The Voyage.

_____

My boat was launched on stormy seas,
Mid tempest’s piercing breath;
My life was wrapt in mysteries,
All shrouded o’er with Death.

The breakers dash’d across my bark,
And scatter’d all my hope;
My light grew dim, my way grew dark,
While mem’ry only spoke —

With silv’ry voice she call’d anon
The phantom pleasures o’er,
And bade me dream of these alone —
They mock’d me as before.

The swelling seas roll’d higher still,
The surging waves, more wild;
The heaving waters swept at will
O’er lone and helpless child.

O, God, canst pity me? I cried,
Canst wash the hapless wreck
Ashore, and stay the ebbing tide?
And life with hope bedeck?

Alas, fond hopes! — thrice dead they lay
Within my heart enshrined;
’Too frail, too fair — of earth were they —
Their mem’ries round me twin’d.

These ling’ring recollections woke
A train of doubts and fears,
Which to my heart vain longings spoke,
And fill’d my life with tears.

A spectral host of fancies hold
Came trooping through my mind;
Their joy was false, their smile was cold —
No comfort could I find.

Thus, silent Messengers of Night
All came — a cheerless band —
To give me bliss, to give me light,
But Death was in their hand

The waves were hushed — but one sound broke
Upon my listening ear;
It fill’d my soul, while it awoke
The giant “Grim Despair.”

He held me in his awful grasp
For five long, dreary years;
But joy! O, joy! I’m free at last,
And Christ hath dried my tears.

His gentle love drove phantoms out
And gave me back again —
Not earth-born peace, but heaven-born hope —
For I am saved in Him

He led me sweetly from above
Through sorrow, pain and gloom;
And bade my soul with flowers of love
And faith eternal, bloom.

My barge now nears the other shore
Of Time’s rough, restless sea;
And ocean-crested billows roar
Without, tumultuously;

But cannot touch the peaceful life
All hid away within —
With bright, strong hope my spirit’s rife —
Nor marred by death and sin.

For Christ, my Pilot, with strong hand
Can still the tempest’s breath —
And safe in heaven my soul will land —
He triumphs over Death!

All, all must cross Time’s ocean wave,
Meet billows, shoals, quicksands.
There’s One, clear souls, Whose arm will save
If you’ll obey commands.

He rides upon the shoreless deep
Of vast eternity;
His watchful eye doth vigils keep
O’er all humanity.

He keeps account of all you think,
Of all you do, or say —
Come sail with Him — your ship will sink —
And seek to know His way.

Sit humbly at His blessed feet,
And learn of Him each day;
He’ll guide you with His counsels sweet,
And be your Friend alway.

HOLY CONVERSATION.

>:o:<

BUT as he who hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written be ye holy for I am holy. — 1 Peter 1:15. In our last article, we were enabled to show, by the word of God, that the elect who are to be gathered at our Lord’s second or last coming, to be forever with the Lord, are those who are called or chosen to be holy, or pure. In the above text, Peter speaks first of this holy calling. Then he exhorts us to be, and gives as a reason why, in the same context, a quotation from the ancient scriptures. — Because it is written, etc. By this we can see that a holy God requires holy (perfect, pure) service. God’s law is, “first pure.” Like our perfect example, Christ. We must be “holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners.” — Heb. 7:26. Now as this only is acceptable to God, let us make prayerful search of the written Gospel, to ascertain the full, biblical meaning of “holy conversation.” Sow carefully the Holy Spirit has guided these inspired writers of God’s perfect will, concerning these precious central doctrines, that they may the mere certainly attract the earnest searcher after truth, and lead him on from thought to thought, until all its meaning and beauty opens up to his spiritual understanding! Yes to those who daily heed the command “Hear him,” light increases. Praise God! for it is “sown for the righteous.” Two qualifying words in our text, are calculated to set us to thinking — “All manner” — “all kinds.” Not all tongues — though the injunction, or command is to be heeded and obeyed by every nationality and language. By prayerful searching of the Word of Truth, aided by our competent and common Instructor, the Holy Spirit, we shall find these words mean just this — not words alone, but also our every-day-life acts; all kinds of communication. Me thinks I now hear some awakened one say, “then if this be proved to be the meaning of the command, I am not holy, nor one of God’s elect.” Well, “to the word and testimony;” “for if the Lord build not the house, they labor in vain that build it.” So let us build carefully on the Rock. Read James 3:13 James would have us to understand that the wise (those having Christ) are to manifest (show by their works) a good conversation with meekness and wisdom. Ah! here is the key to so much failing of keeping this command. There is more knowledge of God’s will to-day, than there is of meekness ready to answer to it by heeding, or obeying it. Do not halt here at this text quoted from James, trying to think it too complicated to make a clear point, but let us continue our search, and we will prove to every honest mind that the word conversation, as used here, includes all our acts. Read 2 Peter 3:11, 14, where the word godliness means to be pure, peacable etc.; and then to also be obedient like Him. Jesus commands us to be like Him in denying ourself: for to be godlike we are to closely follow our only and perfect pattern, Christ Jesus our Lord. This thought is confirmed by reading again in 1 Peter 2:11, 12 — “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lust, which war against life soul; having your conversation honest among the gentiles: that they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.” How clearly this is put! And is it not evident that because of the lack of holy conversation on the part of professed followers of Christ, that it is so hard for the faithful few to reach the unsaved? And thus infidelity arises in all forms, on all hands. There is more display of inconsistent conversation compared by the Bible standard, than of good Bible consistent Christian life. So many have never learned the sound speech that cannot be condemned. — Titus 2:8. Many evil things can be said of them because they have not ordered all their ways before God. In Paul’s careful, and inspired instruction to young Timothy, he exhorts him to be an example to believers in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 1 Tim. 4:12. This is a very clear statement, and it is unnecessary to refer to another, as here the Holy Spirit directed the obedient writer to first use the term “word,” showing that the word “conversation” which follows immediately after, conveys to other, and more complete meaning speaking of actions, deeds and works. In the same context and verse he speaks also of the principles or moving, spirit disposition of God’s holy children so that none can fail to see that the meaning of conversation directly applies to every day actions, works and deeds. It is that by which we communicate to others by all our acts the certain knowledge that we have been with Jesus and learned of him; and by which is seen the outward manifestation of our salvation in Christ, making us “a peculiar people” “known and read of all men.” These are the ones to whom was given the promise of “a mouth and wisdom that the world can neither gainsay nor resist” Praise God, may we all be thus empowered. We communicate in various ways by our movements, expression, dress etc., which shows our inner life very plainly. To dress showily and expensively like the world is not according to the self-denying Spirit of Christ, and His written rule.

