The Warning and Evening Light.

_____

Acts 2:4: Dan. 19:10; Isa. 21:12; Zech. 14:6, 7.

When the Morning Light shone clear and bright,
With the Holy Spirit given;
There were people then as there are to-day.
Who opposed the truth and dared to say.
There was a better and easier way
To get to heaven

Now the Evening is shining bright,
And the truth again is heard:
There are people still who oppose God’s will,
And the sea.. of the scorner repeatedly fill.
While doing their master, the devil’s will.
Whose anger the truth hath stirred.

The Morning was light, the Evening is light,
But alas! what a contrast was noon,
When the darkness of night had clouted the sight,
And hid from view the sunlight so bright,
With yoke leads, and fetters, which held truth so
As to make her a victim so soon! light.

This Evening Light that now shines so bright,
Is according to God’s word;
If you’ll search with prayer, you will find it there,
And through faith you too, may claim a share;
But waste no time, for there is none to spare.
For the Trumpet sound is heard.

That the end is near, is now quite clear;
Dear sinner come be made free;
There is peace and joy on the Savior’s breast.
Where the burdened s..l can find sweet rest,
Where the trusting saint is forever blessed;
Come, try for yourself and see

MASONIC SALVATION.

_____

MASONRY aims, by means of forms and ceremonies to fit a man or rather Mason for an eternal abode with the “Supreme Grand Master of Masonry,” and if Masons follow out their obligations, there is not the least doubt bin what they will be enabled to do so. In that same Grand Lodge they will no doubt meet with their Ancient Brethren, who were so well versed in the ancient mysteries Osiris. Baal, and others, all representatives of sun worship. And others they will meet on the level of the bottomless pit, with their Grand Master Satan, and never have occasion to part, either on the square or otherwise. Then they will not need a compass to circumscribe their desires and keep them within due bounds toward their fellow men, more especially brother Masons. As they have placed the square and compass above the Bible here on earth, so will God feed them with wrath for forsaking the Lord the fountain of living waters, and hewing themselves out broken cisterns which can hold no water. Masonry in rejecting Christ rejects his plan of salvation and goes about to form a plan of their own which “saves” them as vessels of wrath, and preserves them in iniquity until the time when God declares they shall be consumed. Understanding the Word that declares “There is no other name [Christ] in heaven or among men whereby men can be saved,” and believing it and realizing it, we wish to examine this counterfeit salvation by comparisons. Salvation (the true) takes men from the darkness of sin to the light of Christ, to liberty, freedom, joy and peace, knowledge and power. Salvation (Masonic) takes men from what it terms the profane world. (including all Christians and others initiated into the secrets of Masonry), which it terms darkness and brings them into a light which it declares to be “The Light:” which is composed of three great lights, the Holy Bible, square and compasses by the aid of the representatives of the three lesser, which are the sun, moon and master of the lodge. The candidate for the mysteries of Masonry is asked a few questions, a fee is collected and he is taken to an ante-room, there stripped of his clothing save perhaps shirt, drawers and one stocking. The regular way recogized by the best authority, is to take away all clothing from him, as that, in the Lodge counterfeit, represents his own righteousness which is in Masonic eyes as filthy rags. Then he is given a garment used by the lodge for the purpose, usually a pair of overalls, buttonless, with a check string, as he must have no metallic substance about him. This garment furnished by the lodge represents the wedding garment spoken of by Christ; that is the righteousness of saints, which comes from God’s house eternal in the heavens. His eyes are bandaged, which represents the darkness of sin; and around his neck is a cable tow or small rope. This represents his bound condition chained in sin and darkness, and versed only in the profane wisdom of the world, he appears at the door of the lodge blind, destitute and naked. The lecture represents him, — “Divested of all metals, neither naked nor clad, barefoot nor shod, hoodwinked with a cable tow once about my neck, in which situation I was conducted to the door of the lodge by a friend whom I afterwards found to be a brother and caused to give three distinct knocks.

Question. What was said to you from within?

Answer. Who comes here?

Q. Your answer?

A. A poor blind candidate who has long been in ‘darkness’ and now seeks to be brought to ‘light’ to have and receive a part of the rights, lights, and benefits of this worshipful lodge, erected to God, and dedicated to the Holy Saints John; as many a brother and fellow has done before him.” —

So when they initiate a preacher or deacon he must memorize and repeat the answers given above. Must confess that he has been in “darkness,” (thus denying Christ even if he has Christ) and that he desires to be brought to light. (Masonic light.) Thus Masonry recognizes no other light than that which she gives her poor deluded votaries, and in order to receive her light they must confess that hitherto “they have long been in darkness.” Yea more, “that they seek to be brought to light.” How about this you D. D. L. L. D.? You had been in darkness had you? So that your esteemed friends the gambler, saloon-keeper, currupted bond holder, office seeker, and villain have the exalted privilege of tying a rope around your neck, and a handkerchief over your eyes and leading you to light. God help you sir, and yet you go on and are not satisfied until you take some thirty-three doses of the same. On page 20 “Manual of the Lodge” we find the candidate described. “There he stands, without our portals, on the threshold of his new Masonic life, in darkness, helplessness and ignorance. Having been wandering amid the errors and covered over with the pollutions of the outer and profane world (no matter whether he be a Methodist or Baptist preacher or another kind, there he is as Masonic authorities describe him,) he comes enquiringly to our door, seeking the new birth.” The above is not in the secret work, but is published openly as a lodge manual. Proving plainly as before stated that the Masonic writers, Mackey, Pierson, Webb, Chase, Oliver, Morris, and others have written the whole system already, so that he, who, like your humble servant, has been within the secret chambers, has a key to unlock and prove to the world that the secrets of Free Masonry can be demonstrated to the world. Fie on you Masons! Your laws are made for little fish. Why don’t you “church” some of the big ones who have furnished the keys to unlock every degree from 1st to 33d. What are Christains doing with the “new birth” they get in Masonry? Christ says. “Ye must be born again.” Masonry does not reconize that birth; why? Because they demand of preacher, layman, and sinners, saloon-keeper and all to become seekers after their new Masonic birth, making no difference at all save that they laugh at the preacher more than they do at a common sinner.

