Babylon is Fallen.

—:o:—

Hail the day so long expected,
Hail the year of full release,
Zion’s walls are now erected,
And the watchmen live in peace.
From the distant courts of Zion,
The shrill trumpets loudly roar,
Bab’lon’s fallen, fallen, fallen,
Babylon’s to rise no more.

Hark and hear the people crying,
See the city disappear,
Trade and traffic all are dying,
Lo they sink to rise no more.
Merchants who have bought her traffic,
Crying from a distant shore,
Bab’lon’s fallen, fallen, fallen,
Babylon’s to rise no more.

All her merchants cry with wonder,
What is this that comes to pass,
Murm’ring like a distant thunder,
Crying, Oh! Alas! alas!
Swell the sounds ye kings and nobles,
Priests and people, rich and poor,
Bab’lon’s fallen, fallen, fallen,
Babylon’s to rise no more.

Lo her captains are returning,
Up to Zion see them fly,
While the heavenly host rejoicing,
Shout and echo through the sky.
See the ancients of the city,
Terrified at the uproar,
Bab’lon’s fallen, fallen, fallen,
Babylon’s to rise no more.

Tune your harps ye heavenly choir,
Shout ye followers of the Lamb,
See the city all on fire,
Clap your hands and blow the flame,
Now’s the day of compensation,
Hope and mercy now are o’er,
Bab’lon’s fallen, fallen, fallen,
Babylon’s to rise no more.

A VISION.

—:o:—

DEAR Brethren: — In the year of 1884, I was invited by a dear saint of God to attend the saint’s meeting in Battle Creek. The first meeting I went to, the Lord showed me by His marvelous presence was all of God. I enjoyed seeing the dear saints lift up holy hands and sing the praises of God. “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord.” — Psalm 134:2.

Glory to His name! I went to the next meeting that was appointed, and there I heard, by the power of the Holy Ghost, through Bro. Warner, the awful judgments of God upon the sects. When I returned home that night, God gave me a vision.

I saw in a thick black cloud several weights swinging to and fro, with the rapidity of the pendulum of a clock. Directly in front of one of these weights I saw a large brick building, which the Lord impressed me was the Methodist house. I looked away to the east, and saw a mount, and upon it I saw a cross surrounded by saints, and a light from Heaven which shown down upon them brighter than the light of the noon-day Sun. I turned away from this glorious sight to look at the brick building once more, and I saw a pale yellow light across the threshold of the door, and from the windows streamed rays of stronger light of the same hue. Directly in front of the building was a crowd of people, and I was standing in the rear with them but passed through to the front of them, and turned to the east and was going up to the beautiful mount. But before reaching it I saw a small company gathered around the cross clothed in white garments and the light from Heaven shown brighter and brighter upon them, as they knelt around the cross.

Once more I saw in the dense, black cloud, which seemed almost impossible for the natural eye to penetrate, a long iron rod and on it were strung black strings and on every string was attached a black tag about the size of tags which are used for marking the prices of heavy goods, such as carpets &c. Hundreds of these tags were on the iron rod fluttering in the slight breeze, and their blackness was impossible to describe. Feeling incapable of finding the Scripture which would explain it clearly, I felt led of God to ask sister Lottie Blackwood to assist me in finding the Scripture, and putting our whole trust in the Lord we soon received the explanation of the vision.

Explanation on Vision.

The thick black cloud where. I saw seven weights swinging to and fro, is clearly represented in Joel 2:2. — “A day of darkness and of gloominess, or the morning spread upon the mountain;” And many other Scriptures that describe the darkness of the present dark religion in the sects. “This is the interpretation of the thing: mene; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. Tekel; Thou art weighed in the balances and art found wanting. — Dan. 5:26, 27. “Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man, and Lis number is six hundred, threescore and six. — Rev. 13:18. The Lord showed me that the brick building which I saw opposite of one of the weights, was the so called Methodist church of which I was then a member. And the crowd of people standing in front of it was the congregation. And the shadow of pale yellow light which streaked across the threshold of the door, and from the windows, was a false light, and the people of that sect as well as all other sects, are deceived by the false light. “And no marvel, for satan himself is transformed into an angel of light,” — 2 Cor. 11:14. “And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from Heaven on the earth in the sight of men.” — Rev. 13:13. “And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast, saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword and did live.” — Rev. 13:14. Yea “the light of the wicked shall be put out. and the spark of his fire shall not shine.” “The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his light shall be put out with him.” — Job 18:5, 6. God showed me that the Methodist sect was one among the number of the 666 sects of the beast, and God’s judgment is going forth upon them. “And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.” — Rev. 19:15.

The black tags suspended by strings on the iron rod, were the salaried ministers in the sects. They are all suspended, dumb, not having the Spirit. “The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the Lord, and say, Is not the Lord among us? none evil can come upon us.” — Micah 3:11. “Woe he unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the Lord.” — Jer. 23:1. “For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the Lord: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.” — Jer. 10:21. “Son of man prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God unto the shepherds, Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flock? Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock. The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost: but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled, them.” — Eze. 34:2, 3, 4.

The rod of iron so clearly seen in the vision, represents the sectarian power. “For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous: lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.” — Psalm 125:3.

In the part of the vision where I saw the tags swinging to and fro, the awful blackness of the scene was terrible to witness, and the atmosphere was so thick that it required but a breath of air to cause the tags to swing and flutter. They were thinner than wafers, and apparently had no weight. Praise God! the devil’s ministers have no weight with God. They are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting, and their doom is damnation unless they repent.

When I looked away to the east, and saw the beautiful mount with a cross upon it, and the glorious light from Heaven which shown down upon them, brighter than the light of the noon-day sun. I was solemnly impressed that the mount was mount. Zion the New Jerusalem, the holy City of our God, “And I John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God, out of Heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” — Rev. 21:2. “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of His holiness.”

“Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth is mount Zion, on the side of the north, the city of the great King.” — Psalm 48:1, 2.

“Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.” — Psa. 50:2.

When I stood in the rear of the crowd of people who were opposite the weight and brick building, I had an earnest warning to pass out from among them. Thank God for a willing heart to obey His voice. “Therefore come out from among them and he ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” — 2 Cor 6:17, 18.

When I drew near to mount Zion, the wonderful sight which met my view, was of the small company clothed in white garments, kneeling around the cross, and the flood of glorious light, brighter than the light of the noon-day sun grew brighter and brighter, as it poured its briliant rays down upon the little ones. The little company gathered around the cross were the blood-washed ministers and saints of God, washed and redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.

“I will also clothe her priests with salvation; and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.” — Psa. 132:16. “Who rnaketh His angels spirits, and His ministers a flaming fire.” — Psalm 104:4.

The beautiful white cross which they knelt around in humility was typical of Christ our sacrifice and altar. The bright and shining light from Heaven was the wonderful melting power of God pouring down upon them, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit clearly manifested. How wonderfully this sight impressed me that it was the true Church of God. “And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.” — Rev. 19:8.

“Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read; no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and His Spirit it hath gathered them.” — Isa. 34:16. “Praise ye the Lord, praise the Lord O my soul.” — Psa. 146:1.

“Praise Him for His mighty acts: praise Him according to His excellent greatness.” Psa. 150:2. His blessed Spirit hath granted us to worship Him in the beauty of holiness.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” — 1 Peter 2:9. “But ye are come unto Mt. Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the Heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels. To the general assembly and Church of the Firstborn which are written in Heaven, and to God the judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect. And to Jesus the mediator of the new Covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. — Heb. 12:22, 23, 24.

“For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and are built upon the foundation of the apostles, and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together, groweth into an holy temple in the Lord.”

In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. — Eph. 2:18-22. That He might present it to Himself, a glorious Church, not paving spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy, and without blemish.” — Eph. 5:27.

Praise His holy name forever! He has brought me to His holy mount of love, to the general assembly and Church of the First-born, whose names are written in Heaven. My name has been on two sect records; but praises be to our God! His Spirit beareth witness with my spirit that I am born of God and my name is recorded in Heaven.

“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.” — Rom. 8:14. Praise His name forever and ever! Amen!

May Smith.

THE KINGDOM IS WITHIN YOU.

—:o:—

I heard a man not long ago repeating the Lord’s prayer; he was a sect priest. It occured to me that he did not know the true meaning of the prayer, for he misquoted (to my mind) the key which unlocks the door by which God is permitted to enter into our bodies to set up His kingdom. He said “on earth.” The Spirit of truth led me to the following quotations.

Lord’s prayer, — Matt. 6:10 “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth as it is in Heaven.”

“We have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” — 2 Cor. 4:7.

And when He was demanded of the pharisees when the kingdom of God should come, He answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation, neither shall they say lo! here, or lo! there; for behold, the kingdom of God is within you. — Luke 17:20, 21.

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy which temple ye are. — 1 Cor. 3:16, 17.

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves, know ye not your own selves how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates. — 2 Cor. 13:5. Wherefore I give you to understand that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord but by the Holy Ghost. — 1 Cor. 12:3.

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jew’s or Gentiles whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit, that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care one for another. Now ye are the body of Christ and members in particular. — 1 Cor. 12:25, 27.

The above Scripture leads the mind to inquire, Is it possible to divide Christ’s body up between 666 different men-made institutions, between which are envy and strife, and hatred? Now I am of the body of Christ and a member in particular, but it does not seem possible to me Hint I could become a member of an harlot and retain membership in the body of Christ; that would be defiling the temple of God: for which we have God’s Word that the man that does it shall be destroyed.

I do thank God for sparing my life till I have seen, tasted, and felt the sweetness and completeness of the power of God, made manifest in my flesh as well as in others; 1 John 4:3, and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God. The Body of Christ here is in travail, and souls are being born into the kingdom of God.

I greet you with all the love the Father gives me, with a present experience that says I am saved and sanctified.

NEWS FROM TO FIELD.

—:o:—

Worstville, O. Feb. 9, ’87.

Dear Brethren: — We are praising God to-day for salvation from all sin. Glory to Jesus! the hand of the Lord is good on us. Hallelujah! We have just returned home from Latty Ohio, where we have been laboring and waging war against the devil. Hallelujah! Although there was no one got into the fountain, there were many hearts won to the truth, which dear Bro. A. J. Kilpatrick and I poured out in abundance in the power of the Spirit. O glory to God! He sent hail and fire mingled with blood. Bro. and sister Ogan were ranch strengthened, also Bro. and sister Ferree from Shelby Co. Ohio, who had moved to Latty for the winter, and will return home soon. God bless their dear souls, and save their children. Amen!

Bro. David Smith and wife of Washington Tp. were there, and labored with us in the Lord. Bro. K. remained, feeling led of the Lord to go to Burketsville O.,. to hold a meeting with the saints at that place.

Praise God! dear ones,

“With Christ our commander we know no defeat,
We’ve sounded a Trumpet that ne’er calls retreat.”

Hallelujah! we are in this war, and ready to “rush to the battle wherever He leads.”

Brethren let us build up the waste places and close up the breaches, and “gather together the elect from the four winds.” Hallelujah to God!

Your free Brother, “sought out,” sanctified and preserved in Christ Jesus. Having overcome, I now live in Rev. 3:11, 12.

J. N. Howard.

—:o:—

Versailes, O. March 2.

O praise the Lord for complete salvation in Jesus!

A few of the dear saints and myself came here to preach and labor in this wicked city. We commenced to hold meetings in private houses. But the saints prayed earnestly that the Lord would prepare a house for us to preach in. So the Lord caused a sinner to open a large hall that will seat about five or six hundred. He let us have it free of charge. Let us pray that the Lord may save his soul. The rest of the men that owned halls, wanted $2 1/2 a night. Souls are being saved and sanctified since we came here. This leaves us in possession of full and complete salvation, sanctified, tried, and made white in the blood of the Lamb, coming up through great tribulation.

