OUR VISIT TO NIAGARA FALLS.

—:o:—

WE shall ever have reason to thank our heavenly Father for the ex..ed privilege of viewing His great and ..ible works at this famous place. Thurs..y, Feb. 14, was the day set to go and ..w these magnificent works of nature’s …. Bless His holy name for a bright and ..utiful day! The wind, being from the ..st, favored our drive of twelve miles ..m Crowland, and blowed the mists of … falls over on the other side, leaving ..s side all pleasant and sunshine.

We stopped near the falls at the house … Mr. and Mrs Michaels, who were cous..ns of dear Bro. and sister Skinner who ..k us to this wonderful place. God bless ..em and their kind friends who so cour..ously entertained us. After dinner we ..ove down to the surprising stream. ..ere we left the slot and stood upon the ..iff that rises mostly perpendicular from … 50 to 200 feet above the waters of the ..iver. We passed up the stream along a … one wall that stands on the brink of the ..iff, to the beginning of the great horse..oe falls on the Canada side. Here we ..oked with mingled awe and devotion up.. the great fall of green waters over a ..ecipice 15 feet high, extending around ..curve estimated at 2376 feet long. The ..espending sheet of water is supposed to ..e at some places as much as 20 feet thick. What an enormous power! This winter … rock of great dimensions broke away in ..is horse-shoe curve and fell to the bot..om, the jar of which was so great that it ..racked the plastering of a building over … quarter of a mile away. It woke the ..eople up like the noise of an earth-quake.

Our eyes were delighted with the beau..l rainbow caused by the sunshine upon … be spray of the Falls. Our hearts were continually overflowing with praises and ..titude to God for the wonderful works of His hands. The afternoon was all devoted to visiting things of interest on the Canada side. That evening we drove live miles up the river to Chippawa where we bad a precious little meeting in the house of Bro. and sister McCclive. One woman consecrated for entire sanctification and claimed the victory. A few souls in this place meet to worship God in holiness and freedom.

Friday, Feb. 15. To-day we are to go over on the American side. The “Lord, who is always good to Israel, even to those who are of a clean heart.” turned the wind last night in the opposite direction. So the cold damp air came sweeping over on the Canada side. But we praised the Lord, knowing that it would be all bright and pleasant on the other side. We crossed over the river on the great Suspension bridge about 2 1/4 miles below the Falls. This bridge, as it now stands, cost $600,000. It is suspended on four wire cables that are ten inches in diameter. The distance between the towers upon which the bridge hangs is 825 feet. On the top of this bridge the Grand Trunk and Erie trains cross, 258 feet above the water. Some 20 feet beneath the R. R. is the wagon road. When we returned a train was moving slowly along over our heads. A few rods above this bridge, or to the South, is the famous Cantilever bridge over which the double trace of the Michigan Central R. R. passes. This structure is on a new principal never before used. It is 910 feet long. The length of the clear span over the river is 500 feet. It is 245 feet high. It is all steel. When completed it was tested by 16 large engines and heavily loaded freight cars enough to till both tracks from end to end, which was but a small part of its capacity. Two miles South of here, and not far below the falls, was built a lighter but very beautiful bridge; said to be the longest Suspension bridge in the world. The span between towers 1,268 feet, height above the water 190 feet. This bridge, all but the cables, was blown down by a storm this winter. At this point, and up to the American Falls, the water is about 200 feet deep. Near Horse-shoe Falls no bottom has been reached.

We now pass through the beautiful park on the American side, where the view of the Falls is still more grand. On the brink of the great chasm is a low stone wall, following which we come to the very edge of the awful rush of water just, where it gracefully bends over its high rocky promontory and is lost in the cloud of hissing spray beneath. These, the American Falls, are one quarter of a mile long, divided into three great channels by small islands. The Fall on this side of the river is 164 feet. Here the awful flood dropped down close to our feet. How awful to contemplate this current of destruction, rushing so near our feet But “God hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.” — Job 26:10. So we were safe so long as we kept out of its proscribed bounds. This is a beautiful point of observation. Here we feasted our eyes, and poured out our adoration to God with enraptured souls, to the astonishment of worldy spectators, whose cold hearts were not moved as ours were. From this park an inclined railway, operated by water power, leads down to the water’s brink. Also 290 steps, down which we went. Here we landed near the foot of the great Fall, from which standpoint their magnitude greatly enlarged in our eyes. Men standing at the top looked like boys. “And we also were in their eyes as grasshoppers.” In severe winters the ice carried over the Falls shows up above the surface of the water, upon which the falling spray freezes, and cements it altogether, and glazes it over. Frequently this ice formation fills up the great chasm and forms an ice bridge over the river, as it is written:

He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap, he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him — Psa. 33:7, 8.

This winter having been mild, the ice- mountain in front of the American Falls is comparatively small, extending gradually up from our landing place to a point near the fall of water. We all proceeded up this ice hill towards the roaring cataract. But coining to a more steep ascent, all stopped but Bro. McClive and ourself. The mighty pouring down of the waters seemed to send a thrill of glory through our soul, and we longed to approach, and by a very vigorous effort we managed to reach the summit. Here we crouched upon our knees, partly for safety, and also because of our feelings of adoration to God. The thundering avalanche of water seemed to us the very power and roaring of the Almighty. O what awful feelings of the majestic power of God pervaded our soul. That enormous sheet of water seemed to our soul the very outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my Spirit upon thy sea, and my blessing upon thine offspring. — Isa. 44:8.

Never in all our life did we have such an exalted conception of the fearful, and awful might of Jehovah. The irresistable force of that stupendous fall, seemed also to rivit itself upon our mind as representing the allsweeping power of the Gospel of God when poured on the people by the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven. For “the words of a man’s mouth (when filled with the Spirit) are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook. — Prov. 18:4.

Thanks be to God for the benefit to our soul of beholding this great outpouring from the hand of God.

As we turned about we began to see that we were by no means in a safe position. Our descent exposed us to the danger of getting under headway, and sliding into the depth of the river. But we called on the Lord in our hearts, “Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me — Psa. 69:15, and sitting down, we cautiously worked our way down by forcing slight indentures into the icy crust, formed by the falling spray, with the heels of our over-shoes. Bless the name of the Lord! He brought us back in safety. “Surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.” — Psa. 32:6, 7.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. — Psa. 46:1, 2, 3.

For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. — Psa. 93:4.

O praise God for His great love, and His kind care unto us.

Returning to the foot of the inclined railway, we found Bro. Barney and sisters Frankie & Nannie strapping on their shoes rough shod irons, a much needed preparation, which a man furnished visitors, of which we were not before aware. So they also went up the ice hill and stood near the great fall.

