How Readest Thou,

_____

It is one thing to read the Bible through,
Another thing to read, to learn and do.
Some read it with design to learn to read,
But to the subject pay but little heed.
Some read it as their duty once a week,
But no instructions from the Bible seek;
While others read it with but little care,
With no regard to how they read, nor where
Some read it as a history to know
How people lived three thousand years ago
Some read to bring themselves into repute
By showing others how they can dispute;
While others read because their neighbors do,
To see how long ’twill take to read it through.
Some read it for the wonders that are there, —
How David killed a lion and a bear;
While others read it with uncommon care,
Hoping to find some contradiction there.
Some read as though it did not speak to them,
But to the people at Jerusalem.
One reads it as a book of mysteries,
And won’t believe the very thing he sees.
One reads with Father’s speech upon his head,
And sees the thing just as his father did.
Some read to wrangle for their creed, —
Hence understand but little that they read;
For every doctrine in the book they find
To make it suit that all important end.
Some people read, as I have often thought,
To teach the Book instead of being taught
And some there are who read it out of spite —
I fear there are hut few who rend it right.
So many people in these latter days
Have read the Bible in so many ways
That few can tell which system is the best;
For every party contradicts the rest
But read it prayerfully, and you will see.
Though men do contradict, God’s words agree.
For what the early Bible prophets wrote,
We find that Christ and his apostles quote.
So trust no creed that trembles or offends
At any word the blessed Bible sends.

New Years Greeting.

Dearly beloved saints, and fellow participants of the goodness and love of God, and of the riches and glory of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray the dear Lord to bless you with a joyful New Years in the Lord.

Let us truly thank God that our lives have been spared through all the dangers and vicissitudes of another year. O, how our hearts swell with unutterable; gratitude to the great Father of mercies, for his wonderful blessings upon all our souls, and for the enlarged prosperity of his glorious cause in the past year! When we remember from what depths of poverty, through what floods of opposition, and over what mountains of difficulty the Lord has triumphantly brought his present truth; and when we see what a mighty sweep of power it has reached, we feel like falling down in the dust in wonder, and adore the mighty God of truth. Surely our enemies must confess that this work has been wrought in God. The last year especially has been wonderfully blest of God. Many dark corners of this sinful and doomed world have been invaded by the light of heaven, and hundreds, yea, doubtless thousands of souls have escaped out of the darkness of sin; and have passed on to the sublime mountain of God’s holiness. O, let all the redeemed of the Lord join to praise His name, and let our hearts pour out an offering to God, for all his wonderful works to the children of men.

O no year, since the evening light has blest the hearts of men, has it spread like the past. New witnesses have risen up in new fields, and have given vent to their full hearts, in thanks to God for the blessing of full salvation. And multitudes have consecrated their services to the living God, to help carry on this last reformation of hail, fire, and blood. “Many are running to and fro” in the earth, yea, “flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to them that dwell on the earth.” And on the same mission of divine grace, have gone out between eight and sixteen thousand Trumpets per month, and about eight thousand Shining Lights, with many thousand tracts. All glory to the name of Jesus for the manifestation of his mercy and power in the past.

And now brethren, we enter upon another year of time, and with some of us doubtless our labors may end before the year expires. Yea, 1892 may be the last year of this world’s history. Then all the race of humanity that have breathed the air of this sintarnished earth shall have entered the unchangeable destinies of eternity. O, how solemn and awful the thought, that we stand upon the very boundary line between hoary time, and unmeasured duration! In groans, and tears, and haunting fears; in blood and crime and wickedness, this ill-fated planet has rolled its six thousand annual rounds, and the weight of sin upon its bosom will soon sink it beneath the floods of divine wrath. Its awful end is surely nigh. O, what an age we are living in! Heaven and hell have entered the last engagement upon this sin-scarred battle-field and the conflict will rage more and more desperately, until the awful crisis when fire from heaven shall suddenly destroy the fierce Gog and Magog forces that compass the camp of the saints, and the beloved city, upon the face of the whole earth.

What then shall we do, who stand in the light where we see these things and take in the real situation of this world, and its impending doom? In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ we ask, How ought men to live and act with these solemn facts before our eyes? Shall we bow to the sway of that cursed and very popular god-mammon, and join the crazed masses in their frantic pursuit of money, money, wealth and property; and vainly grab for the sordid dust, at the very edge of the fiery lake which shall consume both the golden calf, and all who worship the cursed idol? God forbid! While men should keep good sense upon its throne; avoid the delusions that attend the lie of Millerism, and so provide for the present wants, and within the bonds of reason, the future needs of their house; in the name of God and all reason, we admonish all who expect to meet the returning King of glory, to not “heap treasures together for the last days,” and live in pleasure on the earth, lest, in the awful day of Christ’s coming, the unneeded treasures you have laid up, will be found a curse to your own soul, while its withholding has withheld light that might have resulted in the salvation of immortal souls. And thus, O, dear ones consider this! “The rust of them shall be witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire.” O, that men were wise and would consecrate their gain unto the Lord, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.” For years we have looked with amazement and surprise upon the cold, and almost slumbering neglect of the precious opportunity of devoting means to the work of saving souls. We have cried out to God from the depth of our soul, that he would in some way teach his dear children the preciousness of devoting the Lord’s means to his sacred work. Thank God! there is an apparent advancement in many hearts in this direction, and we think it is quite general.

And yet the charity and benevolence of the primitive church; even down through the corruptions of the third and fourth centuries, puts us all to shame. Then thousands of poor widows and other indigent were supported by the church in a single city. How much more occasion we have to thank God, than they in that degenerating age! O that God may create in his holy remnant a philanthropy in some degree commensurate with the infinite favor bestowed upon us, and a zeal consistent with our high profession! The whole world lies before us, as a field in which to do good. And this is the last chance to help our fallen race. Consecrated men and means must carry the gospel of God to the ends of the earth. God offers infinitely greater interest for the use of means, already his, than any man or firm, more than any business investment. Ten per cent is regarded high interest. One hundred percent cannot be obtained. That would be one fold, or once doubling the principle. At that rate $10, would increase to $20, in one year. But God offers you “an hundred fold,” for all you devote to his cause, with a single eye to his glory. One hundred times $10 would be $1000. And no risks whatever to run. Can it be possible that men really believe that Christ will give all this riches in their bosom, and in their store, when they prefer the lurements of this world? Thank God! some are beginning to credit their blessed Savior’s wonderful inducements, and are showing their faith by their works. Young sisters having saved all their surplus earnings, wisely deposited the same in the bank of heaven, for safe keeping, and sure multiplication.

