called into the Gospel ministry, and mother was always willing to take every possible responsibility upon herself, in order to enable him to go forth in the field. She devoted several hundred dollars in the last few years to the spread of the glorious Gospel of Christ. Even in her last illness she was unwilling her son should be called from the work.

Her last days were attended with great trial. Though she had previously been blessed with much holy joy, it seemed good unto the Lord that she must pass through one more severe trial with the enemy of her soul. But through all her faith held firm to the Lord, and she came forth as gold doubly refined in the fire, and went home to glory rejoicing in the Lord. Funeral services by the writer.

When I came to that place the first time, an entire stranger, four years ago, I enquired “who was worthy,” and was directed to her house where I found a welcome home, which continued so until her death. With all her kindness to God’s servants, and her desires to be saved, it seemed she failed to grasp the promises of God. For some reason it being difficult to exercise the necessary faith. O how important it is to be saved in Jesus, while mind and body are still in youth and vigor. How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation. God bless her children and surviving friends, and save them all.

BISHOP OF BAAL.

—:o:—

AN M. E. paper named “The Christian Witness, and Advocate of Bible Holiness,” of May 17th 1888, which, as its title indicates, claims to be a holiness paper, reports the following.

The following echo comes from the General Conference: “Rev. Charles C. McLean, of St. John’s River created quite a sensation by offering a resolution to the effect that no one should be elected or consecrated bishop until he had taken a cast- iron oath to abstain from the use of tobacco. Bishop Foster smiled when it was read. It is well known that he likes a good cigar. The result was that the resolution was voted down.”

An act to require the M. E. bishop elects to keep their mouths clean seems to have been quite a surprising thing, producing no small thing in the General Conference. Doubtless it was looked upon as a very extreme infringement upon their rights, to require new candidates to the Baal bishoprick to abstain from their filthy lusts.

The resolution was voted down. Of course many of those M. E. D. D’s, loved their cigars, and quid very dearly, and having an itching in their heart for promotion to the high babylon office of bishop would vote the restriction down so that they could both serve the base lusts of the flesh, and aspire to the office of bishop. When a resolution to require the highest official rank of M. E. ism to be clean men, is voted down, what must be the filthiness of the whole concern from head to foot. Surely the whole thing is corrupt, when even the bishops must have their tobacco.

And now we get the astonishing information that Bishop Foster, likes his good cigars. In the name of Jesus we ask, where will we look for any thing clean in the polluted city of babylon? Bishop Foster is said to be the most venerated, and honorable of the bishops of that sect, and he loves his sweet morsel of sin. What must be the filthiness of the rest? He has always been prominent as a holiness representative in Methodism, has written a book on “Christian Purity,” and behold his old age is yet tarnished with the filth of tobacco, and the sun of his life is setting in a cloud of smoke. Surely “babylon is fallen, is fallen.”

So Methodism from top to bottom refuses to put away their idols.

And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of host, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings; yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart. — Mala. 2:1, 2.

Praise God for salvation full and free! We had two meetings here this summer, and the Lord met with us. Bro’s. Clayton and Koonce preached the straight Word of God to the people, and they gave good attention, and my prayer is that it may get down deep in their hearts so it may never leave them. On the 16th of July I had the pleasure to speak to Bro. Evans; he is in the work here for ..od, and he preached here on the 15th of July, and every night until the 22nd. May God bless his labors wherever he goes; and my prayer is that, he may stand firm on the Rock Christ Jesus. One of our dear sisters left this sinful world and has gone to Heaven. O may we so live that we may meet around God’s bright Throne in Heaven. For we know that, if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. — 2 Cor. 5:1. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. — 1 Peter 1:4, 5.

May God bless all the little ones that they may meet sister Koonce in Heaven, where parting will be no more. We will take God’s Word, and let come what will, His Word is true. All Infidels when they come to change time for eternity, talk different, think different, and have nothing to hold on to, but go headlong down to hell with their eyes wide open. May God help them to get the scum off their eyes so they may see the Word of God as He wants them to see; not my will, but thy will be done. I let God reign and rule in me; praise His holy name forever and ever! Your brother saved from all sin.