Returning to our sled we drove over a succession of bridges, with the waters rushing wildly beneath, as if impatient to take the great leap below. We now reached Goat Island, a high and heavily timbered area of 62 acres, which divides the two great Falls. From the Northwest corner of this Island we stand upon a platform nearly 200 feet about perpendicular above the water below. Here we had the most magnificent view of the wonderful works of God our eyes had ever beheld. The Rapids from the east rushing tumultuously toward us, the majestic river rolling beneath us, in many places the perpendicular bank was fringed and tasseled with icicles from 20 to 50 feet long. To the South the mighty Horse-shoe Falls come plunging down. To the North stretch out the American Fails from beneath our feet. Here “deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts.” — Psa. 42:7. The following words were suited to our adoring hearts. Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is lull of majesty, — Psa. 29:1-4.

The two o’clock sun was pouring its brilliant rays against the beautiful sheet of the American Falls that lay in the graceful curve to the North. No language or painter’s skill can portray the beauty of this magnificent lace curtain of waters flowing from the high rock into the boiling caldron of spray below. The bright green water which, sparkling in the sunbeams, assumes a thousand glittering hues. Here we stood a few moments spell-hound and delighted at the scene. Think of a living, moving tapestry many rods long, 164 feet high, all sparkling as glass, gold, silver and fire. O that scene of gorgeous beauty never shall be forgotten!

And now we attempt to speak of other scenes of indescribable glory. The trees, and every object on Prospect park, where we went down the long steps on Lima Island, and a part of Goat Island, are, by the falling spray, transformed into a crystal paradise of the most charming beauty. Even as we write these words the scene repasses before our eyes, and our soul is overwhelmed in rapture and adoration to God. The frosty vapors spouting up from the thundering cataract freeze upon every object they touch, and clothe it with the perfect grandeur of pure dazzling white. Every twig is covered, every trunk and bough is coated. The trees bend gracefully under its weight as if in silent, homage to the Creator. Every rail is edged with it, every point and pinnacle of earth, stone and timber has doned the white robe. Buildings are roofed in holy white, and the cornice moulding exceeds in beauty all the skill of man to imitate. There was beauty enough on ten feet of stone wall to enrapture the soul of a holy man or woman of God for hours, and here we are surrounded, underfoot and overhead, wherever the eye turned, with this indescribable glory. What could we do but shout. Oh! Oh.!! BEAUTIFUL! BEAUTIFUL!! WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL!! Glory be to God in the highest! On Luna Island, weich divides two parts of the American Falls, extending to the cliff, the frosty mists seem to have lavished their most exquisite and extensive works. Here the rolls of beautifully formed milky white, enlarged on small boughs as much as to 6 or 8 inches thick, varying from that to the neatly coated sprigs which resembled a coral grove. Pine shrubbery of three or four feet high were so laden from the ground up, that we could walk over their tops. They sometimes resembled a crystal palace with many windows. Some trees had a perfect roof surrounded with mouldings, and icicle lace-work, which gave the whole an appearance of wondrous beauty. Some spruce trees were laden with sweet balls of white, as thick as they could well hang, which contrasted with the dark green foliage, and made the whole appear like a large tree covered with white roses. In the midst of this dazzling white paradise, all radiant with the bright sunshine, the brilliant rainbow towering on high, ourselves spiritually robed in white, and our hearts whiter than snow, and all aglow with love and devotion to the great God of nature and redemption, it requires the addition of but little imagination to think ourselves in the midst of heaven itself.

One of the little ones said, “O I wish all the clear saints on earth could be here to ‘behold the beauty of the Lord’ in the works of His hand.” Sister Frankie thought that God was looking down upon us with pleasure, to see how greatly we enjoyed the grandeur of His works; “for He looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven” — Job 28:24 — and maketh “the earth to shine with His glory” — Eze 43:2.

Passing around the large Island to the Southeast side, we passed over the rushing wafers on two successive foot bridges that connected three small Islands to the large one. Here we got a magnificent view of the raging rapids above the Falls, which is a sight itself. The river here widens to about two miles, and falling at the rate of 60 feet per mile, rushes ever the rocks in a wild and terrific manner. The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled. — Psa. 77:16.

Other wonders we must leave unmentioned. One sad thing to contemplate is the many lives that have been lost by accident about these awful waters, and the many unhappy lives that have been self- ended by suicide. For this latter purpose men and women come here for hundreds of miles, and many, it is believed, take the fatal suicide frenzy while looking on the angry rushing elements that seem to cast a fatal charm over the mind, and then swallow up their victim. “Inside of live years several men have committed suicide by jumping from the new Suspension bridge.” A writer says: “Many state that while looking into the chasm, an almost irresistable impulse besets them to leap into the fearful flood. We cannot explain this, and why such a feeling should possess the mind is beyond our comprehension.”

To us the singular fact is no mystery. We open the Bible and read that the devil is “a murderer from the beginning,” and again, that men are led captive by the devil at his will. This solves the problem. When men are subject to the devil he murders them every time, one way or another, and drowns their soul in perdition. But the God of salvation giveth life unto His children. Therefore will we serve Him forever, and let heaven and earth ascribe glory and honor unto Him. “Let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein. Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills be joyful together before the Lord: for He cometh to judge the earth. Amen!

ARE YOU CONSECRATED?

_____

MAY God bless every soul, and help them to answer this question before God in the light of eternity, by the holy Word of God. Are you consecrated? If you can answer this question in the affirmative, then surely you can say of a truth you are sanctified wholly. Many say they are sanctified who do not understand what real consecration means, or what it really is. Many of the holiness teachers teach such a very shallow consecration that those who profess sanctification under their teaching never get the idea of real consecration, consequently never get much, if any, experience of holiness. They go on about the same as they did, only they profess holiness; their lives are about the same, their works about the same. May God help us to learn, and learn it well, that faith without works is dead. Glory to God! We must show our faith by our works. Good works must accompany faith or it is a dead faith, being alone: for the body without spirit is dead. Lord help us to see these things.

