OBEY GOD.

-:o:-

“CRY out and shout thou inhabitant of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.” – Isa. 12: 6. If is just as much of a command to shout as “be ye holy for I am holy,” for both come direct from God Himself.

Paul says, “the gifts and callings of God are without repentance.” God who enjoins this obligation upon His people, “be ye holy for I am holy,” also gives us another commandment that is after we are made pure by the blood of Jesus.

“Sing O daughter of Zion, shout O Israel, be glad, and rejoice with all thy heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.” — Zeph. 3:14.

I do positively assert by the Holy Ghost that dwells in my soul, that one is just as much of a command as the other, for both are enjoined by God, upon His people.

Now we can not stand justified before God and be disloyal to any of His commandments God says shout aloud His praises. Man says don’t you do it.

Who shall we obey, God or man? It is evident that we should obey God rather than man. Acts 5; 29. I write this in behalf of all the saints, for many of God’s little ones have felt in the past like shouting the high praises of God, and really knew it to be of God, but quenched the Spirit just because some man or woman who claimed to be saints in the congregation did not like to hear God’s people shout. And by so doing lost their experience, and had to get down and get saved. May God help us to keep our eyes off of man, and en Jesus Christ. Any man that don’t like to hear God’s people shout His praises is actually in his sins, and has not a particle of the love of Christ in him. Dear ones let no one prevent you from obeying God. If you feel that God wants you to shout, or leap for joy, do so; for this is all in God’s order. — Luke 6:23. “Let the saints be joyful in glory — let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two edged sword in their hand.” — Psa. 149:5, 6. “O clap your hands all ye people, shout unto God with the voice of triumph.” — Psa. 47:1. The ungodly and sinners say when they hear God’s people shout, “it is all put on, there is nothing in it.” Paul says, “Now thanks be unto God which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of His knowledge by as in every place.” — 2 Cor. 2; 14. So it is not us, but God in us, “working in us that which is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever Amen. — Heb. 13:21. Some say they do not think God leads more than one at a time to shout in the congregation, and that their words should be distinct and mild, so that every body could understand just what they say. Weil we will see what God says about this matter. “And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the Lord; because He is good. for His mercy endureth forever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.” “But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the lathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy. So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people; for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.” — Ezra 3:11-13. Again some say that we can go to the extreme in shouting the praises of God. Such assertions are of the devil and can not he sustained by the Word of God.

“For as many, as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” — Rom. 8:14. When a child of God is led by the Holy Ghost to shout, when the Holy Ghost stops, he or she stops. “Rejoice evermore” that is at all times.” — 1 These. 5:16.

“Let thy priests he clothed with righteousness: and let thy saints shout for joy.” “I will also clothe her (that is Zion, the Churches,) priests (or ministers) with salvation and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.” – Psalm 132:9-16.

“In God I will praise His Word, In God have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.” — 56:4. For whom the Son makes free is free indeed.”

O dear saints let the Spirit have His way with you; for if not you will loose all your enjoyment, as others have. Let no man stop you of this shouting in the Lord, for God approves of it, and so do His people. “I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving.”

“This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or a bullock that hath horns and hoofs. The humble shall Bee this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.” — Psa. 69:3-23.

THE CARNAL STATE OF MAN.

_____

FOR to be carnally minded is death: but to be Spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. And by searching the Word we find in it, “let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, and if we then have that mind which was in Christ Jesus, and are to be a member of His body, of His flesh and of His bones, we as man, take upon us the Divine nature of Jesus the Christ, and to the carnal minded we can say, the world cannot hate you, but me it hateth, because I testify of if that the works thereof are evil. How will we know that the works of this world are evil? The Word of God says love not the world neither the things that are In the world, if any man love the world the love of the Father is not in him. — 1 John 2:15.

If God commands us to love not the world, nor the things that are in the world, or His love is not in us, how can we continue to partake of the things we do to please the lust of the flesh, and as long as we continue therein we are still acting in disobedience to God, and that brings death. Not death of the old man here, but the death of the soul now and hereafter.

Now I must work the works of Him that sent me while it is day, for the night cometh when no man can work.

The Lord Jesus came to me one Monday morning and awoke me and talked to me in a vision, and commanded me to go and bring the world out of the great darkness, He showed me. It was in the great light I see at this tune, which I can not write now. And then through the.” Word, He gave me a command, “go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you, “and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.”

As I was once in this world I know what belongs to it. I used whiskey, Ale, Beer, wine and tobacco, which all go together, and how can we come to God at the throne of grace with the breath polluted with these things. I must say In the name of my precious Savior, I could not continue in these habits. Now remember 1 John 2:15, any thing of the world.

Some use powder for the face, to please the flesh. O my Father, help them to be contented as thou madest them. Dear reader turn to Isaiah 3:16, 24. Tim. 2: 9, 10. Some use Morphine, some enjoy shows, theaters, festivals, fairs, and it is written “my house shall be called the house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves, and ye will do the last of your father the devil.” Base ball games, wearing culls and gold buttons, pins and studs, linger rings, watch chains, flounced, ruffled and tucked dresses, flowered hats, with dried birds to set them off. “You are not of the world even as I am not of the world” says Christ to His disciples. That which proceeds out of the mouth cometh forth from the heart, and they defile the man. Slang, and telling stories are acainst the Word. Jesus says, believe on the apostles words and follow me. The Apostle Paul writes, “neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting which is not convenient, (consistent) but rather giving of thanks.” I believe on their words, and am following Jesus. And while I do that, none of these things can be found in my life. 1 now live because my life is hid with Christ in God. It is our life that must work with Christ in God. So let us be cleansed from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, which will be done if we truly receive the Spirit of truth in His name, and then we avoid riding on R. R.’s and street cars on the Lord’s day. Let us help others into that rest which is for the people of God. Now if we follow Jesus, His words are sweet to us. “And I saw the holy City New Jerusalem doming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her, husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying behold! the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be. His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God, and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away.” And he that-sat upon the. throne said, “behold, I make all things new, and he said an to me write; for these words are true and faithful, and He said unto me it is done, I am Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things, and “I will be his God and he shall be my son. To all this my soul can truly say Amen! Praise His dear holy name, who through His own precious blood, bought for me eternal life, which I now have. Glory to God! And seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness.

THE BROAD AND THE NARROW WAY.

-:o:-

GOD has given me a vision on this Scripture, “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God. Whosoever therefore will be the friend of the world, is the enemy of God.”

I was brought to the mixed multitude of babylon. The 666, names of blasphemy, are each the “number of a man.”

That is, each sect had a man for its founder, and has some man for its head, instead of “holding Christ the head of the Body, the Church.”

Also on this Scripture, “If the righteous scarcely be saved, where, shall the ungodly and the sinner appear.” Glory to God! I did not mix in with them.