When Paul tells Timothy to be an example in action, outer life, conversation and word, how would it comport with his instruction for him to put a plug hat on because all the best preachers in the conference wear them. And dress thus for fear of being called a fanatic, an old fogy, stingy, or peculiar. We are to be a peculiar people, known and read of all men. Suppose he would compromise a little and not wear a gold ring, but wear costly cuff buttons, gold watch chain, kid gloves etc., and in order to have his wife look well and draw the better class to his church, he would let her even wear rings, ear pendants. feathers, a gold chain around her neck with a gold ball attached, not large enough to indicate a prison convict, but it does say: Condemned of God. O, what of such Timothies? How shall they save themselves, say nothing of those who hear them? O, Timothy, does this comport well until Paul’s instruction in 1 Tim. 2:9, 10 and 1 Pet. 3:2-5?

O my brothers and sisters, be awakened to the terrible self-deceiving times. “Cry aloud and spare not.” Will God be mocked any more by this age than in Paul’s day? And will we be excusable before him if we fail to constantly, clearly, and faithfully teach what this holy conversation is, both by precept and example, everywhere we go?

THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS.

—@—

“And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication; and upon her forehead was a name written MISTERY BABYLON THE GREAT, MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH;” And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. Here is the discription of Mother Rome, decked in gold and grandeur with her cathedrals and institutions of power. “She sits like a queen and is no widow.” O no, she is no widow for she is married to this world and her indulgent husband furnishes her with apparel, with her gold and jewelry. This mother of harlots has some very rich daughters and grand daughters, and great grand daughters. These you observe are harlots. Old mother Rome is not called a harlot, she is only their Mother, “the desolate hath more children than she that hath a husband.” So the burnt children of mother Rome are increasing faster than her own, but who are these “harlot” daughters? They are the Protestant denominations. The Lutheran church is one, the German reformed is a granddaughter and an offspring of hers. Contracting alliance with the world and following the pride and fashion of her mot her and grand mother, and affecting an organization. Repudiating holiness taking worldly titles such as D. D., and A. B., and the like. Casting out men for preaching holiness being governed by constitutions etc. Has fallen from grace and become a hold for all uncleanness, and wickedness covered over the crimes of some of her ungodly preachers. In a word committing lewdness with the world. Preachers are saturated with Tobacco, whose mouths are. filled with all kinds of filthiness. Such are the grown daughters of Rome to-day. And such is the (so called) church of God to-day. 30. years ago the cry of her preachers were against creeds catechisms and all isms. Now she is in the front rank with the pride-loving fashion-following, professed Christians. Many others of the offspring of old mother Rome have all become harlots following the world. Yours washed in the blood of the lamb.

LIVING WITHOUT SIN.

—:o:—

MANY at the present day claiming salvation say we cannot live without sin; But let us see what God’s Word says in Matt. 7:13, 14: — “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be that go in thereat. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way and few there lie that find it.” So the professer goes on committing sin and making crooked paths, and will of course have to go down through the broad gate to destruction and land their poor souls in hell. For we must take a strait path and a life free from sin, because “strait is the gate and narrow is the way that leadeth to life, and few there he that find it. So it cannot be that the great mass of professors have found it, for their number is great. But God will have none but those who will accept a Bible salvation, and I praise God that there are some that will hear God’s Word, and accept the Bible for their guide, and lay aside all human theories. Now let us see what Christ said when asked a question:

“Then said one unto him. Lord, are there few that be saved? And He said unto them. Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many. I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the Master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saving. Lord, Lord, open unto us; and He shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: then shall ye begin to say. We have eaten and drunk in Thy presence, and Thou hast taught in our streets. But He shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are: depart from me all ye workers of iniquity” — Luke 13:23-27.

I fear that many who profess Godliness and say they cannot live without sin will hear that Scripture ring in their ears when it is too late: for all sin is iniquity in the sight of God. The apostle Paul says: “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal bodies that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.” — Rom. 6:11, 12. Being then made free from sin. ye become the servants of righteousness.” — vr. 18. “For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness; what had ye in those things whereof ye are now ashamed; for the end of these things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” — vr. 20-23.

Oh praise God for the eternal life we have within us, which is Jesus Christ the Son of God. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God that taketh away our sins. I do praise God for the evening Light: for the Word says: “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.” — 1 Jno. 1:7. Not only our out-breaking sins, but from the old Adamic sin, or the old inbred nature which was caused by the fall of Adam; and give us a perfect calmness within. Still some say we cannot live without sin. But let us take the Word again: “And you know the He was manifest to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin.” — 1 John 3:5. “Herein is our love made perfect that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world.” — 1 John 4:17. Now this is the privilege of every one that will square his life by the Word of God. “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifest that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not committ sin; for His seed remaineth in him and he cannot sin because ho is born of God,” — 1 John 3:8, 9, “Now we know that God heareth not sinners, but if any man be a worshipper of God and doeth His will, him he heareth.” — John 9:31. Now let us see what will become of them that do not His will. “When the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His Glory, and before Him shall be gathered all the nations, and He shall separate them one from another as the shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats; and He shall set the sheep on the right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the king say unto them on the right hand, come ye blessed of the Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Then shall He say to them on the left hand, depart from me ye cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. And these shall go sway into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into life eternal.” Matt. 25:31-34. 41, 46. Still with the blessed Word of God before them they go on with what man says and go down to the awful pit of hell, rather than to accept the Word in its purity. Oh! I would to God that poor blinded souls might see and know that nothing but a life that corresponds with the Word of God will do at the judgment bar of God.

“And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” — John 12:47, 48.

May God bless all the dear saints with all spiritual blessings, and let all as saints of the living God, put forth every effort to rescue perishing souls, as we would to rescue a drowning man.

From your humble Bro. at the feet of Jesus.

WHY SHOULD WE COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM.

Dear Brethren Greeting: — May the Lord bless you in your labor of love and truth, and keep you unspotted from the world till he comes.

I feel led to write the answer to the above question which answer I feel the TRUMPET is, raid all christians should be in harmony with.

A few years ago we had an apparent enthusiastic revivalist here in the Methodist church, who, for the love of money left the organization and joined hands with the Baptists, and now has given up the trade and has turned out to be an advertiser for one of the large buisness houses of Buffalo.

Now brethren let us turn to the conference and see the terrible amount of corruption here; thieves and adulterers are among the shepherds; think of it ye blood washed throng. Such is also the case among other denominations. Truly the scriptures must be applied here “while they promise them liberty, themselves are servants of corruption.” Such can also be said of church members. Now the Lord commands us to turn away from such, and be separate, for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness and what communion hath light with darkness? 2. Cor. 6:14. Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch not the unclean thing go ye out from the midst of her; be ye clean that bear the vessels of the Lord. Isa. 5:2. 11. Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together ye that are escaped of the nations, Isa. 45:20. And I will recieve you and will be a father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord almighty. 2 Cor. 7:17.-18. I would like to state that the meetings we held here of late were owned and wonderfully blessed of God in a wondrous manner. I first objected somewhat to the way the GOSPEL TRUMPET advocates but I am convinced now that it is just according to his will.

May the Lord grant a just upbuilding of his Kingdom here. Amen.

LOOKING TO JESUS.

