HYMN.

Thou hast called me, gentle Savior,
Thou hast called me to thy fold;
All thy merit and thy glory
Never, never can be told!

He has saved me, He has saved me,
He has saved me through and through;
Now I’m ever kept so sweetly,
For my heart is all anew.

Glory! glory!! He has saved me!
I will praise Him o’er and o’er.
And He’s willing to forgive you,
And to save tenthousand more.

He’s redeemed me, O how precious!
He has washed me in his blood;
Now my talk is all of Jesus,
My song, the love of God.

HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD.

_____

(Continued from last issue.)

THE SPIRIT WHICH ACTUATES THE CHURCH IS HOLY.

“If ye love me keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him; but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you and shall be in you.” Jno. 14:15-17. “But the Comforter which is the Holy Ghost whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” 14:26. How much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” Luke 11:13. “What! know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, and ye are not your own?” 1 Cor. 6:19. “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple yeare.” 3:16, 17. “He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who has also given unto us his Holy Spirit.” 1 Thess. 4:8.

HE LEADS HIS CHURCH.

“Howbeit when he the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” Jno. 16:13. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Rom. 8:14.

HE PURIFIES HIS CHURCH.

“And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; and put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.” Acts 15:8, 9. “And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” 1 Jno. 13:3.

HE GIVES POWER TO HIS CHURCH.

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you,” etc. Acts 1:8. “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.” Eph. 1:19.

POWER OVER DEVILS, AND DISEASE.

“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.” Mat 10:1-8. “These signs shall them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues, they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.” Mark 16:17, 18. “To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit.” 1 Cor. 12:9.

POWER OVER TEMPTATION.

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make a way of escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Cor. 10:13. “The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.” 2 Pet.2:9.

POWER OVER SIN.

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from sins.” Mat. 1:21.

“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh. Rom. 8:3.

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Cor. 5:21.

“For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.” Heb. 9:26.

“But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” 1 Jno. 1:7.

“And we know he was manifest to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.” 1 Jno: 3:5.

HE GIVES POWER TO PREACH.

“To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kind of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.” 1 Cor. 12:10. “But all these worketh that one and the self-same Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.” II. To prophesy is to teach to edification. “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.” 1 Cor. 14:4. “But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.” 3. Go ye therefore into all the world, and teach all nations. Mat. 28:19, 20. “And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” Luke 24:49. “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth.” Acts 1:8.

HE BEARS WITNESS TO THE CHURCH.

“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.” Rom. 8:16. “Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.” 1 Jno. 4:13. “And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know he abideth in us, by his Spirit which he hath given us.” 1 Jno. 3:24.

HE GIVES FELLOWSHIP TO HIS CHURCH.

“If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the spirit, if any bowels of mercies.” Phil. 2:1. “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be wito you all.” 2 Cor. 13:14. “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son

Jesus Christ.” 1 Jno. 1:3. “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ.” 1 Cor. 1:9.

THE CHURCH WORSHIP IN HOLINESS.

“Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” Psa. 29:2. 1 Chron. 16:29. All the members of God’s church worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; WHICH IS UNITY. “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” Psa. 133:1.

AND IN SPIRIT.

“God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” Jno. 4:24. “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of God is there is liberty.” 2 Cor. 3:17. Avoiding forms and formalities God’s church is a grand structure. “Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God.” Psa. 87:3. BECAUSE, God is in the midst of them. “Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the holy one of Israel in the midst of thee.” Isa. 12:6. And they are all righteous: holy, just and good. Isa. 60:21.

WHAT WAS THE TIME SPOKEN OF, WHEN god’s PEOPLE SHOULD ALL BE RIGHTEOUS?

We will have to begin and analyze the chapter (Isa. 60), and find the prophetic time God referred to.

1st verse, “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee,” Arise: signifies a fallen condition.

2, “For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.” Here the prophet speaks of the darkness of the apostasy, but the Lord shall return with the light of the gospel. This is the apostasy and evening light.

4, “Lift up thine eyes round about and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.”

5, “Then thou shalt see and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged.” Flow together, signifies a scattered condition of sectism, and the gathering together as Christ tells us in his last signs. “And he shall send his angels [messengers] with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Mat. 24:31. This gathering together of the elect corresponds with the gathering and flowing together of Isaiah after the darkness covered the earth and gross darkness the people; which refers to the darkness the of the apostasy, into sectism. With this key to the chapter we can follow the line of prophecy through to the end.

7, “They shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.” Speaking of the time his people shall present themselves on his altar, a living sacrifice, and be accepted, and sanctified wholly, and he will glorify the house (church) of his glory; i. e. he will restore his house (church) to its first glory, by gathering his people out of their scattered condition, in sectism, to his glorious church, as formerly.