After the question is answered as given before, and certain other questions are asked and answered, the candidate is entered and received upon the point of a sharp instrument which is to remind him of penalties in store should he reveal the secrets of Masonry. He is then led about, caused to kneel and listen while some Masonic priest reads a short prayer, after which (still kneeling) he is asked in whom he places his trust; his answer must be, “In God.” Should he say in the Son of God or all the Trinity, he will be asked again until the answer is as given above. So after coming in darkness he makes a confession of faith, i. e. Masonic faith.

Christ says, “With the heart man believeth and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Masonry counterfeits this saying of Christ and does it as above stated. The ceremony goes on until the candidate is initiated into the square step, how to approach the East, etc. See Eze. 8:16. He then kneels at the altar on his naked left knee, his right forming a square, his left hand supporting the Holy Bible, square, and compasses, and his right resting thereon. He then obligates himself to keep all the secrets of an E. A. Mason, binding himself under first penalty given in Trumpet, Dec. 8, 1892. He is then asked, “What, in your present blind condition, do you most desire?” (Previous to this question his cable tow is taken away, representing the loosing of the bands of sin.) He (prompted by senior Deacon) answers “Light.” This light that he desires and receives as we will soon show is but a counterfeit, a lie, that he might believe it and be damned.

Return to the initiation, “Bro. S. D. and Brethrens stretch forth your hand and assist me in bringing this brother from darkness to light in Masonry. (Masons form two rows on either side of candidate who is still kneeling, the Worshipful Master in front of candidate and Senior Deacon at his back, ready to slip off the bandage from his eyes.) W. M. repeats, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters; and God said: “Let there be light and there was light.” Gen. 1st chapter. “And now in humble commemoration of which ancient (some say sublime) event I Masonically say; ‘Let there be light.’” At the word “Light” all clap their hands, some also stamp their feet, the S. D. removes the bandage and the candidate is brought to “Light.” Such is the wonderful ceremony of giving Masonic light, sometimes called the “shock of enlightenment.” Such is the Masonic “new birth,” an invention of Satan, a delusion fitting even the Christian by another birth for the regions of the lost. This work of Satan is only equalled by the Mock Resurrection of the Masonic Savior, Hiram Abiff. See. Trumpet, Dec. 22. Everywhere through the Masonic work we readily discover the footprints of Satan. “Just as good Christianity as you want,” he tells the “Jack Mason,” and he in turn tells his neighbor the same and helps Satan to damn his neighbor also.

The newly brought to light candidate is then shown the Bible, square and compasses, and told that the Bible is the rule and guide of faith: the square to square his actions, and the compasses to circumscribe his desires, and keep within due bounds toward all mankind, more especially brother Masons.

Their square robs the Bible, their compass takes the place of the Bible. Basing a faith on the Bible, and their works on something else. “More especially brother Masons” — shows how far their compasses extend, and how they are to square their actions. How about cheating, wronging and defrauding brother Masons, so far only do the points of their compasses extend and circumscribe. They do not even observe that, as many a Mason can testify.

“He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself.” 1 John 5: 10. Masons counterfeit this witness by presenting the candidate with a lambskin or white leather apron which they inform him is the emblem of innocence, (counterfeit of God’s justification) and the badge of a Mason. Yet I have seen Masons wearing that same badge, with a tin cup full of beer in one hand and a bologna sausage in the other, their beards covered with the juice of tobacco, and they telling filthy stories. Rank! smells abominable! and yet I have been among such scenes; have been plucked as a brand from the burning.

Masonry used to be “a good enough religion for me” because I knew I was a sinner. I only wonder I did not see it before. God’s word and Spirit wonderfully opened the secret things of Masonry for me as it has for others. Praise God!

Having the true salvation and thanking God for it I do not care for counterfeits. Satan exhibits a cunning that is wonderful when he entangles the victim for Masonry; pointing to the worthy men whom he says have belonged to the order, forgetting to say anything about the scoundrels who make the institution a lobby for all their tricks, a refuge for their meanness, and a hiding place for thieves and robbers of every class and description. They make a great “charity” cry also. They are wonderfully good people, these same Masons. Their salvation bound up in oaths of secrecy shows that they are selfish. If they have a thing that will save the world, why is it that they disregard the Word that says, “Freely ye have received freely give.” Why do they claim to initiate only the able- bodied, the good “moral” man, and the man who is able to take care of himself, etc. Christ came to heal the sick, not the able-bodied, to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance, and to give us a salvation that would send us out to seek after the needy. Yes a salvation that would buy a coffin for a poor widow’s dead husband, and not make her pay the bill as hundreds of Masonic lodges have done. Preserve this, as we may have an occasion to refer to it and so save space.

Your saved brother,

F. Husted.

Manchester, Ia.

Dear Saints: Praise the Lord, I am again able to write and tell you I have had a trial of faith. I was taken sick and asked God to heal me; it was done. Then I was taken down with LaGrippe and a gathering in my head, was given up to die, by my children and friends, laying helpless for a number of days in great agony; away from the dear saints, no one near to pray for me, God in his great mercy gave me faith to trust him with my life. I gave up every thing and said, Thy will oh Lord, not mine, be done; if my work is done I am thy child. Jesus thou hast paid the debt and set me free. Father, save my dear children, give them light and everlasting life, take away their pride and leave off the world. My love for my children gave me hope. I may live to see them saved praising God and serving him. A voice said, “Ask and it shall begiven.” Then I prayed the Lord to heal me, let me live to work for him, give me new strength to tell sinners what a Savior I have found. He saves me from sin, healed my body, saved from the cold grave. My life is given to serve the Master who gave his life for me. Blessed Jesus, how little we can do when we work for him all our life.it is short here. May sinners come to the cross, repent and live. God help the saints to labor on, tell the glad story Jesus lives to lead his loved and tried little band on to glory. Children of our King, sing his praise. Glory to his name! Amen.