—:o:—

“Looking unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith.” Paul further says: know ye not that Jesus Christ is in you? “say not in thine heart, who shall ascend into heaven; (that is, to bring Christ down from above): Or, who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead)”, behold the word is nigh thee, even in thy heart: I and my father will come in unto him and dwell with him. Some try to cultivate sanctification, and get confused when they hear the word, sanctify, saves me just now, or thy blood cleanses me from all sin this moment, etc. All believing ones say every moment, thy blood cleanses me from all sin. If we walk in the light of inward revelation of Jesus by the Holy Ghost: we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanses us from all sin. Now this, is Jesus, revealed by the holy spirit, and in performing religious duty, and working for souls, all is to be of him. Let us remember he gives the great peace and joy which the world can-not give. It is not by works of our own lest any one should boast, but is by grace through faith. So you see sanctification is received by an act of faith in God, and not by works, struggle, or self culture. Christ is all and in all to us; the same yesterday, today and forever. Ye are called unto liberty, and all prejudice and bondage is done away with, for love is the fulfiling of the law, and he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him. Oh, for that great peace which passeth all understanding and all the affections, thoughts, desires and feeling fresh for God. It is this great peace which flows into the soul, when shut up with him, and holds sweet communion, it sees His smile; it hears His whisper, and thrills with His joy, and rises with an inexpress- able calmness. The things of the world may come up against it, but still it is kept in the midst of them.

Dear reader, do you know what this peace is? have you felt and enjoyed it in your soul. It is a peace flowing from a close and constant dealing with God.

A SPECIAL REQUEST FOR PRAYERS.

>:o:<

Some time ago we made mention of our afflicted child, asking an interest in your prayers, she has been helped of the Lord at different times, but relapsed as often. It is a very serious case; she is only eight years old and is sorely vexed with devils, this cannot, be doubted; it manifests itself in fearful convulsions nearly every day, but if a day intervenes, she is taken with a desperate unmanageable ugliness or hatefulness and gluttony, she is naturally lovely and intelligent. But it seems, evil spirits hold her almost under complete control. We cannot believe this is God’s will, we doctored two years, but have given her over into the hands of God, and expect deliverance. Are there any living in this day that can cast out devils? if so we would like to hear from such. This is an exceedingly pitiful case.

Scores if not hundreds have prayed, for her; there seems to be a trying contest going on, shall not our Christ prevail? Dear saints of God, does this strike any of you to begin to plead with God till victory is won? or to come here in person and proceed as St James directs. Pray that the Lord may lay it upon some one, that his will may be done.

Let all the saints remember little Sarah, of Noble.

BE NOT DECEIVED BY FALSE TEACHERS.

—:o:—

McDonald Mich. March 19, 1889.

Dear Brethren: — I can say to the glory of God this morning that he saves me just now; I am enjoying a complete salvation; I am dead indeed to the world and alive unto God. Glory Hallelujah! there are some in this part of Michigan who claim to be the true saints of God, and yet seem willing to take up with the doctrines of devils, and call it light.

About four weeks ago, one Isaac Gray formerly of Breedsville but now of Lake city came to my house with a man by the name of Daniel Luellyn, claiming to be Gods true ministers. They claimed that God had revealed unto them that all who adhered to the second work of grace were holding to a delusion. They claim they can prove by the scriptures that the apostles were not converted till the day of Pentecost. Companion and I could not endorse any such doctrine, as it was entirely contrary to our experience, and then there is so much in God’s Holy word that goes to show that the disciples were regenerated before the day of Pentecost, and on that day they were sanctified. “And Jesus said unto them verily (truly) I say unto you that ye which have followed (past tense) me in the regeneration, when the son of man shall sit in the throne of glory, ye also shall sit on twelve thrones judging the twelve tribes of Isreal” Matt. 19:28.

In Matt. l0, we learn that Christ called unto him his twelve disciples, gave them their commission and then sent them forth as lambs among wolves. From the 20, verse we understand, that they had God’s spirit, (which sinners cannot have) “for it is not ye that speak but the spirit of your father which speaketh in you.”

Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you: but rather rejoice that your names are written in heaven. Sinners names are not written in heaven. The above quotations are sufficient to prove that the disciples were converted before the day of Pentecost; and now in St John; 17:17. we find Christ praying to the father to sanctify them. “Sanctify them through thy truth, thy word is truth.” For proof that they were sanctified on the day of Pentecost we need only to quote. Acts, 2:1,-4. “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they (the appostles) were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire and it sat upon each of them, and they were filled with the Holy ghost and began to speak with new tongues as the spirit gave them utterance. Your Brother in Christ.

NEWS FROM THE FIELD.

—+o+—

Odon Ind.

My Dear Brethren: — May God wonderfully bless you all. May you know more and more what it means to be consecrated. O praise the Lord for real salvation. We closed meeting the tenth, two miles south of town, with glorious victory for God and holiness. A few made a complete consecration and were sanctified wholly. Others were convicted but would not yield to the mandates of heaven. May God pity poor souls who are awakened by the spirit and then will not yield. Woe unto them, better had they never known the way of salvation than to turn away from the Holy commandments. Some were greatly enraged at the word of God being preached to the people and many threats were made of violence, but our God delivered. Hallelujah to his name. We expect to commence meeting the twelfth, at Cornetsville twelve miles S. W. of here. Let all the saints pray for us. I remain your humble consecrated saved brother built in the church of the living God. Amen and amen.

J. P. Haner.

Luther, Mich., Mar. 15. 1889.

Dearly beloved Saints: — After my visit to Chicago, having received an earnest call from our dearly beloved Bro. Harris, to come to Decatur Mich. feeling it the will of God, I accordingly went and commenced meetings Feb. 24., about a mile from the town, which continued until Mar. 6. with good results; praise the Lord. I have seldom been in a new place where there was such good order in all the meetings and the truth so readily endorsed. A few who had become prejudiced against the true way were enlightened by the truth, I believe that the seed of the gospel was deeply sown in hearts, from which will result a rich harvest of souls in the future. One backslider was fully reclaimed, two consecrated themselves to the Lord, one for santification the other for justification. There were also some cases of healing in the name of the Lord, glory to Jesus, amen. We had a prcious little ordinance meeting, we were desired to stay longer and commence meeting at another school house, but had an engagement and an earnest call to labor near Luther, I felt it my duty to go there, but will return to Decatur as soon as the Lord permits. May God abundantly bless the people; I believe that in and about Decatur will become a glorious field of labor for the Gospel work. At present I am holding meeting 7 miles north east from Luther; good interest is being manifested. I am looking to God to save souls here. Dear saints pray earnestly that God may use me for the salvation of many suds. Your humble Bro, saved and wholly sanctified.

Helena, Mich. Mar. 17.