8, “Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to the windows?” This corresponds with Rev. 14:6, “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.” And as doves to the windows, means God’s people who hear the truth of the everlasting gospel, and escape from the cage and fly to the ark of safety, Jesus, to the church of the living God. 1 Tim. 3:15.

Verse 9 expresses, symbolically the ways and means he will employ to bring his people back to his own church, because he hath glorified it. 10, And the sons of strangers shall build thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favor have I had mercy upon thee.

11, “Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night,” is the same as Rev. 21:25, “Ank the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.” This is referring to the church of God which is accessible day and night. “That men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.” Corresponding with Rev. 21:26, “And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.”

12, “For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.” How often we have seen that when sects have had opportunities to hear the glorious, everlasting gospel and reject it, they have become spiritually dead and many times, entirely broken up. “Babylon the great is fallen and become the habitation of devils,” etc. Rev. 18:2.

13, God shows he is going to bring the precious out and into his fold, to beautify his sanctuary; and will make the place of his feet glorious. What is the place of his feet? 1 Chron. 28:2. David speaks of the temple as the place of his footstool. The temple was a type of the church under the gospel; hence the place of his feet and his sanctuary is the church of God.

14, “And they shall call thee, the city of the Lord, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.” The city of the Lord and Zion is the church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven. Heb. 12:22, 23. Some say this refers to the apostles’ days, for they had this same church then, but let us examine farther on and see.

18, “Violence shall be heard no more at all in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls salvation, and thy gates praise.” It could not refer to the morning, for there has been violence and wasting, during the apostasy.

19, “The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.” “And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon to shine in it; for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.” Rev. 21:23. This is spoken concerning the church returning to its former glory.

20, “Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.” This verse shows conclusively that it refers to the “evening light,” and not to the morning or apostolic age, for the sun has gone down since their day. “And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord God, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.” Amos 8:9. Which was fulfilled. The sun went down and the earth was darkened, when they departed from God, by ignoring his Holy Spirit and Word and adopting creeds in the stead thereof. Taking the traditions of men in preference to the commandments of God our Savior. The sun here refers to Christ or his gospel, which went into obscurity, into the wilderness of sectism and confusion, teaching heresy, tradition and the opinions of men, instead of the pure gospel of Jesus Christ. That the church is infallible, that we do not need to follow the word of God, nor the Spirit, but the church being infallible has power to change the word of God. The moon is symbolical of the church, which shall not withdraw itself. The church did withdraw itself into the darkness of the wilderness of sectism; and is very evident it cannot refer to the apostolic times, but to a time following the darkening of the sun and the withdrawing of the moon, which is fulfilled now in the “evening light.” And thy people shall be all righteous. God’s people in his church are all righteous, holy, just, living in exact accordance to the will of God in life and practice. God’s people are all holy, living without sin. “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin, for his seed (Christ, Gal. 3:16.) remaineth in him and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” 1 Jno. 3:9. God’s people all live without sin. God’s church is holy and without blemish. Eph. 5:27. God is gathering out a holy, separate people, Mat. 24:31, ready for his coming, that he may receive them to himself.” And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” 1 Jno. 3:3. Now is the time when his people are all righteous, holy, just and living in accordance with his will and word. Praise God! Not doing part which is easy to the flesh, but observing all things whatsoever he has commanded. Mat. 28:20. Doing his will as it is done in heaven, Mat. 6:10. Yours in the one body,

G. R. Achor.

Dear Gospel Trumpet Readers: I am happy in my soul and am giving God the glory for his wonderful keeping power; for he saves and sanctifies me wholly and keeps me hid away with Christ in God. Praise his name forever! We have meeting Thursday nights and Sundays and God blesses our work. There is much prejudice here against the truth, and we are praying God to send some of his ministers here to work, that we may get a hall in the main part of town and have meeting every night the year round; for this is a large wicked city. May God send whomsoever he will with a tabernacle or any way he may lead. Yours in the one body,

MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE.

The tract on “Marriage and Divorce” has been revised and enlarged and is now ready to send out. We have had many calls for this tract since the old edition was all gone, and are now prepared to fill all orders. It contains thirty-two pages of the same size as the little book, “Train your Children for Heaven.” Price per single copy, 5 cts., per dozen, 40 cts.

Just recently we have made a change in the first column of this page, in which a notice is given of books and tracts. Several new tracts and other works have been added to the list, and it would be well for each one to look over the list. If you could but read some of the many letters that we receive, in which they state how they have received the light through a tract which some one handed them, you would not hesitate to see that your friends and neighbors were supplied with tracts and left without excuse in the day of judgment. Let each one see that they do their duty on this line, and do what they can to rescue perishing souls.