In my vision I was walking along, and picking up some keys, I found by the way. First a small one then a large one. They had all turned black. These keys, the Spirit showed me, represented the holiness people, who have stayed in sect babylon.

The keys were strewn all along the way, first a small one, then a large one near by. When I got to the end of the lane, I wondered what all this should mean. I was directed to go back the same way, and God would show me the filthiness of the mixed multitude of people. And O such a mess of rotten, black, mouldy fruit, and vegatables of all kind, all raized up together, a large heap of if. Some was dried up and black, others rotten, and stinking, and some covered with nasty mould. It was the tastiest heap of stuff I had ever looked upon. But right on top of the pile there lay a beautiful ripe pear, I could not see a blemish upon it. I thought I could save it, and went around to where I could reach it. Taking, great care that my clothes should not touch the pile of filth, I reached over and took the pear; but as I picked it up, lo! it bursted in my hand, and was also rotten within to the very rind. O how awful the truth this brings to our mind. Only spirits of like character remain together. Some who adhere in the pile of rotten babylon, present a fair exterior, but set it down that they are also rotten, if they are at home there.

God showed me that pear represents the professed holiness people In sectism, especially sect holiness editors.

I was then brought back to the great multitude of mixed classes of people. There I saw two roads leading off to my left. One was a great broad road, very pleasing to look upon, for the world. And I saw the mixed multitude of sinners and professors of all kinds, start out on this broad road. Then I saw another road, not as broad as the first, but leading off in the same direction. It also had a great many things on it that were pleasing to the eyes of the people. On this second way were the professed holiness people, who were not pure and “clean escaped.” O my Lord, what a sight! They had just holiness enough to take another road that was leading along side of the broad road, and which must necessarily lead to the same place.

O glory to God! Mow conies in the glory and the beauty of my vision.

A beautiful plain, narrow path, with here and there a traveler. Glory to God! This narrow path was leading to the right, and off from the two broad paths, which together make up the broad way to destruction. I went on the narrow way and I came to a fence. The rails were black, just like the keys that I had found in the lane. Glory be to God! I just leaped over the fence. The broad way was very dark, the narrow way was comparatively light, but not free from shade, until I leaped over the black sect wail. Glory be to God! I leaped right into the glorious light of God, the blazing sunlight of heaven. The broad way inclined downward, and so did the path I was on, until I got beyond, the black fence. Then the blessed narrow way seemed to lead right up to the city of God. It seemed I could see clear up to the throne of God. O how the crystal light and glory of God shone down from the holy City, the whole length of the Celestial way.

There were but a few pilgrims and children on this high and narrow way. Oh hallelujah! I have escaped just in time to save my soul. The Lord had to just kill me out to the professed holiness people. He gave me this vision to show me the rottenness of all the holiness, so called, in babylon. O glory! glory!! be to God! for deliverance from babylon. I am saved, and sanctified wholly to God. I am all packed up for glory and have a through ticket on this narrow way that I saw in the vision. O I warn all who may read this, get all the babylon taint off, lest you should be ensnared in any of the cages of unclean and hateful birds, and sect heaps of rottenness.

FROM FREE METHODISM TO GOD.

—:o:—

DEAR BRETHREN: — And readers of the Trumpet, I feel led to write my experience. Two years next Feb., God found me, a poor sinner, Some time before I was attending Free Methodist meetings, trying to get saved, but could not find Christ there. Could not get relief from the burden of sin and guilt.

Bro. Fisher and companion came here in the name of the Lord. The F. M.’s were holding meetings at the same time, but they had no attendance, all the people went to hear the people of God, who had the Holy Ghost in them. In that meeting there were some 35 or 40, that could testify to salvation. But I, having attended the Free Methodist meetings, had got to be quite a Free Methodist sectishly, but did not have the least bit of the Spirit of God, nor of His salvation. A few weeks before I arose in one of these meetings, and said these words, “Before God, in His fear and under conviction for my sins, I can say I like to see Christians happy, and 1 want to be happy myself. Pray for me that I may get saved,” After the meeting some of them came to me, and said “Guy, did you really mean what you said?” I answered, to be sure I did. Brethren, you can see by this they did not have much salvation themselves, or they would have said, “come now to Jesus, to-day is the day of salvation, now is the accepted time.” For I can say before God, I was in earnest, and convicted for salvation. Well I kept going to meeting, went to their altar two or three times, but they did not seem to be concerned for my soul’s salvation, did not even come and pray, or teach me the way to give myself, to the Lord.

But God’s Spirit did not leave me, I would testify, but only felt the more convicted. I did not know at that time, the difference between the Spirit of conviction, and the Spirit of God as witness to justification. But the Lord still worked with me till Bro. and Sister Fisher came here, and after the meetings at the Free Methodist’s closed, I went to the free meetings of God, where the Spirit of God was, and could be felt.

The first night, as I stepped in the door, and saw the saints of the Living God, full of the Spirit, and their hands uplifted, I said, “that is mesmerism.” But I did not keep that in my mind; for the Spirit began to convict me more and more, and before I left I was persuaded to say, “These arts the people of God.” So the next night £ went, to the Free Methodist’s again, and after meeting was out I went to Brother Fishers meeting again, heard a part of a sermon, and then testimonies and glorious songs of Zion, and then Bro. Fisher said, “how many here want this glorious salvation?” I raised my hand, and the next day I went to prayer meeting, and gave myself to God, hallelujah! and got saved so I could feel it in my soul and body, and the oil of joy from heaven filled my soul, and I could shout and praise God for the first time in my life. While I was at the altar praying, a Free Methodist woman said it is all sham work; but glory to Jesus! it was a work done for eternity. Bless the Lord O my soul! I feel the blessed well of water springing up in my soul, as I write. O praise the Lord forever, for salvation!

The next day I went to another prayer meeting, and heard holiness taught, and the Spirit led me to see that I was not yet fully saved, and that God wanted to sanctify me wholly and give me the Holy Ghost, and power over all the power of the enemy. Glory to Jesus! I found God a God of all power, to do for me all that He has promised in His Word, and He sanctified me wholly; and I have lived without sin ever since.

I did not know before I was saved what God had promised to do, not having been taught to love Jesus, nor read His Word; for my parents were not Christians, my own mother died when I was a small boy, my father was once saved when I was quite young. The Spirit of the Lord was always calling me to give my heart to Him, ever since I came to the years of understanding. But being thrown into all kinds of society, I became quite wild and sinful. But God was merciful, and saved my soul when I repeated and came to Him. Praise His holy name! He has wonderfully saved me, and keeps me by His power, and has called me to preach His Word, and work for Him. Glory to His name for what He has done for me! And dear reader, what He has done for me, He can do for you; for He is no inspector of persons.

Dear brethren, the time is short, and. God wants laborers to go forth, full of faith and the Holy Ghost, but be sure that you are endowed with power from on high. And then you can exhort and teach with boldness, and have complete victory over all the power of the devil, and do all things that God has commanded. Praise the Lord for salvation full and free, and for the mighty power of the Sanctfiyer. Your Brother saved by the blood.