Dear Saints: — God bless you all and keep you saved and under the blood, is my prayer. I am saved this morning from all sin, and free from sect babylon. Glory to God, for perfect freedom in my soul. I rejoice in God the rock of my salvation, it is a great joy and comfort to my soul to feel that I am saved just now and to know I will bo tomorrow if I keep trusting in Jesus. Bless his name forever. We just closed a meeting of 4 weeks as Clam Lake school house. It is in the town of Forest Home, Antrim Co, there were forty came out on the Lord’s side, free from all sin and babylon; and last Lord’s day three followed the dear. Savior’s footsteps and went down into the river with dear Bro. Sheldon and were buried with Christ in baptism, that like as Christ arose from the dead they might also walk in newness of life. There were some of this number that came out of the Congregational sect and it made the preacher very much stirred up and he tried to prove, that the sect to which he belonged was the church of Jesus Christ and that his little manuel, which he had written himself is founded on the word of God, but he failed God bless and save him is my prayer. He blamed the people because after they got the true word they were not willing to take his word unless he read the word of God to prove his assertions. He said it made him provoked as he stood before the people. God bless him and open his blinded eyes and take the vail from of his heart that he may understand; for he stands in he way; be will neither enter into the kingdom himself nor suffer those that desire, to enter in. O praise the Lord for freedom in my soul, we are now in this town in a new place where holiness has never been I night; the M. E., sect is in here and two of their preachers have attended every night, and one of them in particular has acted very bad; he is in fear of his craft, for he knows it is built on a sandy foundation. O ye blind guides, how can you make laws to live by; and teach poor souls to follow them, when they are deing deceived, and you know that in the last day they will be weighed in the balance and found wanting; it is then we will all stand before the judgment bar of God, and the books will be opened. Then the words of Jesus will judge us. Jesus says: John 12:47, 48, And if any man hear my words, and believe not. I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the words that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. Then why not lay all else aside but Jesus and his word, bless his name. He is my guide, he is a lamp to my feet and a light to my pathway, for he says the path of the just is a shining light that shineth more and more even unto the perfect day. Oh praise the Lord for full and free salvation in my soul and the light of his presence that with me doth continually dwell, glory to his name forever. God bless you all is my earnest prayer. I remain your sister in the love of Jesus, saved and sanctified by the blood of Jesus Christ our Lord. I am redeemed from all sin amen.

Dear Brethren: — I do praise my good Master for His blessings. He has wonderfully assisted me, and fought all my battles in this state, and given me great victory over all my enemies. I have truly had a very hard time, but praise His holy name, through His providential care He gave protection and has been with me all the way through. Bless His holy name! In these two counties are about 75 or 80 in each county who have forsaken all the burdensome laws, and are claiming the holy way, but are very weak yet, and very much destitute of means to live upon.

Dear Brethren: — I am saved and all on the altar. About two months ago we left our home in Gratiot Co. Mich., and started out to work for Jesus. We met with the dear saints at North Eagle, and had a good time. The church was in good working order, and filled with power. Next we held a meeting at Olivet, for three weeks, giving them the words of eternal truth in the name of Jesus. Thirteen dear ones came to Jesus, seeking rest; some came for a deeper work of grace and God blessed their souls and gave them witness that the work was done. Brother and Sister Davidson were buried with Christ in baptism by brother Colby. Bro. and sister Colby, sister Todd, and sister Coggins were with us while there; we held an ordinance meeting in which thirteen took part and we had a real Holy Ghost meeting, the Lord giving us souls for our hire. We ate now at Willshire, O., holding the fort in the name of Jesus. Pray for us, and that souls may be saved. Your brother and sister.

Dear Saints: — We commenced meeting Friday, Feb. 22, at the Gnagy schoolhouse five miles southeast of Dysart, Iowa, where we continued seventeen days. Although the roads were very muddy during this time, the house was well filled with earnest congregations throughout the meetings, who seemed to be unusually interested because of the power of God that accompanied the preaching of the Word. Oh how forcibly the words of Jesus in Matt. 9:36-38 have come to us during the past months, as we are out in the service of the Lord of the harvest! May the dear Lord send out more true laborers info His harvest so that the precious blood-bought souls may come to the Shepherd who gave His life for the sheep. We received some severe opposition from the enemy, hut in every conflict we gained a glorious victory. When the devil was driven out of his intrenchments of anti-holiness and sectism, be began his work of vilest slander, and many other false accusations against the saints: but all glory to God! we were enabled to keep right on in the name of Jesus. The truth settled down into many hearts; and some were enabled to come out into this blessed evening light and renounce babylon with all her abominations. The seed has been sown for a bountiful harvest. After closing the meeting at the school house the brethren rented the town hall at Dysart, where we held meetings three evenings. The hall was well filled with earnest listeners who were anxious to hear some new thing. We praise God who enabled us to give them the truth of the everlasting gospel.

On Thursday evening, March 14 the dear saints met at Bro. Wm. Gnagy’s, where we held a precious little ordinance meeting, where the Holy Ghost gave witness unto us, in filling our hearts with glory and praises. There were twelve participants. Two others who were gloriously saved were not permitted to attend because of prejudice. O may God ever keep the dear lambs firm and steadfast unto the end! There are many others at that place who acknowledge the truth, and we believe they will be gathered out of darkness into this blessed light in the near future. May the good work go on. We expect to remain within reach of home for the present, having been show by the

blessed Master that the home field needs cultivation and watering, to which we can cheerfully say “Thy will be done.” We are saved and sanctified, and resting in that blessed hope of Titus 2:13.

Dear Saints: — We left Roanoke last Friday morning for this place, with our hearts full of the power and glory of God, which still flows through our hearts like a mighty river. We remained at Roanoke nearly three weeks. Dear Bro. Gast and companion were with us nearly a week, for which we thank God, but were obliged to return home. We missed them very much, but our God supplied all our needs according to his unlimited fullness. The meeting was one of great depth and power, and God used us in speaking the words of truth and life in soberness; and much good was done. A few souls were saved, and some snatched from the burning wreck of babylon. Glory be to Jesus. Oh what shouts of victory arose from the liberated. Mic. 4:5, “For all people will walk every one in the name of his God, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forevermore.” One sect preacher walked in the name of the W. B. sect; giving glory to the W. B. conference for his salvation saying that if the conference had not sent a man to his place he never would have been saved. Before the close of the meeting we observed the ordinances of the Lord’s house which was a blessed and solemn time to our souls. Thirteen took part and were much blessed. Oh how we thank God for the privilidge of following our Lord’s example in washing the saints feet. Glory to Jesus! We do not know how long we shall remain here. The devil is raging but God is opening up the work. From here we expect to go to Auburn Ind. Pray for us, dear ones that God may give great victory and many souls.

Your saved Bro. and sister, under the blood. Amen.

Dear Saints: — After closing the meeting at Blanco, we came to Francis mill, and had some very precious meetings with the saints. Sister Shelton was sanctified and followed the Lord in baptism, and in the evening we obeyed the Lord in washing the saints feet. 17 engaged in the ordinances.