Isaac Key.

—:o:—

Chanute, Kan. Mar. 4 ’87.

To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ Jesus, Grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied. Bro. J. H. Orr and I are here in the name of Jesus preaching the Word with the Holy Ghost sent down from Heaven in the M. E. (colored) meeting house.

We are out on the real uncompromising Bible line for God. Glory to Jesus!

M. E. Conference (babylon’s daughter) is now in session here, and is indeed fallen. They act like a lot of lawyers or dudes, and are wonderfully deceiving the people, God have mercy! God says, “shoot at her, spare no arrows.” This town needs “turning upside down,” and building and planting on the Rock that the gates of hell shall not prevail against.”

Beloved pray for us. Souls are seeking salvation. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen!

Your free brother, sanctified wholly.

J. B. Slagle.

—:o:—

St James, Mo.

Dear Brethren: — Glory to God! I am under the blood, cleansed from all sin. I am free for God, praise the Lord!

I am in the work for God all the time. Many souls are being saved in these parts, and many healed of various diseases.

We went to Rolla and had a glorious meeting, some converted, several sanctified, and many more convicted. The whole city was stirred, quite a number of the dear saints followed their Lord in baptism. Glory to God! The windows of Heaven were opened, and the Holy Ghost was showered down on us until we were not able to contain it.

Glory to God! the devil is wonderfully stirred, because baby Ion is fallen. God’s work is moving on in spite of all the devil can do. Wonderful cases of healing are wrought by the power of God.

Your Bro. sanctified wholly.

NOT ROOM ENOUGH.

Many saints write us articles that we have not sufficient space in the TRUMPET columns to insert. Out of love and respect for the dear little ones we are loth to cast away those articles, and so we often carry them about for some time, but find neither time to correct, nor room to insert. Sometimes when written by pencil, we carry them about until not readable, and have to cast them away at last. We hope that no dear saint will think that they are excluded from the TRUMPET, because some things they write do not appear. Let all be sure to write only what the Spirit of God gives. Try to be as brief as possible, and write plain with good ink. We do not find time and space to give all that the Lord gives us, as well as to prepare and use all that others send. Let no one be discouraged so as to keep back what the Lord gives you. The Lord wants the paper principally filled with salvation news, and salvation testimony. The Lord bless all the holy nation, and peculiar people.

Pray for us.

TEE SIGN OP THE SON OF MAN IN HEAVEN.

—:o:—

“IMMEDIATELY after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from Heaven, and the powers of the Heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in Heaven.” — Matt. 24:29, 30.

When Jesus Christ came into the world He brought life, and immortality, and light. And the light shown in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. But as many as received Him, to them the light was clear. “And to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” At this time the light was clear, and every one that came into the light were lightened. “That was the true light, which lighteneth every man that cometh into the world.” — John 1:9. “But unto you that fear my name, shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings.” — Mal. 4:2.

The morning is the beginning of the day, or the time of the sun’s rising. The morning is soon past. The Psalmist says “If I take the wings of the morning,” denoting a rapid flight; there being no motion we know of so rapid as the diffusion of the beams of the sun at the breaking of the day. Jesus was the morning Sun, that arose in His Church with mighty power. But on the account of the clouds of sin. He soon became obscure. Or as the prophet Amos (8:9,) says, “I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.”

Jesus says, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened.” That is immediately after the destruction and scattering of the Jews. About the year A. D. 70 the destruction of Jerusalem took place, and from this time the Jews were scattered into all nations. But just how long the destruction and scattering or tribulation of those days lasted I am unable to say. According to prophecy, Rev. and the signs of the times, the sun began to he darkened about the year 270, when the twelve hundred and sixty days began — Rev. 11:3; and Rev. 13:5. And according to Eze. 4:6, a day for a year, it would make 1260 years, the reign of the first beast — Rev. 13:5. It is an evident fact that Roman Catholicism was the first beast, and according to history the pope lost his power about the year 1530. Now count back twelve hundred and sixty years, we have 270, making the time when the Church began to go into apostacy, when the clear day was darkened and the sun went down at noon. Amos 8:9. When that man of sin was revealed the son of perdition, 2 Thess. 2:3.

Through all the 1260 years the Church was in darkness, “God’s people were sawn in sunder, driven about, tortured with the most severe tortures, and put to death.” Thus saith the Lord, concerning the prophets that cause my people to err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace: and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him. Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them. — Micah 3:56. And the moon (Word of God) shall not give her light. God’s Word was in obscurity and darkness all these 1260 Yrs.

The person who made the first attack on the extravagant superstitions then prevailing was Martin Luther; about the year 1530 The people openly renounced the papal supremacy, and the thought of escaping papal darkness was welcomed by all those who had long sat in its superstitions. “If any man have an ear, let him hear.”

We have now come to the time when the second beast made his appearance. “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him.” — Rev. 13:11, 12. “And to the Woman, (God’s Church) was given the wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. — Rev. 12:14. “And the stars shall fall from Heaven” (scattering of God’s holy ones into the sects). The second beast is Protestant sectarianism and division; for it is said, “Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666.” — Rev. 13:18.

We see that sectarianism measures up to the number, and exerciseth all the power that the Roman Catholic papacy did.

The first beast was cast down about the year 1530, and the reign of the second beast followed immediately after it. And the Church is nourished in her for a time and times, and half a time, which is, being interpreted 350 years, completing the time of the Church of Christ in these sects, which is babylon. While the Church was in Romanism it was in total darkness. — Micah 3:6. And while she was in the Protestant sects it was, “Not clear nor dark.” — Zech. 14:6. But it shall come to pass that at evening time it shall be light. 7. Praise God!

And the powers of the Heavens shall be shaken. The voice is heard, “Come out of her my people.” — Rev. 18:4.