Dear Brethren: — Praise the Lord for victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. He saves me and keeps me every day. I am resting in the cleft once made for me, walking in all the light that shines on my pathway,” Praise the Lord! O how blessed to know that we are saved; to know that we are ready waiting for His coming; ready to be revealed in the last time.

The Lord stilt keeps those that are His in this place, and we have good meetings.

The straight Word hurts some of the Free Methodists, for the truth always hurts those that are in sin. Praise God for His mighty shaking, cleansing, and saving power.

Your Sister in Christ Jesus, saved and sanctified wholly.

NO QUESTION.

A Brother sends us a good, well written article, Reasoning and evidences that the current sects are not saved. But that they are not saved is a fact beyond question.

Hence the article is entirely useless. Would rather do them more honor than anything else. For it would imply that some body some where were blind enough to think they have salvation. Which were extremely absurd. In fact they, themselves make no profession of salvation, and do not want it as long as they live. So we infer from the fact that they only pray for it, “when they come to die.”

NEWS FROM THE FIELD.

-:o:-

Lee, Allogan Co, Mich.

Dear Brethren: — It is glory in my soul this morning, on account of His wonderful love and mercy to me. and for the glorious work He has wrought among the people. Last night closed our protracted effort in this (Johnson) neighborhood, and resulted in the salvation of 31 souls, 21 of whom were sanctified. There were two cases of healing by faith and the laying on of hands. Praise God, these signs do follow them. Still there’s more to follow.

Your Brother saved! saved!

A. B. Palmer.

—:o:—

St Louis, Mich.

Dearly Beloved Brethren in Christ Jesus; grace, peace and mercy from God be multiplied unto you. We are saved and sanctified through the blood of our blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We read your letter yesterday, and it was welcomed with praise to God, who led you to write. All glory to God forever! Hallelujah to His name! The Spirit and the blood now witnesses in my soul.

I would like to see you and talk face to face, but the will of the Lord be done. We as a family are all walking in the Spirit.

I feel led to tell you about the two days meeting with the Borton Church, two weeks ago last Saturday and Lord’s day. The meeting was a success for God. On Saturday one man threw away his watch chain, and another his tobacco, and there was a time of cleaning up. Three converted, one sanctified, three baptized, four had hands laid on for healing, and three of them testified to healing before they left the chair. Two Free Methodists left their sect, and received the truth as it is in Christ Jesus.

On Sabbath eve, we had the Lord’s supper and feet washing, which was glorious. Praise His name! Sixty four engaged in the ordinances, a goodly number of whom had never partaken before. One Catholic, (converted Catholic,) now in the truth.

Then one week ago wife and daughter and I went over to the Church in brother

Drowley’s neighborhood, and there we met a company of believers at the river side. Some were getting sticks to build a fire, while others were breaking the ice, and cleaning a place to baptize. Two followed the foot steps of our dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Both were just new converts, of the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah to God forever! It was one of the best baptismal services we ever saw. The power of God came down till one of the saints on the bank fell down in the snow.

Then we went three miles farther, and held service, and delivered the truth until the sectarians got raging. Glory to God! I can’t tell it all. Praise the Lord!

Raglesville, Lnd.

Dear Brethren: — Grace and mercy be unto you, and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

We had meeting two nights, and the Lord, was with us in mighty power. There are ten or twelve here that claim the second work of grace. We meet twice a week in the name of Christ, and we have good meetings every time, and have the victory over the devil, and all ungodly men.

We are glad Bro. Warner came here last June, arid preached the pure Word to us. We have seen great light in the Bible since he was here. We praise God for such men that come out on Bible truth.

We are cleansed from all sects and creeds of men and of devils. We are saved and sanctified and kept by the power of God. Amen! We would like for Bro. Warner to come back this winter and hold meeting here. We have heard the babylonians say, “I love the M. E. church, looking found and seeing some of the U. B. sect, they would say I love the Brethren church too. But since the true Word has been preached, do not testily such before us. Glory be to God! we have the victory in our souls over all such stuff. Amen! From your brother in Christ.

Wm. L. Montgomery.

-:o:-

Covert, Mich.

Dear Brethren: — We are praising God this morning for victory in our souls. We are on the increase in the grace of God, our souls abound still more and more. O hallelujah to God for victory! Since we came to this, place the devil have assailed us on every hand, but we still have the power over him. Since we came here, there has fifteen sought and obtained the witness to entire sanctification, and four pardon. O praise God! It makes my soul aflame to wield the two edged Sword amongst the enemies of holiness. O hallelujah! He says, “I will give you a mouth and wisdom that none of your enemies can gainsay or resist.” — Luke 21:18.

Praise God! And again, “Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive, of a stammering tongue than thou canst understand.” — Isa. 33:19. Hallelujah! His promises are precious to our souls.

In this little town of Covert there are first the Congregational sect, then the Sabbath school, Free Masons, Oddfellows, Good Templars, Band of Hope, Grand Army of the Republic. All these brand marks of the devil are represented here, and there is more spiritual wickedness in this little place than any other town of twice its size that I ever was in. May God have mercy on the inhabitants. Yet some cry when the angel pours out his vial upon the seat of the beast, and his kingdom is full of darkness. And they gnaw their tongues for pain. I say some will cry love, love, and charity, and some of them that claim to be holy. I say any one that flinches when the hail storm of the Lord Almighty is poured out on babylon, has a tender spot in their hearts for her. O my God kill them out to the beast.

I find that the cry of love, love, comes as a general thing, from the free love devil, or those that are in sympathy with it. O my soul is full of praise to God. But let her cry, God’s judgment is on her, and they can not save her, “let now the as trolagers, the star gazers, the monthly prognosticators stand up and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.” Behold they shall be as stubble, the fire shall bum them, they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame, there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.” – Isa. 47:13, 14.

And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee, and the voice of the Bridegroom and of the Bride shall be heard not more at all in thee.” Rev. 18:23.

By the fifth angel pouring his vial upon the seat of the beast, his kingdom became full of darkness. — Rev. 16:10.

The Bride, or Church move out, hence babylon becomes darkness. But individuals blind, and lame, still continue to dwell continue to live in the dark, and all they can do is to cry to their fellows. The prophet Isa. in 13:21, says, “Satyrs shall dwell there.” A satyr is a fabulous silvan deity, half man, and half goat. So these abominable hypocrites, wolves in sheep’s clothing, spiritual goats instead of sheep, roam in the darkness of sect confusion, and cry to their fellow, or mate. This is fulfilling the words in Isa. 34:14. — “The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the islands, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow.” So these luke warm professors who reside in babylon to-day, and steel themselves against the truth, and deny holiness, cry to, or have fellowship with one in the same condition as themselves. But they can not hinder God’s Word; for He says, “My Word shall not return void.” All of their tirade is fruitless, for God says, “judgment will I also lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet; and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. For they say we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehoods have we hid ourselves.” — Isa. 28:15-17;

Praise God! His Word is like a fire, and hammer that breaketh the rocks to pieces.” Hallelujah! it will search them out, I care not how deep they be laid. His Word will take hold of them. Though they dig into hell, there shall my hand take them, though they climb up to heaven thence will I bring them down.” — Amos 9:2. Honor be unto our God, might and dominion both now and forever more. Amen!