Last week my son and I went to Pittsburg and had a very precious time with the saints; some of whom I had not met for 4, years. There are a few who are not straight, and many groaning for liberty. Some are anxious to have a tabernacle meeting there this summer. I came back and Bro. Shelton brought our little company by team about 25 miles to Pierce Pa. where we found the people in a rage; we had the promise of the meeting house but the preacher told them to close the meeting house, and also the school-house. But the school-house, was opened and we are humbly trusting God for victory. Pray for us.

Yours in the faith. Saved just now.

Dear Brethren: — God bless you all. We left Atlanta for Chanute, Kan. where we arrived in due time and commenced a meeting Mar. 1, 1889. The congregations were small throughout the meeting.

There were a few saved and sanctified, the most of whom were those that had backslid from a profession of the right way. The church was edified and strengthened, and we believe some of the brethren will go at the work of the Lord with a greater zeal than before, and we hope with better success also. God bless them in their efforts to do good. From Chanute we went to the OtterSprings School-house, six miles south-west of Humboldt, Kan. and held services three evenings. There was good attendance and attention at this place. Bro. Achor remained here and we hope the good Lord will use him in the salvation of many precious souls. From Otter Springs, we came to Meriden where God has set the battle in array, and we are trusting in him for the victory. All pray for us and the cause of God, here in the west.

In our last report of the Akron meeting, should have road two sanctified, instead of ten.

A GLORIOUS VICTORY FOR KING JESUS.

Helena Mich.

Dear Saints: — We are saved and God is with us in mighty saving power. After closing meeting near Ironton we came to the township of Forest Home, in the vicinity of Clam Lake, and began to sound forth the glad notes of salvation. There was a congregational sect had its seat here, but we found quite a number of the captives who were very willing to accept the truth and step out of bondage, which made the carnal priest very uneasy, but notwithstanding all his vain efforts to prop up his unholy manuel, most all of the people of the neighbourhood accepted the truth and more who did not step out then we believe that ere long will do so and be free for God. This preacher ever since we have been here could do nothing but pour out his wrath upon us from the stand; and coming one Lord’s day, to fill his appointment, finding only a handful to hear him, became very much displeased, put his books in his satchel and walked out of the house without preaching. God bless him. Dear Bro. Avrill the class leader of this sect saw, and accepted the light and truth and came out of the winter house; and is praising God for his deliverance. Also one of the trustees stepped out clear and free for God, with a host of others; about forty came out and yielded up to Jesus, and claimed the witness of the spirit to their acceptance with God. There were over eighty consecrations in all. Quite a number of the free Methodists came over from the little villiage of Bellair, a distance of about six miles and attended the meetings, and quite a number of them accepted the truth and were made free in Christ, and are standing straight for God, which very much displeased the F. M. preacher. Hallelujah! though babylon rages we will testify stronger we will shout as her city doth burn. Bless the Lord the truth is marching on. Oh! how can you but see, ye shepherds of babylon that your houses are full of darkness. And no light is there, “no not even the light of a candle shall shine in thee any more; Rev. 18:28.” and still you want to hold souls down with you in darkness, who are aching and hoping for a time to come when they shall feel the light of God in their souls; and when it comes you try to drag them back into darkness. O Lord send out thy light and thy truth and save the people from the darkness of babylon. God bless and save the people for Jesus, sake. On Lord’s day three souls came forward and went down into the river and were immersed by our dear Bro. Sheldon, and the spirit of God bore witness with theirs, that the ordinance was of God. God bless and keep them all faithful unto the end for Jesus sake, Amen. After meeting closed in this place we came to the adjoining town, to hold a few meetings; the M. E. power has its work here; the preachers attended the meetings and said it was the good old Methodist doctrine, and they had preached it for twenty years. But the people in this vicinity had failed to hear them preach it; but when we came down with the word, and showed, the oneness of the church, it touched the M. E. idol in their hearts. And they commenced to rage and cry for their craft. We were told by responsible parties that they came on purpose one evening to disturb the meeting, and when they came in the school-house they were saying glory to God, and holding up their hands in mockery. And during meeting we never saw any sober person conduct themselves so improperly as these preachers did. Some of the M. E. people did not indorse their works and were not afraid to speak their minds freely. God bless and keep them faithful unto the end for Jesus sake. O ye holy watchman who stand upon the waste walls of zion, and can clearly see that the sun is setting in the western sky, lift up your voices like a trumpet and cry aloud, that all may hear the glad Sound and come forth from the misty fogs of babylon and be free. O how we do rejoice at the deliverance of God’s elect from her. “O what golden glory streaming, purer light is coming fast; now in Christ we’ve found a freedom, which eternally shall last.” O bless the Lord and all that is within me; bless his holy name.

Free from babel in the spirit, free lo worship God aright; joy and gladness we’re receiving, O how sweet this evening light.” Free to worship God in the spirit not being bound down by the carnal laws of man, but the children of light are as free as heaven. Hallelujah to God. O ye holy watchmen on zion’s walls, stand fast in this glorious freedom; being free from babel, let us hold fast and preserve this blessed gospel as the apple of the eye, in spite of all the enemy’s rage, and we shall wear the robe and crown forever, and sit down at his right hand and rest forevermore, amen. We do not know how long we shall continue the light here in this place, but as long as God says we shall stay, and then go on our holiness steeds whithersoever be leadeth, amen.

Dear Saints: — I feel that it would be to the glory of God for me to testify through the TRUMPET of his goodness to me. Praise his holy name I am justified and sanctified by the father, and preserved in Jesus Christ and called. Oh I do praise God that he ever called for me, and that he gave me a willing heart to hear and obey the call. Praise God that he opened the way for me to attend the Beaver Dam Camp meeting last summer, and for his great mercy to me. Many have been the battles with satan since then, and many of them fierce and long; but thanks be to God who always causeth us to triumph through our Lord Jesus Christ, glory to his name, he has always brought me out conqueror through him that loved us, and gave himself for us that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him; and who will not permit us to be tempted above that we are able to bear, but will with the temptation make a way of escape, and who is faithful, who will keep us from evil. And how surely is his word proved to those who trust in him. I am hoping and praying that the Lord will send some of his fire baptized ministers, here to preach the word that the prejudice in the minds of the people may be broken down and souls saved. I would be so glad if he would send brother Warner and Co. If it is his will: but his will not mine be done. The evening light has never been preached anywhere around here only when brother Longerbone was here last spring and sowed the seed. May God bless all the dear saints everywhere. Your sister saved, sanctified and satisfied; in all the will of God. Pray for me that I may keep humble before God and doing his will in all things.

Dearly Beloved Saints: — We feel led to report once more to the TRUMPET, how the work of the Lord is prospering in these parts. The meeting near Portland Ind. closed with victory on the Lord’s side. A few souls were saved from all sin. Praise the Lord! From here we returned to New Pittsburg, Ind. where we held meeting about one week with the church at that place. We found the little ones there wonderfully filled with the burning fire and love of God. God wonderfully blessed our short stay with them, during which four or five prodigal sinners returned to fathers house, and were adopted once more into his family. We had a wonderful feast. Oh hallelujah to God! One or two meetings beginning in the forenoon, lasted nearly all day; during which the saints ceased not to offer unto God the sacrifice of praise. Heb. 13:15.