Dear Brethren Everywhere: We visited Bro. Luke Angle, of Cameron, Harper Co., Kan. and we found him in need of something to live on. Bro. Angle lives fourteen miles southwest of Cameron, Kan. in Oklahoma Ter. He is blind and has been for four years. He has a good prospect for a crop, but has nothing with which to buy even bread. We have known him for four years and know him to be true. Your saved brother,

Dear Brethren: There will be a meeting at Seven Forks, Miss., five and one-half miles northwest of Kosciusko, Oct. 3, to last as long as the Lord will. Let all the saints join with us in prayer for this meeting. We have just returned from there and have had a seed-sowing time. We are looking for a great harvest of souls at this place. Dear saints of God, pray for the work in the South. Let all who wish to correspond with me please send me stamps with which to answer, as I am not able to furnish stamps to answer all the letters I get. Your brother,

Dear Children of God: We are happy to report victory on the Lord’s side. We came to West Virginia, July 31, in company with Bro. S. J. Ruffner. We came from the Gospel Ark, where we had been laboring with good results. We left Bro. B. F. Roe and Bro. L. C. Mast and wife to carry on the work there. We went to Bearsville and held two meetings. But on account of the busy time the people preferred to have the meeting later in the fall; so we closed with good interests and went to the Joseph school house and commenced meeting. But the authorities refused to let us have the house longer than one night, Satan knowing his kingdom would suffer. We then came to this place to commence meeting to-night in the name of Jesus. Pray for us. Your brethren in Jesus’ love,

Dear Holy Brethren and Friends: May God ever richly bless you all. Amen. The Wash. annual C. M, has come and gone; its light, truth and victory are spreading abroad in the earth and sweeping on into eternity. Hallelujah! Myself and helpmate will still labor in Wash, and Ore. for a season. In company with several workers and ministers we went and held the Tekoa grove meeting. The meeting was well attended, and great results and victories for God and his cause shall come forth from this meeting. Our beloved Bro. Bruner and family from Smith Center, Kan, was also with us in this meeting, whose presence and fellowship we much enjoyed in the Lord. May heaven’s blessings rest upon father Mc’Croskey and family for their courtesy and kindness extended to the camp for the use of his grove, etc. God richly bless all his holy people and workers, and preserve all faithful and useful till Jesus comes. Amen. Yours in the holy fellowship and meekness of Jesus,

Dear Saints: Since we last wrote the blessed Lord has cared and provided for us; bless his name. And we can say that he is all in all to us. We have learned to trust him for all things. While we have to be working this summer is new fields, we have learned some precious lessons on the line of faith in the living God. The word says, “Contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints.” I am glad we can have this faith if we will live for it. I am glad the God of heaven and earth has a few to day of real consecrated people that are out straight for God with the same kind of a spirit that Jesus had — love. Oh brethren let us be very careful that we preach nothing but the pure gospel and in love for souls. I do praise God for his saving and keeping power. The blessed Lord is so good to us; he has provided us with a team and hack to travel with, which we use to his glory. We never can tell how the dear Lord did bless us while in the new field of labor. A number accepted the truth. Praise God! The sects closed their doors against the truth in many places, or had them closed and would not open them. We preached on the streets and in private houses and the Lord did wonderfully pour out his Spirit. We expect the Lord willing to travel over the same fields this fall. Bro. Chambers has been with us. May God bless him and give him souls for his hire. Pray that we may keep where God can use us to his glory.

the name of Jesus Christ and as God sent forth the judgment of his word, some were brought to a conciousness of the fact that their profession and experience did not harmonize, the facts in the case being that they professed the holiness of the gospel without the experience of the same. Now we believe that the most of them that had got into a profession of holiness without the experience, acknowledged the same and most of them got a definite experience; but some desired to cover up their condition instead of confessing it. Well I fear such will get an experience which will not be very desirable, and if continued in any length of time, will not be very easily gotten rid of. God grant to bless the little church of the saints at McLallen Corners, Pa. and create in them an intense desire for a transparent experience of holiness. We are now at Tidioute holding meeting in a hall. The people that attend services, give good heed to the word of God, that is sent forth in the name of Jesus by his embassadors. Remember us and the meeting here in your prayers. Now taking every thing into consideration, concerning the Grand Valley meeting, we thought it necessary to recall the appointment in August and have a regular protracted meeting in October the Lord willing, for it will take some time in that locality for the word and Spirit to clear the prejudice from the minds of the people so that they can believe unto the saving of their souls. Remember in your prayers the above place. Yours and Christ’s, saved and sanctified,

Jamestown, Ind., Aug. 7, ‘95.