Praise our God and the Lamb forever and ever! “Light breaks forth as in the morning.” — Isa. 58:8. Looking forth as the morning. — Cant. 6:10. The morning light was clear, so shall the evening be, for it shall be as the morning. Glory to Jesus! “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen.” — Rev. 18, 2. “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in Heaven. When ye shall see these things, know that the end is near, even at the door.” — Matt. 24:29.

I tell you dear readers “the holy city, New Jerusalem is coming down from Heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” — Rev. 21:2. Praise God! “That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious Church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” — Eph. 5; 26, 27. Glory to Jesus! I am saved and sanctified.

KEEP THE UNITY.

—:o:—

La Paz, Ind. Feb. 15, ’87.

DEAR brethren, and readers of the GOSPEL TRUMPET. My testimony is, I am saved this moment and kept by the power of God. Praise the Lord for salvation that keeps us every day. We have an assembly of about thirty saints in this vicinity that stands true to God, and we had a glorious meeting at dear Bro. Row’s last Wednesday night, although the cause of Christ is somewhat hindered here. One Cause of disturbance is the sin of evil speaking. All evil speaking is in its nature deadly poison to the soul of the tale bearer and the hearer, and all harmony, Spirituality, and power, by it driven away. If thy brother trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between him and thee alone. — Matt. 18:15.

Fanaticism is another hinderance to the Church of God. While doubtless there are ninety-nine dead formalists to one fanatic, yet there is more hope of changing the ninety nine than the one fanatic; for a genuine fanatic is unmanagable: he will listen to no advice, professes to he led by the Spirit, thinks every body is backslidden who does not agree with him. Beware of that daughter of pride, fanaticism. O keep at the utmost distance from it. Do not easily suppose dreams, visions and revelation to be from God. They may be from Him, they may be from nature, they may be from the devil. “Therefore believe not every spirit, but try the spirits, whether they be from God. Try all things by the written Word, and let all bow down before it. One general inlet to fanaticism is expecting the end without the means, expecting knowledge for instance, without searching the Scriptures. Some have been ignorant of this device of satan. They have left off searching the Scriptures. They say God writes all Scripture on my heart. Therefore I have no need to read it. O take warning! You have listened to the voice of a stranger. Fly back to Christ and keep the good old way.

My prayer is that God would greatly bless the TRUMPET, and soon make it a weekly, for it is tire only paper I know of that stands square out face to face with God and man, and that testifies against all wickedness. It is a good holiness sermon to me whenever it comes. Amen! Yours in Christ.

HOLINESS A SECOND WORK.

—:o:—

Melrose Ohio.

Dear Brethren: — I wish to say to you through the TRUMPET, that dear brother A. J. Kilpatrick was permitted to meet with the dear saints here again. The meeting was held at Bro. David Smith’s which lasted several days. The power of God was manifested in the salvation of precious souls. Yet for some cause toward the close of the meeting a cloud of darkness seemed to settle down upon the saints, but glory to Jesus! all of God’s children who are fully saved are standing him, with their shoulder to the work, knowing that the gates of hell cannot prevail against them, for they are founded upon the Rock. Praise God forever and ever! My soul is filled with the glory of God.

Dear brethren, my testimony is that I am wonderfully saved, justified, sanctified, tried, and made white in the blood of the Lamb, and have overcome the wicked one, being dead to sin and alive unto God, Glory to Jesus for the power of the Holy Spirit, which is the teacher in my soul, that brings all things to my remembrance. Praise God forever and ever! The doctrine of entire sanctification, as a work subsequent to regeneration, or our failure to believe in the attainability of a present entire holiness involves a disbelief of one or more of the following propositions.

  1. The atonement fails to make entire holiness attainable in this life.
  2. The Bible does not promise such a present condition.
  3. Death must complete the destruction of sin. How if death completes the work, then we have two Saviors, Christ and death. Not only so, but the philosophy of such a death, Purgatory, is as bad as the theology. Because if death is the effect of sin, then sin, the effect, is destroyed by its cause, namely, sin. Now it is not necessary to produce evidence that God has power to impart entire holiness in this life, the only issue is, does the plan of salvation as presented in the Scriptures offer entire holiness in this life? Paul says, “and the very God of peace sanctify you wholly, and I pray God your whole spirit, and soul, and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” The merest tyro in grammatical criticism knows that the present tense is here used. He does not pray that death may kindly come to the rescue and finish the work of the atonement. He does not pray that this work of sanctification may be consummated after death; he shows that this whole sanctification has deeper depths, and higher heights. He prays that they may be preserved blameless. But of course they must first be made blameless, before they can be preserved blameless in entire holiness. Does Paul pray that they may be preserved blameless in heaven after having passed through a death purgatory? No one doubts that the saints in Heaven will be preserved blameless. Such a thing could not be an object of inspired prayer. Of course then the preservation in complete holiness is in this life. It is worthy of special consideration that Paul urges immediate, entire holiness upon those who had already attained justification. He addresses them as brethren beloved, whose election is of God. This proves that entire holiness is not imparted in justification: hence all who teach that complete holiness is attained, or given simultaneously with justification are in an error. At the time Paul wrote to the Thessalonians they were not wholly sanctified, or at least a portion of them were not, though previously justified. — 1 Thess. 4:1. Furthermore, then we beseech you brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. Here Paul calls them brethren, which implies that they were regenerated, and in the 3d Vr. he says, “For this is the will of God even your sanctification.”

In Eph. 5:26, he again in speaking of the Church, says “that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, (27) that He might present it to Himself a glorious Church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing: But that it should be holy and without blemish..”

Paul in his letter to the Thess. speaks of the attainment of entire holiness as a future attainment after the reception of has letter to them. But he gives no intimation that he is praying for a death purgatory. He prays for a present, practical … to … a practical attainment of this entire holiness. The Apostle says “Faithful is He that calleth you who also will do it.” Can we not trust the power and faithfulness of God? If we say that we have no sin (previous to our justification, or entire sanctification) we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” “It we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all iniquity.” John uses the present tense, showing that it is attainable in this life. There is not the remotest intimation of a death purgatory.