Many people testify to sanctification who never give any thing to help spread holiness; these very same people when they were sectarians gave from five to three hundred dollars to help support the sect and the preacher. Since they left the sect and now profess holiness, they give nothing to support, the cause of God; consequently they are not consecrated, never giving any thing, much less giving up every thing. God help such poor deluded souls to see where they stand. They make quite a noise about how free they are, and O how they testify to the love of God; they know they love God with all their hearts: but they never do anything to prove their love. If we love God we will keep His commandments. Some, before they claimed holiness, spent fifteen dollars or more a year for coffee and tea; twenty dollars or more for tobacco, and twenty-five to fifty dollars for worldly conformity, and other things to the satisfying of the world, the flesh and the devil, now they are saved from all these things, yes, and O how glad we are; but why are you glad? Are you glad God has saved you from this needless expenditure of money so you may give the same to help spread holiness, or why are you glad? God help us to look at these things just as they are. These words burn in some heart who is guilty of robbing God. This, dear ones, is robbing God. O shame! will a man rob God? yes, and even profess holiness. Now dear ones, facts are facts and we must meet these things in the great day. When some of God’s holy ministers come along who scarcely had decent and comfortable clothes to keep them warm. O you felt so sorry for them; but you had no money for them, and never would think of going to the store and buying the necessary comforts of life or the minister; and with a very long face say: God bless you my dear Bro. But it would make no difference how much you were in need of money, you would have your tobacco, coffee and tea, yes, spend twenty-five to fifty dollars for these useless things, and give nothing to support the cause of God. Yes not even able to take the GOSPEL TRUMPET for six months, which would be fifty cents, and would give you much light on the Scriptures. If you spend ten dollars a year for the devil, O for Jesus’ sake give that much or more to God. Many to-day profess holiness who are worth several thousand dollars, who give but very little, perhaps secretly slip fifty cents or one dollar in your hand when they bid you good-by. O shame on such stingy covetousness! Yes, there are just such characters. God help us to understand what consecration means. Consecration means a complete giving up of every thing to the service of God. Are you there, completely given up? Read the first second and fourth chapters of Acts, you will see what real consecration means. They sold all they had, and laid it at the Apostles feet: they gave it up as much so, as if they never possessed. Many are trying to come in like Ananias and his wife, they are keeping back part of the price, and that is the largest part. Give up every thing: lay all on the altar, and the altar sanctifieth the gift. But remember it must touch the altar, and whatsoever toucheth is made holy. Many to-day have plenty of money in the bank, having plenty of everything around them to make them comfortable, yet they talk a great deal about hard times. They see necessity and great need of money to carry on the work of publishing salvation, and how had we need tracts on the subject of the Church and other points of doctrine. Now if these brethren give five or ten dollars, they think they are doing most wonderful; and think they are very liberal. For Jesus’ sake let us come down to real Bible consecration; quit playing holiness and come down to the real thing. O for real experimental practical holiness! Hallelujah to our God!

Now dear ones, God has been laying this on me for some time that I must write on this subject of holiness; more so when I came to Ill. and saw some of the evangelists in great need. The clothes of one Bro. was so ragged and had, I gave him the best I had, and praised God for the privilege of doing so. This same Bro. has been working for the salvation of souls all winter, and several have seen him in need and could have helped him; but they must buy their coffee and other unnecessary things. What are you going to do with all of your possessions and money? You hang on to it while you are here in this world, then it falls to your children and some of them are ungodly; then you will quote this: “he that will not provide for his own has denied the faith and is worse than an infidel.” God positively forbids you laying up treasures on the earth. The Word is: Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. — Eph. 4:28. Jno. 8:17; 1 Cor. 16:1-3; 2 Cor. 10:12-15; 11:5-7. Now these Scriptures are very plain on this point. Let all the holy teachers come down to teaching a more thorough consecration.

What I have written is in the fear of God, with a heart full of love, consecrated completely, sanctified wholly. Hallelujah!

J. P. Haner.

WHAT CHURCH SHOULD I JOIN?

Is a small tract of sixteen pages, containing an address to young converts, setting forth Christ as the door, also the body of the church, and to no other should a person be joined. It is copied from a tract published in the city of London, by an evangelist in England, and gives much light on the subject of the church. Sometime ago we published a few hundred of these tracts and there being such a great demand we have published several thousand more, which we furnish at just about enough to cover the cost of publication.

REQUEST FOR PRAYER.

—:@:—

LET all the dear saints in all parts of the world who read this request, get on their knees and pray for the healing of my dear companion. We believe she has the quick consumption; but I know God is able to heal her. She was taken very sick, and we complied with the Word in James, and she got better, and is still better than at first; but is in a very bad condition yet. We are trusting her in the hands of our Great Physician who never lost a case. We are in the hands of God, live or die.

We’ll trust Him while we live,
We’ll trust Him when we die;
And then when all our work is done,
Well reign with Him on high.

Much love to all the saints. Pray for us that we may be more useful.

Your Bro. saued in Christ.

JESUS IS CALLING YET.

—:o:—

JESUS says: “Behold now is the day of salvation, behold, now is the accepted time.” He is still knocking at the door of your hearts. Will you turn such a dear friend away? Though you may have spent your life in sin and wickedness and your future seems as dark as the blackness of night, yet Jesus can save you, and will do so if you will only give yourself to Him and do His will. He will forgive all your sins, and purify your heart and fill your soul with the love of God, making you a shining light before the world. This blessing is for all; whosoever will may come. Some say they would be christians if they knew they could stand. Jesus says: “My grace is sufficient.” “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” Then why hesitate any longer when you have such promises and be will not allow us to be tempted above that which we are able to bear. And will always provide a way of escape and deliver us from the snare of the enemy.

Christ will accept you whenever you yield to his will and accept his promises, whether you are at home or abroad; at work or at leisure. God can save a soul anywhere. Many feel deeply convicted of their sins, and the spirit of the Lord striving with them, and think they must wait until they can go to some meeting to give themseleves up to the Lord, and when the time comes they will not yield. Many are called into eternity before the expected time rolls round and must reap their reward in hell. Your time for getting salvation may be at some future day; God’s time is now.

NEWS FROM THE FIELD.

—:o:—

Welland Ont,. March 6.

WE are now about to leave the Queen’s Dominion. Two weeks ago we were expecting to start to Ohio. But while we were being detained to hear from there, the Lord opened a door for us in this town. The fire had burned from Crowland to here. So a Disciple minister was constrained of the Lord to open their large meeting house for us, and make us welcome. His congregations had been very small, and he had prayed God to fill the large audience room. And he acknowledged the answer of his prayer during the Lord’s meetings. The building was filled every night, a few times crowded. The meetings continued eleven nights. A few more souls were saved; some both converted and sanctified. Many acknowledged the present awful truth, and there was no small stir in the place, and we are persuaded that the truth of God sown in hundreds of hearts here will bring forth fruit in the future. It is desired to have a camp meeting about here next summer. We have taken over 40 subscribers for the TRUMPET since we have been in the Dominion. Sixteen trumpets coming to Welland Ont. will work as a mighty leaven here. A few honest souls have renounced sectism, and others declare they must do so, or go into darkness, having heard the loud “voice from heaven, saying come out of her my people.” May God give them grace to “flee out of the midst of her, and deliver every one his soul.” Bro. John Peach is ordained of the Lord to take the oversight of the little flock in this place.