Dear Saints of the Lord: We will now inform you of the Lord’s dealings with us since the Grand Junction meeting. On the 20th of June we came to Berne, Ind. began meeting the 21st in a school house six miles east of Berne, in which we had perfect victory and freedom in delivering the Word. The majority seemed to indorse the truth as never before, which resulted in quite a good interest. Many were made to see their condition, but the price being to great for them they would not yield. There was quite a good work wrought in the removing of prejudice and settling the truth there to stay. From there we went to Willshire, O. and met with the saints in three meetings. Sister Belle Stetler made her return to the Lord and was gloriously saved during the meeting at that place. From there we went to Bunker Hill, near Geneva, Ind. where again the Lord greatly blessed the meeting which resulted in the salvation of four precious souls. Six were baptized during the meeting, after which we met in a meeting with Bro. Worden and Co. at Willshire, for a few days. Came to Jamestown the sixth. Expect to soon put the battle in array here against sin. There has never been but about a week’s meeting of the saints here. We are looking for quite a good meeting. The people here have much to thank God for, as the crops here are principally very good, especially the corn crop, as the drouth has not hindered here as in other places we have been. Now I would just say to those that are expecting us to come to their place, we will get there as soon as the Lord permits. We are saved and under the blood.

Houston, Mo., Aug. 8, 1895.

Dear Trumpet: Our testimony is that we are saved. We are praising God for a wonderful camp meeting at Mayer, Mo., Oregon Co. There has been at Willow Springs a fellow by the name of Dawes who belonged to the Quaker sect. He came teaching anti-ordinance, and claiming God had sent him to our meeting to teach. God enabled us to discern his spirit through his abominable self- importance. Another came from Mammoth Spring by the name of Frank Wood, whom the devil has used t0 divide the little flock at that

place. After laboring with him last fall, and again this spring in April when we held our tent meeting there, at which time he refused to attend our meetings, and again at the opening of this meeting, we gave him until the close of the camp meeting, to repent and obtain salvation. He refused counsel and admonition. God led us to rebuke and publicly denounce him. We hereby warn all saints everywhere against him. As soon as all dead formality and these pernicious spirits had been gotten out of the way, God began to heal the sick, and cause the lame to walk. Bro. Harvey Watson came on the ground very sick with Ague and Yellow Jaundice; he was healed. His wife, sister Flora Watson, one of God’s anointed workers, was instantly healed of an attack of Pneumonia, accompanied with Neuralgia. Bro. Sweetman of Sharp Co.. Ark., (a former “Good Way”) fell from his horse last spring, crushing his thigh bone, and injuring his spine, so he could not bear his weight on his feet, and came walking on crutches. Tuesday morning, Aug. 30, during our six o’clock services we took his case to the Lord. No sooner had we claimed the promises than he arose without aid and began to leap and shout, embracing the brethren and praising God. The news spread, the people began to pour in to see him whom the Lord had so miraculously healed. Sinners began to enquire, “What must I do?” believers were sanctified. Hallelujah! Ordinance meeting Saturday afternoon, Aug. 3. Twenty-one baptized. About seventy participants in ordinance of feet washing, after which the Lord’s supper was administered. Meeting closed Sunday afternoon Aug. 4. Arrived here yesterday evening. Services begin to-night for one week: after that to Vichy, Mo., Lord willing. Time would fail us and the valuable space in the columns of our beloved Trumpet be overtaxed were we to recount the cases of Sister Jennie Chase, Sister Dills and four or five others who were healed during this meeting. Pray for us.

Bliss, Mich., Aug. 7, 1895.

From Howard City, Mich., we came north on the Grand Rapids and Indiana R. R., over a new and mostly waste and very dry region to Boyne Falls; where brethren met us and conveyed us about twenty miles to the Dwight camp meeting. Later we were reinforced by the coming of dear Bro’s. Kriebel, Pearl and my son Sidney. The dear saints had prepared a large bower under which to hold the meeting. There were but three tents on the ground. A few houses near by were pretty well filled. We found a dear good people here serving the Lord with all humility of mind and symplicity of soul.

The Lord did a glorious work in the meeting. Salvation flowed from the beginning. But a part of the time it was rainy, cold and windy, so that the attendance was small and we had to assemble in a house. But as soon as we could occupy the pavillion again the Lord wrought powerfully. On Friday ten boys and girls were saved; that night the power of God brought down men and women to the altar who cried to God for mercy and some for the cleansing. All were set free, and daily souls were saved, both grown and children. On Sabbath and again before we left Monday morning, the ordinance of baptism was administered by Bro. Levy in the beautiful Pine lake near the camp. In all there were fourteen obeyed the Lord and received his blessing upon their souls. On Sabbath night we met to observe the sacred ordinances of washing the saints’ feet, and the Lord’s supper. But first the Spirit led in a testimony service, after which six souls came to the altar and were saved. Then came the solemn and impressive services which were blessed to the hearts of about fifty participants.

We retired about twelve o’clock at night, very weak and weary, having put in over five hours preaching the everlasting gospel, with almost constant labors with souls for salvation and healing between services.