Again John says, “these things I write unto you that ye sin not.” Praise God! We see that we must not commit sin. But some say we cannot attain a state of grace where we can live above sin. Praise God! If the Gospel scheme only removes part of our sins in this life, something more definite ought to be known: it is certainly useless to pray for entire holiness in this life if it cannot be attained. The Bible should reveal how much sin can be removed, so that our prayers could be definite: if the atonement scheme cannot in this life cleanse from the heart more than three fourths, or ninetynine one hundredths of our impurity, let the Bible say so. We confidently conclude therefore, that a scheme that cannot, or does not save man fully from sin in this life is unworthy of God, untaught in His Word, and inconsistent with the Heavenly mission of Him who came to save the people from their sins, not in their sins. Praise God! the true light now shineth.

From your brother sanctified and kept by the power of God.

Rising Sun O.

I do praise the Lord that I know I am saved this evening to the very uttermost. Glory to God! And I have the sweet peace of God in my soul all the time. Though I have learned that I dare not walk by sight, but “the just shall live by faith.” O I tell you the devil has tried hard to devour me, but glory be to God I have always found His grace sufficient for me. O I cannot praise the Lord enough for what He has done for me. I do thank God that He sent Bro. Warner and his little company to our place; for they were the means of bringing me to the Savior. Praise the Lord! If they had not come here and taught the true Gospel, I would no doubt yet be in the sect in “good standing,” but without salvation. But glory be to God! I am cut of babylon, and am straight for God. O it is just wonderful how the Lord manifests Himself unto us in our prayer meetings. Bro. Spackey was here last Sabbath and we had a glorious time. Your saved sister.

Tiffin, O.

Dear GOSPEL TRUMPET readers: — Some forty years ago I was truly converted, but I felt condemned for using tobacco. I told the church, but they talked me out of it and said I wanted to know more than the preachers, so I said no more about it. Two years later I was sanctified, then I did not ask their advice. I told them a man could not be a true Christain and use tobacco; I was greatly persecuted and counted as a black sheep in the flock. I gave way and soon found I was loosing ground. I then went to Wayne Co., and I got among the U. B’s, who persuaded me to join with them, and they took my name to the conference, and I was elected Book Agent for the U. B’s book establishment at Dayton. I attended the Evangelical Camp-meeting at Bettsville, where I was thrown out of the sect. There I heard the first sermon preached on sanctification. I told them that was what I lost, and that is what I must have. I went forward with some of the rest and received a wonderful blessing. I thought I was sanctified, but found out in a day or two I was mistaken, I was only justified. I thought I had backslidden from sanctification into justification, but that is impossible. I am afraid there are hundreds in the same condition. I sought and received the blessing of entire sanctification with abundance of increase. It is eighteen years since I received this Comforter. I am among sixteen sects, but God gives grace to stand. Your Bro.

Dear Brethren: — Praise God! I feel led to write my testimony for the TRUMPET. This morning finds me well, and saved to the uttermost. Praise God! Nov. 11th, the Lord saved my soul. O praise God for His wonderful mercy to me. Up to that time I had been a very wicked sinner.

While attending a meeting at Hamer O., hold by Bro’s A. L. Kilpatrick, D. R..t and J. N. Howard, the Lord got hold of my hard heart. At first I did not know what it meant, nor what it was: I never had any such feelings before, hut after two days and nights I yielded to the Savior’s voice, and came low down at His feet, and cried for mercy. And the Lord was faithful and just to forgive me of my sins. After this I found the evil nature in me which was not taken out at justification, and I also found that Christ died to destroy the works of the devil, and it was the will of God that I be sanctified. I went down under the cleansing blood, and the very God of peace did sanctify me wholly. Praise God! this morning my sky is clear.

I left Ohio in Dec., and came to Beaver Dam, and went from there to Sweetser Ind. and helped to fight the battles of the Lord there with Bro. Warner and company. Hallelujah! Came from there to Yellow Lake. Praise God! I am laboring with my hands, and am content with Jesus. Praise God! Dear saints pray for me. I am saved, sanctified, and kept by the mighty power of God, ready to be revealed in the last days. Amen!

Your Bro. under the cleansing blood.

Fayette, O.

Dear Brethren: — I feel led to write once more. This evening finds me well, and praising God for full salvation. The lord is wonderfully saving me. O I do praise God for this narrow way. I do feel and know for myself that I am fully saved and sanctified; It is just wonderful what God will do for us when we are wholly given up to Him. I would to God that all who profess to know Him had this fulness. O how my soul is burdened for poor deluded souls. Bro. Brodbeck from Archbold O., brought Bro. Wm. H. Miller to this place yesterday. We had meeting in a private house last night: the people were mostly M. E. members. Bro. Miller gave them the straight Word in the name of Jesus, by the power of God in his soul.

This after-noon we met again at the same place. It stirred the sect spirit in them, for he declared the straight Word: and that shut up all places so we could not have a house to hold meetings in.

I do praise God to know there are a few who dare tell the whole truth, and I praise God for sending the dear brother to this place. It was food to my soul to hear the straight Word of God preached.

Pray for me; many times I am persecuted, but praise the Lord! His grace is sufficient to keep me. The power that saves me can keep me. Praise the Lord for His saving power!

Your sister in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — May God bless you all and keep you abounding in the work of the Lord — doing His will. My testimony is, I am all the Lord’s, all on the altar, out on the promise, and under the blood. I am doing the will of God, and I wish to say that I have taken Jesus for my physician, and He heals all of my diseases. I suffered about five months with bodily affliction, but I have been healed ever since the sixth of last October. Praise the Lord for all that He does for me and my family.

I want to say to all the readers of the TRUMPET that I was raised a Catholic. I was one of the strictest of that sect. I thought every one that did not believe in the Catholic church would go to hell. I thank God that He saved me from the old craft. There are many poor Catholics deluded with the idea that the Catholic church is the first Church; but I want to tell them, that it is not the first Church, but it is the first sect, which was started about 300 years after Christ established His Church. I know by the Bible that they are all wrong, and are not of God. I know that her sins have reached unto Heaven, and I’m determined to reward her even as she has rewarded me, and double unto her doable, according to her works. In the cup which she hath filled, fill to her double. — Rev. 18:15, 16.