Your Brother in Christ and companion in tribulation, saved through the blood.

Dear Brethren: May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you with all Spiritual blessings in heavenly places.

I feel led to tell the Trumpet readers about my trip to South west Mo. I just returned from a 26 days trip among the dear saints, about St James. God has many peculiar zealous ones in His true Church in and about where I have been, who despise the image of the beast.

Hallelujah! for the stir we had every place where we held forth the Word of life. About 10 souls were justified and sanctified, two acknowledged Jesus in the ordinance of baptism, three were healed physically in answer to prayer, and laying on of hands. I can truly say of the various places where 1 have gone preaching Christ, I never met a more earnest devoted people than these. But while this is so with regard to the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ, there are many adversaries also in these parts. Many holiness haters. Many heretic hunters, themselves heretics, sectarians whose mouths must be stopped by God’s true holiness preaching. “Is not my Word as fire saith the Lord, and as a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces.” Hallelujah! I am determined by the grace of God to breast the storm of sectism, and fight it out on this line, and show the people the time is past for pleasing God by continuing to follow the beast.

I had to preach the Gospel in these parts through much contention, as in all places. So much prejudice against true holiness, and more especially from the M. E. sect. Our meetings aroused that old roaring lion, but hallelujah! the Lion of the Tribe of Judah was more than a match for him. Brethren and Sisters let us be aggressive, let us preach Christ so fully as to give satan and the sects no rest. Let us ever remember our high calling is to preach Scriptural holiness. Let us antagonize sin in or out of the sects wherever it may exist. I intend to return to Eikman’s and Vichy Springs, and Spring Creek, about Christmas if the good Lord permits, to look still more tor the interest of the flock in those parts, and to preach against the damnable heresy of receiving justification and entire sanctification all in conversion. Several holiness people have already been led away by this lie of satan in and around Vichy Springs.

Pray for us, dear brethren and Sisters, that we may always triumph through our Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! Amen!

Dear Brethren: –The Lord bless you. I know He does. He is wonderfully blessing me, and my family, and the saints at this place. Praise His holy name! We. are having glorious good meetings. The seed that was sown is coming forth, bearing grain, glory to Jesus! The Lord works and none can hinder. Last Sabbath we met. at Bro. Leininger’s, and the Lord was with us in powar. The devil came also, but glory be to Jesus! I felt him and knew him the moment he came in. The Lord never baptized me so in all my life, I know He leads His little ones. It was not long until this unclean spirit began to pick and bite. I asked the Lord to open the eyes of the saints, and give them the Spirit to detect the devil; for I felt his presence. I warned the saints not to sympathize with the devil, and rebuked the unclean spirit. This is the first time the Lord ever used me in that line.

I love the work when Jesus sends me forth, for He is all strength. Glory! glory!! to His holy name! He just fills my soul now with glory. After the unclean spirit was silenced, the Lord moved on, in saving souls. Three souls came to the altar for pardon of their sins. The Lord blessed them. Two of them testified to the forgiveness of their sins, and requested the brethren to pray for them, for the Lord has more for them. So He has.

Glory to God for salvation! They were all young men. We are all well, enjoying life and salvation. I saw little Sidney to-day, he is in good health.

My prayer to God is that He will keep you, and send you to us soon. My heart burns with love for all the dear family at Williamston. Your brother saved.

Dear Brethren: — The Lord bless and save you always.

My brother and companion from Minn. are still here laboring for the Lord. Since they came here they have both escaped out of babylon. Hallelujah! we are free in Jesus. O what wonderful meetings we have had since they came. Glory to God!

We held meetings, at Bro. Wm. Bragg’s in Grant Co., and my brother and wife, were sanctified. Praise God! Bro. Wm. is here now full of the Holy Spirit, and of power. We had a wonderful meeting at my house yesterday. My wife has sought the Lord. Glory to God! Last evening we held a meeting in the meeting house. The power of God was there, and several were converted, and one of my enemies and I made peace. Hallelujah! Salvation makes all things right.

Bro Wm. Bragg wants you to come and hold a meeting at his place. He is going to prepare a house on his place for the saints to hold meeting in. Glory to God! I am saved just now, free in Christ and endued with power from on high. Praise God! I am more free in Christ than ever before. The Lord has given me power to rebuke devils, and all the works of darkness. Old babylon is falling. Amen! My Bro. Enos and his wife have a deep experience. She was brought to the point of death, and saw hell opened, before she became willing to take, the narrow way for Jesus. Hallelujah! Pray for us.

Dear Brethren of the Church of the Living God, who are saved by His Mighty power, with an everlasting salvation. Glory to God forever! Amen!

We realize that we are in the time of the gleaning of the Gentiles. A few souls have been gathered in at this place. God has made His Word quick and powerful. The very power of God to them that believe. And fearful ness hath surprised the hypocrites, and the sinners in Zion are afraid. So much so that a number of priests and professors came to the meeting pleading for their craft and their idols. They fought but prevailed not. There is a great stir through Western Pa.. Sectites are greatly disturbed. They resort to secular papers to build refuges of lies. They are denying that I was expelled from (heir sect for preaching holiness. The first trial, they brought a number of accusations, one of which was. “for holding sanctification meetings.” But I was then acquitted. And when they finally expelled me, it was without any charge at all, or trial.

“Babylon is fallen, is fallen, and become a habitation of devils, a hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every hateful and unclean bird.” Glory to God forever! we have escaped out of her, and have the victory over the world and all its religions. Your Bro., pleasing God in all things. Glory to God forever! Amen!

Dear Brethren: May the fullness of the blessing of the Gospel abide with you ever. We are still pressing the battle, in the name and strength of the Lord Jesus. There is great opposion, mostly from professors and priests, and some sinners who have been drinking the wine of the fornication of babylon. Bro., sister, and mother Koonce have been warring a good warfare. They have found quite an army to fight since they have got their names off the sect book here.

The work is still on the increase in interest, the house is to small for the congregations. We had meeting on the street on Monday evening. There were some snowballs thrown. One caught throwing, was Rev. McOlven’s Son, another supposed to have thrown, was preacher Yates. As Bro. Koonce advanced toward 1dm with a lantern, he started to run, the boys after him. He ran into the Winebrennarian preacher factory, and he was soon in spasms. They sent for two physicians; (a sham) to turn the people on their side to get us out of the community. They closed the school-house against us, but the Lord opened another that the sectarians cannot close. There is great opposition against Bro. Koonce. He tells them so much truth, and many facts that they cannot deny, so the people are nearly all turning against the sects. So much so, that babyion has become a hissing and by-word, and they loathe the name. Sectarians are grieviously tormented. We will not with-hold the Sword, and by the strength of the Lord, spare no one. Oh praise the Lord for the wonderful power He gives, to His Word. We expect to continue here another week or longer; we expect a number of subscribers.