Leaping and shouting for joy. Truly the angels in heaven rejoiced with us to see those poor prodigals return home. Luke, 15:7-9.

From there companion and I took train and came to Sidney Ohio, Feb. 27. and were met at the train by Bro. A. J. Fosnight of that vicinity, who conveyed us to New Hampshire, Auglaize Co. Ohio, where we opened fire on the devil’s ranks in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, on the evening of Mar. 2. We found many honest souls there who were starving for the hearing of the word of the Lord. Amos, 8:11-13. Some of them when they heard it accepted it and received full salvation in their souls. Praise the Lord! forever and ever. We continued the meeting for ten days, during which 5 souls were converted and 8 claimed entire sanctification. There is a bright prospect for the success of the redeemers cause, in the near future in those parts. There were other calls not far from there, winch our situations would not permit us to fill when we were there.

We earnestly pray God to send some Holy Ghost minister there quickly, for truly the wheat is ripe to harvest. God has a church there of eight members who are out of babylon, and on the straight Bible line.

They intend to keep up regular prayer meetings in the name of Jesus twice or three times a week.

From there we went to Wood Co. Ohio, and after a short stay there we came to Clark Co. Ohio, which is now our home. We ask all the saints to pray for us and the salvation of souls. Also pray the Lord of the harvest, to send forth more laborers for there are calls in every direction. Yours in Christ, Sanctified wholly.

In Grand Junction, Mich., Feb. 18, 1889 little Nora, age, one year and six months; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Coon, left this world to live with Jesus forever more. The Lord gave her, and the Lord has taken her, blessed he His holy name!

Dear one, sleep, but not forever,
There will be a glorious dawn.
There we’ll meet to part no never,
In the resurrection morn.

When we see a precious blossom
That we tended with much love
Rudely taken from our bosom,
How it draws our heart above.

Round her little grave we linger,
Till the setting sun is low;
Where we laid the sacred treasure,
Nora dear we cherished so.

We shall sleep, but not forever,
In the lone and silent grave;
Blessed be the Lord that taketh,
Blessed be the Lord that gave.

Dear Brethren: — It seems to be the will of God for me to write my testimony. This evening finds me saved, sanctified and satisfied, washed in the blood of Jesus. Glory to God! I praise God for a salvation that saves us from all the sin and confusion of the world, and gives us the victory over every thing that is not of God. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world. Who is he that overeometh the world but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God. See the promises to them that overcome, in Rev. 2:7—11; 3:12-22; 21:7. We are accused by satan, but we overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. Praise the Lord! I know this by experience. We were called by a couple of young men last Monday to pray for them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. So we obeyed the command. Glory to God! they were both healed; not instantaneously, but they both believed the healing was being done. One of the young men says he was called to preach the Gospel, and disobeyed God. Hence bis sickness, which was this: — he could not move his body, nor a foot or hand; only his head. He sat or lay in one position until helped. He was paralyzed all over except his head. I have the witness of the Spirit that God will raise him up. He lives in Baldwin City, Kan. The other young man had the consumption. The whole word of God is food for my soul. If we take anything from it, or add anything to it, the plagues that are written will be added unto us. Praise God the Word tells us “If any be sick among you, let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith shall save the sick”. Praise God! I believe it. Jesus says: You have one that will judge you, the words I have spoken, they shall judge you. His Word is spirit and life. Glory to our God! Dear Brethren: — I feel led of God to write my testimony to the glory of God O I just praise God for a full and free salvation which I have in my soul! Glory to God forever and ever, amen. O I praise God that He ever called after me when I was in sin! I feel that I am saved and sanctified, and kept by the mighty power of God. I know that I am saved because I have the witness that I am the child of God. Dear saints, pray for me, that I may prove faithful till the end. From your saved brother under the blood, ready for the Master’s use

Slater, Wy. Ter., March 19, 1889.

Dear Saints: — Oh what a blessing to usward to know that the Lord prayed for us as well as the apostles! See the 19th and 20th verses of the 17th chapter of St. John (“neither pray I for these a one, but for them also which shall believe in me through their word).

I must testify that I never heard a holiness minister preach, but God be thanked it is the only sound doctrine that can be found in God’s word. I am called to preach; praise God forever! I am not alone. I am crucified and washed in the blood of the Lamb, therefore let us all that are cleansed abstain from sin.

Oh how I do thank God that His grace is sufficient to keep us in the fold of Christ! Dear saints, if our blessed Savior found us in the mire, and is darkness of sin, and lifted u.. out and washed us with the blood that flowed on Calvary, and made us clean, let us, for the sake of Jesus, remain clean, and steadfast in His love, and free from sin, and be sanctified through the truth and Word of God.

Jesus said to His disciples “Now ye are clean.” Oh for the sake of Jesus let us remain clean! Now ye are free; He means free from sin. Oh let us remain free.

Oh blessed be God forever that Jesus can free us from sin and burdens, and the fetters of satan and imps of darkness.

Oh bless the name of Jesus forever and ever! Oh how he loves us when we come to Him! He puts His loving arms around us, and lifts us up out of the depths of sin and darkness, and says now ye are free, go and sin no more. Oh we pray the Father that more men that have a form of religion will ay down the way of popularity and the lusts of this world, and seek after righteousness and holiness, and be sanctified through the grace of God and be saved. Ye men of high degree in this world’s goods, your pride cannot save you Jesus has His eyes upon the meek and lowly. Can we be greater than Jesus? No, no. God be thanked we are pleased to know that Jesus loves us and is willing that we may be where he is and heirs of His kingdom. Oh that we could have the privilege to kiss the feet of Jesus as Mary did in the pharisee’s house while at meal. Oh that we could sprinkle them with our tears as we pour out our thanks to Him for the many unseen blessings and the pity that He has showered upon us. I do thank the father of heaven and earth for this Holy host Religion. Oh to be fully washed and cleansed in the blood of Jesus, and unspotted from the world.

I would to God that I could be blessed with wisdom and language to express the love and mercy that God hath bestowed upon us. May God bless you and keep you holy and free from sin is my prayer.

Pray for me all ye saints, that I may fully discharge my duty as a servant of God. Your brother

I want to say this morning to all the TRUMPET readers that I am still alive with the glory of God in my soul. A few souls were saved, some sanctified, and a number healed. The Lord is doing a great work or His people; yet I see the need of more settling down in many who claim to be wholly sanctified. The soul that is sanctified is all sold out to Jesus for time and eternity. I am saved and sanctified, and doing all I can to have poor lost souls come to Jesus. Yours under the blood just now

DIVINE POWER.

—:o:—

Spiritual love is divine. And love has a wondrous power in it. Ofttimes it will break down the most irresistable force of the human heart. True sympathizing love will gain access to the citadel of the soul, when nothing else can. When you cannot approach a fellow man with a drawn sword, you may meet him in perfect safety, when you come to him in love only. Thus love you see becomes more mighty than the sword.