Persecution is strong, but the Lord is with us, praise His holy name! We are on the uncompromising line, filled with the Spirit. Hallelujah!

Dear Brethren: — I am saved, and sanctified through the blood of Jesus, and kept from all sin by the power of God. O I am so glad the Lord ever called me by His Spirit, and saved me. I am a free man in Christ Jesus. How unsearchable are His riches, and His ways past finding out. Truly they are past finding out to the carnal mind, but glory be to God, He has promised to males them known, unto us by His Spirit, for His Spirit searcheth all things, yea the deep things of God.

O glory to God! I am out on the mighty ocean of God’s love: every shore line is cut loose, and I am getting deeper and deeper into God’s love. My life is hid with Christ in God, and I live by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God. O the joy of foil salvation how it thrills my inmost soul.

My prayer is that God may speed the day when holiness shall sweep the earth. I have unfurled the banner of holiness, and will hold it up while life shall last.

Although despised by this world, glory be to God! my reward is great in heaven. Hallelujah to God forever and ever!

I praise God that He has saved me from the use of tobacco, and has taken the appetite from me. O praise God for salvation full and free! My soul is full of the glory of God. Dear Brethren: — This morning finds me well, saved and sanctified by the blood of the Lamb. O how sweet it is to know and feel that you are the Lord’s and His alone.

Well dear ones I am at home on a visit in this dark place, and also to work for the Master. The people here don’t seem to understand the plan of salvation as the Bible teaches it. They think they must be a member of some sect in order to be a christian. O it is awful to see them go through the form of worship without the least aid of the Holy Spirit. I find the sects are as dead in this place and more so than in the United States. They are twice dead and plucked up by the roots. I will try and get the GOSPEL TRUMPET in this place before I leave. The papers you sent me came, and I was glad to get them. Thank God for the straight radical antisectarian doctrine of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Your Bro. in the love of Christ.

ASSERTIONS, QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS.

—:o:—

BELOW will be found assertions made, and questions asked by a babylonian priest of the Wesleyan Methodist sect, to which we wish to reply, God’s grace assisting us.

“The Church of Christ has been organized 1800 years and there have been different branches of the Church; and now away down the course of time, after the lapse of ages, for persons to spring up and say that the churches are harlots is blasphemy of the worst sort. It is virtually saving that God is the author of harlots, and that whatever harlots do, God sanctions: for you know that God is for the churches; then asks, was God with Bro. — and I when we were in holding meetings or was the devil with us?” Has the devil been the prime agent in all the great revivals of the last 150 years? Was the devil with Luther and his co-laborers in the great reformation? Was the devil with the Wesleys, Asbury and Whitefield, the founders of the M. E. C.? Was the devil or God with the churches in the revivals which followed the labors of these great men; revivals which shook the whole American Continent? If we take the ground that church organizations are not bible, then of course they cannot be of divine appointment; and how then shall we account for success? You will not say the “saints” were instrumental in them, for you know the Wesleys were Methodists. You know too that further down the chart of time C. G. Finney was used as an instrument of great revivals; he was a Presbyterian, not a “saint.” Moody and Sankey are Congregationalists. Harrison is a Methodist. And all the great revivalists of Europe and America are members of churches. Who are the spiritual pioneers of this nation; the “Saints?” no. Who are the Methodists, Presbyterians, Congregationalists, Baptists, U. B’s &c? Who laid the spiritual foundation stone of this nation; the saints? no. Who built the Church edifices of this country; the saints? no. How shall we do without organization, send the Gospel to the heathen by whom? How are our bible houses run from which millions of copies are sent every year but by churches? How would you succeed in your family without organization? How would you do on your farm without order? How would a government succeed only by being organized? How would an army of 100,000 men look going to battle without being organized? How would you succeed in your school district unless you were organized, could you buy books and compel the district to use them unless you, as a body had been organized and known in law? So no church can effect anything without organization, and must be known in law, in order to hold property. Suppose the “saints” were to be disturbed in their meetings by ruffs, how could they sustain a suit in court? if you say they would be known in court as saints, then you virtually say they are another denomination, and must come under the ban under which they place other churches. Or, suppose they build a church: to whom will the property be deeded? Oh! to the “saints!” then they are only another church organization; for they must be known as a corporate name in law, in order to hold property.

Answers.

True, the Church of Christ was organized over 1800 years ago. True, there have been branches of that Church, but remember they, were individuals, and of the fruit bearing kind too. No where do we read in the Word that religious denominations are churches or even branches.

I know no one that claims, or teaches that the Churches are harlots, but I do know one Wesleyan. Methodist preacher that acknowledged to me that the babylon spoken of in the 5th ver. of the 17th chap. of Rev. represented the first human church organization, and was the Roman Catholic sect, also that the different religious sects of the world to-day came forth from her, either directly or indirectly. Now I ask; if that be so, who are the daughters of the old harlot, and what shall we call them? Certainly it would be blasphemy to call God’s Church a harlot; but it would not be blasphemous to read the 13th chapter of Rev. You will find it to be a wonderful looking-glass for you, in which to behold yourself just as you are, if you do not turn away and forget what kind of a beast you are.