The people are still in commotion at Hendersonville. Sister Frost is again able to attend meetings.

Your Bro. saved and with much joy in the Holy Ghost.

Dear Brethren: — And readers of the Trumpet, I praise God this morning tor a full and free salvation. Glory to God for the effulgent rays of His love in my soul. I never made a start to serve God until three weeks ago. I am now (35 years old, my wife is 58. I have used whiskey and tobacco about 50 years. My wife used tobacco 40 years; but glory be to God He has saved and sanctified our souls, and that means cleansing from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit; yes praise His holy name He has taken the appetite for whiskey and tobacce from me. O it is glory in my soul and we’re happy all the time. There have been over 30 souls saved, and a number sanctified, in our neighborhood. Praise the Lord, it is a little heaven here now. It makes happy families.

Dear Trumpet Readers: — May the Lord bless and help you all and especially those who are laboring for our good, in the Trumpet Office. Often my soul has been greatly refreshed while reading the Trumpet, and 1 know it is of God. When I first got hold of the paper there were so many things in it that came right in with my experience: such as being saved to the uttermost or Bible holiness. Then the subject of coming out of these popular churches, of Paul, Appollos, and Cephas, and to be one to stand alone as a member of His Body, the Church of the Firstborn, whose names, are written in heaven, was just what I had experienced some time, amidst great persecution. Thank God!

Also about these perilous times, and the coming of Christ. The paper came as an angel of mercy, to comfort me, just in the right time. I then sent for sample copies, thinking I might, get some to support it, and by so doing lead others into greater light and liberty. But the devil hedged up my way, until just lately some are now about to subscribe.

The devil knows it is a real battering ram against all false teachers, doctrines, errors and superstitions. Wish it was in every home over here, especially the preacher’s. I do not want to say anything unkind or uncharitable, but let every man be a liar, but God speak the truth.

A “Thus saith the Lord,” is written and must be obeyed, or hell is the doom of the majority of preachers if they do not obey and teach the truth. Right from the pulpit, people are taught to be infidels today, and the worst infidelity in these days is what we meet with in those who profess to be of God, but in their works deny Him. What good is the Bible to such as will not obey its precepts, I would like to know? They might just as well throw the Bible away for all the good it is to them. Nice large, beautifully bound Bibles on their parlor tables, but no place for the truth in their hearts. “All this is true and more might be added, but I am tired of the sight, and. turn to God to know from Him what I can do to be useful, as an instrument in His hands to overthrow the works of the devil.

One of my works now for the Lord is to be a regular correspondent to the Trumpet, and do all I can to enlarge its circulation, and if done heartily as unto the Lord, and not unto the creature, will be blessed of God. Brethren and Sisters do all you can to get subscribers for the paper, and you will be doing work for the Lord, if it be only one subscriber. God will bless you in it. Give me an interest in your prayers, for I need them. Your Sister.

Dear Brethren: — I do praise the Lord for salvation that is so full and free. For “whom the Son makes free is free indeed.” Praise the Lord this morning that I am free, and have complete victory in my soul. I praise God for the wonderful goodness and mercy He has bestowed upon me, Glory! glory!! to His name for His keeping power! O I know I am kept by the mighty power of God. I have not met with the saints for nearly two months.

I rejoice that my name is written in the Lamb’s Book of life, and that I am dwelling under the Sun of righteousness, and He is pouring His torrid rays into my soul. Praise His holy name forever and ever! I am saved and sanctified and kept by the power of God, made white and tried. Pray for me. God is wonderfully keeping me. I am living where there are no true ministers of the Gospel, I pray that God may send His ministers to this place. O may God send some of His saints to this place.

I want to tell all the dear saints of God I am standing firm for Jesus, in the midst of the wolves. God has said in His Word that His grace is sufficient. Amen!

Dear editors and Trumpet readers, greeting; and may God bless you with His richest blessing, and ever keep yon true to Him, and on the straight holiness line.

My testimony to-night is, that I am saved and washed in Jesus’ blood. Glory to God! My peace is flowing like a river.

I have been wandering in the wilderness for 30 years, sinning and repenting, and my experience was, “prone to wander. Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love.” But I praise my God front the very bottom of my heart that such is not my experience now.

Three years ago this month I was convicted for a clean heart, and through the mercy of God I was enabled to cross over into Canaan’s happy land, and glory to His holy name, I am delivered from the M. E. pen, and have fled to the city of refuge. Praise the Lord O my soul! and all that is within me praise. His holy name. T cannot express the joy and peace! have in my soul.

Dear Brethren: — Praise the Lord for what He has done for my soul. He saves me to the uttermost from all sects as well as all other sins. I can truly say that I love dearly all of God’s little children, who are free indeed, and I wish to say that I wish Bro. Warner or Bro. Fisher or both would come and hold a meeting for us at Churubusco, or Colins. It looks like everything is going into Spiritual death here.

I think there could be some good done somewhere around here. The sects are getting worse and worse.

Dear Brethren: — I was once a member of the U. B. sect, but she was so poisoned with pride, malice and hypocrisy, that I could not stay with them. She has become the cage of every unclean and hateful bird. This was eight years ago. After that I went back into the world. Last winter, the Methodists came in here and started a revival. I attended all through their meeting and found out that the sect was adulterated with every thing abominable. The preacher was a Free Mason, and I was on the war path against secret societies. After he closed his meeting, I read the Bible until I was under conviction so I could not sleep nights. I had promised God that I would do all that laid in ray power to suppress the works of the devil, supposing secret societies to be the worst. When I saw that the sect was one of the worst, the Spirit of God kept whispering, will you take the Sword and go at it? Will you proclaim the Everlasting Gospel, and work for me?

It whipped me, and beat me out of a weeks sleepy and one Sunday morning I got up and declared in the name of Jesus that I would take up my cross and go to work for my Master. No sooner said than done; my soul was at liberty, my sins forgiven, and I was justified. Praise God! I then had good grounds to go to work on.

About a month after that the saints came here and I was sanctified, and it has been glory glory ever since. I can not praise my Lord enough for my salvation. I am ready to be revealed in the last day.

Your brother, well justified and sanctified.