Therefore, beloved, “let brotherly love continue,” and have its perfect work. Yea let the love of Christ be in you and abound, so shall you become “fruitful unto every good word and work.” For love, pure and faithful love will win its way and cannot successfully be withstood by any human power simply because love has a divine power. “The colored sunset and the starry heavens, the beautiful mountains and the shining Seas, the fragrant woods and the painted flowers, they are not half so beautiful as a soul that is serving Jesus out of love.” Christian love is an emotion from God and is full of strength in vanning souls to Christ. Dearly beloved, therefore, “love one another” and especially love your exalted head and blessed Redeemer even “with a perfect heart and a willing mind.”

To all the Saints Greeting: — I praise God this day for complete victory in my soul. The Lord does sweetly keep me by his grace and helps me to do his will in all things, for my life is hid with Christ in God. Praise the Lord for a safe place of refuge. The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous runneth into it and are safe. I do praise God that I am in the strong tower, the Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear. The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid, we do not trust in the strength of man nor the wisdom of men but in the wisdom which cometh from God. For the wisdom which is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated; full of mercy and good fruits, without, hypocrisy; and the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. The life I now live I live by one Jesus Christ who has saved me from all my sins and cleansed me in his own precious blood. For me to live is Christ, always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus that the life also of, Jesus might be made manifest in our body; for we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. In the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me, he shall set me upon a rock, praise the Lord; that rock is Christ and now shall my head he lifted up above mine enimies round about me therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy. I will sing yea I will sing praises unto the Lord; and it shall come to pass that he that is left in Sion and be that remained! in Jerusalem shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem. Praise God, we have our name written in the Lambs book of life and thereby are made alive in Christ and are built up, a spiritual house an holy priesthood, an holy nation, to oiler up spiritual sacrifices to God even the fruit of our lips. And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of mount scion and upon her assemblies a cloud, and smoke by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night; for upon all the glory shall be a defence. Praise God for the glory which is to be our defence. May all the dear saints see to it that they are in possession of the glory which excelleth. How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious for even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect by reason of the glory that excelleth, for if that which is done away was glorious much more that which remaineth is glorious, but we all with open face, beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord are changed into the same image, from glory to glory, even by the spirit of the Lord. Bless the Lord for such a complete salvation which gives us the divine nature, We bring forth divine fruit therefore we have our fruit unto holiness and the end everlasting life.

My testimony is that I am saved, sanctified and kept by his grace amen. Your Brother under the blood.

Dear Trumpet Readers: — I praise the Lord this morning for salvation full and free. I cm thankful that we have a saviour who is able and also willing to save his people not only from one sin, but from all sin. Praise the Lord! I realize that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses me from all sin. When we present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, we are ready to enter into an experience, which we can recieve nowhere else. By this we are enabled to prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Paul, in his letter to the Thessalonian brethren tells them what this will is, he says: this is the will of God, even your sanctification. God intends that all his children shall have their “whole spirit, and soul, and body presented blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Oh, praise the Lord for the keeping power of his holy spirit. To fall short of this, is to fall short of his righteous will wrought in us. Oh, brethren let us look well to our title to our inheritance which is incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away. Is it sealed by the spirit? is witnessed by the blood of the Saviour? let us see to it, that our consecration is not merely one of the head, but that we have consecrated our every power to the service of the Lord, that our hearts have been active agents in this all important matter. Right here many make a sad mistake. They will go through the form of consceration, at the altar, or elsewhere, but the work has not been a thorough work of the heart, hence they do not recieve the power which they expect, and would have recieved, had there been a complete dying out to self, and sin. Therefore many are led into discouragements and finally go back to the world. I tell you, readers of the TRUMPET, it means something to be wholly sanctified; to be set apart to do the will of God fully; to have him dwelling in us, and reigning in our hearts Have you been convicted for holiness? have you been groaning for this second grace? if so you are in a very healthy condition; you are being led by the spirit; hold on by faith, dear justified soul, and you shall reap if you faint not; his promises are yea and amen to them that believe. May God bless you all by bringing you out, and keeping you all in the way of holiness. Your Brother saved and sanctified.

Dear Saints of God: — I feel it the will of God to write my testimony. Praise God for salvation that keeps me from the snares of the devil. Glory to his name for saving a sinner like me. My happiest days are since I have been fully saved. It is a great blessing to me to testify for my savior. Praise his holy name for ever and ever. I am fully saved and sanctified; through his blood. Amen, your Brother saved in Christ. Pray for me.

Dear Saints: — I praise God for this evening light, and for this everlasting salvation that I enjoy in my soul just now; and in our trials and troubles I can praise God. I am on the straight road to heaven. I was at one time one of the worst enemies the saints of God had, but I praise God that He has removed the scales from my eyes, and now I can see clearly. I can badly wait till the time for the TRUMPET to come from one time to the other, so as to hear from the dear saints. Dear ones, it is our duty to visit among the saints, and hold Holy Ghost meetings; especially where the Church is weak. We are not very strong in numbers, but praise God! we are strong in faith. Oh glory be to Jesus forever and evermore. Praise God! I am willing to do whatever God wants me to do. I have given up every thing to God and let Him lead me in the paths of righteousness.

From your Bro. saved and sanctified by the blood of Jesus.

Dear Brethren: — I praise God to-day for salvation that saves me from all sin. “I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live: yet not I, but Christ liveth in me, and the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who gave Himself for me.” The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusteth in Him and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth, and with my song will I praise Him, Now know I that He saveth His anointed; He will hear him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. I do glorify God to-day for His keeping power over us, and I know that when He saves a soul, He is able to keep it from sin, and according to His Word we must live free from sin. When we have all the elements of sin destroyed, we have no desire to commit sin; for His seed remaineth in us and we cannot sin, because we are born of God. I nay God to keep me faithful until the end and make me useful in His vineyard. He has given me some lines that are just the sentiment of of my heart. I am under the blood, sanctified through and through.

The Lord is my shepherd; how sweet to my soul,
He saves me from sin, makes perfectly whole;
I will walk in His ways, His will I will do.
I know by His grace He will carry me through.

The Lord is my helper in time of all need,
And Him I will follow wherever He leads;
I know He will keep me, and teach me His will,
With glory each moment my soul he doth fill.

The Lord is my shepherd, he leads gently along,
Each day and each moment he fills me with song;
I over shall trust him both early and late,
Until I shall pass through the beautiful gate.

The Lord is my refuge, then why should I fear,
He over doth lead by his Spirt so dear,
He guides in all truth by his Spirit of love,
And soon I’ll behold him in heaven above.

Your Sister in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — We are led of the Lord to say that we are yet saved and standing on the sea of glass mingled with fire and blood. We have perfect victory in our souls, and give God all the glory for saving us from all sin. Glory to God forever and ever! Praise God for full and free salvation; and God is able to keep us forever. Glory to God!