Dear Gospel Trumpet readers, and all the saints everywhere: — I feel to testify once more of the goodness of God to me. O praise the name of our God forever and ever! “Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.” “He withholdeth no good thing from them that walk uprightly.” O I do love Jesus this morning; He has been exceedingly good to me. Praise His glorious name forever! “In the time of trouble he did hide me in his pavilion, in the secret of his tabernacle he hid me; he set me up upon a rock.” “Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy. I will sing; yea I will sing praises unto the Lord.”

It seems to me that this place is another of the dark places of the earth; and I sometimes think I feel like Lot in Sodom, when they said: “His righteous soul was vexed from day to day by the filthy conversation of the wicked.” Yet God keeps us by His power, and we are doing all we can to scatter the light which God has given us. We were in Terre Haute with other of the saints holding meeting one week; we had perfect victory during the whole meeting. There are a few there who remember Bro. Warner, when he held a camp-meeting in that place some years ago; and they are anxious for him to come back again. We believe God has yet a few souls in Terre Haute who will be saved.

Nearly one year has passed away since we left our home in Pa., and went out, scarcely knowing whither we went, but believing that God could be more glorified in our coming out here, than by our staying at home. I just left myself in the hands of the Lord, saying: “Thy will be done.” I have never enjoyed so much of the glory, joy, and power of the Holy Ghost as I have in the last year. The dealings of God with our soul is indeed wonderful.

“In the secret of His presence,
All the darkness disappears;
For a sun, that knows no setting,
Throws a rainbow on my tears.
So my peace grows deep and deeper,
Widening as it nears the sea,
For my Savior is my keeper,
Keeping mine and keeping me.”

Pray for me dear ones, that I may be faithful and true to God under all circumstances, “that I may have right to the tree of life, and enter in through the gates into the city.” Amen! Your humble sister saved to the uttermost.