Ye are my witnesses, says Jesus. A witness implies testimony; if testimony is withheld we are no witness at all. How must we testify to be true witnesses for Jesus? Read the 9th chapter of John, where Christ opened the eyes of the man that was born blind. But the Jews did not believe that he was born blind, until they called his parents, and asked them, “is this your son whom ye say was born blind. How then doth he now see? His parents said we know that this is our son, and that he was born blind; but by what means he now seeth we know not. By those very words they denied Christ more than Peter did, for Peter was afraid of loosing his life; but these were only afraid of being thrown out of church. Read this chapter, and you can see how to be a true witness for Jesus. When Jesus heard that they cast him out, when He found him He said unto him, “dost thou believe on the Son of God? He said, Lord I believe, and worshipped Him, And Jesus said, for judgment am I come into this world, that they which see not might see, and that they which see might be made blind. In the 12th Chap, we find another set of believers among the chief rulers, but because of the pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put. out of the synagogue.

We have plenty of such in these days. Many in our high steeple houses are not any better than the Catholics, even our State Holiness camp meetings last year. They would sing them down, but some would stand up as soon as they quit singing, then would speak again. This year, if one would get over their line the preacher would say be short. If that would not do, another preacher would get up and say, “when this Bro. or Sister gets through we will change the meeting. I told them there was not one holiness preacher on the stand. They said I was judging. I told them I read in the 21th chapter of 1 Cor. of the many different gifts that God gives to His children, and one is the gift of discerning spirits, and the Apostle tells us to try the spirits, whether they are of God, for many false prophets are gone out into the world. If we can not know them, how are we to try them? I told them there was not one soul converted, they said there was one, the old saloon keeper. He rented his saloon to another man. A sister told me she was over to see him, and he reads a chapter every morning and repeats the Lord’s prayer.

Dearly beloved, I am led to tell you how the Lord is leading me. I went, to the Reformed church. The preacher said water baptism was the door to the church and all that did not get in through water baptism were out side. I waited till they were all outside, then told them I did not agree with the preacher that water baptism is the door to the Church, for Christ days I am the door, we must get in through Him, He pays if we try to get in any other way, we are thieves and robbers, well that was all I had to say.

One evening I went into the Meat Market where there were a lot of men sitting. As I stepped in a saloon keeper cried out, here comes Martin, he is a Christian. I stepped up to him and said are you not a Christian? He said, well I do not boast about my religion. I told him David said I will make my boast in the Lord, and the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. But you have nothing to boast about but whiskey, beer and tobacco, you aught to nave your name taken off that class book down there. They did not say a word. I went about my business. I meet such cases every week. Well I feel to say with the poet.

“Hast Thou not said, Who canst not lie,
That I thy law shall keep and do;
Lord I believe, though men deny,
They all are false, but Thou art true.

Your Bro. D. R. Martin.

Dear Brethren: — Peace be unto you, and to all the saints every where, that are chosen from darkness unto light, grafted in the True Vine, and living by every word of God. Hallelujah! I am saved and settled in the true Church of the Living God, and not ignorant of satans devices, which used to carry me about with every wind of doctrine, by the slight of men, and cunning craftiness whereby they lie in wait to deceive. Glory to God, for such complete deliverance from babylon, and as satan can’t lead me astray, he is making a terrible noise out side of the house, but the wicked one toucheth me not, because the Lord has given me the shield of faith to quench all the firey darts of the wicked. My feet are on the solid foundation of the Gospel of peace, willing to observe all the commandments of God, not preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality, but willing to consent to all the wholesome words of Jesus and the Apostles. Sanctified through the truth of God that I may be one with the Father and with His holy Son Jesus Christ.

Glory to God! Jesus has planted in me the well of water springing up into Everlasting Life, and now I am a partaker of the Divine nature, having suffered in the flesh I now cease from sin, dead to sin, and alive unto God, having my fruit unto holiness and the end everlasting life.

Hallelujah to God and the Lamb for ever! Amen! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen!

Bro. Wm. Bragg remained with us over a week, and we had glorious meetings in the name of Jesus. Several in tears, and under conviction. There was lasting good accomplished, and we had calls to come and hold meetings again. We held an ordinance meeting, only six took part, and the Lord did wonderfully bless, and advance us in obedience to these humble commands. Quite a congregation looked on, and were in tears, while we were expounding the Scriptures, and many were convinced, and saw the light. Oh God help them to walk in the light that they may have fellowship with us, and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ come in the fullness of the blessing of the Gospel of Christ. Amen! Your Bro. saved in the blood.

AN EYPERIENCE.

—:o:—

By S. B. Knapp.

DEARLY beloved Brethren in the Lord, grace mercy and peace he with you, and all the dear saints of God, Oh how I love Jesus, bless His holy name forever! Believing that it would be to the glory of God I am led to write some of my experience.

My mother died when I was an infant, I have no recollection of ever seeing my father. My grand parents took care of me until I was in my eighth year. I believe my grandmother was a Christian. She often called me to her and said, “be a good boy and God will take care of you.” Those few words uttered in love, have never left me. They burn yet in my heart, a holy flame of gratitude and love. O  parents, try to say something in love to your dear little ones that will burn into their hearts and bring them to God. I still remember those verses she used to sing.

“Happy soul thy days are ended,
All thy mourning day below;
Go by angel’s wings attended.
To the sight of Jesus go.

Waiting to receive thy spirit,
Lo, the Savior stands above,
Reaching out a crown of merit,
Offers you a crown of love.”

From the time of my earliest recollection I had religious impressions. I often prayed to God to help me to be a good boy. I received a tract when attending Sabbath school, on the healing of Naaman: this had a wonderful effect on my heart, which caused me to cry to God for mercy and pardon. I think I only attended Sabbath school three or four times, and not more than six months day school during eight years that I lived with my uncle, a wealthy farmer. O what an awful account some guardians and parents will have to give for lying and abuse to poor orphan children. My aunt was like a mountain of ice to me. In the 19th year of my age I hired to an infidel to clerk in a country store, to take charge of it.

He said, “now Soloman you must be religious so as to gain custom.” So I thought I  would attend meetings and try to be respectable. Up to this time I don’t think I had heard over six sermons in my life.

The collection was taken, and I gave a half dollar: tins brought very serious thoughts to me, like these. “You have, given that money to help spread the Gospel (o save sinners from sin, why not get saved, and give your self to God, and help with your person, your whole body and mind to lead people from sin to God.

I went to the next meeting to listen to the sermon, and ere I was aware I was bathed in tears, the preacher seemed to tell me all I ever did. His text was, Malt, 11:28. “Come unto me all ye that labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” I went to the altar and after many cries and tears for mercy, Jesus said, ‘”go in peace and sin no more.”‘ I joined the M. E. sect, was very faithful in attending meeting. About this time I was wonderfully impressed to go and preach the Gospel, but I was so incompetent that I dared not mention it to any one. I lived along sinning and repenting. I was once tempted all night to put an end to my existence, the tempter said you are lost, hell is your doom any way. But glory and praise he to God! as the day dawned, the light of hope came to my soul, I obtained full pardon, and lived free from condemnation. Soon after this, being at a camp meeting, as I awoke a voice said, “you must speak for God to-day.” O what a struggle I passed through. I must obey God or be lost, the time came, God opened the way, and I gave all up to Him. He spoke through me for half an hour. Oh, what a heaven filled my breast, melting and refilling my whole being, This caused them to give me license to exhort in the M. E. sect, and subsequently to preach. Souls were brought to God and saved. All this lime I had never heard the doctrine of sanctification preached, and never saw but one person that I now think enjoyed it. As the way was not open tor me to travel in conference, I thought I must not work, until they send me. Though I often felt the Spirit calling me to leave all, and go out to preach. But feeling so weak, I continued to disobey the voice of the Spirit until my power was lost. Forty long years passed away in this awful backslidden state, sleeping and awaking.