Your sister saved by grace divine,

Mary E. Allaway.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ: I feel it my duty to write my experience in being converted, sanctified, and healed, what God had me to know; for which I do praise the Lord and give him all the honor. When I was about thirteen years old I was converted. I am now twenty- eight. Since that time some would say to me, You have never been converted, and by hearing that talk sometimes made me wonder whether it was so or not, but I felt that the Lord had forgiven me of my sins, and knew I had a bright countenance before God and was wonderful happy. About two years ago holiness meetings were held here, and the truth preached in its purity; I had been afflicted for several years, and grew worse and worse. I suffered much pain and took medical treatment for about four years. At times would be some better, but not well. I became convinced that doctors could never cure me, but the Lord was able to do the work. My suffering was such that I was scarcely able to be out of bed, Bro. High and wife came to our house to hold meeting. I went to the altar praying earnestly to be sanctified, and the work was soon done. Not many days after I was praying for the Lord to heal my body, and had been praying most all morning when a thought came so quick, You are healed. I began to feel better; night drew near and I was impressed to go to meeting, Although was very weak in body, God gave me strength to go. We had a social meeting, and the Spirit of God impressed me to testify that I was healed. I knew the people would doubt it for the neighbors thought I could not live but a very short time. I told them I was healed. When I was healed I weighed eighty-five pounds, now I weigh one hundred and twenty; gained thirty-five pounds; in six months. Weigh more than I have weighed in six years, and am still gaining in strength. I have never taken one drop of medicine since God healed my body. I do praise the Lord for what he has made me know.

School Books Needed.

_____

As the Childrens Home on the camp ground is a charitable home and school, and has just lately beer started there are many things needed. We feel it would be to the glory of God to make mention of a few things. There is a lack of school books just at present, and no doubt many of our readers have some of the books needed, which are now doing no one any good; if so you can glorify God by sending them at once to be used in the school. The following books can be used: Harrington’s Spellers, Harper’s Readers, Harvey’s English Grammar. Steele’s Physiology, Barnes’ School History. — Arithmetic, Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary, and such other books as any one sees fit to furnish for a library or reading room.

Bro. Orr is doing well with the school, and we feel is the one whom God has chosen to instruct the children and see that they are properly educated and their youthful minds inclined toward a Savior who is able to save from all sin. It is a very humble beginning as it does not begin on a large scale, but the outlook is good for quite a work being done, and many are wanting homes for children Homes for such ones will be furnished just as soon as possible after the necessary means and provisions are sent in. At present but few can be cared for. If you wish to know what is needed most you can write and ask, but if you send anything that it takes for housekeeping, either furniture, bedding, kitchen outfit, or anything for the table can be used. It costs but little to ship by freight. We speak of this as many have not the money to give yet would be glad to divide their living with others for the cause of Christ. The dear brother is teaching the school free of charge, boarding himself and family, and we should not forget a Christian’s duty towards him and family, and also ask the blessings of God upon him in his work for the Master.

Our heart was much touched over the departure of our dear Bro’s Achor and Henry for the foreign field. O how we wish we could have had the privilege of greeting them before they went forth upon the broad ocean. Let us all pray much for these dear saints, that God may keep them safe under the shadow of his wings and use them mightily in the salvation of, first, the missionaries from division and confusion, and then of many poor heathen. We did pray God to send some brother with Bro. Achor. but it seemed a pity for Bro. Henry to leave the fruitful field in the East. May the Lord send some one to take his place with Bro. and Sister Rupert, We feel that a new epoch has come in this last reformation; and God will surely send his heralds forth rapidly to every nation. For this Holy Spirit consumption is decreed in the midst of all the land. O dearly beloved who have been called of God to work in his vineyard, can you read the many earnest calls for gospel help, hungry souls begging for the the true bread of life, can you read and hear these and still be easy at home about the stuff that will all be burned when the Lord comes? O for the sake of souls, dear beloved, let us rush to the rescue! The time is short, and how will you feel if the Lord should come and find you loitering at home when you should be at work, or find you holding fast thousands of dollars’ worth more than is needed to meet life’s needs; some of which could just as well as not have been used to send forth the “feet of the oxen” to sow beside all waters? Beloved, you have heard the appeal for help to feed the dear ones on camp hill near Grand Junction, and is it all passed by and no wheat or other necessaries have been offered up to God in this good work? Having a good little mill in the office to grind both flour and cracked wheat, they can live largely on wheat, and there is no danger of wheat being injured in shipping. There is no reason why the Lord should not have a few sacks out of the bounties he has given you. If it has not been attended to let the elder or deacon move out in the matter and ask all to give an offering to God, and send it by freight to the Junction, and God will bless you.

And for Jesus’ sake let a few more send help to buy the German type, that that work be no longer delayed.

If no team is furnished the little ones on camp hill, we hope the dear saints will again turn out and put a great many logs in the mill yard, for many more buildings will be needed for both camp and home use; and there is the timber for all the frame and rough material. The next June camp will be a very large one. The cheap rates to Chicago will favor many in coming to camp, who expect to avail themselves of the same. A little hotel should be erected for the accommodation of persons who are in good circumstances, and who would wish to put up only at such a place. Some lodged among certain neighbor families and paid them well, but were not treated very agreeably; and I think one at least put up at the village hotel over a mile away. There are certain people that do not feel free to stop where there is any charity involved in the business; they are used to paying squarely for their meals, etc., and there should be some provision made for such that they may be agreeably entertained. The boarding house needs to be doubled in size, and much sleeping room prepared. Let it be done for Jesus’ sake.

NEWS FROM THE FIELD.

__________

Denver. Col., Jan. 17, 1893.

Dearly Beloved Saints of The Most High God: Grace and peace be ever multiplied abundantly unto you.

After returning to Visalia we held a few meetings in that place, with but few hearers. I think we never in our life found such a stay-away-from-meeting people as at Farmersville and Visalia. One cause, no doubt, is the fact that a preacher living not far from the latter place for a short time, preached among the saints, then was drawn over to the Good Way sect, from which he went more fully to the devil, and his character has become a stench on the cause of Christ. In this instance the old phariseeism was exactly fulfilled. “They compass land and sea to make one proselyte, and when he is made, they make him two fold more the child of hell than themselves.”

Dear Bro. and Sister Bently are there as Lot in Sodom. But they expect to be out at work for the Master, having nothing else to do but to serve the Lord. And there is yet one saved soul in the place. Dear Bro. Lemon, who also feels called to work for the Lord, and we think, if lie is faithful to the voice of God, he will soon have to throw down his shoe hammer and take the more effectual hammer of God’s word and go forth to break the rocky hearts of men. May God bless and encourage those dear ones for Christ’s sake.