Dear Readers of the Trumpet: — Of late I have felt impressed to write a short sketch of my life. I was left an orphan when fifteen months old; my grandparents took me to raise, yet the Lord watched over me and visited me by His Spirit, in dreams when I was quite young. I remember once when I was small I dreamed of seeing the Saviour; I thought He stood in the sun and had a crown of gold on His head and was so dazzling bright it frightened me. He spoke to me and said “fear not, the earth is the Lord’s and the fulness thereof”. But as I grew older these impressions wore away; I began to think of the customs and fashions of the world, and I lost all relish for religion, or good people, but the Lord did not forsake me. Praise His name! the summer after I was ninteen I was followed by convictions by day and night; many a night I did not go to sleep till after midnight, not daring to close my eyes to sleep for fear I would die, for I knew I would go down to hell. Promising the Lord to serve Him, and as often breaking my promise, until one day it seemed as though a voice spoke to me saying, if I did not give up then, it would be the last call, that I should be cut off. I then and there promised the Lord I would obey. I was alone with no one to teach me. I was at no meeting during this time, but alone with my God; but when my sins were forgiven I knew it, and felt such sweet peace and comfort in my soul. I believe I was truly converted for I had to leave the world and the friendship of all my youthful worldly companions; or rather they left me; for when I could not go with them in all their folly and foolishness they did not care for my company, for I was led out of all parties and foolish jesting. I had to take up the cross and follow Jesus acording to the light I then had, which brought on me reviling, I had to read and pray, which I never heard my grandparents do, yet they were professors of religon; they thought I was getting crazy; but after awhile I left the Friend’s for my grandfather had requested me to become a member of their church when I was a child. I withdrew from them, then I went with the M. E. church. But I found so much corruption there that I did not stay with them long; still I was walking in all the light I then had. I did not join any church for a long time, I believe I was sanctified, all was on the altar that I knew of, and I had great peace of mind, and enjoyed prayer meeting and testimony meetings. But most every place I went I would meet with opposition if I mentioned a holy life. I found none received that doctrine of a life free from sin, finally joined the Winebrennarian church and concluded to say nothing upon the subject of holiness, for I thought no one could-understand me and I had better say nothing on the subject; so I lived their way till I lost nearly all the light I had, but here I first saw the necesity of keeping Christ’s commands such as feet washing, and water baptism, and the Lord’s supper. But after awhile we chanced to hear a brother preach, which made me rejoice to find some that believed as I did on sanctification as a second work, but could not see the necessity of coming out from the sect, but praise the Lord! I am on a line with the Bible doctrine of holiness, the one Church of the living God. When I was baptized I had sweet peace in my soul, I found another command that I had not thought of: “Is any sick among you let them send for the elders of the Church to lay hands on them anointing them with oil” when I had done that, I felt I had done all on my part and I was permitted to see this high way of holiness which appeared to be a bright path of pure light and on either side was dark clouds of smoke. I saw myself on this way in robes of white flowing down over my feet, and I was nearer the pearly gates than to earth. O glory to Jesus I am washed, I am sanctified! Praise the Lord! Last winter I was in poor health and suffered much pain which grew worse, so I look it to the Lord in prayer; the answer I got was to send for sister Emma Lyon, and have her to lay hands on me and I should be healed. We did send, but received no answer for some time, which caused me to doubt, then this passage of scripture came to my mind “Ye have need of patience after you have done the will of God that ye might receive the promise.” Alter I had hands laid on, for nearly two weeks I was tried the worst I ever was; the devil tried hard to beat me out of the blessing but praise the Lord I was healed. I give Him all the glory. Now I do praise the Lord for all He has done for me, He is all my joy and salvation. I am your sister in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — May God bless you all abundantly, and keep you through faith unto salvation. I praise God for this glorious salvation which Jesus brought into the world whereof we may, if we will, all be partakers. He keeps those who are His free from all sin, abounding continually, in every good word and work. The work of the Lord is prospering at this place. The Church, which he has planted here is prospering in spiritual things. The Spirit, is continually partaking of the things of the Lord and showing them unto us. Praise His holy name forevermore! We have glorious meetings, on account of this outpouring of the Spirit of God in the hearts of the people. Jesus reigns supreme in the hearts of the saints. On Sept. 25, we are expecting Bro. J. P. Haner of Kan. to conduct a series of meetings here and adjoining towns; we are expecting a rich spiritual feast, during the progress of these meetings; let us all trust that the Lord will come down our souls to greet, and glory crown, the mercy seat. That sinners will be awakened, that the little ones will be strengthened in the faith, and that many will be added to the Church of such as shall be saved. Your saved brother.

Rochester, Ind.,

To all the Dear Saints, Greeting: —  have been impressed for some time to write my testimony. I had heard of the saints for three or four years, and finally they had meeting at Hoover Station, and I was persuaded through curiosity to go and hear them for I had heard of the heavenly music which they sang. So I went more to hear that than any thing else. But praise the Lord! when I heard Bro. Speck preach one sermon of the straight Word of God, I told my wife that they were truly the children of God; so I continued to attend the meeting, and on examining the New Testament, I found I was like the publican wheat he and the Pharisee went up to the temple to pray. I found myself still a sinner, for I had never heard any thing but justification taught. I met a Baptist a few days ago who was so in darkness that he thought man could not get any farther than a justified state, until just in the dying moments; he held to the idea that men must sin and become backsliders else Christ could not be married to them; because Christ said He was married to the backsliders. I pray God to deliver all such from heathen blindness and delusions of the devil.

Well brethren when I belonged to the Christian Church as they call themselves, I would get up and confess my sins with the rest of them, because we were all like the publican, only in a justified state. But I praise His holy name for delivering me out of babylon, and plaining my feet upon the Rock Christ Jesus. Pray for me that my faith fail not, but that God may increase it, and that I may be enabled to continue faithful even unto the end and be ready when the Bridegroom cometh, to enter in with Him to the marriage feast. Your Bro. in Christ.

Beloved Saints of God: — I feel it would be to the honor and glory of God for me to write my testimony to the GOSPEL TRUMPET. I praise God to day for His Spirit witnessing with my spirit that I am a child of God and my name is written in Heaven among the firing witnesses who are redeemed by the blood of the crucified Son. I have a precious experience that measures up to the Word of …. Praise the Lord! for sending His… sister to this place who preached the straight Word of God to this wicked and perverse generation. Praise the Lord!