O how sacred our calling! To us is committed the ministry of the everlasting gospel, which is to gather the elect remnant out of the confused religions of earth. A holy remnant washed in the blood of the Lamb, and clothed in fine linen, dean and white. Even the bride, the Lamb’s wife. The gathering of this remnant, is a fact that stands out in prophecy so conspicuous, that even blind guides see it. Mr. Russel, the teacher of Satan’s age-to-come falsehood, is speculating upon the prophetic announcement. How absurd, that a man who denies that any one is born of God in this age, and knows nothing of present holiness of heart and life, should imagine himself gathering a holy remnant, as described in the Bible! But having believed a lie himself, he can only gather into the same. He not only teaches the soothing falsehood of an age of grace to come, but directly contradicts God by teaching that now is not the accepted time; behold now is not, but in a future age is the day of salvation. And this high priest of falsehood is compassing land and sea to make proselytes to his new deception. Thus it is that Satan always counterfeits the true work of God. But thank God for the genuine, the pure remnant, and bride of Christ.

Therefore saith the Lord God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people: Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the Lord. And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the Lord. — Jer. 23:2-4.

Here we see that God charges upon the unfaithful pastors, the sin of having scattered his flock. And so he does in the awful rebukes of Eze. 34, and in many other places. Then again he says, ver. 3, — “I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries — using the dispersion of the Jews here as a figure — whither I have driven them.”

This representing God as having scattered them, would seem to conflict with the preceeding verse. In several other prophecies we meet with the same statement. The idea is this: God breaks in pieces the corrupt and worldly institutions of man, which they falsely call churches, by the hammer of his word in the hands of his reformers. While preachers scatter and divide the children of God, whom he has called into one body. In other words, God assumes the responsibility of all separation that results from breaking up worldly sects, while he holds false teachers responsible for all divisions in his church. And thus his sheep have been scattered down through the ages. But now God “gathers the remnant of his flock,” and “sets up shepherds over them which shall feed them.” And this he says would be considered in the latter days. — See ver. 20.

This work of gathering was to be by the angels, or messengers, and was to be a sign to the church, that the coming of the the Lord is nigh, even at the door. Matt. 24:31-33. They were to be gathered during the “consumption decreed,” which means, during the fire of holiness. Read Isa. 10:16-27. This consumption overflows with righteousness, and brings out a pure remnant that returns to Mt. Zion — “church of the first born” — and the anointing of the Holy Spirit destroys the yoke of sectism off their neck. And from the standpoint of the consumption, “it is but a very little while until the destruction shall come. We have the same two terms – “consume,” and “destroy,” in 2 Thess. 2:8. First, consume by the fire of holiness, which separates the gold from the dross. Second, “destroyed” by the brightness of his coming. How nigh it is! This corresponds with the statement that Christ is at the door.

This is a holy remnant. “And it came to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem. — Isa. 4:3. Who are to be called holy? Ans. “The escaped.” Namely, all who through the blood of Christ, have escaped out of Babylon. The remnant is at first composed of the “escaped,” the “out-casts,” the called out and the driven out. To which are being “added others,” saved out of the world.

The next verse, Isa.4:4, tells us when this holy remnant shall appear as such. Namely, when the Lord shall have away washed the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning. — Isa. 4:4. It is after God’s people have passed through the Sanctifier, the mighty spirit of judgment and spirit of burning. That is the consumption decreed.

“The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid. Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jesalem.” — Zeph. 3:13, 14.

Here again the remnant is described, as holy, free from iniquity, and rejoicing, with all the heart.

It is a separate remnant. We have seen that they are gathered through the instrumentality of the Lord’s angels, — ministers – and these are represented in Rev. 14:6, as preaching the “everlasting gospel,” i. e., the pure word of God, which “liveth and abideth forever.” They “publish salvation.” — Isa. 52:7. “They see eye to eye,” — Ver. 8. And, as a result of their harmonious ministry, Zion, the church, puts on her strength, — the Holy Spirit; and Jerusalem — also the church — puts on her beautiful garments — holiness. And, “from henceforth there shall no more come into thee, the uncircumcised and the unclean.” — Verse 1. By the same ministry, the same separation is reached in Nahum 1:15.

In this remnant is found salvation. “For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.” — Joel 2:32.

It is to be a persecuted remnant.

And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. — Rev. 12:17.

A fruitful remnant.

In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. — Isa. 4:2.

And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah, shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward. — Isa. 37:31.

It is to be a harmonious and uniform remnant. Many beautiful scriptures portray this fact. But we will only give place to one text. “ Behold I will gather them,” “and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: and I will give them one heart, and one way.” Read Jer. 32:37-41.

We will now trace the growth and triumph of this remnant: “For who hath despised the day of small things?” We find after the “consumption decreed” goes through the forests of Babylon and devours the thorns and briers, “the rest of the trees of the forest shall be few, that a child may write them.” — Isa. 10:10. That is, there are but few in all the folds of sectism who abide the fire of holiness and walk in the light of God.

Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left. — Isa. 24:6.

Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you; and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion; and I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. — Jer. 3:14, 15.