We felt by the leading of the Lord that the time had arrived for us to start eastward. On Tuesday. Jan. 10., came to Sacramento, and the next day at 12 o’clock, on board the tourist car on the Denver and Rio Grand R. R., started over the mountains and sometimes under the mountains, arriving here Saturday morning. We took the saints by surprise, but thank God we found them joyful in glory and prospering in the Lord. O how our soul was blessed in meeting them once more. One soul has already given her heart to God in the meetings and there was joy in heaven and in earth. We find the Lord has added a few to the church since we were here in the Spring.

Bro. Swinburn just returned from Arkansas City. Kan. the day before our arrival, where he had been assisting Bro. Willis. He reports a great awakening at that place. He expects to return and assist Bro. Willis again.

We expect to continue our journey in a few days, next stopping at Stafford, Kan. Let all the dear saints continue to pray for your unworthy servant, that God may always and everywhere be glorified in our soul and body. O blessed be the Lord God, our salvation, for his great goodness in bestowing upon us the blessing of good health, and for preserving us from all harm and danger in our journevings. Especially in the great dangers over the wild and awful mountains. Truly the Denver and Rio Grand is the great scenic route of the world. Some of the most sublime scenery was passed in the night. At Glenwood Springs the train stopped an hour and a half, giving the passengers a much appreciated relief from long confinement and a very much enjoyed ramble amid the beautiful scenery of the little city, that lies in a small glen, surrounded by towering mountains on all sides. Here, for the first time in our life, we saw hot springs. The weather was cold and snow on the ground, and the many stony springs and the great hot water reservoir caused a steam to arise, that made a person feel as though the infernal fires were not far off. A stone wall separates between two large pools, in one of which arise many cold springs, and just over the wall the hot water boils up. At this place is the junction of the Grand River and the Roaring Fork. Our line followed up the Grand River, the canon of which was very delightful. The great read-stone mountains towered up on both sides in the form of large old castles; many of them nearly square and others oblong, but square corners like a building. Finally we leave the Grand River and follow the winding course of a tributary. Now the scene becomes yet more wildly grand, which we greatly enjoyed. At some past eleven at night we reached the Royal Gorge. Having requested the porter to notify us, we lay down without undressing, and so, blessed with good star light, we were enabled to behold one of the most sublime and awful scenes we ever witnessed in all our travels. Here the almighty hand of God had cleaned a narrow passage through the rocks that tower up thousands of feet on either side. On our left we passed close to the base of the mighty wall; on our right only a small stream by between our track and the awful elevation. This indiscribably awful gorge extended perhaps for two or three miles. We stood upon the platform of the car, at first turning our eyes right and left, beholding in solemn wonder the vertical cliffs that seem almost to touch the stars. Finally we had but to direct our eyes straight up between the two cars and behold, by one straight upward gaze, the cliffs on both sides, as their proud summits seemed to draw together at the tops. As we stood on the platform nearest the rocks, we frequently saw the great peaks leaning directly over our head. We could not refrain from crying out. Oh! Oh! wonderful! wonderful! Never shall we forget that impressive sight. It seems to us as though we have but to make that trip by daylight to be satisfied that nothing more sublimely awful and inspiring, need be looked for amid all the wonders of this creation of God. We would not have missed it for a good deal; and hope it may please God to let our eyes behold the same by daylight.

On the previous afternoon, we passed a freight train that had, the day previous, been wrecked by running upon a heap of earth and rocks, that had broken loose, perhaps a thousand feet up the sloping mountains, and rushing down covered the track. The engine and tender were pitched down the hill, and lay. upside down, under which, alas! the fireman had met his death, or rather, he lay with his limbs crushed beneath the engine for over four hours and expired a short time after taken out.

But as we went thing along under the lofty cliffs, and upon the short curving niches, that were cut out of the solid rocks, sometimes at a height that made one feel giddy to look down, we thought how the strength of the everlasting hills are his, our Father’s, and that His wings over shadowed us by the way: we felt no fears of harm.

Dear Sums: I thought I would report through the Trumpet how we are getting along in spiritual things. We are praising God from the very depth of our hearts. We have just closed a three days’ meeting at Sanders Hill with victory through the blood of Jesus. Three persons saved; four seeking sanctification. There is an opening for a good work to be done there at that place. Praise God forever!

Your brother saved and sanctified through the blood of Jesus,

Dear Saints: May heaven’s richest blessing ever rest upon you all. Since our last report I have been to Covert, and held a few days meeting: and God did work and save some souls. There were seven or eight consecrations. Meeting closed on Sunday evening. We give God the glory for all things, and may the Lord keep each one of the dear saints faithful to the end.

From your saved brother,

Dear Saints: We are still in the battle in this place. The meeting has been going on nearly one month and many souls are being saved and many sanctified, and the interest is growing rapidly. Have large congregations. The people love the GOSPEL TRUMPET. It cuts to the line. Truly the hand of God is in the meeting, and the hearts of the people melt like snow on a warm day.

I would say to those who have been expecting us to come and hold meeting, we well have to disappoint some of you. The Spirit is holding us here. Do not know when we will

close this meeting. Pray for us. I can feel the effects of the prayers of the saints. I feel strong in the mighty living power of my God. I have enjoyed the presence of God greatly in this meeting.

Dear Saints: Its my happy lot and portion to be alone with God to day. And now as I pencil a few thoughts, I pray God to direct in all things. A week ago dear Bro. D. S. Warner was here to preach for us. The weather is now beautiful, clear and warm, sunshine once more; have had much cold, and fain, and foggy, bad weather. The fields are green with wheat and grass for cattle to live upon. Lord willing. I expect to drive up to Drums Valley church to morrow to visit them there; and will give you further results therefrom. Wife and I are residents of this place, and our God has a church here. And at Farmersville a whole family for God there; and a few at Portersville. These places all come under one work or field of labor. Bro. Winters is now at Drums Valley, holding a series of meetings there, which results in much good being done for souls, so I am informed by Bro. B. F. Arnett. I feel led of the Lord to go there tomorrow.

Potterville, Mich., Jan. l6, 1893.