The fact that God is with and honors the labors of certain persons, is no evidence that the result of their success must be attributed to human organization, but should be attributed where it belongs, that is, to God that is in the person or persons used. No sir, the devil has not been the prime agent in the last 150 years for good. No sir, the devil was not in all those good men you speak of, but he got a wonderful foot-hold in the organizations which succeed them. You ask, was it God or the devil with the churches in the revivals that followed the labors of these great men? I answer by asking another; was it the “churches” as you call them or the holy men in them that God worked through? If this American Continent was shaken by the Wesleys, what had the Methodist church to do with it, which was not in existance at that time? We do not take the ground that Church organization is not of the Bible, but that it is Bible and of Divine appointment. How careful you seem to be to confine your assertions to churches. Why not come square out and say denominationalism or sectism; why not use terms to express just what you mean? is it because you know that the Word of God is plain on Holy Ghost Church organization, but silent on any other? You ask how then shall we account for success? You claim that the saints were not instrumental in their success; by your own assertions the Wesleys, Asbury, Whitefield, Moody &c. were not saints but Methodists, Congregationalists &c. You poor blind babylonian, attributing the work of soul saving to human sectarian machinery. You say C. G. Finney was not a saint; then you admit that God works through devils, for surely Finney must have been either one or the oilier. Well this certainly is confusion. We admit that we are confused; for, let us see; Finney was used of God as an instrument in the salvation of many souls; Finney was a Presbyterian; Finney was not a saint. Finney was a devil — enough to confuse any body! I see by your assertions, that God works by means of divine appointment for the salvation of souls, true. I see also by a letter written by one of your brethren in the ministry, that he claims that God works by any means; this was called out from the fact that God had honored our (Saints) labors in the salvation of many souls; he also stated in his letter that wherever we went we left matters in a worse condition than when we went there; if he means by that, that we leave the Wesleyan sect in a worse condition, we will take no exceptions. Praise the Lord! what saith the Scriptures. “And I will send unto babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.” — Jer. 51:2. In answer to the questions, “who are the spiritual pioneers? the saints? no. Who are the Methodists, Pres., Cong., Baptists, U. B’s &c? Who laid the spiritual foundation stone of this nation? the saints? no. Who built the church edifices? the saints? no.” I say in answer to these questions, it only takes one word to answer them; Sinners! for, according to your own statements, saints had no hand in it; and I know of only the two great classes of humanity, saints and sinners.

“How shall we do without organization?” We cannot do without it under the present condition of the world; we do not deny the fact that human organization is necessary in secular affairs. Let the people organize, in order to conduct the affairs of life that are necessary for the benefit of mankind; but let God organize His own body. Christ is the body, the Church. — Eph. 1:22, 23. It is a mistake to think that God’s people are not organized simply because they do not belong to some sect organization; they are organized by the Holy Ghost. God sets the members in the body as pleaseth Him, that is, in the Church. Men set the members in their bodies, or organizations as pleaseth them.

You ask, “Suppose the saints were to be disturbed &c.” I ask suppose the Wesleyan Methodists were to be disturbed in their worship; both you and we would be known in law, simply as a congregation of worshipers, not as saints or Methodists. If you post yourself in law you will find it is not necessary to be known as an organized body in order to be protected by law. You claim that we must be known in law as a corporate body in order to hold Church property. We do hold Church property, such as tabernacles to worship in, printing Office, press, engine and building; have deeds for them too.

The trustees of the M. E. sect hold deeds for Methodist Episcopal property. God has trustees (Elders and Deacons) in His

Church too. Wesleyan ministers, look after your own, that’s all right. Write your letters advising your members to beware of us, calling them together in order to effect a more perfect organization against us, run to consult one another, for the Scripture must needs be fulfilled, as thus saith the Lord. One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to show the king of babylon that his city was taken at one end, and that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war (babylonians) are affrighted. Again we say, Wesleyan Methodists and all other ists and isms look after your own interests. God looks after His own organization, His Church, against which the gates of hell shall not prevail. Amen! What next!

Dear Brethren: In my youth I felt that I was a sinner in the sight of God, and I had a desire to be a Christian: so I called upon the Lord and found Him precious to my soul. Through a lack of good Spiritual food, I soon fell by the wayside: then after that I made several starts to serve the Lord, but the enemy soon overpowered me. Two years ago this winter, the Lord so wonderfully convicted me of my sins that I had no rest day nor night, until I cried to God to have mercy on me. Praise our God forever and ever! He took me into His fold again, and filled my soul with joy and praise. Then the enemy tried hard to overthrow my soul again, but I put my whole trust in God and His grace was ever sufficient for me. On the 13th of March 1886 I made an entire consecration, and the blessed Lord sanctified me by a second work of grace. To-day I can sing “I am free, the Lord hath saved me.” For the last ten years before I was saved, I had suffered terribly with bodily affliction. I used many dollars worth of medicine, but to no effect. Since I am saved I have learned to take Jesus for my physician; He has completely healed me, and to-day I am every whit whole. Praise our God for His power to heal. Glory be to God! Hallelujah!

Your sister fully saved in Christ Jesus.

Dear Brethren: — One year ago the 27 th day of December God forgave all my sins, and the evening of the same day I wae sanctified, and shortly after joined the F. M. sect. I thought that was the only church I could feel at home in. I was like a great many others; I thought I must have my name on a church book or I could not keep my salvation. But I thank God He opened my eyes, and I had my name taken off of their sect book. I gave my reasons for doing so publicly. The F. M. preachers said it was all the works of the devil; said I was sure to backslide, but God’s Word said to me, “Come out from among them, and be not partakers of their sins.” I greatly desire to see the true Church of God established here. I am willing to spend money, time, and talent and all for the raising up of a people for God in this place. O pray for the people here in this dark place.

Dear Brethren: — My testimony is, I am saved, sanctified and kept by the power of God. Praise God for a present salvation! O glory to Jesus for the sweet peace I feel in my soul this morning. I can truly say

“I am reigning, sweetly reigning,
Far above this world of strife,
In my blessed loving Savior,
I am reigning in this life.”

O glory to our King! Babylon’s walls are trembling. Praise God for victory over death, sin, and the devil! Amen!