Thank God if there is only one true man or woman in a whole city! “They shall thoroughly glean the remnant,” Jer. 6:9, and bring that one out to stand alone with God. So the scriptural outlook is for a very small yield, as a result of threshing Babylon. See Micah 4:13; Jer. 37:33. But thank the Lord! this remnant is not confined to the few that flee out of the midst of her; for “the Lord God which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, besides those that are gathered unto him.” — Isa. 56:8. For thus saith the Lord: Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O Lord, save thy people, the remnant of Israel. — Jer. 31:7. Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord. — Verse 12. And out of them shall proceed thanksgivings and the voice of them that make merry; and I will MULTIPLY THEM, and they shall NOT BE FEW: I will also glorify them that they shall not be small. — Jer. 30:19. Praise

In ordering free tracts, brethren should always send sufficient change to cover mailing expenses, and be sure and say how many you wish. We desire this because brethren sometimes send 50 or 75 cents and say, Send me some, or a few free tracts. Bro. John E. Smith from Canada desires to come over and labor in Mich. Bro. Clayton also wishes to open up new fields in Pa. and it is much desired that the Lord send a good worker to labor awhile in Canada. We would say that Canada is a good field to labor in. There are precious true saints there. Law is well enforced, and order is good, and many souls are hungry for the true bread of life. Who will go over into the Dominion?

We took the following from a paper a few years ago: “In an M. E. conference of 1824 the bishop, with tremulous ve.., and with deep emotion, said, ‘ I see there is danger of our becoming a fallen church, as we must confess we have left our true standard of Bible holiness for which we were raised up, and if we lower this beautiful banner and trail it in the dust we are a God-forsaken people.’ ”

This has proved to be a true prophecy. Bish. Foster says that “the doctrine of holiness is seldom witnessed to in M. E. pulpits,” and the description that he gives of their corruption, proves them a God-forsaken people.

Another Forward Move.

Dearly Beloved in the Lord: We are sorry … come before you again with financial matters: but we must inform you of the Lord’s gracious leadings, and then we shall hereafter only continue in prayer and supplication unto God, and gratefully report his kind dealings from week to week. Viewing the Lord’s work in every way possible, we can see no way to prosecute the same with our presen press. First, it is not speedy enough to do the printing without much disadvantage, and detention of the whole work. Second, it is not capable of doing first class book work. Our engine is also too small, and we shall have to have a new and larger one, perhaps a boiler also. We have calculated the entire cost as closely as possible, and find that no less than about two thousand dollars will meet the demand, and that only by turning in our old press and engine, which we think we can do, as one good book and paper press will be sufficient, at least for a few years. We have cried unto the Lord, whose servants we are, and the voice of his blessed Spirit is unto us, “Go forward.”

We are happy to report that God has been richly blessing the hearts of his saints with the grace of giving since we began to move out. And the debts that then existed have nearly all been cancelled except the debt on the building, and that has been reduced $100. The dear ones have sent offerings unto the Lord from small amounts up to $130. And every day our hearts have been overwhelmed with gratitude to God. The other night when at a late hour, after a long day’s work, it came to us to divide up the amount, and after an hour’s calculation we arrived at the following plan, which we lay before you in the name of Jesus, and pray the Lord to show all the lovers of his salvation just what class you should place yourself in. One dollar from each subscriber would more than sum up the amount. That would make the paper $2.00 for the first year of the weekly, and not more than the cost of its publication. But as many are poor, we present the above plan that the more favored may help their poor brethren, and all may give as the Lord has prospered them, and as their heart stirs them up to glorify God. Before this paper reaches you, the Lord willing, we shall have visited Chicago, and if suited in a press, shall have purchased. Glory to the name of our God! We are sure he will “supply all our needs through his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Let all saints pray much, and each one do as the Lord leads. If God will, let the preachers, elders, and deacons, stir up the hearts of the children of God in your several localities, and God will bless and reward all who, with willing hearts and hands, help on this mighty work. Amen.

“He healeth our diseases.”

Bay View, Mich.

Dear Saints: I desire to glorify God and encourage others by testifying again to his power to heal. My little daughter Belle who is nearly nine years old has been quite afflicted with Catarrh. She had the usual symptoms of chronic disease. Of late her head was at times pained, the nasal passages were closed, and her breath offensive from the secretion which was constantly forming. I became seriously impressed concerning her: our neighbors also were alarmed at her condition, and thought we should be doing something for her. The Lord has been our physician during recent years and I expected that in his own time he would heal her. The enemy suggested that as the disease was of a serious nature that it would be best to wait for a meeting with the saints so as to have united faith and prayer but I was reminded of the time when Jonathan with his armor-bearer were about to make an attack upon the enemy, that they encouraged each other with these words, “There is no restraint with God whether by many or by few,” and as there were no meetings near us I was led to inquire of God as to his will and his time. So I fasted and prayed inquiringly, and the Spirit gave me the words. It is written, “Let them call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord,” and I saw at once that it was God’s time and this was the order of his will, so on the following Sabbath three weeks ago, there being no elders near us, two sisters with myself came together in Jesus’ name and the dear Lord did graciously manifest himself in our midst. The room was filled with a heavenly sweetness as we poured the oil on the head of the little one and called upon the Master to prove his faithfulness again by stretching forth his hand to heal. The simple faith of the child was ready to claim the finished work, and we rejoice together in another victory. She is healed. Praise God, our great deliverer in every time of need! Dear saints, I sometimes meet with afflicted ones, or who are in doubt or anxiety over certain matters, and hear them say, Oh if I could only know just what God would have me do. One sister wrote me that she would give all the world, as it were, if she could talk with God about five minutes. Dear ones, it is the will of God that we should commune with him directly, whenever the case demands, but in the first place, he is well pleased for us to humble ourselves before him, by making a sacrifice, as holy people have been wont to do in all ages, when they wished to ask special requests from the king himself. Notice the particular form of command which the Master gives with regard to fasting. Matt. 6:17. — “But tho.. when thou fastest, anoint thy head and wash thy face,” and remember that “in the keeping of his commandments there is great reward. Since I have been led in exact obedience in these things, I have forme.. a great advance in my spiritual life and the service of fasting is a precious season to me. Every thin.. seemed hallowed with the divine presence and an impulse of confidence and assurance possesses my so … as I enter the secret chamber. Then is not a circumstance or condition in which we may be placed but that if necessary, God has a certain portion of his written word ready to appropriate to our anxious heart through which he will speak to us either by causing us to open to the special word, or through the mind … the Spirit in prayer, as we listen fo.. the gentle voice to guide us into th.. will of our Lord.