Dear Trumpet Readers, Greeting: May grace abundant be yours through Christ Jesus. Amen. Dec. 19, we left our home in Maple Rapids, went to Banister, Gratiot Co., held four meetings in the school house in Bro. Cook’s neighborhood. The Lord did own the word. Two souls whom the enemy had caused to stumble, reconsecrated and were gloriously set free. We then went to St. Louis and assisted Brother and Sister Walter in a meeting in private houses in the city and surrounding country, which lasted two weeks. The church was much strengthened, and some who had become discouraged took hold on God again by faith and were made to rejoice in a Savior’s love. One dear soul was saved and others confessed the truth. We then came to this place where dear Bro. C. E. Reeves was holding meeting in a hall in Potterville. Will stay as long as the Lord wills, then will go anywhere the Lord opens a door, perhaps southwest to Olivet, Belleview, and so on anywhere the Lord leads, for we are not our own. The dear Lord saves me just now from all sin. Bless his holy name!

Your brother in Christ, saved by the might power of God,

Sweetser, Ind.

Dear Beloved Trumpet Readers: May peace and joy be multiplied unto you all. I left home in company with my brother, E. Bragg to the Burns neighborhood near Greentown, Ind. There met dear Sister Belle Stetler laboring in the gospel at that place. Found the people in a bad condition. The saints had been going to Babylon and helping in their meetings, and with other things they lost their salvation. When the word was preached to them they were all honest enough to go to the altar and confess their sins, and got back to God. They say that they will stay away from Babylon. The most of them got pretty clear in their souls. Pray for the church at that place. We think the meeting was of much good in the way of removing much prejudice which was caused partly by crooked living of them that were professing. Some endorsed the truth; left some under conviction. One man and his wife that were in Babylon, said they wanted to get free; they came to the altar, the man for sanctification and his wife for pardon. The Lord forgave her sins, but the man did not receive the blessing. Sister Stetler expects to go from this place to the neighborhood of Bro. John High’s, a place called Curtisville, Ind. I and my brother expect if it be the Lord’s will to go and help her in the meeting.

May God Bless all The Dear Trumpet Readers Every Where. Amen. We left home Dec. 22d and arrived here the 23d. Was happy to meet with the dear saints at this place. Their faces were sfrange, yet in the Spirit we were brethren. Oh I praise God that his children are one wherever they meet. There were quite a number of saints from other places in attendance, some from quite a distance. We were glad to meet Bro. and Sister Jacobson. The meeting was a success. The Lord blessed us in teaching and preaching his word. Many got settled down deeper and out straight for God, and a few got saved from sin and deception. May God help the dear saints at Henderson to cast all their care upon Jesus; for he careth for you. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion walketh about, seeking whom he may devour; whom resist steadfast in the faith.” “Strive together for the faith of the gospel.” “Yea all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”

The meeting closed last evening. We bade the dear ones at Henderson good bye, expecting to join Bro. and Sister Jacobson this evening at Mechanicsville or Wesley P. O., as they commenced the meeting there about a week ago. We will help them in the meeting there a few days and then if the Lord wills we will go to St. Petersburg about the 25th.

2515 Lafayette Steet, Denver, Col. Jan. 14, 1893.

Dear Saints of God: May great grace abound unto you all. I praise God for his wonderful saving and keeping power. He saves and keeps me from all sin day by day, and I love to do his will. I left home Dec. 20th to join Bro. Willis and found him at Belleville, Kan. from which place we went to Wichita, Kan. and met with the church one night. Had a blessed feast with them, of manna from heaven. Went from there to Arkansas City, Kan. and from there, about six miles north, to Bro. Wm. Gates’s where we held one meeting, and on Lord’s day one meeting in the school-house, with but few out, the weather being quite stormy. The M. E’s were about to commence a meeting to last for some time, and after them the U. B’s, and the Baptists, so they will occupy the time till plowing time; so we thought it best to go farther. We went five miles west of the above city and notified the people that afternoon and had a very fair sized congregation that night in the school house close to Bro. and Sister Annis. It was awful dark at first, but God broke the iceberg of prejudice and unbelief, and conviction began to settle down on quite a number. Some consecrated for pardon and others for sanctification. God is working on many hearts, and spreading the interest in the meetings for miles, and I believe a glorious work will be done by the power of the Highest. May God grant that many dear souls may be completely saved in Jesus, and the church of God established so firmly in the truth that there shall never be any schisms among them. People have been deceived so much in these last few years, that they are cautious about taking the whole truth. Pray much for the work there. I had to come home to attend to some unfinished business, which will take about a week, then I am ready to go forth again in the name and strength of Jesus. It seemed strange that I came home yesterday, and dear Bro. Warner arrived from Cal. to day. O praise the Lord! How I do love to meet the dear saints of God, they are dear to me.

Your unworthy brother in Christ, all on the altar, sanctified wholly,

So. Auburn, Neb., Jan. 15, 1893.

Dear Saints of the Living God: May the Lord bless you all and keep you ever faithful. Amen. This morning I am praising God for full and free salvation, and the sweet peace I have in my soul. I praise him this morning not only that he has saved my soul, but that he is healing my body also. Before I was saved I was sick most the time, and sometimes I had to be in bed for days, and have spent much money for doctors, but they did not do me much good, so that many of my friends thought I would not live much longer. But since God has saved my soul he has touched my body also with his mighty power, and I am gaining in health and strength every day, so that many say, How is it that you look so well now? But I give God all the glory. Now I would like to say to my German brethren in Christ that the Lord is leading me to go out into the work, and proclaim pure gospel, especially to the German people, and I am willing to go where ever he leads me. Hallelujah! I should like to work together with a fully consecrated brother that is able to preach the pure gospel in German. Now I just believe that the Lord will make his own choice. If any one is led of the Lord please write to me at once. O dear brethren, let us be up and doing all we can that our German fellow men may hear this glorious evening light, for there are so many that do not understand English enough to accept it, and there are so many that are led by blind leaders in darkness, and go on to eternity as fast as the wheel of time can carry them. O all that profess to be saints of the Lord let us all do our duty, and work for the salvation of souls. I would like to say that if any one feels led of the Lord to have German meeting, please write to me, and I am willing to go wherever the Lord leads. Now I ask the prayers of all the dear children of God, that the Lord keep me humble, so that he can use me to his own name’s honor and glory, and that I may speak his word in wisdom and boldness. May God send forth more fully consecrated workers for the salvation of souls is my prayer.