Tomorrow the Lord willing, we go to Pittsville., Venango Co. Pa. Let all the saints of God pray much for us, and the salvation of souls through our labors. O how our soul was made to leap for joy over the many glorious reports of victory in every direction in the last few TRUMPETS. O let the glorious consumption decree go forth, in the midst of all lands. Amen! and Amen!!

Dear Brethren: — We commenced a meeting Feb, tenth in Branch Co. Michigan, in the name of king Jesus — in the midst of awful prejudice and sect darkness; and the Lord gave us wonderful victory. The reformed Mennonite sect has been organized at that place, & sowed much hatred aganst the saints; insomuch that the people would not come to meeting to hear the word preached, at first, but we continued in the name of king Jesus; finally the people came and saw that the sect wine had only made them drunk, and the truth caused many of them to become sober; some said they had never heard the Bible preached till this meeting. Bless God! Some dear souls walked in the light and are enjoying salvation in their souls. Hallelujah! May God bless all his little ones and keep them all saved in Christ. My testimony is that I am saved, sanctified, and preserved in the Lord Jesus.

Cassopolis Mich, Feb. 25 1889.

Dear Trumpet Readers: — I am saved, satisfied and rejoicing in the evening light of purity. The Gospel Trumpet is sounding in Vandalia and round about, and bringing together his children into the one fold. Our God is searching for jewels even in this sin-benighted place; neither is his search in vain because recently there has been five or six united directly to God himself. Quite a number have separated from babylon and declare their freedom and position in the Church of Christ. One Bro. especially, who was a minister in the Baptist sect, because of him being contentious against the wickedness in that abominable sect, they obtained a majority in vote and cast him from their midst.

The poor Bro. not having light on the oneness of the saints in Christ, knew not what to do until the light flashed up on his soul, of the church of the Firstborn, wherein he is now rejoicing. He says: “Thank God! I have struck oil this time.” One of Babylon’s priests has become aroused and gives his idea of unity. He says it would be a good thing for all ministers to teach the people they can not live without committing sin, in order to have unity in the churches. Dear brethren I am awakened to a sense of duty, and by God’s grace assisting, shun not to declare his counsel.

We are living in a time when much labor is wanted to be performed for God in various ways. I expect to do with all my might what my hands find to do.

Sound on, thou Gospel Trumpet sound,
Till every man shall know
In Christ the living way is found
And heaven begins below.

Your Bro. in the labors of love for Jesus’ sake.

Dear Saints: — We first closed a three weeks meeeting in Vandalia, with precious and glorious victory on the Lord’s side every day and night. Praise God! when we first went to the Town we met much opposition and did all the way through. But we preached the plain, straight word of God, and aganst all the opposition, and power of satan and sectism; quite a number of dear souls stepped out of darkness, and were made perfectly free in Jesus. Became settled in the whole word of God. Many shouts ascended, because of freedom; and O how we did realize that the saints are returning to Zion, with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads. The Church wonderfully set in order, bless God forever. Eleven dear ones were baptised into his death. Renoucing the world, pomp and show.

Praise God! we had an ordinance meeting, and O how we did rejoice while washing the saints feet, and partaking of the bread and wine, representing the Lord’s body and all-cleansing blood. Pray for the beloved saints at that place, that they may never be entangled in the yoke of sectism again. Dear Bro. Haner and company were with us in a few meetings; we enjoyed hearing him preach the word of God. Wo praise God for a Bible experience to-day; hallelujah! we praise him for the cleansing blood that flows over our souls just now. Glory to Jesus! we are built in the true church, free in Jesus. We are on our way to Shelby Co. where we will commence meeting near Kingman.

We all send love to all the dear ones pray for us

LATER

Kingman Ill. Mar. 5, 1889

For a few weeks past, we have been holding meeting in the saints meeting house near this place. After a few days of dreadful opposition, we had a glorious meeting.

We found no souls here that were real clear. We began to preach to them what constituted holiness in the Bible sense. And what God meant when he said, Be ye holy; and all that wanted light came out free. Hallelujah! and they shall return and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads; Isa. 35:10. Praise God! The saints realized the truth of this, and quite a number were converted, and a number sanctified wholly. Hallelujah! the entire meeting, was a victory on the Lord’s side all the way through. Glory to Jesus! on the last, day of the meeting we had the privilege of seeing eleven, dear ones buried with Christ in baptism.

Every one, had bright evidence of the Holy Ghost. Praise God! it was blessed to see some of them, shouting and praising God; they did not mind the cold water, hallelujah. Sabbath night we had a precious ordinance meeting, which was wonderfully blessed, and owned of God. And a precious season of rejoicing, while washing the saints feet, and partaking of the other ordinances of God’s house. Ninteen dear ones partook. We closed the meeting with glorious victory, leaving the saints ready and willing for work. O praise God! the Bible holiness, has come to this place to stay. Blessed be the name of God forever. Amen! The saints built a house, which is now dedicated to the Lord; and open for the people of God; we had a very precious dedication meeting. We send love to all; we are saved and kept all the time.

Your sister sanctified wholly. Hallelujah! Amen!

Dear Saints: — I will say to the glory of God that we are saved and filled with all the fulness of the Gospel of Christ, having a perfect salvation. Amen! The Lord is gloriously leading us. Praise His holy name! We left Walkerton, and came to Grover Town, about 9 miles south, and found that dear brother Leininger, Gast, and D. Bryant were holding meeting in a School-house 4 miles south of Grover Town. The Lord gave us all great victory in preaching the Word of Truth. The people listened attentively. May the Lord bless their dear souls for Jesus’ sake. Meeting was held only four nights, and the brethren went home. From there we came to Beaver Dam, where we enjoyed a feast of fat things over Lord’s day. Praise His holy name! We met dear Bro. Palmer and company at Akron Ind.; was with him three nights while he poured out the glorious truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. From there we came with dear Bro. Gast to Claysville, Washington Co., and commenced meeting on Saturday eve, the 16th of Feb. and held over the next Lord’s day. The prejudice against the children of God was very great, and the people took us to be a most terrible people. Three obtained salvation, and a great deal of prejudice was removed; the Church was much strengthened and edified. The Lord sent Bro’s Zent, Mickly and Freehafer, which added greatly to the work. The Lord wonderfully blessed Bro. Gast and ourself in putting forth the blessed Gospel of deliverance. Glory to God! From there we came to Roanoke, four of us in company, ourselves and Bro. & Sister Gast. We expect to hold here as long as the Lord leads. From here we expect to go to Garrett, DeKalb Co., Ind., if the Lord will.