Your sister,

Laborers for the Harvest.

Then saith the Lord unto his disciple. “The harvest truly is plenteous but the … borers are few.” — Matt. 9:37. we could not do this if we had to study all week to write up a sermon. The Lord says, Open thy mouth and I will fill it.

We once heard a preacher say, when the conference sent him out, the exhortation they gave him was this, “Preach Jesus Christ and him crucified, and above all things take up a collection wherever you go.” That is a good representation of Babylon ministers. We will notice what the prophet says concerning this. Isa. 56:9-11. — “His watchmen [or ministers] are blind.” This is the reason they cannot lead people the right, way; because they they cannot see it themselves. They are shepherds that cannot understand; they look 10 their own way every one for his gain from his quarter. The different sects pul their preachers on certain circuits; so they look for gain from their own quarter and not for the salvation of souls. Feeding themselves and not the flock. Eze. 34:8. To prove this let the people stop paying them and see it they will preach. They make merchandise of the people. 2 Pet. 2:3. Oh! if the human race could just see how they are being eaten up by these false shepherds they certainly would support them no longer “Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread?” — Isa. 55:2. Why do you give your money to these blind leaders and get nothing to eat that will satisfy the hungry soul. You are only consoled in your sin and put to sleep until awakened up in eternal misery. But praise God! he is settingup shepherds that will feed the flock. Jer. 23:4. These are the ones that “make the gospel without charge.” — 1 Cor. 9:18.

As the ministers of Christ we should pity the people in darkness, and use no harsh means; they have been deceived by these blind leaders. Matt. 15:14. The ministers have “scattered the sheep and driven them away. — Jer. 23:1, 2. They are the ones to blame, for they are leading souls down to hell. But we must use all meekness toward the people that have been deceived, until they see their error. “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that he will send forth laborers into his harvest” — Matt.9:38.

Praise the Lord! his ministers are running to and fro feeding the flock and preaching the everlasting gospel, and knowledge is being increased concerning Christ and the wonderful salvation he has prepared, until people will have no excuse. They are finding out their covenant with death is disannulled, and their agreement with hell will not stand. Isa. 28:17-20. Their covering is found to be too narrow to cover them when the whole counsel is preached.

Who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the Lord?” — 1 Chron. 29:5. How many are ready to say, “ Here am I, send me,” and we that have sold our all to Jesus, let us draw near with thanksgiving. 2 Chron. 29:31. Work with willing hands; be obedient children, then we we shall eat the good of the land. We will receive abundance in this world and in the end eternal life. Praise God! let us fight with zeal in the battle of our God; for the battle is not ours but God’s, and when this fight of faith is over we know there is a crown of righteousness laid up for us which the righteous judge shall give to us, and all that love his appearing. We always have the victory, glory be to Jesus! because it is the Lord’s battle. He furnishes all supplies, and more than this, we use no carnal weapons. 2 Cor. 10:4; but weapons mighty through God, to the pulling down of strongholds.” “ This is the victory that overcometh the world even our faith.” So let us make full proof of our ministry. Then if the gospel be hid, it is hid to those that are lost. Let us go out at all hours, and cad for laborers to work in the vineyard of the Lord. May the richest of Heaven’s blessings rest upon all God’s little ones for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

Your brother saved to the uttermost,

W. A. Haynes.

NEWS FROM THE FIELD.

358, 10th St., San Diego, Cal., Nov. 26, ’91.

Dear Saints: We are still kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Have been holding meetings in the Sierra Building for a few weeks during which some souls have been saved. In one meeting there were ten children at the altar, aged from fourteen down to five years, among whom were our own Olive and Cora, who are believing in Jesus and doing their best to be good girls and live for him. Quite a number of the little ones have fully yielded to the Lord. The location is a real missionary field. Have closed the protracted effort now, and have established a regular appointment every Tuesday evening, also every Sunday afternoon after Sunday school. The Sunday-school is conducted by Sister Dodson, who is accepting the clear light and sees the importance of unsectarian missionary work among the children. Has offered us the use of the hall at less expense than to put up the tent. This is more desirable as the evenings are damp and cool at present for tent work. Have a regular appointment every Friday evening at National City. The rest of the time we are engaged at the Fifth St. mission. Held some interesting meetings with a company of saints upon the British ship “Garsdale,” where a few of the sailors accepted the Lord and were made happy in the knowledge of salvation. We lake great pleasure in distributing the Trumpet broadcast upon laud and sea. While it causes many sectarians to rage, it brings words of life to the hearts of the honest. Are making arrangements to supply all vessels that slop here with Trumpets and tracts. This is a grand opportunity to spread the light to all parts of the globe, as there are British, German, Norwegian, and in fact vessels from nearly all nations. We are much encouraged in this new yet difficult field. If only there were more faithful fire tested workers to dovote their whole lime and talent in pushing this battle on. Who is ready and willing to come? Every city needs a band of consecrated missionaries to advance this evening light. This means hardships; the loss of all worldly pleasures to be counted an outcast among men, the gazing- stock and offscouring of the world, despised, rejected, persecuted, and in every sense, an apostolic experience. — 1 Cor. 4:11-13. Let no one think that there is plenty of time yet for this work. The time is short; souls are perishing. This day of grace will soon be over. The harvest is past. The gleaning grapes that are left and the few olive berries must be gathered speedily. Behold now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation. We expect to remain here this winter. Correspondents please address, 1021, 15th St., San Diego. All well, happy, saved, sanctified and kept.

Your humble co-workers, upon the gospel altar,

J. W. & J. Byers.

Union Grove, Ill., Dec. 10, 1891.