Your brother in Christ Jesus, saved and sanctified wholly,

Geo. Vielguth.

Olive Bethel, Ind., Jan. 17, 1893.

Dear Brethren and Saints everywhere: We greet you again in Jesus’ name. We are saved to the uttermost, and the Lord is with us, and the work is moving along in these parts. The meeting at Olive Bethel which began Dec. 15 was a glorious success from beginning to the closing. Many precious souls sought and found relief to their burdened hearts, and praised the Lord for their deliverance. Quite a number of those who had once known the Lord but had been overcome by the enemy were reclaimed and praised the Lord that they were at home once more. We kept no account of the number which came to the Lord during the meeting, but there were seekers at the altar almost every day meeting, some which had never come to the Lord before. We pray God to keep and settle them so they will “never fall.” Amen. Bro’s W. G. Schell and J. N. Howard were present during the first ten days of the meeting, whom the Lord used mightily in measuring all men with the ancient reed. We praise the Lord for the privilege of meeting those dear brethren, and of enjoying their presence at this meeting. We pray God to ever keep them faithful. On the evening of Dec. 25 we held a very precious ordinance service, in which all the saints took part in washing each other’s feet, after which we broke bread and partook of the cup as he hath commanded us saying, that by this we “do show the Lord’s death and suffering till he come.” O the precious moments spent together with God’s elect, how precious to our memory, how sacred to our hearts! We hold them dear until we shall all meet where parting will be o’er. God richly bless our dear Bro’s Schell and Howard with whom we parted that evening. Amen The Lord wonderfully melted all his people together during this meeting, and gave them clear victory. Praise his name forever! There were quite a number of the saints present from Summitville, Bracken, South Bend, Illion and other places, and remained during the greater part of the meeting. May the Lord richly bless and keep them all is our prayer. There was also present at the meeting or at the commencement a lady from Michigan by the name of Walters (not Sister Elizabeth Walter of Gratiot Co.). She claimed to be out free and in unity with God’s people, she also said she had worked with some of the brethren in the field. But the same evening that we reached Rochester she roomed with Sister Cobb, and she breathed out hard, cruel and untrue sayings against God’s chosen ones. She came with us from town to attend the meeting at Bethel, but when God’s word came powerful and straight all the evil spirits in her became aroused and began to cry out in awful fury against God’s people, and in spite of all of our entreaties for her to remain and get good, she took her flight one morning before breakfast on foot for Rochester. And now we understand that she has alighted in Peru, this state, we also have learned that there are some of God’s elect at that place, but we pray God to keep them from her grasp, for this woman is in league with Catholicism and Babylon although she claims to preach and lecture against the same.

We pray God none of the saints will get deceived by this evil spirit and thereby lose the grace of God out of their souls. O let the saints of God everywhere “try the spirits,” “for many false spirits are gone out into the world,” and they are trying to deceive God’s elect. O ye saints of the living God, be watchful, try the spirits and see if they be of God. The Apostle says, “And if one come unto you and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed.” We pray God to keep all of the elect and chosen free and pure, and filled with all the fullness of God continually. Brethren, pray for us that God may keep us humble and doing his will.

Your humble saved brother,

W. B. Grover.

TESTIMONIES.

Thy Testimonies are Wonderful.
Psa. 119:129.

Dear Saints of God: I have been reading some of the saints’ testimonies. I can say that the Lord does save, and sanctifies me just now. The Lord is my burden bearer. Praise his dear name! I love the Trumpet next to the Bible. I do love the real testimonies sent down from heaven. My husband and I and family live about six miles from Webb City. I have not heard any straight preaching since I heard Bro. Warner, when he was there this fall, but praise the Lord, he does give his children the discernment to know who preaches the truth and who is on the compromise.

Dear Saints: How shall we praise His name enough for what he has done, and what he is doing for those that put their trust in him! I cannot have words to express what I do enjoy this evening, as I had been mis-led from the way of truth into the awful confusion of Babylon, where so many are blinded. O I do praise the dear Lord for his people, and that they can in the name of Jesus help one another. I do praise the Lord for freedom in my soul; and he also has healed my body of disease of four years standing, for which I give him all the praise. We have had a glorious feast of fat things in the presence of the Lord since Bro. W. H. Miller and Rosenberry and daughter have been with us. There nave been some honest souls that are willing to take the way their Mister has trod, and we pray that they may be kept from the evils of this world. Pray for me.

Dear Trumpet Readers: I do praise God for free and full salvation in my soul. I am both justified and sanctfied, all on the altar, to do God’s will as he makes it known unto me. I praise the Lord for victory over the world, the flesh and the devil, and for his goodness and mercies that he has bestowed upon me. He has saved me from every thing that is of the devil and has placed my feet upon the solid rock Christ Jesus, where the gates of hell cannot prevail against us. Pray for me that I may be kept humble at his feet.

When I was tossing to and fro,
Knowing not what to do,
Brooding o’er all my sins and woe
He gave me peace.

Not that which by the world is given,
Luring away poor souls from heaven;
But joy in knowing sins forgiven;
He gave me peace.

That perfect peace of God divine,
Which tells me all he has is mine,
O Savior, Lord, what love is thine!
He gave me peace.

Your saved sister,

Dear Saints: May the Lord bless you for his name’s sake. For the glory of God, and the encouragement of his children who have dear ones that are not saved, I will write a short testimony. I am yet saved and praising God for his wonderful love, and manifold blessings unto us. We ask you all and especially those whom we have asked to pray for our husband, to unite with us in praising the Lord for saving our companion and little girl; she is our only child. Oh glory, glory to His name! We feel greatly encouraged and strengthened. To those who have unsaved companions, oh be true to the Lord and his word, and do not doubt his promises, but be encouraged and strong, for the Lord is ever with his people and his ear is opened to their prayer. Pray for us that we may ever be humble and do the whole will of God; and our husband, that he may go on to perfection, which is his desire. May the Lord keep you all true.

Urichsville, O., Jan. 7, 1893.