Your Bro. and Sister, in the faith once delivered to the saints.

Dear Brethren: — We held meeting one week at Girty; 4 consecrated, two of which were clearly sanctified; the other two seemed to make a thorough consecration, yet, being so long in babylon, their mind seemed somewhat confused, but we trust the Lord will yet bring them into the clear light, also many others in that place. Much prejudice existed at the beginning of the meetings, but the second night the powers of darkness gave way, and some of the old pilgrims caught the fire and shouted the high praises of God as in days of yore. Every night the truth sank deeper and deeper into the hearts of the people. We closed the meeting against the wishes of the people on account of another meeting which previously had been announced in the same neigborhood. We returned to the Shellhammer neighborhood and held meeting one night; one sanctified. Then Bro. Holland brought us to Blanco where we held four days meeting, during which time Bro. Rollond’s wife was converted and sanctified, and three happy believers were buried with Christ by baptism. We receive many threats, even through the press they threatened tar and feathers; but we make our prayer to God: “And now Lord, behold their threatenings and grant unto thy servants that with all boldness they may speak thy Word.” — Acts 4:29. One paper reports the people in a state of fury. The Judge of the County Court advises that we hold our meetings privately. But God says: “Ye are the Light of the world, a city that is set on a hill” etc. The work of the Lord is spreading very fast in Armstrong Co. The work of salvation is opened up in 12 Counties in west Pa. In every direction the people are calling for holy ministers to help in the salvation of souls.

We are saved and praising God continually.

Dear Brethren — Our last report was from Fair Haven Ill., up to Feb. 23. We only continued till Sunday evening following. We feel that much good was done by way of sowing seed and breaking down prejudice, which was very strong against the truth. There was one soul saved on

Sunday, and quite a number under conviction. But the blind sectarians refused us the use of the school-house, which they themselves use for their meetings, so we felt that the Lord did not desire us to stay there longer at that time. But we do feel that God will open the way at some future time for a glorious work there. Having received a letter from Iowa urging us to come and anoint and lay hands on Sister Jane Abrams, who was very sick with typhoid malaria and rheumatism, we went in the name of the Lord arriving at their place on Wednesday evening. We found the sister some better, but unable to walk, not having been able to be dressed for about three weeks. We anointed her and laid on hands in the name of the Lord, and she immediately arose and walked about the room praising God. We had meeting that evening at their house with one back slider at the altar, who was afterwards delivered of the devil by the power of God, and then was blessedly saved. There was also present at this meeting an anti-ordinance anti-christ individual by the name of Martin, from Mo., of the “Royal Priest” type, who had to some extent sown the seed of discord among the few who are desiring to be straight for God. But as the power of God was manifested among us, he did not come any more. Hallelujah! While we were there, there were two souls saved. We had to come home on Monday (as we may have to move our family) where we found all well as usual. We were away from home nearly three months, and shall ever praise God for what our eyes have seen, and ears heard, and our heart felt. It has been indeed a glorious campaign in the work of soul-saving. As soon as we can arrange to settle our family down, we expect again to go out into the field for tearing down of all babylon confusion and the upbuilding of the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Pray for us.

Yours in the holy war, sanctified in the blood of Josus.

Dear Brethren: — We do praise God this morning for salvation that saves us and keeps us ready to do the Lord’s will. We are still waging war against the enemy in the name of our God; the harvest is ripe. We cannot fill all the places that are open for meetings here. Chanute, Kan.

We again report to the TRUMPET readers the effects of the truth preached in the West. The meetings held at Akron and Atlanta Kan. were of real success in the Lord to the salvation of poor souls. The Akron meeting commenced Jan. 12 and continued until Feb. 2. We bad much opposition in the early part of the meeting, but thank God, the truth soon suppressed it all. Bless the dear Lord! There were three pardoned from sin and ten sanctified in that meeting. Also two of them baptized at the close of the meeting. We had perfect order during the entire meeting, and when we closed, many who saw the truth plead with us to return in the near future. God bless their dear souls and make them free from everything not of Him.

From Akron we came to Atlanta where we commenced meeting, Feb. 5, in the name of Jesus. The Atlanta meeting was a most blessed least to all our souls in seeing poor sinners made free from all sin and sectism. There were about twenty-nine consecrations in all; some of the number were those who were not free among the saints. The meeting went off without any open opposition, also with real good attendance and good order. God bless the people of Atlanta and make many of that little town and surrounding country free from all sin and sectism.

The eve. of Feb. 27 we met at the house of dear Bro. and sister Martin where we had a most precious meeting, following the humility of Jesus in washing the saints feet and in breaking bread. Also two blessedly sanctified by the blood of Jesus. We are now at Chanute Kan. at work for Jesus Dear Bro. John and sister Alice Dillon of Brazil Ind. came to help us while we were at Akron, and are much helped of the Lord to do His will. Amen! Your brothers.

Beloved Friends: — We are still battling for the Lord. Bro. J. E. Williams from Mongo Ind. is here. He seems to obey the injunction, “First pure, then valiant for the truth.” The sects had done much to prejudice the people, so that few dared to come out; but we are gaining ground, and some are being saved. The tobacco idol is hold- some hack. Well brethren, let us give Jesus a clean place to dwell in. Amen!

Let us be patient. Reformers generally can do but little more than to sow the seed and seal it with their blood. The rising generation will be better prepared to receive it. Let us lay a good foundation.

Urbana Kan., Mar. 4 ’89

Dear Saints: — May God wonderfully bless you all, and His grace and peace be multiplied unto you abundantly through Jesus.

After the Austin meeting we went four miles south to Urbana; which has a very hard name, but I must say that despite all the threats that was formerly breathed against the holiness people, we were treated with very great respect by old and young. The teacher being an infidel had us to close after one week, just as interest was rising above the prejudice; but glory to God! it resulted in most of one family turning to God. They were very sectarian at first, but accepted the true way. The mother was sanctified and the others converted. Others acknowledged the truth. We do verily believe a good work would have been done; but praise God, all things work for good to them that love the Lord. It, no doubt, is a good opening for a glorious work in the future. Your Bro. saved through Jesus.

My Dear Brethren: — May the dear Lord wonderfully bless and and keep you from all sin. May you have complete victory in your souls over the world, flesh and the devil, and be filled with all the fulness of God. O hallelujah to our God who gives us the victory and causeth us to triumph over all the power of the enemy. Yes, they that receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness, shall reign in this life by one Christ Jesus. He gives us power over all the powers of the enemy. Glory to our God for ever and ever!