Dear Saints of the Most High God: Grace, peace and mercy be multiplied unto you all. Amen. The Kingston, Mo. meeting was a glorious feast to our souls. The meeting was held in a hall on Main St. which was filled to the utmost capacity every night with attentive listeners who had never heard the word preached in its purity; and as the word went forth, they drank it down with tears. Four souls gave their hearts to God, and about 15 stood on their feet for our prayers. God bless them and save them, and also Lawyer McAfee and family, who are among the number who were very kind to us. We found many warmhearted friends in Mo. who wonderfully provided for all our wants. The Lord willing we expect to return ere long and reap a glorious harvest into the fold of God. We met with some opposition from the three works of grace (disgrace) men, who came and advanced their doctrine in their prayers. After they got through we stepped out of the pulpit and told them to take the same and prove to the congregation when and where we can get the third work, but they would not take the stand. The congregation was soon convinced after those persons were rebuked in the name of Jesus. The meeting went on with the same glorious victory for king Jesus. The last night of meeting many souls went out of the house crying aloud after they had invited us to come back again. God bless them, and also the little church in their prayer meetings.

Your humble brother and sisters,

J. A. & A. J. Dillon, & B. E. Fink.

Dear Readers of the Trumpet: I do praise God that it is my privilege to testify through the columns of the Trumpet again. I wrote my testimony about eight months ago, but since that time I have been brought through many fiery trials. Praise the Lord! I am still out on the king’s highway, battling for Jesus and the right, amid the troubles and trials and sore temptations of this wicked world. I am kept saved from all sin and iniquity, by the power of God. I have been serving God nearly two years, and praise his holy name! I am still resolved to worship him the remainder of my days in righteousness and true holiness. My whole desire is to do the will of God, because he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. When I started out in this way I was fully determined never to turn back to the world because the whole world lieth in wickedness and shall pass away, and now while I write I can feel the Spirit’s holy fire burning within, witnessing to me, that I have a home in heaven. I know that it is nothing good that I have done, but through the goodness of God I have this blessed experience; praise his dear name! I know that I am at peace with my Maker. Should I be called this moment, I am prepared to go. O how blessed it is to know that we have a home in heaven, and that we by the grace of God have been made worthy of that home! God has said, Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown. Now dear saints, let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, for God is faithful that promised. My sinner friends, prepare to meet God: it is horrible to think you will be lost; yet it will be so unless you prepare to meet God; for sin is the transgression of the law, and the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners, shall be together. Yours, saved now,

Albert M. Johnson.

Melrose’, O., Dec. 21, 1891.

Dear Trumpet Readers: We are glad to report once more. On the 3d of Nov. we commenced meeting at Areola, Ind. in the name of Jesus, accompanied by Bro. F. N. Jacobson and wife, and some of the saints from Columbia City. We had a good meeting; a few backsliders were reclaimed, and my wife was ordained for the work of the ministry. From this place we went to Antwerp, O. Here we met with Bro’s B. E. Warren and A. J. Kilpatrick. Some souls were saved and some sanctified; and four were baptized. It was a glorious meeting to our souls. Next we went to the saints near Melrose, O. Here we found the people in a bad condition. Some had backslidden when Haner was here about two years ago. One, who the was elder, confessed, got down and sought God, and was reclaimed; also some others. But we are fearful for some others at that place. Our prayer is that God will show them their condition. The Lord moved us to ordain another elder, Sister Zorah J. Ellis; and for deacon, J.S. Hunt.

LATER.

We wish to report that Bro. John Pence of this place, since the Beaver Dam C. M., found out that he was not wholly sanctified. He made the consecration and God sanctified him wholly. And God has joined us together to work for the Lord. He was also ordained to the ministry of the gospel in the church of the living God. And we are now ready to start out where- ever the Lord will.

Your brother,

C. E. Rothermel.

Dear Trumpet Readers: The Lord is with us in preaching the glorious gospel of Christ. Recently held a week’s meeting at Blendon, Mich. and good was accomplished. Much darkness was removed, and the church was strengthened, and built up in the faith. I am now holding meeting at Johnson Bethel, where two souls recently consecrated to God. Our next will be at Kendall, Mich., commencing Jan. 2, 1892.

Dear Trumpet Readers: May the Lord bless you with an abundant fullness of his love, is our prayer. We wish to tell of God’s goodness and mercy to us, who is saving and keeping us by power divine. Since we last reported from Ok. Ter. we have been very busily engaged in the service of the Master. Our labor closed in Oklahoma with victory in Jesus’ name. From there we came to Cedar Vale, Kan. where we had a very precious meeting. About eight or nine were happily converted to Jesus; others were seeking a clean heart; and several were baptized. From Cedar Vale we went to Stafford, where we found the brethren still struggling under the bad influence left by certain apostate teachers. Our stay at this place was blest of the Lord. From Stafford we went to Bushong, where we remained six weeks teaching the ways of calvary’s cross. A few were saved, and the church much benefited. About all the brethren stand out clear for Jesus. Bro. Hazzard was anointed elder of the church at that place. May God bless them and keep them from the prowling wolves who go about in sheep clothing. Pray for us out here in the west.

Yours in the gospel work,

E. F. Houghton & J. F. Lundy.

Dear Saints: I wish to say to the glory of God that we are still saved in Jesus and kept wholly sanctified, and are doing the Master’s will. We had a very precious meeting at Bro. Roush’s. Bro. Rosenbery and Mother Smith were with us. We did have a real refreshing shower from the presence of the Lord, and the little ones sank deeper down in the will of God. Some renewed their consecration and were filled with the holy fire. Two dear ones were healed by obeying the word. We go to Deshler the 11th, to help in a meeting. We are out on the blood and fire line with a heart full of love to do the Master’s will.

Dear Brethren: We are happy once more to report that our company are all joyful in glory, with the high praises of God in our mouths and a two-edged sword in our hands, following the “faithful and true” as he goes forth “to judge and make war.” We did not report our labor in Ill. We were about six weeks in in the vicinity of Reddick and held meeting there and at Gardner and Essex. At the first two of the above places, hearts and ears were much closed against God’s thruth, though our God did strengthen our hands for the battle. We found several warm hearts at Essex. Our dear Bro. Adison Kriebel escaped from Babylon and by faith the blood was applied, purifying his heart and filling the temple with the Holy Ghost. The Lord assisting us with means from both ends of the road, we arrived safe four weeks ago at Robinson, Kan., near which place we have been holding up the word of life by the power of the holy Spirit, which is resulting in many souls coming to God. Conviction is resting on many, and much praise thanksgiving is going up to God, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

TESTIMONIES.