Sister Clara B. Ramsey, wife of George S. Ramsey, departed this life Sept. 12, 1892. She had been raised and taught the Disciples’ doctrine, but when she heard of the evening light and the pure gospel she renounced her former faith, and accepted Christ in his fullness. The last few months of her life were all calm, and she was always praising God for the evening light. She leaves a husband (no children), a father, one brother and two sisters. May God bless them and save them and prepare them to meet the loved one gone before. The evening before she died a number of God’s little ones met with her and prayed and sang with her, and she manifested the Lord with her by praising God and waving her hands. Truly, blessed are they that die in the Lord. Funeral services were held by the writer, in which God helped us to preach a gospel sermon to the people.

CHAPTER VI.

_____

DRINKING.

_____

THIS, the second inclusive component of this grand theme, is relating to our drinking. What we should drink and when we should drink and what we should not drink. While it may seem of but little importance to the unenlightened mind; yet it is of more vast importance to us all than we are aware of. This part includes water, alcohol in its various forms, coffee, tea, oatmeal.

Water is nature’s kind provision for man, animal and the use of vegetation. It is a pure, wholesome drink. Milk, which constitutes the principal food of the young until the teeth are developed, contains ninety parts of water in a hundred, is properly regarded as food. While water is a pure healthy drink, it has been proven by direct experiments, that those who adopt a regimen exclusively vegetable, and make a large proportion of their food to consist of succulent fruits and watery vegetables, can be healthily sustained and nourished without much water-drinking. It is also certain that those who eat animal flesh, use salt, spices, and greasy edibles freely, which is the custom of present day living, require a larger amount of water to carry off the saline properties, and other impurities, and to alleviate the feverish condition produced by them. I can speak from experience, as under the previous heading, I have not drank anything when eating, for over thirty years, and I have noticed when I eat meat, I am necessitated to drink more water than when I eat vegetable diet; as the flesh requires more salt and contains more ferinaceous matter. Often, after eating. I have worked till the next meal without drinking anything and enjoyed better degree of health than when I had to drink so much. Much drinking of water weakens a person to a certain extent. It is doubtless best, if one is thirsty, to drink one hour or a half before meals, or not until about one hour after eating, from the fact that it dilutes the digestive porperties of the fluids before the functions of digestion is properly commenced, so as not to be hindered. It is, without a doubt, not the best to drink while eating, for the reason previously stated under the head of eating. Therefore, strictly, we should not drink water while eating, as it impairs the digestive powers of the fluids and tends to indigestion and dyspepsia, with all its morbid results. Tepid water drank in the morning; from one half to one hour before breakfast, is harmless and very pleasant to overcome the torpid condition of the bowels. We desire to repeat again, that we should not drink while eating, for it lessons the natural flow of saliva, because the food and mouth is moistened without it; consequently the fluids, containing the digestive properties, are weakened so they are not competent to perform their function, and indigestion is the result and dyspepsia ensues.

ALCOHOL. It seems of little use to deal largely upon this fiendish, venomous, serpent secluding menstrum, that destroys health, inflicts ruin upon the innocent and helpless; it invades the family and social circle, and spreads sadness all around. It produces weakness instead of strength, sickness instead of health. It destroys filial affection, breaks the father’s heart, blights parental hope, and hastens the promising youth, with sorrow, to a premature grave. Some say, it is a good medicine, but ah! dear reader and traveler to to the bar of God, beware! It contains a fiend. It may excite the lurid fancies and promise glory and friends, but “at last it biteth like a serpent and stingeth like an adder.” It has been demonstrated that there are no medical properties in it. Far from it. It is a deadly poison. Some drink it in cold weather to keep out the cold, and in warm weather to keep out the heat. What absurdities! Many of the physicians are responsible for this alarming evil. They prescribe, they recommend it to the invalid, to the mother as necessary, preparatory to the duties of motherhood, where she forms the prenatal appetite for the accursed stuff and many other serious forms of disease. It destroys life, excites, exhilerates, maddens the brain, distracts the mind, poisons the system, defiles the blood, destroys usefulness and unfits one for the association of men or angels.

Dr. Trail in his Hydropathic Encyclopedia says, They are poisons, in every sense inimical to the human constitution; in fact, deleterious to to every organized thing in existence, and are produced only from decay, destruction of the products of organized matter. They deserve commemoration only for the mischief they have done, and execration only for the miseries they are now inflicting on the human society. I cannot, however, refrain from uttering a word of lamentation in this place, and express my regret and astonishment that there should be any found, in this enlightened day and country, and among the leaders of mankind, especially among medical men and Christian ministers, who profess to guide the body to health and the soul to heaven.

In about twelve years practice of medicine, I only used liquors in four cases and neither case did as well as those who did not use it; consequently, I declared I never would prescribe it again in any case. It is called a stimulant, but it is more of an excitant and they pronouce it a stimulant because it increases the circulation. But it only provokes an increased action just like you stimulate a midnight robber that stealthily approaches and enters your house. How soon you hurl some convenient missile viciously, that stimulates him to take his sudden exit from the house. Just so is alcohol a stimulant. It is an enemy to the system that has entered the citadel. (the body) the chief officer (the brain) being notified of the fact through the medium of the nervous system, arouses the vita force to an increased action to expel the enemy out of his territory, and this increased action they call stimulation. Oh what ignorance! Oh ye doctors of medicine, so called, often rather poison or death vender, what a record will appear against you in that great day! How many, through your advice, have come to a drunkard’s grave, prospects blighted, family broken up and the poor wife, to whom he promised his utter protection, is broken hearted and soon follow the wretched inebriate to a premature end.

It is an evident demonstrated fact that a person in the habit of drinking liquors cannot endure a siege of lung fever, as one who does not drink it, but is more easily rendered, victim to the fever. I would say to the doctors, “Woe to him that putteth the cup to his neighbor’s lips.” And those who advise the man to take it for ailments, woe unto you, for you are laying the temptation before him.

__________

FROM DARKNESS INTO LIGHT.

_____

Dear Beloved Saints of The Most High God: Glory be to his name! I feel led by the Holy Spirit to write my testimony again, for the glory of God. It is wonderful what God has done for me, in taking me out of the sinfulness of this world, and washing me in Jesus’ blood, as white as Snow. Isa. 1:18. I cannot praise God enough for what he has done for me and my family. Jesus came to this earth to save the lost ones from sin. In him we have a refuge. He has made me one of his children, and placed my feet upon the Rock which cannot be shaken when leaven and earth shall pass away. O glory to God for his constant stream of love, coming into my soul! Hallelujah! How good it is to be in Christ and have Christ in us. Paul says, Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you. — 1 Cor. 3:16-17. If we are God’s temple, and his Spirit is in us, so then the Living Fountain is within us. John 4:14.