We are here in the name of King Jesus to do His blessed will; arrived here yesterday the 26th, and expect to remain here some time. There are several places here in Daviess and Martin Go’s they want meeting. We ask the prayers of all the saints that we may have great wisdom in dealing with souls. We stopped on our way to Ind., at Vandalia, Ill. where Bro. George Bolds and Co. were holding meeting. There were a few souls saved while we were there; then we came on to Browns town, where we held a few meetings in the name of Jesus, A few souls were convicted, and quite a number might have been saved had we stayed longer, but we felt that we must hasten on, as the ground was frozen and the road hard so we could travel: so we just got through in good time, as it began raining last night and is still raining; but we are praising God for victory. We expect to go to Jay and Grant Go’s. If there are any saints between Jay and Daviess Go’s, let them drop us a card at Odon Ind., and if the Lord wills we will stop with them a while. If there are any saints in the middle or Southeastern part of the state, we would love to hear from them so we could come by and see them. God bless the dear ones. O how I long to meet the dear ones in Mich. and Northern Ind. O hallelujah to our King!

We all send our much love and greeting to all the saints every where, especially those whom we have meet. I remain your free Bro., sanctified wholly. Glory to Jesus!

Dear Saints of God: — May peace, love and joy from God the Father, and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you all.

I feel led of the Lord to write my testimony for the TRUMPET, and tell of the wonderful things God has done for me. Glory to His name for the wonderful works He is doing in these last days for the children of men. Truly, when we behold His power, we are led to say with one of old, “What is man that thou art mindful of him, or the son of man that Thou visiteth him?”

Last July I was taken with Neuralgia all through my body, but particularly in my head and face. The pain was so severe that it was impossible to keep my face straight; but believing in the promise of James 5:14, 15, I complied with the command and called for the Elders of the Church. They prayed over me, anointing me with oil in the name of the Lord, and praise God the pain left instantly. The next day I was taken with cholera morbus which continued all day. In the evening I again sent for Bro. J. W. Byers and wife. They again anointed me, and the Lord healed me again instantly; But as I had eaten scarcely any thing for several days I was left very weak; and owing to an evil influence that was in the house at the time, and to my weakened condition, the devil took possession of me, body and mind. Oh the awful state I was in! I heard devils around my bed talking and laughing, and saw one standing at the foot of my bed mocking at me; but I finally lost consciousness and knew nothing of what was going on about me. After being in that state for twenty hours, the prayers of God’s dear saints prevailed and the evil spirit was cast out, and I was left resting — oh so sweetly in the hands of God, and was healed body and soul by His mighty power; and in less than one week was up helping to attend to the wants of my family, without the aid of a doctor, and without taking medicine. My brother told one of the physcians of our town about my case, and he said that they could not handle such cases. As much as to say there was no human help for me. So, dear ones, you see what a wonderful Jesus we have. We have taken Him for our only Physician, and find Him a very present help in time of need. I can say this morning that I am all on the Altar, saved and kept by the power of God. Your sister under the blood.

Dear Saints Greeting: — I do praise my heavenly Father for keeping me. Glory be to Jesus for victory over all the works of the devil. The time has come that the saints are striving together, and the powers of hell are giving away in this place and souls are being saved in spite of the devil. Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God. I do praise God that I can say of a truth that I know I am a son of God. Praise His name forever! I was a vile sinner, but I repented of my sin and asked God to forgive me. I felt the great burden roll off, and oh the joy, no tongue can tell! I felt like a new man, and so I was. Old things have all passed away; behold all things have become new. Praise the Lord forever! Glory to God! in the very act of moving forward for sanctification the Lord wonderfully baptized my soul with the Holy Ghost. I then knew that my soul was as pure as heaven, and I realized of a truth that we could be as our Master, but not above Him. The reason so many lose their experience is because they do not get into this grace wherein they can stand.

This leaves wife and I both hid away with Christ in God, saved and sanctified, walking in the light even as He is in the light. Glory to God!

Dear Brethren: — I praise God because my whole soul, body and Spirit is filled with the peace which our blessed Savior left with and gave unto His disciples of long ago, (John 14:27.) and that all that Jesus Christ left with His disciples were also for us: “Neither pray I for these alone but for them also which shall believe me through their words.” But it is very evident that our blessed Savior did not pray for the sectarian monsters of to-day, for He says; “That they may all be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” Is it any wonder that the world does not believe?

In 1886 came a knock at the door of my heart — terrible too — though merciful — was this second call — a loving wife was called from my side — a wife of one year — she passed away as all christians do — confidently — calmly — smilingly — peacefully — efell asleep.” I prayed, and attended babylon revivals but there was no food to my soul. My prayer to God was for a salvation that would stand all the bombardments of the adversary, and it was answered.

One Sabbath in Feb. 1888, at least one of the “people that walked in darkness saw a great light” shining right into the very dark recesses of the heart. Oh how my heart thrilled with joy when I heard “this Gospel of the kingdom preached” by a holy man. I had been wandering from sea to sea, seeking for it, and could not find it. Amos 8:12.

I am praising God to-day for a heart full and complete in the love of God. All hatred and malice gone — all is love. And ever since the night of Feb. 14 1888, I have belonged to the Church spoken of in the Bible. Amos 8:17; Jer. 14:11; Heb. 12:22, 23; 1 Pet. 2:9, 10; Rev. 12:17; 15:2. Praise God and the Lamb forever and ever! Thank God for one fold and one Shepherd! I have found that prayer is the essential and unfailing remedy for all spiritual and bodily weaknesses. “Pray without ceasing.” Amen! Your Bro. saved and kept.

Dearly beloved Saints: — I do praise the Lord for the blessed evening light that shiner in my path-way. Oh praise God! for salvation that keeps me from all sin; I know I am wholly sanctified by a second work of grace wrought in my soul. I am under the blood, doing the will of God, as he makes it known to me. I bless God that I am out of babylon, and babylon out of me. I thank God, that he has set me free from the darkness of this world. I do thank God for the word of God; it is food to my soul, and none of it is too plain for me; there is just enough of it to complete the great plan of salvation. I know that the blood of Jesus, saves me just now; I have the victory over the world, flesh, and the devil. Praise the Lord for ever and ever, for this wonderful salvation; I can never praise God enough, for what he has done for me, and is still doing: he has saved me and healed this body. I will give him all the glory. It is nothing that I have done, but he has done it all. Oh, to be nothing, only to lie at his feel. Oh, how sweet to trust Jesus in all things, which I have, in the last few months, had to do more than ever before; I feel that it has sunk me deeper into the will of God, by so doing I feel firm in God, and will trust him while I live; truly the Lord has been good to me, in giving me that which I needed.