Thy Testimonies are Wonderful.” —
Psa. 119:129.

Sycamore, Ill.

Dear Saints of the Living God: About six months ago my soul was saved and sanctified, and a thousand tongues could never tell the blessed experience I have enjoyed ever since. I am still rejoicing in the full salvation of God, and growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Lord saw fit to let me go through fiery trials for several months, but he hath said, “The trying of your faith worketh patience.” Hallelujah! There are a great many sects in this place, and I am praying for God to send some oue of his ministers here who will preach the blessed gospel in all its glorious light and truth; for there are many honest souls in this place who, like myself, are hungry for the bread of life. Oh how good it is to have a Savior who will go with us all through our earthly journey, and who will carry us in his arms over all the hard places! I hope I will be found faithful unto the end.

Dearly Beloved Saints: I believe it will be for the glory of God to tell of a little physical victory he has given me. I was troubled recently with the toothache; it began to disturb my rest at night, and I concluded I must have the tooth out as I had had two others before. I had tried to have them healed by faith, but failed to get hold of the Almighty arm. As I seated myself in the doctor’s chair, vague, sarcastic thoughts flitted through my mind, and I half fancied through the doctor’s also, — “You are a pretty believer in faith healing; one thing certain, you cannot get decayed teeth healed by faith, you have to come to the doctor with them.” I felt half reproached, but as they robbed me of my rest at night, and I did not receive any relief in prayer, I did not know what else to do, so with mental and physical pain I allowed my faithful servants to be tom from me. As I contemplated doing the same thing again, I thought how much I should miss this other tooth, how the prospect was for me to have no teeth or artificial ones, which I had always half detested. Is it of faith, thought I, when I seated myself in the doctor’s chair for the operation, or is it of unbelief? The answer was plain. Still I thought of the grinders ceasing because they were few, and although I knew God could heal decayed teeth, I wondered if it was his will to do so. I thought of Moses’ good eyesight and natural force, and no doubt good teeth also; of the walking on the water; the iron swimming, etc. I thought of the physical victories the Lord had given me in the past. The still small voice said, “Go forward;” I believed, and the aching ceased, and to my troubled spirit came a sweet calm.

And now dear brethren and sisters, let us go up at once and possess the rich inheritance our Father has promised ns physically and spiritually; form his name and in his strength we are able to do it. God is not partial; what he does for one of his children he is pleased to do for all, who like Jacob will take his blessing by force. He likes to have us do it. And now dear ones, if ever I change my resolution, or if ever the Lord disappoints me, I will let you know; but “the Lord God will help; therefore I shall not be confounded; therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know I shall not be ashamed.” “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.”

Your brother, saved and sanctified,

Moses H. Thompson.

(Continued from 1st page.)

God! Multiplication is a rapid process of addition. But the question it often asked, Will not this remnant grow cold and run into sectism and the world, as past reformations have lost their salt? No; they backslid because their leaders set up the sect idol which soon sapped their spirituality, rooted God out of their hearts. But now, only Jesus is lifted up; accordingly he that glorieth must glory in the Lord. Hence along with the multiplication of them, God says, “will also glorify them.” Amen! The Lord bless thee, O habitation of justice and mountain of holiness. — Jer. 31:23.

Thy sun shall no more go down: neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land forever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. A little one shall become a thousand and a small one a strong nation: the Lord will hasten it in his time. — Isa. 60:20-22.

This is blessed and glorious news. The sun of the primitive church did go down before noon. The true light was hid in the long night of Rome and shone but dimly in Protestantism; but after God gathers his remnant out of fallen Babylon, her light shall never again wane. “They also shall be all righteous.” No mixture no goats nor spotted sheep in the fold of Christ. Bless the Lord forever! And as the result of multiplication, “a little one,” the despised few, shall become a thousand, a small one a strong nation; “I the Lord will hasten it in his time.” God has pledged himself to do this, and who can hinder it? In that day, saith the Lord, will I assemble her that halteth, and will gather her that is driven out, and I will make her that halteth a remnant, and her that was cast off a strong nation. — Micah 4:6, 7. Therefore be strong in the Lord, O ye saints, and in the power of his might.

I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I WILL PUT THEM TOGETHER as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men. — Micah 2:12.

MULTITUDES, MULTITUDES in the valley of decision; for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. — Joel 3:14. So shall ye know that I am the Lord your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more. — Joel 3:17. Praise the Lord!

So the “little one,” “the few” are multiplied into emphasized multitudes. And as God’s true saints are gathering into this sweet valley of decision we are again reminded that the day of the Lord is near. Amen.

This remnant becomes the entire bolt, the bride the Lamb’s wife, and all that constitutes God’s redeemed church on earth. In Rev. 18:4, a voice from heaven calls God’s people out of Babylon. They obey their Shepherd and come out; therefore neither he nor his bride is heard in her anymore. Rev. 18:23. And having come out they multiply until we hear “the voice of a GREAT MULTITUDE,” 19:6. And that multitude that had come out of her is declared to be the bride, the Lamb’s wife. Which is all that he owns as his church, and she is arrayed in fine linen, clean anti white, and is ready for the marriage of the Lamb. 19:7, 8. Praise the Lord! And this remnant is the “camp of the saints, and the beloved city.” 20:9. And eternal triumph is hers. Amen!

And now, beloved, remember that God has said he would hasten the gathering of his remnant, and now is his season. Let all our hearts respond, Amen; and lay all in his hands as the means of fulfilling his gloriousannouncement. It must go even to

ALL FOREIGN LANDS.