A godly formal saint,
I long appeared in sight,
By selt and satan taught to paint,
My tomb, my stature white.

O how I pity the poor backslidden soul. There are thousands of them in the sects to-day. “Having a form of godliness but, denying the power. And God say’s “from such turn away.” O who will obey the call of God, “come, out from among them” and be not partaker of her plagues.

In 1879 I joined the U. B. sect, on the same day was received into the quarterly conference. Then passed an examination and was licensed to preach the Gospel in that sect.

In 1881 my companion died, in ten hours after, my oldest daughter. I trust they are in heaven.

From that time to the present I visited different sects, labored with them, thinking their organizations were right. I joined the Mich. Holiness Association. Experienced the second work of grace — sanctification. Praise the Lord! For the last eight years I have been trying to live a whole hearted Christian, obedient to all the light God gave me.

And now the best of all, I have found a people whose God is the Lord. Who are on the Bible line, and obedient, to all the ordinances of Christ. Even the washing of the saints feet. Praise God forever! “Lifting holy hands without wrath or doubting.”

“Lean see far down the mountain,
Where I wandered weary years,
Often hindered in my journey;
By the ghosts of doubts and fears,

Broken vows and disappointments,
Thickly sprinkled all the way;
But the Spirit led unerring,
To the laud I hold to-day.”

O had some one taken me by the hand, and taught me this blessed holy way of of Gospel freedom many years ago, what years of sorrow and trouble I would have been delivered from. O how much good I might have done, had I known it my privilege to obey the Spirit of God independent of the terrible sect machinery.

Glory to God for freedom in the Spirit of God, to do His holy will. Surely if I should double unto babylon all the sorrow she has caused this heart, I must, deal out to her a bitter portion.

And now as I have formed many acquaintances in different sects, I wish to say to all, I am free from all sects, and cages of deception, from all man-made organizations. Praise the Lord I am a free man in Christ Jesus. Glory! Glory!! be to God on high!

O that all the world might taste and see the riches of His grace.

“The arms of love that compass me,
Would all mankind embrace.”

“Woe is me if I preach not the Gospel.” May God help and strengthen me, in all wisdom and power in the Holy Spirit. Amen!

MY EXPERIENCE.

-:o:-

DEAR readers, I want to tell my experience through the blessed Gospel Trumpet for Jesus’ sake. Praise the Lord for His goodness! O glory to God in the highest! Thirty years ago God, for Christ’s sake pardoned my sins. Yes and I know it, bless God! I lived thirty years in the so called church of God. Ever since I was converted it has been my lot to be some official in that sect. That 30 years was one continual falling down and getting up again. O my God have mercy for Jesus’ sake, upon all that live in such wilderness confusion.

Praise the Lord forever! I finally learned that justification is just the initiatory step into the kingdom of God’s favor. It was after converted several years, before I heard sanctification preached. When sanctification, or Christian perfection was first preached in our community, I went to criticise the doctrine. I have heard sanctification preached ever since, and have opposed it with all my might until last May. God sent sister Benedict from Ft Scott to our place, (Carlton). O glory to Jesus forever! I repeat it to the glory of God, He sent Sister B. to preach salvation to me. Glory to God in the highest! I went to hear her preach. I thought I was awful smart, so I gave her some hard questions as I thought and demanded an answer. Well I just want to tell you that when she answered my questions, ail the props were knocked from under me. Glory to God forever! Praise the Lord O, my soul! I thought if there was any such tiling as sanctification for me, I would like to have it. I sought it with the condition if, yes if it is for me. Bless God, it was not long until the if was gone, and I got terribly in earnest. O glory! glory!! To the Lamb forever. On the 8th day of May about ten o-clock in the day, as I walked along the road, praying to God for sanctification, all of a sudden I began to have such strange feelings. I did not understand it. Such a death like feeling. O it penetrated my whole body. I stopped and said Lord what does this mean?

Glory to God and the Lamb! this sensation passed off, then came another warm wave, O glory to God forever! O what a joy! what a halo of Glory shone around me. Then the blessed Lord began to give me Scriptures, one text after another, then I said this is sanctification. Glory! Glory!! to God in the highest. Oh yes, I shouted glory! glory!!

Well praise the Lord, I am free. Glory to God! free from all sin, and free from sects. I’m all on the altar, bless God! Saved and sanctified wholly by the blood of the Lamb. O bless God! The Lord has called me to preach His Everlasting Gospel, and I am cut on His fire line, sounding the Gospel Trumpet for God’s glory. O bless God! I am all for Jesus, saved and sanctified just now. Pray for me. Your Brother.

HEALED BY THE LORD.

St Johns Mich.

Dear Brethren: — I feel led by the Lord to write my testimony for the glory of God, of His wonderful healing power, through faith in Jesus Christ. At the saints Annual Assembly at Williamston Mich., on the 26th of September, by prayer and the laying on of hands by Bro’s Warner and Speck, I was wonderfully healed by the power of God. I was restored of all my physical infirmities, and my eyesight restored so that I can read fine print without the use of spectacles. I give all the glory to God, for I know He has healed me soul and body. I am saved and sanctified and healed by the power of God, and through the blood of Christ.

I am standing alone here in St Johns. free from all the sects, and kept by the power of God. Praise the Lord forever!

Your sister in Jesus.

Dear Brethren: — The Spirit led me this morning to write to you. I feel to thank God for the great and glorious work that He has done in my soul, and I have no tongue to express my thanks to God for sending Bro. Warner out here last summer. He made every thing so plain to me, that I could not resist the truth; because I knew it was Bible doctrine that he preached. I had been a member of the M. E. sect for several years; but praise God! I never had much of the sectarian spirit in rue, and it was always a great mystery to me why there was so much strife and confusion in the different sects; and they all seem to be striving to get to the same place. It did not seem possible that there would be such wrangling and strife in that better land. But thanks be to God for the glorious work of salvation! The mystery is uncovered. They were serving the sect more than God. O praise God forever and ever! We can all belong to one Church, the only true Church, the Church of God’s own organization. The Church that the gates of hell cannot prevail against; for we are bound up together in one great bundle of love, and “what God has joined together let no man put assunder.” There is a little band of us here in this neighborhood that meet twice a week at our houses, and wherever there is a door opened, and it seems that the Lord blesses us at every meeting, and the devil it seems is trying his best to put us down. We are persecuted on the right and on the left, and our names are cast out as evil, and we are cast out of their synagogues in this vicinity (the Shiloh meeting house) and they have been trying to put us in prison. But none of these things move us, except to build us up stronger in the faith that was once delivered to the saints. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. If God is for us, who can be against us?