I do praise God for all things. I have no fellow-ship with the unfruitful works of darkness. Old things have passed away, behold all things have become new. My delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his aw I meditate day and night. When I feel depressed in mind or body. I get the Word of God and read it and ask God to bless it to the good of my soul, and to the strengthening of my body, and he does the work; I have always found him a present help in time of need. O, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God; how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out. For who hath known the mind of the Lord or who hath been his counsellor, or who hath given to him and it shall be recompensed unto him again. For of him, and throng him, and to him, are all things; to whom be glory for ever. Amen! Romans 11:33-36. I am all the Lord’s. Pray for me that I may have more power, and be used to God’s glory in all things. Your sister in Christ, doing the will of God in all things. I am saved and sanctified and kept by the power of god.

Dear Saints: — I am led of the Spirit to speak for Him just now. Glory to His holy name! I am still saved and out of sectism and sectism out of me. Bless God! I can say to the glory of God that I am dead to pride and passion. The dear sister who spoke to us a few weeks ago, said she discovered anger and pride in her heart. She lacked that much of being dead; for if we be dead indeed unto sill, how can we live any longer therein?

Praise God who is able to kill us to all sin, and make us alive in Him. I do rejoice because I am kept by the power of God. Since I spoke to you through the TRUMPET, God has worked mightily in bringing His little Church together at this place. O if some true baptized brethren would come here, I feel that much good may be done. If any of the dear ones feel led to come this way, let us hear from you. The cause of holiness at this place has received a fearful blow by the action of a false leader; but glory to God in the highest! He ever did and ever shall have a people. Dear Saints: — I can say of a truth that I am saved and wholly sanctified. Glory be to His holy name! I have given up all to follow Jesus. I have sweet peace in my soul which the world can neither give nor lake away. Praise the name of Jesus! He is always ready and willing to answer the call of His children. The power of the Holy Ghost thrills my soul and body as I write. Glory be to Jesus! I am willing to do whatever the Lord makes known to me.

Your humble sister at the feet of Jesus.

Dear Saints: — Feb. 2 1882, I was filled with power. I walked in the light for about two years; then, from neglect of duty, I lost all power with God. For five long years I walked in the blackness of night. When I saw myself as I was, I was as a broken cistern, all empty. Praise the Lord! God showed me my heart, and I got down as a sinner and He forgave all of my sins, Jan. 26, 1889, and I died to all but Jesus. On the 4th of Feb. I was raised in newness of life; the life I now live is Christ within me the hope of glory. Praise the Lord for a present salvation. Dear ones, if you think you have Christ in you, but do not know sure, in the name of Jesus get the witness in your soul; for God is not mocked. I walked for five years and thought I was doing the will of God, but was not sure. But thanks be to God who giveth me the witness that I am justified and sanctified, that too by the second work of grace. All the glory belongs to God.

Dearly beloved Saints: — Praise the Lord! To-day finds me saved with an everlasting salvation. My soul is preserved blameless before the Lord each day of my life. The Lord wonderfully leads me out into the deep things of God, and my soul has a continual feast of fat things. Oh bless God! my heart is enlarged and I can feel a mighty river of peace flowing through my soul. Glory to God! it fills me with joy unspeakable and full of glory. Praise God forever ad ever! When I was a servant of satan, I served him about as well as I knew how; but now I have become the servant of Christ. Now I serve God with all my heart, mind, soul and strength. I have given all that I have and am to the Lord, and He can use me to His own glory. Pray for me, dear saints, that I may be kept under the blood, and not get my eyes off of Jesus, but that I may have an eye single to His glory in all things.

Your Sister sanctified, made white and tried.

Dear Saints: — I do praise Jesus for this blessed evening light. I am saved, and kept by the mighty power of God. Two years ago the Lord forgave my sins and cleansed me from all filthiness of the flesh and Spirit, and made me every whit whole. I chewed and smoked tobacco, drank whiskey, and worse than all, I used Laudanum enough every day to kill any common person. But praise the Lord! I am live from all of this now, and walking in all the light of God. Pray for me.

Dear Saints: — I feel led of the Lord to write my testimony for the TRUMPET, hoping it may be the means of helping some poor soul to examine themselves and see where they are standing.

About four years ago I was converted, and have had my name on a class-book ever since, thinking it to be the right way. When the saints held meeting at Grover Town I did not believe in them, and percuted them. A little over a year ago I was married; my husband takes the TRUMPET, and I almost hated it until a few days ago I was hardly able to be up, I was in bed a good part of the time. I got hold of the TRUMPET and began reading and studying, and found that I had to give up to the will of God or be lost. The more I read, the more sin I could see about the sect, and when I gave up and took God’s Word for my shield, I felt the Lord blessed me, soul and body. Praise His name forever! It was made so plain that I feel that if I had rejected, I would have been lost in darkness. I do not enjoy sanctification yet, but I feel that the Lord has forgiven my sins, and I love to read the TRUMPET now, it does me good to read the testimonies of the dear saints. I found that I could not pick the mote out of my brother’s eye until I had the beam out of my own eye. I hope the dear saints will pray for me and my companion that we may get low at the feet of Jesus and put all on the altar and be saved to the uttermost.

Dear Saints: — O how I praise God for what He has done for me. Forty-five years ago I prayed God to have mercy on me, a poor sinner. He forgave my sins, and I was fully justified by His blood. Praise God for this perfect work, the first work, Regeneration. Not quite two years after this, I received the second work; the old plant was taken out root and branch, and I was filled with all the fulness of God. Glory be to God forever and ever! I am happy all the time. Jesus is with me always. Bless His name forever! My sun never goes down. Praise the Lord for His sanctifying grace, and power to keep, I know not how. I am dead to sin and sect and free in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — I am saved and sanctified and have complete victory in my soul. Praise God for salvation that keeps us. We are having glorious meetings here; the Lord is with us, and is adding to His Church such as are being saved. Praise God! A few months ago sister Berrie was taken very sick; she obeyed the Word and sent for the Elder of the Church and we anointed her with oil in the name of the Lord, and she was immediately healed, and went about the room praising God. Glory to God! We had a glorious meeting. May God bless all the dear saints. Amen!

Dear Brethren — To-day finds me saved and sanctified and kept by the mighty power of God. I praise God for my deliverance from sin and sectism, and for my liberty in Christ. I do not have to go hungering and thirsting after righteousness, for Jesus fills my soul just now. Praise His name forever! I do rejoice that I have the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over the number of his name. I give God all the glory for taking me out of babylon, and taking babylon out of me. Hallelujah to His name forever and ever! I am away out on the sea of glass, having the harps of God, praising His name continually. Pray for me that I may stand firm to the end of this life.