For a few years we have been much impressed at times that this pure gospel of the kingdom must be preached in all the world, for a witness to every nation, and then shall the end come. How forcibly Rev. 14:6, 7 has come to our mind. The commission to those angels who are gathering the elect remnant extends to “them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation and kindred and tongue and people.” Amen! Lord, hasten it more and more. And truly the Spirit is moving men to the “regions beyond.” Bro. Schroder of Cal. had begun translating tracts into the Scandinavian, his mother tongue; but for want of means he has been driven to secular labor for some time past, and so the work of God is delayed. May the Lord soon get him out in the work. We hope Bro. Schleehauf is translating into German. Push the work, my brother. Bro. Storrer thinks of going to England to introduce the right there. And our dear Bro. Achor is very clearly called to India and Africa. May the Lord speed him on his way. Dear brother, when the time draws near to depart, ask God to put it into the hearts of the dear saints to help you on your way with their means; and there are many who are truly consecrated to do as the Lord shall make known unto them his will. O that the poor heather, may have the privilege of receiving Christ without the abomination of human yokes! Ever since the dark age brought forth its disgusting creeds and inconsistent factions the Lord’s missionaries have been embarrassed in their labors. Oft the heathen have confounded them by telling them to go home and become one among themselves. One of the leading missionaries admitted that the heathen need and want our Christ, but they are kept from entering the kingdom of grace by the stumbling block of shameful schisms. Not only many could be reached directly by the pure gospel which offers Christ without the creeds of men, but it seems reasonable to hope that many sincere missionaries would be glad to cast off the curse of sect yokes, discern and embrace the body of Christ, and cease to blush before the heathen with the marks of the beast upon their foreheads. So a great harvest could be indirectly gathered from these.

The brother, Eusebius Hershey, who reported to our readers from Africa, a few months ago has closed his labors on earth, having been quite advanced in years. The Lord send others to the dark corners of the earth with the pure light of Heaven. We have been informed that in England and many other foreign countries many are becoming disgusted with the “established” national creeds of superstition and spiritual death, and are forming themselves into temporary organizations called “missions,” etc., having escaped the old sects, and not yet discerned the body of Christ. O Lord, make haste to teach them thy ways lest they fall into a worse pit! O ye dear saints, who know and enjoy the truth which alone makes men free indeed, God holds us responsible, and human sympathy should move us to do all in our power for the emancipation of all mankind from the bondage of sin and the religious brands of the devil.

A FLOATING BETHEL.

The following from Bro. G. T. Clayton should claim our attention and co-operation:

From the rivers to the ends of the earth,” the Lord wants this gospel preached. Thus beginning at the rivers. For several years I have been impressed that the Lord wants a flat boat with a meeting-room about 40X 60 feet, and cabin for the workers to live in. To be used on the Ohio, Mississippi and perhaps other rivers. There are often boats that have been used for other purposes that can be sought very cheap, and fitted up at a cost of about $800 that would answer the purpose. Two or more companies can work on such a craft. One company on the boat, others in surrounding towns. The boat should be purchased this winter and started at as early a date as possible. I feel very sure it is of the Lord, and I believe the Lord will bring it to pass. This boat could float 2,500 miles, and stop at about five hundred towns and cities. It is the most practical way to spread the light I know of. Any one moved of God to help set this work moving, send means to the Trumpet office desinating the object. Your saved brother,

Amen! God help us to send the gospel by tide, and wind and steam, by electricity and on horses, and men running to and fro on all the face of the earth on foot. O Lord, send them forth, but only the true and pure in heart; for Satan is on hand to commission all others. But do thou, O God, go forth on thy wheels of fire, and on thy burning throne of holiness, and teach the nations thy great salvation. And let all the saints with devoted lives, hands, lips and minds, and with open hearts and open purses, and with consecrated lands, houses and possessions, and all with one heart and with one accord, and uplifted hands, say, AMEN! AMEN!!

TESTIMONIES.

Thy Testimonies are Wonderful.” —
Psa. 119:129.

Binghamton, N. Y.

Dear Saints: This day finds’ me saved, sanctified, healed and kept by power divine; doing His whole will. Discouragements are great, —encouragements greater. The pressing need of means with which to glorify God, being one discouragement, but not the greatest. The enemy’s work of sowing tares among the good seed, seems he greatest; and just now so much of it is being done, before the good seed can bring forth good fruit. Certainly the devil knows the “signs of the times,” or he would not be so busy with the remnant, when God is trying to gather together into one spirit, according to his word.

Dear saints and workers everywhere, let, us stand last in the faith of Jesus Christ over the few things God has given us to do, praying much for each other, that we may not be overcome, but that we may be overcomers; not only over the few things, but overcomers of self; not watching each other’s faults, and thereby condemn our weaker brother, but watch for his or her soul, to build them up in the most holy faith. God bless and reward you all.

Your sister in Jesus,

Mrs. Melissa Lane.

Dear Saints: I am on the run for heaven; am saved and love the truth as never before. I am now in the school of Christ, learning the deep things of God. Bless his dear name! Oh, how it pays to come out from all the world! The Lord only knows how thankful I am that he led me out in the evening light. How I love all the saints and lost souls! My life work is to look for the lost of earth and let my light shine. The Lord led me here to Three Rivers in the work of the Lord. Souls are getting saved. Pray for me.

Dear Trumpet Readers: I feel led of the Lord to write my testimony for the first time. Thank God for the happy privilege. I feel that I am justified in the sight of God, and I want the prayers of all the saints that I may reach the blessed experience of entire sanctification. I want all that the Lord has in store for me. My poor soul is hungering for a deeper work of grace, and they that hunger and thirst after righteousness “shall be filled.” Thank God for the blessed promise. Pray for me. He “has not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.”

Your sister in Christ,

U. S. Holly.

Dear Saints: Our testimony is that we are glad we are saved, enjoying a real Bible salvation. We are clear from the world and its trappings, having no desire or pleasure in them, and are standing free from Babylon, Egypt and Sodom, walking in the light; for in Him is no darkness at all. Wife and I stand alone, except one or two others that have received the light by reading the word and the Trumpet. Many are claiming to walk in the light but are full of deception, “deceiving and being deceived,” calling light darkness, and darkness light. Oh how sad to see poor souls so deluded! May the Lord help them to see their mistake is our prayer.