I want to tell of a vision I had, not long ago. A Winebrennarian sect preacher was holding a meeting in this vicinity. As I was fixing to retire for the night, I thought to myself, would it be wrong to assist them, in their protracted meeting.

I had not been in bed but a short, time, when it appeared lo me that this preacher was at my house, and he looked of a sad countenance. He told me that he was discouraged. Says I, discouraged already? I told him that we had such good meetings and they were still getting better. I turned and looked around and saw a boy, a youth in appearance, standing by my stove. It seemed like he was frightened and was looking so many different ways, turning his eyes in so many different directions. I thought, that he must be blind, and it seemed like he was about to fall. There was a dark mist in the room, and I reached out my arm to keep him from falling. In a moment I was lifted up, and carried away so gently and easily. It did not seem to be any human, power that was carrying me away. I looked as I started, and saw this Winebrennarian sect preacher falling back in the darkness. Praise God! That taught me a lesson that I should not assist babylon in the least, Oh I have enjoyed such rich blessings since I came out from among them. I feel free from all sectarian spirits, and saved and kept by the power of God. Your sister,

Kezia Harman.

NOTE.

The boy looking every way, represents the darkness, “lo here and lo there,” confusion of babylon, caused by sect preachers. The Winebrennarlans are getting down pretty low when they will not allow God’s holy saints to worship God in their old log house which furnished a shade for the sheep some of the time last summer, one of the doors being off the hinges.

Dear Brethren: — This finds me well and saved; having the evidence of God’s Spirit, and His blessings from day to day. Praise His name! My Savior is becoming more and more precious to me, and at times His presence is manifest beyond discription. Some four weeks ago I saw Him in a revelation which impressed me very much. A friend was with me, who said, come and see, the moon is turning red. I looked and saw it changing from a light to a deep red. I streched forth my hands, and shouted praises to God, rejoicing in another evidence of the fulfillment of prophesy, a token of the near coming of our Lord. While praising thus I saw him descending from the heavens and rapidly approaching me, and in a moment I was caught up in His arms, and borne away. In our flight I awoke. I praise His name that He has condescended to appear to me in the loveliness of His character, clothed with power and in the beauty of His holiness; and that we shall soon see Him face to face, to go no more out forever. May God bless all who are called to be saints, and keep them unspotted from the world clean and white.

Your sister in Christ,

Dear Brethren of the Gospel Trumpet: — Some kind friend sent me one of your papers more than a year ago: I have thought ever since I would send for it, but thought I had not the money to spare. I now write to see if you will be so kind as to send me your paper, if you are still publishing it. I will send the money as soon as I can get it. I feel that I must have your paper.

Dear Brethren: — And all the loved ones every where, greeting. Praise the Lord! May the good Lord bless you with all Spiritual blessings. My testimony is, that the Lord keeps me every moment, saved and sanctified, soul body and spirit, And prepared unto every good work.

Truly the Lord is with His people every where, in mighty signs and wonders in their midst. Surely God’s people are coming back to Mount Zion with songs of everlasting joy. “And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen clean and white; for the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints.” — Rev. 19:8. Hallelujah! Praise God! We have on the robe, and are waiting for the Bride-groom.

Poor sinner you can purchase one of these robes, if you will. Jesus bought them with His own blood. Plunge in and be made white. Hallelujah! Amen!

We send $2.00 for the Trumpet another year, and for two song books. Your Bro.

I. M. Gray.

Dear Brethren: I have been assisting in a revival here. The meeting closed last night after two weeks siege. Nine or ten souls have been hapily converted to God, God’s people quickened, and much good done. If the Lord wills, Bro. Haner and ourself will hold a meeting here on the straight holiness line.

I am glad you are going to answer my questions in Rev. I am hungry for food all the time. I read the Trumpet with great delight, and many things I have been in doubt about, you have made plain.

May God bless you. I do not believe any one but persons free from sects, and sectism, can understand Revelations correctly. It is the obedient, free soul to whom God reveals His deep things. I wish you would send me one of each back number of the Trumpet you have to spare, even two or three years old. I am so hungry for light and. truth, and your articles are doing me great good. I pray for you daily, that God may give you great success in leading souls into the truth. O there are so. many false lights in the world I am glad to know there are some true ones. The willing and obedient shall eat the good of the land. But no one is truly obedient until they come out of the sects; for God says “come out of her my people.”

How I would love to attend one of your meetings. It would be a feast to my soul.

Your Sister sanctified in the all cleansing blood of Christ, and kept by power Divine.

Barkeyville, Pa.

Dear Brethren: — And readers of the Gospel Trumpet, I am led by the Lord to give a little of my testimony. I praise God that I have been redeemed by the all cleansing blood of Jesus, and how wonderfully He has led me out into His marvelous light. O I praise God that I have been delivered from the bondage of babylon sects, the devil and all the powers of hell, and am walking in the glorious liberty of God’s elect, “Whom the Son makes free is free indeed.” Praise His holy name forever and ever! The Almighty to save has led me to surrender all earthly occupation, take up the cross, and follow Christ, whithersoever He leadeth me. Praise His excellent name forever!

I have died out to all earthly friends, and all that is contrary to the holy Word of the Living God. And now the Lord is fitting me up to work, in whatever seemeth best to honor and glorify His holy name. I am settled and grounded in the love of God, till I am willing to live or die, so that His name may be glorified. I will give babylon all the torments of God’s holy Word and Spirit by the power of the Holy Spirit. Praise God! I am now at Barkeyville with some of God’s true children, who are holding meetings, and praise the Almighty to save, we already have the victory in our soul.

Yours in love, saved and sanctified just now. Amen!

Dear Brethren: — We are well, both soul and body, saved and kept by the power of God. Glory to God! I feel His power thrilling through my soul just now.

We had a glorious meeting at Sister Haines in this place, yesterday. It so happened that in our absence the meeting was given out, so we went expecting, some one else to preach; but when we got there we found the work was on us, and as God’s little ones are instant in season and out of season, we poured out hail and fire, mingled with blood, upon old babylon. Praise the Lord!

There were a lot of sectarians there that could not stand the fire, so got up and left, and we had perfect victory.

“Songs of victory ever,
Shall be our hearts delight;
Sing of defeat, no, never,
Sing vict’ry with all our might.”

The captain of the salvation army says he will be there next Lord’s day. He was there a little while last Sabbath, but said he could not stay. Praise God! we think if he comes he will hear something he has never heard. From your Bro. and Sister, saved and wholly sanctified.