Christ says, I am the Bread of Life. — Jno. 6:35, 48. We have all the riches of heaven within us. We can eat and drink all the time in our soul and be happy in our Father, for his table is never short of good things, always over-flowing, full of the richest kind of soul food. 0, my beloved, let us come in full faith to the Lord’s table and eat and drink and grow strong, that we may have power to overcome all temptations, the devil and the world, and labor for the Lord while it is yet called to day. It makes my soul happy just to think what we shall be beyond this world. Oh it will be unspeakable when we will reign with him in the shining courts of heaven, through all eternity; no end to it.

The Lord showed me in a vision, at noonday, about eighteen months ago, the fallen condition of sectism — or Babylon. A picture of the whole affair came before me, and their place of worship seemed to sink down, except the roof and steeple, and that was full of holes. Some awful looking human faces were there; some with horns on their heads, others with tusks, were looking through the holes; there were also filthy birds there, some of which were flying about in the air. Some people had been on the roof, on their knees, praying God to save their church. Then the vision passed from me.

Thank God, he has delivered me and my family out of such spiritual confusion, and now are free and complete in Christ alone. Babylon is to day a regular, spiritual hospital, where all kinds of the diseased souls exist. God has only one church, and his children are all one family and all born of God. All one Spirit, one faith, one baptism, one God and father of all, who is above all and through all and in you all. Eph. 4:5, 6. God’s church is not of this world, for his members are not of this world. Christ says, Ye are not of this world, even as I am not of this world. — Jno. 77:16. Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. 1 Jno. 3:13. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. Jno. 15:18, 19. Now there are several hundred different families or sects, in the world, at the present time, that claim to be the church, and God has only one family and his family are all one in Christ Jesus.

Abraham was very much deceived in Sodom’s righteousness. How would it be, at the present time, if God should come and divide the righteous from the unrighteous? Millions and millions will be deceived with their false prophets. Oh, what weeping and gnashing of teeth in all eternity! Jesus says, “Fear not little flock,’’ etc., — Luke 12:32. Glory be to God! There will be a little flock left yet, out of the many. Only a few will be saved, as Christ teaches us. Read Matt. 7:13-14. Many will seek to enter in and shall not be able. Read Luke 13:24. Jesus says, For many are called, but few chosen. — Matt. 22:14. So we see God’s children have always been a little flock, a few chosen out of millions, a remnant. Christ says, many on the broad road to destruction, and few on the narrow way to heaven.

The ungodly say, Ye shall not judge. Paul says, Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world and also the angels? — 1 Cor. 6:2, 3 Tut he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. — 1 Cor. 2:15. Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. — Jno. 7:24. The saints shall try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. — 1 Jno. 4:1. Shall judge the signs of the time: yes, shall prove all things. — 1 Thess. 5:21. All those that have the Holy Spirit, which leads in all truth, will judge a righteous judgment. The ungodly shall not judge for they will condemn themselves, see Rom. 2:1-5, also Matt. 7:1-5; Luke 26:37, 41, 42. The ungodly cannot judge a righteous judgment for the Holy Spirit is not in them which leads into all truth. Their judgment is a false judgment; they call God’s children deceivers, and yet we are true. — 2 Cor. 6:8. Jesus says. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. — Matt. 10:22. See Jno. 15:18- 19; Matt. 5:10-11; 1 Jno. 3:13. We are accused of tearing down the churches [sects]; if they are built on Jesus Christ the Rock, no power on earth can tear them down. But those built on other foundations, the sooner tore down the better. It is the word of God and his power that puts down Babylon. Read Isa. 66:15, 16; Jer. 51:58; Jer. 30:23-24: 2 Thess. 2:8.

Christ said, Observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. — Matt. 28:20. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith I know him and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. — 1 Jno. 2:3, 4. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. — 1 Jno. 5:2, 3. And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. — 2 Jno. 6. If ye love me keep my commandments. — Jno. 14:15. He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me. — Jno. 14:21. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. — Jno. 15:10. The Bible gives us sufficient proof that all ordinances and commandments must be kept. There is no dodging around some of them. They must all be fulfilled to do the Lord’s will. There is therefore no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Christ say’s, I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved. — Jno. 10:9. He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. — Jno. 10:1. Christ is the head of his church. — Heb. 3:6; Col. 1:18; Eph. 5:23-24; Eph. 1:22. He puts each member at his place: for edifying his church, and there is no electioneering or voting. The members are all of one mind and one spirit. Glory be to God, that I can say I am one of his members, saved, sanctified and kept by his power from all sin, unspotted from this world. Pray for me that I may keep humble, and do his will, and meet you all in heaven.

Dear Trumpet Readers: God bless you all is our prayer. I feel it my duty to God to tell you what he has done for us. We were saved about one year ago, but have been living in doubt and fear, hardly knowing what to do, hearing so many different ways: but thank God for his goodness, for sending us light and liberty. We can now praise God for salvation that keeps us all the time. Pray for us that we may always live by the word of God.

Your sister and brother, saved by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Dear Trumpet Readers: May God bless and keep you all. Husband and I were saved about four years ago. But we were hungering and thirsting for more of the precious word of God and a few weeks ago the Lord saw fit to send one of his true children to us. Praise God forever! Through his preaching we were brought to the light and knowledge of the truth. We ask you all to pray for us, as we are in the light, that we may let our light shine that others may be brought to Christ.

Your saved brother and sister,

Henry and Kattie Bell.

Styx, Miss.

Dear Brothers and Sisters: I wish to cast in my testimony on the Lord’s side. I know I am one of his children for I have the assurance in my heart. He speaks sweet peace to my soul. How happy I am to know we have a Savior that saves to the uttermost and cleanses us from all sin and makes us whiter than snow. Oh that blessed happy home where there is no sin or sorrow, and the blessed thought that we shall know each other there! I ask an interest in the prayers of all God’s children that I may continue faithful until the end, that I may wear a crown of righteousness.

Your sister in Christ,

Alice Dutton.