A brother had purposed to take us with team to the next camp meeting at Bliss. Though we were greatly worn we were glad of this offer in order to save the Lord’s means. But, behold, in the morning the Lord was sending down a precious rain. So we judged he saw we had need of rest, but instead of rest men and women began coming early in the morning for salvation and healing, and another halfday of solid work was put in for the Lord. How gloriously God did send down his power to sanctify and to heal, and to deliver from all the power of the adversary. All glory to the name of Jesus!

Bro’s McGonlan of E. Jordan, and Vern Tillottson of Dwight, were ordained elders by the laying on of hands. May the Lord greatly bless and use them in his vineyard.

At 1:30 on Monday we took our leave of the dear saints, upon their dock near the camp ground, and had a delightful little voyage of eight miles on the beautiful Pine lake, to Charlevoix, where we took train to Bay View. Here we tarried with Mr. and Sister Courtney and were refreshed with a good night’s rest. The next day — yesterday — we reached this place in the great forests and good soil of a new country. A rain having fallen, and it being cold and damp, we assembled in the school house last night, where the Lord began the camp meeting with the salvation of three souls. Pray for us. Yours in much love,

D. S. Warner and Co.

FLOATING BETHEL.

Steubenville, O., Aug. 5, 1895.

Dear Saints of the Living God: Since our last report we have had constant victory and the hand of the good Lord has been upon us. The meeting at Garret, Ind., was a very enjoyable one and I trust the fruits will abide for the general harvest. After the rich feast at the Grand Junction camp meeting I started for Grampian, Clearfield Co., Pa., distributing small tracts on the trains which opened the way to give much truth to interested passengers; also stopped with the saints one night at Du Bois, Pa. and it being their regular meeting might had a precious time and two came to the altar. I reached Grampian July 4 where the arrangements for a grove meeting had been made there. We met dear Bro. and Sister More of Michigan, who had been working faithfully to get God’s cause established which I think has been done in the face of great persecution, and the Lord was still adding to their number when we heard from them last. There were eight or ten baptized and we had a precious ordinance meeting. The saints from Du Bois came over both Sundays of the meeting. We stopped a few days with the saints at Du Bois on our return and here met Bro. McCoy and Co., whom the Lord is using much in opening up those ripe fields of West Pennsylvania.

Next we stopped with the church at Oak Ridge where we found the house packed with eager listeners, but we only could stay one evening, as we had promised to be at the tabernacle meeting in Pittsburg, Pa., which was the worst spiritual shaking the city has witnessed for a long time. If the forces arrayed would have been resisted longer it no doubt would have been an Ephesus rabble, as several papers had taken it up and it was read up almost like a prize fight. Below Is given a little of what the papers say at present.

“SAINTS” STILL HERE.

_____

U. S. Constitution in Their Favor. May Defy the Police.

_____

The apostles of the “Church of the Living God” who were ordered by the police to leave the city, have not “shaken the dust from their feet,” and there is a possibility that they may resist the authority of the public safety department. James S. McCreary, of 627 Trenton avenue, who is a letter carrier in the Pittsburg post office, called on Director Brown this afternoon in behalf of the evangelists and their cause, Mr. McCreary is a believer in the doctrines propagated by the “saints,” and has been looking up the law regarding the holding of religious services on leased ground and in meeting houses. He says that it has been reported that Director Brown will not permit the “saints1’ to hold meetings in the colored church on Brown alley or in any other building in the city. He had a conference with Mr. Brown this afternoon for the purpose of learning whether this order enamated from the head of the department. If it did not, he says, the probabilities are that meetings will be held in the little church; if it did, they may be held in spite of the police. Article 7, section 68, of the constitution of the United States, he says, forbids the municipal constitution from interfering with religious meetings when conducted peaceably in buildings or upon leased grounds. Mr. McCreary further send:

“I desire to appeal to the people in defense of the religious liberty of thousands of the best, purest-minded and most law-abiding citizens of this common wealth, and ask if the constitution of the United States and the laws of the state of Pennsylvania have been abrogated so that a man can be driven off his own property and out of the city for daring to worship God according to the Bible and the dictates of his own conscience. I refer to the order of Director Brown commanding the evangelists of the Church of the Living God to leave the city. He would not even allow them to make any defence whatever, but peremptorily ordered them to leave the city at once: and, furthermore, as soon as the daily papers came out publishing the order, the boys and young men began to destroy our property, and we had no authority to stop them, and were given no police protection. Our tabernacle was thrown down by the crowd and had to be packed during a driving vain storm, which will, in all probability, cause it to mildew and be destroyed. Director Brown claims to have two charges against us: First, circulating immoral literature; second, being a public nuisance. In regard to the first charge, there is nothing in the tract referred to (The Secret Vice), that any fair-minded person would object to, and certainly nothing contrary to the laws of the land. The United States postal laws are very strict in regard to immoral literature, and the postal authorities allow these tracts to be sent through the mails, which they would not do if they immoral or obscene. A law that would restrict the circulation of this tract would also restrict the circulation of the Bible, for the tract is made up largely of Quotations from the Bible. — Rom. 1:24:27.