God gent His servants from afar,
The joyful news to tell;
Tast we might all be saved from sin,
And in His presence dwell.

Your sister saved and sanctified, and out of babylon forever. Amen!

Dear Saints: — I came here over two years ago and have not heard any sermons within that time that done my soul as much good as the least one I found in the TRUMPET of July 1st which my parents sent me from Ohio. I saw a piece in that number written by my dear mother from Clarks Corners, and this encouraged me to leave the world and its vanities, and press on to meet those dear ones who are travelling to that better land where there will be no more parting but eternal joy

Union Town, Md.,

Dear Saints of God: — I am praying the Lord to send some of His servants to this idolatrous little village. The people have their houses covered and their bodies filled with idols. All the costly, extravagant, vulgar fashions of the world; and they riot in picnics, festivals, and parties of all kinds. Their hireling priest and family lead them into all this sinful idolatry. The people who wrongfully call themselves the Church of God, are the worst of all sects in this place; their priest is a lazy, fat glutton; nearly all use tobacco, coffee and tea. They have a camp-meeting commencing the 10th of Aug., and continuing to the 19th. They have their organ on the stand and are straining every nerve, for they are beginning to see their craft is in danger.

I have been distributing the TRUMPET among the people and they say it is very good, and there are more who want it. I love it next to my Bible, and it is giving the people much light that they never saw before, and babylon is trembling for fear of her loss, which is evidently near.

I am still all alone with Jesus, but I have a strong arm to lean upon. I am earnestly contending for the faith once delivered to the saints; but they want a preacher, therefore come in the name and Spirit of Christ, with power and perfect love to quench all the darts of the enemy, to the glory of God. Amen!

I am grieved from day to day seeing and knowing how the people are deceived and blindfolded by the blind priests of sect babylon, and the goddess of fashion. I read in the TRUMPET of so many good meetings held throughout the country, and I think much good might be accomplished in this place also.

I am safe in Jesus, sanctified and cleansed with His all cleansing blood. To Him be all the glory through boundless ages. I praise His holy name for the light. I have received on sect babylon, and forever leading me into the straight and narrow way that leads to life everlasting. I have a longing desire to see the dear saints in the flesh; Im poor and old, but I have a rich Father in Heaven who will provide for me. Your sister in Christ.

North Hampton, O.,

Dear Brethren: — I feel impressed by the Spirit to send in my testimony for Jesus, and to praise His name for His wonderful saving and keeping power. Praise His name forever and ever! Hallelujah! He is keeping me now; while I am writing I realize His Holy Spirit in my soul. Glory to His name! He is everything to me; He is my Savior, my keeper, and my sanctifier, and my all in all. We have prayer-meeting every Thursday night, and Bible reading and testimony meeting every Lord’s day, and we have the Holy Ghost to witness in every meeting. Praise our God forever and ever, who doeth all things well!

Dear saints pray much for us at this place, for it seems as though we are here where satan is opposing us with all his strength. Many of the sectarians will not let their children come to our prayer-meeting, and stay away themselves, thinking to break up our meeting; but they cannot do that, for less than six months ago there were only three who took part in the meeting and now there are nine, and others are counting the cost. Praise God for salvation full and free! I am out of babylon and babylon is out of me. Praise God for freedom! Remember us in your prayers. Amen! I am saved and sanctified just now.

Dear Saints: — I do praise God for full and free salvation that saves me from all sin. The Lord sanctifies my soul and keeps me by His mighty power. About a year ago He healed me instantaneously, when many thought I could not live. But I praise His holy name for His wonderful healing and saving power!

Dear Saints: — I feel led to write my testimony, and tell you that I am saved and sanctified, and washed in the blood of the Lamb. While attending a meeting at Auburn, Ind., I was taken very sick, and by the laying on of hands and faith in God, I was instantly healed. Praise God for His wonderful healing power! I am walking each hour and moment in the light even as He is in the light. Pray for me that I may ever be found faithful.