Dear Saints of the Most High: — I feel led to write my testimony for the TRUMPET once more and tell of God’s wonderful healing power and goodness to my poor soul. On the first day of Jan. I was taken sick with Diphtheria and suffered very much. On the third, I felt led to follow the command of God’s word in James 5:14. “Is any sick among you let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil, in the name of the Lord;” vr. 15, and the prayer of faith shall save the sick and the Lord shall raise him up.” Oh praise God for this promise, well I done as the word says, and when hands were laid on me for healing, the pain left me and I felt well once more. But still the Canker was in my throat and so the devil thought now was his chance to try to make me believe that it would not be removed; I just told him that was none of his buisness, God would see to that; and said: get thee behind me satan. Well God did see to it and the next day it was all gone and I was once more safe and sound, resting in the arms of Jesus. I am saved from all sin, sanctified and meet for the masters use. Your Brother in Christ.

Dear Saints: — I praise God for a full salvation that saves me to the uttermost, and makes me free from all sin. About a year and a half ago the Lord sanctified my soul, and since then I have lived in faith, and in all the light he has given me. The enemy has often tried to get the advantage of me but the Lord delivers me from all the snares of the wicked one. Praise his holy name forever and ever. The opposition here has been very great, they burned the stand in which we held our meetings; we built another one, and there was still much annoyance; they piled up the seats and burned them, also the stand. The boys were arested for their evil doings and it cost them one hudred and twenty dollars. They found the law did net uphold them in their meanness. We procured a school house where Bro. Clayton held a meeting and three were saved. I give God all the glory, and we know that all things work together for good to them that love the Lord. I can say with a pure heart, that all the enemy has done to me has caused no malice or hatred, but all is peace and joy within and he has led me straight through all the clamor and confusion, for which I praise His name. We had a glorious ordinance meeting here, on the 25 of Dec. The good work is spreading, and we hope many will forsake their sins and be made free in Christ. For twenty years I was in the sect called the church of God; which is a good counterfeit, for it has the name all right; but the members can dress almost as they please, having their hearts full of pride and malice. Praise God, he has delivered me out of the snare of babylon, and made me free and complete in Christ alone, and washed me in the blood of the Lamb. Your brother in Christ.

Dear Saints of God: — May the richest of God’s blessings rest upon you and keep you blameless, walking in the light as He is in the light, is my prayer. To-day finds us saved and rejoicing in the hope of the glory of God. The God that caused light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in my heart, which causes me to rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. My trust is all in the Lord, knowing that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto His trust until that great day. How glad I am that I have been able to see and live in this blessed “evening light;” every day I am growing stronger, and the way grows brighter, and I know my feet are firmly planted upon the solid rock Christ Jesus. Oh dear saints what shall be able to separate us from the love of God? Oh let us be up and doing, let our light be as a city set upon a hill which cannot be hid, and let us put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to quench, all the fiery darts of the wicked; let us fight manfully onward and run with patience the race that is set before us that at last we may have an abundant entrance into the everlasting kingdom of God.

Arise dear saints of God,
And gird your armor on;
March to this holy war;
We’re fighting for a crown.

Though satan doth oppose,
Seems almost to prevail,
Hold fast, God’s promises
Were never known to fail.

Hold fast thy shield of faith,
And victory! victory! cry,
And bless the God above;
Redemption draweth nigh.

Then let us boldly stand,
And fight until we die;
Then each receive a crown,
And reign with Christ on high.

Pray for us that we my be faithful till the end. Your sister in the love of Jesus.

Dear Saints: — I am led to give my testimony for the Lord. Praise God for salvation full and free. Glory to God! I am saved from all sin, all filthiness of the flesh. I was a slave to tobacco, but am now cleansed from that. Praise God forever. The devil has been trying to get in again, but he is kept out by the Holy Ghost. I praise God for saving me from the snares of the devil. I am willing to do God’s will at all times. I am saved and sanctified. Pray for me that I may be kept at the feet of our dear Jesus.

Dear Saints Everywhere, Greeting: — May the love and peace of God be multiplied unto you. I am the Lord’s and ready to do all His will. Many times my way has been pointed out very plainly to me. When we fully trust the Lord, He will open up the way for us in a wonderful manner. Glory to Him who makes the way to easy. Just take everything to God in prayer. The word says: pray always with all prayer and thanksgiving. O, this sweet communion with Jesus our Savior who is always ready to help in every time of need. O dear saints, let us all keep humble, low down at Jesus’ feet. It is the humble that He teaches His ways, and the meek He guides in paths of judgment. I do praise His holy name for what He has done for me; and I feel that He is healing my body. I am still trusting Jesus for everything, both temporal and spiritual. I ask the saints to pray for me that I may continue faithful in the Lord. I am now almost 65 years old, and have never seen the righteous forsaken, or his seed begging bread.

Dear Saints: — I read in James 4:7, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Glory to God! I know the devil cannot hurt us if we resist him; but the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil. Hallelujah! O how I do love to testify for God, and give Him all the glory. I have given all to God. Oh how happy I feel when I have the testimony and witness of pleasing God. What glory fills my soul; and what willingness to do His will. I am still deaf, but have a hope that the Lord will heal me of my deafness when He wills to do so. And I ask all the saints to pray for me. God’s will be done, not mine. Praise His holy name forever! I love to read what God is doing for His saints. The TRUMPET has done me much good. O how I thank God that it was sent here. I have yielded all to God. Praise His holy name! The Lord is doing great things for me.

“Creatures no more divide my choice,
I bid them all depart;
His name, His love, His gracious voice.
Have fixed my roving heart.

“Free! free!! free!!!
I am from sin set free!
This world has now no charms for me,
For Christ hath set me free!”

Your sister saved to the uttermost.

Dear Brethren: — I praise the Lord that He has used me as an instrument to testify to His goodness, and that He keeps me continually filled with His love. When we are brought before rulers for Christ’s sake, He gives us answers to speak, and delivers us from all evil. I have been in this good way about a year, and Jesus keeps me in faith and love, free from all sin. Jesus is our physician, and I am His servant. Praise the Lord! Your brother saved and sanctified,

My Dear Brethren: — Praise God for salvation that saves from all sin just now. I am out of all sects and every thing that is not of God, and I have complete victory over the devil. Glory be to God! I praise God for the healing power. He has healed me of all my dieases; I now take Him for my physician, my all and in all.

I am saved and sanctified, doing the will of my Master. He has called me to warn sinners to flee the wrath to come.

Dear Brethren: — I am saved and sanctified and walking in the light of God’s eternal truth. Old things have passed away, behold all things have become new; I see new beauties in the service of my Master every day. The things I once loved I now hate, and the things I once hated I now love. We have been under the Father’s chastening rod for some time. The little Church at Stafford have been tried, but glory to God! we have learned to try the the spirits whether they are of God. We have splended meetings, and God is working. Praise His holy name! The Lord will find us prepared to meet Him in peace in the great day of the resurrection.

Your Bro. saved and sanctified and kept by the power of God.