“As regards being a public nuisance, this charge is so manifestly absurd on the face of it that it is hardly necessary to make a defence on that line, but I will ask a question: Is the preaching of the gospel and the reading of the Bible a public nuisance? If so, we were guilty, and as for noise or demonstration, we have not been as demonstrative as the Salvation Army or the Free Methodists are, and they are allowed to hold their worship right in the heart of the city. Now, why should we not be accorded the same privilege? If we were in Constantinople under the sultan we would not ask these questions, but as we are under the laws of the best government on the face of the globe we ask them, and appeal to the people in the name of justice and religious liberty.”

The “saints” did not hold any meetings yesterday; they had intended to, but thought it wiser not to resist the order of the police until after they had a conference with Director Brown. Mr. McCreary said that they had made arrangements to leave the city to-morrow, hut that much would depend on his talk with Director Brown.

The preachers began the fight by trying to turn the people away from the truth, by telling the people they could not live without sin, etc., but the truth swept away their refuge of lies. I was called away before the battle ended.

We are again at home on the Bethel. We commenced meeting at this place the 2d. The interest is increasing; last night the boat would not hold the people. The city authorities are assisting us here; the street meetings are very interesting; we find the suburbs of the city are the best for street work. We are needing more tracts for free distribution. Address, Floating Bethel, Steubenville, O.

Portland, Ore., Aug. 6, 1895.

Dear Trumpet Readers: Once more we greet you in the name of Jesus. After the Elberton, Wash., camp meeting, Bro. Byers and I went to Spokane, a city in eastern Washington, of about 30,000 inhabitants. It was an entirely new field for the pure gospel work. We went into the city entire strangers, but the Lord soon raised up friends and brethren in the place in fulfillment of his word. For three weeks the progress of the work was severely contested by the enemy, by false teachers, false doctrines, and other oppositions, but the pure Word from the beginning began to take root in the hearts of the people. And now souls are being saved, believers sanctified, and a number have been healed.

Last Saturday six or eight came forward for prayer, and on Sunday three were sanctified, and God also manifested his power in healing the sick. The power of God is being made manifest among the people according as they hear the gospel truth preached and believe. A man by the name of Thompson, attended the meeting and accepted the truth, and hearing the Word taught on divine healing, desired prayer for his wife who had been afflicted for sixteen years, with rheumatism and other complicated diseases. For six years she has been an invalid, and has not walked for over two years, her right leg being drawn up, and become stiff at the knee joint. She was visited and the Word expounded on divine healing, and she remarked: “I believe this is no humbug, because it is all in the Book.” Her faith began to grasp the promises of the Word as fast as she could comprehend the truth, and after anointing and prayer, she was able to stand up and turn around. She was visited again on Saturday, and as we laid hands upon her, asking God to touch her with his healing power, we could hear the cracking sounds of the tendons and bones of the stiffened knee as the healing power was manifest. She immediately arose and took three or four steps. Sunday morning we again visited her and had prayer and laid on hands again, and this time she arose and walked half way across the room alone, putting her heel down on the floor, the limb being almost straight. Also her left arm which was drawn up and stiff at elbow, is being straightened, and is being healed just as fast as her faith grasps the promises. She was long ago given up by the doctors as incurable, but we expect to soon hear of her being able to walk the streets in perfect health.

Bro. Daugherty was with us a few days, then went on to a place near Woodburn, Ore. Bro G. W. Bailey and company came from Palouse, with a four-horse team, and stopped a couple days in the meeting. They are on their way to Dakota, and will hold meetings along the way. Bro Byers will remain a week, then leaving Brother and Sister Martin in charge of the tent, he will join us at the Woodburn camp meeting, where I expect to arrive to-night, after which will probably go to Gridley, Cal., then to the southern part of the state.

The pure gospel is wonderfully spreading in various places throughout this northwest country. There are many whom the Lord has led out of sectism, and into the true light of the full gospel, who have never heard any preaching on that line, and when they hear the truth expounded it meets a hearty amen in their souls. This last great reformation is of God, and it is He who is calling his children together and enabling them to discern the true church — the body of Christ; and see the evil results of the divisions of sectism.

Those desiring to write to me can address me at Los Angeles, Cal., until further notice, or letters sent to Grand Junction, Mich, will be forwarded if requested. Pray much for us.

E. E. Byrum.

Dear Saints of God: I am praising God for full and free salvation. I cannot praise him enough for what he is doing for me. God shewed me last spring that he wanted me to preach his gospel. I promised him by his help I would get out of debt and go; he has blessed me with good health and is helping me to get out of debt. Praise his name for ever! I would like to go with some one older than I am if the Lord wills. We would like to have a tent meeting here after the meeting at Philipsburg if the Lord wills. Who can come? We would like for a company or two to come. Pray that God may teach me his will concerning me.