Dear Brethren: — Although a stranger in the flesh, glory be to God! not a stranger in the Spirit. The Lord led me to one of the meetings held here by Bro. Palmer, and there I saw the light, and received sanctification. Praise God’s holy name! Since then I have been led into marvelous light. Bless God! I belonged to the U. B. sect, but now, I am grounded on the Solid Rock, Christ Jesus. I am cleansed from all sin, and kept by God’s power. Glory to Jesus! O how my heart is made to rejoice to see souls step out of darkness into the sunlight of righteousness, sanctified, and kept under the blood. Glory to Jesus! I will praise the Lord forever.

Your Bro. saved and sanctified, and kept by the mighty power of God. Now dear brothers and sisters remember me in your prayers; for the prayers of the righteous availeth much.

Dear Brethren: — Glory to God! He has saved and sanctified us, and we are kept by the power of God. We are saved from babylon, and are in Jerusalem. O praise God for a full and free salvation! Our names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. The Lord is our great Physician, our prophet, priest and King, who did for us salvation bring.

May God bless all the dear saints with all Spiritual blessings is our prayer. Amen!

Pray for us. Your Bro. and Sister in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — I am gloriously saved. The Lord has delivered me from the habit and appetite of tobacco, which was the cause of me backsliding for about a year. But now

“I am so wondrously saved from sin,
Jesus so sweetly abides within:
Saves me each moment and keeps me clean
Glory to His name!”

I was raised in the Episcopal sect, but now I have quit saying prayers, such as “have mercy on us miserable sinners,” and I am praising the Lord that the blood of Jesus cleanseth me from all sin, and I am kept by the mighty power of God every moment. Yours in the Lord.

Dear Brethren: — I am saved to the uttermost, and sanctified wholly. I used tobacco for 30 years, yet for ten years I was convinced that it was wrong; but the Lord has delivered me from it. We are having glorious meetings here since Bro. Fisher was here, and souls are being saved almost every meeting. Your sister complete in the body of Christ.

Dear Brethren: — I praise God for salvation that I can feel. I thank the Lord that I am free from all sin, and walking in the light of our Savior. Glory to Jesus forever and ever! I once belonged to the Lutheran sect, but now I am free; I belong to the Church of the First-born, whose names are written in Heaven. Hallelujah! I thank God for sending Bro. Grover here to preach the true Gospel to us, and show us the light as it is in Christ. Praise God! I am saved and sanctified. Pray for me that I may stand firm. Dear Brethren: — I am saved and sanctified, and basking in the golden sunlight of God, doing His will. I am giving Him all the praise, honor and glory for He gives me such wonderful joy and peace in my soul. Praise His name forever and ever! We see no man save Jesus only. Dear Brethren: — To-day finds me saved and sanctified by the precious blood of Jesus who died for me. Praise the Lord! “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.” Glory to God! I do praise God for His saving and keeping power. I am saved from all sects, Praise God! saved from every thing but Jesus and His precious Word that leads to glory. My prayer is that God will bless all the dear ones that are out in the field at work. Pray for us that we may stand firm and bold for the Lord.

Dear Brethren: — I wish to tell you that Jesus saves me just now. I am saved from the Catholic sect. Praise the Lord! I am free from sin. Praise the Lord forevermore! I can pray now without a book. Thank the Lord! Pray for me.

Praise God! I am saved just now. I am cleansed from all sin. It is now near four years since I gave my heart to God. I lived about one year in a justified state, then some of God’s little ones, who take nothing but His Word for their guide, showed me that He had a great deal more for me. I was a sect Sabbath school teacher, but as I walked in the light of God, they became disgusted with me and at last they brought false witnesses against me, and cast me out.

Last Oct. Dear Bro. Warner and his little band came to my house to hold meetings. He gave us the straight truth which sat many other souls free. We are now full of holy fire, and God keeps us all the time. Pray for us.

Dear Brethren: — We are saved this morning by the power of God, and we give Him all the glory. Bro. R. P. Gooding and a few others of Father’s children just closed a weeks meeting held at Brother Sparling’s house. Although the weather was bad, there was a good number come to hear the truth. Sister Lizzie Garmire who has belonged to the M. E. sect for seven years without salvation, accepted Christ, and was made to rejoice in the Savior’s love. Her leaving the sect makes quite a stir among the dry bones in babylon. Others received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and are rejoicing in a complete salvation. I pray the blessing of God to rest upon them. Yours in Christ.

Dear Trumpet: — I have long felt led to tell of God’s wonderful goodness and mercy to me, I backslid out of the F. M. sect, but thank God! when I gave myself all up to Him, nothing doubting, He was faithful and just to forgive me all my sins and made me to rejoice in a Savior’s love. Oh how I do praise God to-night for His wonderful mercy to me! He saves and sanctifies me just now, bless His name forever and ever! I am also saved from sectism. I belong, soul and body, to the true Church. Husband and I have to stand alone in this place, but blessed be our God! He is with us, He wonderfully pours out His Spirit on us. O praise His great and holy name! This evening finds me

“Resting, sweetly resting
In the cleft once made for me,
Jesus blessed, Rock of ages,
I still hide myself in Thee.”

Dear Saints of God: — It fills my heart to tell of the work here in this wicked city. It has caught on fire for God, and oh! how it is flaming. The material in the synagogues are running out, leaving the old rotten structures. Glory to God! the more they try to put out the fire the more it spreads. Oh praise the Lord for holy fire! Every time you strike, it catches in a new place. The Baptist priest said in the pulpit that he wished every sanctified person was in hell. Well praise the Lord! that one stroke brought two souls out of babylon.

I desire the prayers of all the saints, as I am a young man just started out for Heaven, sanctified and in the order of the Lord with victory in my soul.

Dear Brethren: — My testimony is, I am saved, sanctified and kept by the power of God, ready to be revealed. Nearly two years ago the Lord convicted me of my sins, I yielded and God for Christ’s sake forgave all my sins. I then presented my body a living sacrifice, and received the Holy Ghost, the sanctifier. I do praise God for salvation that Saves to the uttermost, and for victory over the world, the flesh and the devil, and over the beast and his power. I possess the land of Canaan. Hallelujah! Glory to Jesus! He is flooding this earthen temple just now.

Your sister under the blood.