Your saved brother and sister,

Eliza & Randle Sturgis.

Dear Trumpet Readers: I rejoice with a thousand others that the Trumpet will soon be a weekly. We believe that the Lord will make the hearts and minds of all the saints willing to contribute some if only a little to this purpose. O brethren and sisters! pray for God to help on this great work. Glory to Jesus! I was a subject of prayer for bodily healing at the Kenesaw camp meeting, and I have improved in soul and body, though am not restored to perfect health. My faith reaches out after God for complete health. Continue to pray for me. I am all given up to God and his cause, and feel that he wants me to go out to battle with Gog and Magog, and aid in spreading this evening light. We are much in need of workers here.

Your brother, sanctified by a second work of grace,

Edward Boicourt.

Dear Trumpet Readers: It has been some time since Bro. Warner and Co. were here preaching the second work of grace and the evening light. The first time I ever heard it I was convinced that it was true Bible teaching. Yet I thought that I could obtain the blessing and stay in the M. E. sect. I promised the brethren I never would turn back. But I worked in vain until Bro. Howard and Co. came and convinced me that I had to bring all and put it on the altar. Praise the Lord! I did, and in that moment I was filled with the Holy Spirit, praising God with unspeakable joy. God has sweetly kept me ever since. Praise his name! I have no more need to sing the old song. “Prone to wander, Lord I feel it; prone to leave the God I love.” But I am continually praising the Lord and giving glory to his name. We pray the Lord to send more laborers into this part of his vineyard. Amen.

Your brother,

John Shaneyfelt.

Dear Saints: May God bless you with all peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. I feel impressed by the Spirit of God to make known to you the wondrous love of God to me, and also trust that yon will bear with me as I relate a little of my experience since I last wrote to you. We attended the Perryville grove meetting, about forty-five miles from our home. On arriving at the meeting, we met with a few of God’s dear children, but had scarcely greeted them when we realized that instead of the true fellowship which we once enjoyed, there seemed a gulf between us. Although we tried to treat them kindly, that sweet blending of the Spirit was not here, and doubtless the little ones fell it also. As we knew that God and his word and children were all right, we could do nothing else but search our heart for the cause of it all, and at the first opportunity I came to God for mercy. Dear ones, as we looked back along the path we had trod, God showed us two instances wherein we were disobedient, and had even feared to ask God lest he would reveal his will to us. Oh, what folly that we would allow Satan to turn our eyes from the meek and lowly Savior. However, when we entreated God he was merciful and forgave us. Praise his name! We then presented our all to God and the sacrifice was accepted, and henceforth we are not our own, but belong to God. Our heart goes out in love to all the dear little ones, and we entreat your prayers in our behalf.

Your humble sister, sanctified wholly,

Jennie I. Stow.

Praise God for the evening light! and for salvation that makes us free, also that we enjoy it, praise God! Wm. N. & S. J. Smith & Co. have just finished a short protracted meeting here. The Lord was with us in power; two were justified, several in a backslidden state brought back, and the church more firmly established. Glory to Jesus! Your brother and sister, saved to the uttermost,

Joseph & Ida Hewitt.

Dear Saints: With the glory of God in view, I feel led to write my testimony of healing and salvation. I was sanctified about ten years ago. At that time I was greatly afflicted with deafness. I heard of the healing power of God among the saints. I wondered if the Lord could heal me. I then saw in the word he could heal the deaf. I then began to call on the Lord to heal me, and I do praise the Lord, he did heal me instantly. I also have been healed of a cancer by the power of God, for which I glorify him. I pray the Lord to bless all who may read this for Jesus’ sake. Your saved sister,

M. J. Howard.

Dear Readers of the Trumpet: I am glad to have my name numbered with the redeemed. I have been a member of the M. E. sect 17 years, but I see now that I have been living far from God Brother Dillon and wife and Sister Fink were holding a tent meeting here last August. I was led by the Lord to go there and the first time I went God led me out in this beautiful light. I thought it was a hard thing to leave the Methodists. I could not see why I could not live right and still belong to them; but I see now. I have tried it twice and was drifting away from God both times; and now I have no desire to be joined to them, as I am satisfied to be joined to Christ alone. Praise the Lord for this free and full salvation! I have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus and feel that he owns me as his own child, but I think there is a deeper work of grace for me and do not think it will be long before I shall receive it. Jesus is very precious to my soul. I ask your prayers for my two children, a boy 15 and a girl 17, that they may be saved. My boy has a lame back caused by a fall, and also weak eyes. I ask your prayers that he may be saved and healed, for I feel that God has a work for him to do. I bless God for bringing me out in this evening light. I ask your prayers for my husband; he is still in the sect. I love to read the Trumpet; it feeds my soul with spiritual food. Your sisters saved by the blood of Christ,

Mrs. G. Carveth.

Dear Saints of God, Greeting: God bless you all. Amen. I am happy to report that I am saved with an everlasting salvation, by two works of grace. First I was justified freely and afterwards I was sanctified wholly, praise God! and entered into the standing grace where I now stand and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God; and not only so, but I glory in tribulation also, knowing that tribulation worketh patience, and patience experience, and experience hope; and hope maketh not ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Rom. 5:1-5. From Utica, Neb., Brother and Sister Smith went to York Co. and I went to Table Rock, and commenced meeting in the name of the Lord, and continued one week. One sister who had been a member of the Baptist sect, and had never heard the evening light, accepted the truth, and came to the Lord as a sinner and was saved. From there I went to Pawnee City to see a brother who lived there. We came back to Table Rock and commenced meeting again on Thanksgiving day. Had meeting the rest of the week in the evenings, and over Sunday. The Lord was with us in mighty power to the salvation of souls. Then were seven consecrations in all, some for pardon, and some for entire sanctification who also received the desired experience. May God bless and keep the dear ones humble and true to him. From there I came to this place where I found Brother and Sister Smith engaged in a series of meetings. I ask the dear saints to pray that the Lord will keep me humble, and use me to his glory. Your brother saved in Jesus, and kept by the power of God in trough faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time,

Wm. A. Randolph.