Dear Saints of God: I feel led by the good Lord to write my testimony and tell how the work is getting along here. I know that I am saved, sanctified wholly and kept by the power of God. Praise his holy name for saving my soul! The brethren have been having good meetings for about four months. Some precious souls were saved and sanctified. Praise our God, he is mighty to save! We observed the ordinances and our souls were truly blessed. During the meetings there were twelve happy souls followed Christ in baptism. Oh how sweet to follow Jesus! Oh how I do praise God this morning that we can keep all his commandments! I know that God has a few people here in this wicked place. I pray God to send some of his workers this way. If any of God’s children that are in the work come through here at any time, we would be so glad to have them stop off here and stay as long as the Lord leads. This place is located between the Southern Pacific R. R. and the Atlantic and Pacific R. R. Any one can stop off and come here from either road. Your saved and sanctified sister,

WISDOM.

_____

WHAT IS WISDOM?

Prov. 9:10 — The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy is understanding.

Job 28:28 — And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

ITS VALUE.

Job 28 — Surely there is a vein for the silver, and a place for gold where they fine it. Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone. He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection: the stones of darkness, and the shadow of death. The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant; even the waters forgotten of the foot: they are dried up, they are gone away from men. As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under it is turned up as it were fire. The stones of it are the place of sapphires: and it hath dust of gold. There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture’s eye hath not seen: the lion’s whelps have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed by it. He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots. He cutteth put rivers among the rocks; and his eyes seeth every precious thing. He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the thing that is bid bringeth he forth to light. But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding? Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living. The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me. It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof. It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire. The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold. No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies. The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold. Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding? Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air. Destruction and death say, We have heard the fame thereof with our ears. God understandeth the way thereof, and knoweth the place thereof. For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven; to make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure. When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder; then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out. And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

Eccl. 9:18 — Wisdom is better than weapons of war; but one sinner destroyeth much good.

Prov. 8:11 — For wisdom is better than rubies: and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

ITS SOURCE.

Dan. 2:20, 21 — Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: and he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.

1 Kings 3:5-12 — In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. And Solomon said, Thou hast showed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousnees, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or to come in. And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people. And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but has asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

5:12 — And the Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.

HOW OBTAINED.

Jas. 1:5 — If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not: and it shall be given him.

1 Cor. 3:18 — Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

HOW TO USE IT.

Jas. 3:13 — Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

Psa. 90:12 — So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Mat. 10:16 — Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Psa. 101:2 — I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

Col. 4:5 — Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

WISDOM OF THE WORLD COMPARED WITH THE WISDOM OF GOD.

Jer. 9:23 — Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his own wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches.

1 Cor. 2:4-7 — And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory. 13 — Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

3:19 — For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God: for it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

1:17-29 — For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish, foolishness; but unto us which are saved, it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: but we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; but unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; and base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: that no flesh should glory in his presence.

THE CHARACTERISTICS OF WISDOM.

1 Cor. 1:30 — But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.

Jas. 3:17 — But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peacable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

A GIFT OF THE SPIRIT.

1 Cor. 12:8 — For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit.

BENEFITS OF WISDOM.

Prov. 3:35 — The wise shall inherit glory: but shame thall be the promotion of fools.

Prov. 9:8 — Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. 10 — The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy is understanding.

15:7 — The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

29:11 — A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

30:24-28 — There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise: the ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer; the conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks; the locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands; the spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces.

Dan. 12:3 — And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness, as the stars forever and ever. 10 — Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

PAUL’S PRAYER FOR OTHERS THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE WISDOM.

THE EPHESIANS. Eph. 1:15-18 — Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.

THE COLOSSIANS. Col. 1:3-11 — We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints, for the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth: as ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellow servant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ; who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit. For this cause we also, since the day we heard of it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God: strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness.

Dear Trumpet Readers: I wrote to the children of the Lord to pray for my boy who had a very bad eye and a fester on the ball. It did not look as if it was possible for it to a be healed without causing blindness. But all praises be to God the great physician! It was healed without earthly remedy, for he did not let anything be put on it. To God be all the glory!

Dear Saints: I feel led to send in my testimony. I am standing upon the solid foundation, Christ Jesus my Savior, and rejoicing to know that we have the victory over the beast, out of all sectism, saved and sanctified, praising God for every good. Ask an interest in the prayers of all saints that I may ever be found faithful low down at Jesus’ feet, also for my unsaved husband and family that they all may learn that there is real joy in the service of the Master.