Dear Brethren: — I do praise God for a free and complete salvation that keeps us entire, wanting nothing. For some time I have been afflicted with tumors. One day last January I went to prayer-meeting and asked the Elders to lay hands on me for my healing. Praise the Lord! I was healed of four tumors that caused me such pain I could scarcely get to meeting. After the Lord healed me, I walked four miles at a time without any pain. I do praise the dear Lord for this wonderful deliverance, and I feel like telling the whole world how the Lord will bless all who will trust Him.

Dear Brethren: — My testimony is that I am saved and sanctified, and healed both soul and body. Glory to Jesus forever and ever for this wonderful salvation that I enjoy day by day. I know that I am saved to the uttermost and Jesus reigns continually in my heart. Hallelujah to our God for this blessed experience. Oh Praise God oh my soul! Pray for me that I may remain faithful and at last meet with you all in heaven.

I feel to praise God for His wonderful love toward the children of men. This morning I have that sweet peace that passeth all understanding. Bless the Lord! I am wholly saved of God, and doing His will. I know that I please God, for I have sweet communion with Him, and oh how He blesses my soul when I work for Him. I ask all of God’s little ones to pray God to keep us in His order that we may be the means of many precious souls being saved into His kingdom.

Dear Brethren: — I praise God that I have again come back to the Lord. My brother and I have both started to make heaven our home. Praise the Lord for full and free salvation! There is being a glorious work done in this vicinity at present. There has been about ten washed in the blood of the Lamb, and others are seeking. O praise His holy name forever! Pray for us.

To all the Saints: — This morning I can say to the glory of God that I am free from condemnation; sweetly reigning with Jesus in the Spirit of God. Hallelujah! I do praise God for the way He blesses my soul. Glory and praise be to His name forever and ever. The saints here are in a very good working condition, and moving out in the love of God. They are on the straight line of holiness, living by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. They would be glad if some good spiritual teacher could be with them.

May God Bless His little ones and establish them in every God word and work.

Dear Saints: — My testimony is that I am saved from all sin by a second work of grace, and Jesus gives me constant victory in my soul. Praise the Lord forever and ever! Since we are saved the Lord has been our physician and has manifested His power several times in the healing of our bodies, for which He shall have all the glory. How good it is to trust the Lord for all things.

Last September Bro’s Howard and Schell I were here and we had a glorious meeting which lasted nearly a week. They preached the truth with wonderful power, which resulted in the salvation of a few precious souls. Many were convicted, and some acknowledged the truth, but were filled with so much sect prejudice that they would not yield. May the Lord pity them and give them honest hearts. The Church here is on fire for God. May God keep them saved from all the works of the devil. Pray for us.

Dear Brethren: — While reading the testimonies and news of the salvation of souls being saved, my heart is made to rejoice and praise God for saving a wretch like me. Three years ago I came here, and was at that time a cold professor; but by hearing the straight Word preached, was made to see my condition before the Lord and I accepted salvation on the Bible line, and I praise God that I did. I want to say to the honor and glory of God that I have been saved from things that I never thought of as being wrong before, because I never had been taught so; but praise God for a pure Gospel, and holy men to preach it. I accept the whole Word.

I want to say to the glory of God that I was healed of sore eyes, with which I had been afflicted since I was nine years old. Praise God for the healing power, as well as the cleonsing power which cleanses us from all filthiness of the flesh and Spirit. It takes away the appetite for tobacco.

Your Bro saved and kept by the power of God.

Dear Readers: — I praise God for a present salvation that keeps me each day. I cannot praise God enough for what He has done for me. When I was of the world, I loved the things of the world; but the love of God was shed abroad in my heart He has cast out all foolish pride. Praise His name! I once had a desire to become a Christian, but when I saw professing christians playing cards and dancing, I thought I was as good without a profession, as they were with one. I do praise God for a plain and straight salvation that keeps me each day without sin. Pray for me that I always keep low and humble, and do the Lord’s will in all things.

Dear Brethren: — I praise God for salvation full and free. The Lord has saved me from all sin and filthiness of the flesh.

He has cleansed me from tea, coffee, tobacco and whiskey. Oh how I do praise praise God for what I feel in my soul. He has killed me out to this world and its pleasures, and made me alive in Christ Jesus. We are the temple of the living God. He says: “I will dwell in them and walk in them, and I will be their God and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them and be ye separate saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: and I will receive you, and will be a father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters saith the Lord Almighty.” — 3 Cor. 6:16-18. “Having therefore these promises, dealy beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and Spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man destroy the temple of God, him shall God destroy: for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” Praise God! I know that I am a temple of God, and He dwells in my soul. I praise God that I ever heard the true Gospel preached. My way grows brighter, and my faith grows stronger. I find God a present help in the time of need. I am saved and sanctified, ready to be revealed in the last day. Pray for me that I stand firm.

Dear Brethren: — The Lord bless and keep you walking in the light of Jesus Christ is my prayer.

My testimony is that Jesus saves me and keeps me free from all sin just now. Praise the Lord forever and ever! It is now a little over a year since the good Lord saved me from this wicked world, but glory to Jesus! I can say that this morning finds me in the straight and narrow path that leads to everlasting life, peace and joy which this world cannot take away.

My prayer to God is that those who are not walking in a straight line for Jesus may come and give themselves to God before it is too late, for surely we are in perilous- times; and those who are not ready to meet God, should hasten to make ready to meet the Bridegroom when He cometh. Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Amen!

Dear Saints Greeting: — May the God of peace be with you all. Glory to Jesus! I have the victory in my soul. Sister Mary Cole held a meeting at Otter Springs Kansas, near Humboldt. The saints were strengthened and built up, and more settled on the Word. One Bro. and sister received sanctification during the meeting. Alice Slagle’s eyes were healed by the power of God through faith. I praise God for what He has done for me, and by the grace of God I am determined to run the race with patience, to be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless in that great and notable day of the Lord. I am saved, sanctified and kept.

Dear Saints: — I have never written any thing for the TRUMPET before because I have not felt led of the Lord to do so; but to-night the Spirit says write and I obey. Glory to the name of Jesus! I am sanctified wholly, free in the Spirit, and know no other name but the name of Jesus. Oh how sweet that dear name sounds to me; “ ’tis music in my ears.” I am so glad that I ever learned His precious name. In Him my soul finds sweet repose. I would not exchange the peace, joy and love that I feel in my soul to-night for ten-thousand worlds like this. Glory be to God!

Your sister.

Amy Carey.