Dear Saints of God: We feel like it would strengthen some of the saints if we would testify to the healing power of God. On last Saturday night the dear Lord healed our little daughter. She had the fever about three days. We obeyed James 5:14, 15, and they anointed her in the name of the dear Lord and prayed and laid on hands, and on Sunday morning she was healed of fever, Praise the name of the dear Lord! And we feel like that we can’t do enough for him. We ask all of the saints to pray for us.

Dear Saints of God: In the last six months the light has been shining on me, and as it came I said, Lord, I will walk in the light. I am determined to walk in Christ and obey his word. And I ask any that know me and know where I stood, if they have aught against me, to forgive me. I know this morning I am. clear as heaven and just love to meet with the people of God, that are on the straight line. The devil has many lines and they look almost like the Bible line, but when we examine them by the Word we see how corrupt they are. The Lord help us all to stay on the Bible line. We wish that some deep Holy Ghost man would visit us this fall. God bless al the dear saints. Your humble brother in Christ,

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ: I can say with many more that I lived awhile in Babylon, and I would read the Word, and I saw that they were not living up to what they professed, and it made a wretched sinner of me. I thought I was as good as many of them without a profession. I was first a member of the Baptists and then a member of the Campbellite sect, and at last quit professing at all. Praise the Lord for saving my soul! The first sermon I heard I knew that it was the true gospel. I was saved only about three weeks until my husband was saved. And praise the Lord we was not saved long until the devil commenced with his persecutions. But we know that whosoever will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecutions. Pray for me and my husband. Your saved sister,

Mollie Lueke.

Dear Saints of God: I believe it would be to the glory of God, to write my testimony and tell what he has done for me. I have been saved and out in this blessed evening light for over two years. Oh praise the dear Lord for the sweet joy and happiness I find in serving him, and for that sweet abiding peace in my soul that the world cannot give neither can it take away! Glory be to Jesus! Truly the dear Savior has been teaching me some precious lessons, although some of them have been very bitter ones, but praise the Lord he has brought me out victorious, and enabled me to take a more decided stand for him. And since I have truly given up all, and made an unconditional surrender to God, the sweet joy of heaven fills my soul continually, and my experience grows brighter day by day, although the enemy tries hard to overthrow me. But I realize its our precious privilege to reign in this life by one Christ Jesus, triumphant over all the powers of darkness. Praise the Lord for the freedom we have in him. I praise

the Lord for a salvation that saves to the uttermost and for perfect victory in my soul, and a real desire to sink down deeper and deeper in Jesus. Your sister saved sanctified, and kept by the power of God,

Dear Saints: For the glory of God I will give my testimony again. I had been a victim of rheumatism for about forty years, sometimes lame and sometimes bedfast, most of the time in very severe pain. Two years ago Bro. Cole and Co. held a camp meeting here in Topeka. I was anointed in the name of Jesus; they laid hands on me and prayed for my healing, and bless the Lord I was healed. I felt a warmth in my limbs as never before and needed less cover on my bed. In two or three days could hop over the ropes that held the tent, whereas before I could hardly step over them, and at home had to go up and down steps one at a time, like a child. Now I go up and down like any one else. At first was tempted with symptoms or sharp pains darting through my limbs, but I would drop work and go to the Lord about it, and praise the Lord, he always heard and relieved me; and in about three weeks I even had no more symptoms. And now bless his name, whatever comes over me, I only need to take to him in faith believing. Just yesterday I was healed of a severe cough and croupy hoarseness. My neighbor said, “You put extra cover on you, that’s what helps you.” The Lord has the glory, I know what he has done and is still doing, not only for myself, but has blessed me in helping and teaching others. Praise his holy name forever and ever! My age is sixty-three. I take care of two little, grand children and do the work for five. I have much to thank the Lord for; bless his dear name! Yours in the one body,

Mrs. Leah Sell.

Dear Saints of God: As I have been reading some testimonies in the Trumpet, I am led to write my first testimony and experience to the Trumpet. As God has been so good to me I want to tell to all what he has done and is doing for me. In the year 1893 Oct. 20, he pardoned my sins. Praise his name! Heart purity was taught me, so I began seeking for it, praying earnestly for it until in December, being at home, I was reading the Testament through. Having read to the book of Luke I began at the 1st chapter and read to the 8th, finding in the 7th chapter, “And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.” I found my faith was too weak, so I began looking for more faith. I began praying earnestly to God, until I had the witness that my prayers were answered. I was made to arise with shouts and praise to God. As time passed on, this doctrine was preached, seeming to me so strong, and having not the right instructions, I became bothered and did not know where I was. I have been praising God all the way, and find him a help in time of need. As I have been near the door of death, he was there; and wherever I am, he is there. How I long to see him as he is! I am soon expecting the trump to sound, when we shall meet the Lord in the air. What a meeting that will be! And we shall ever be with the Lord. But as I traveled on my way, being bothered on sanctification, it pleased the Lord to send Brother and Sister Green and Brother Peterman to this place and God gave them power to explain it clearer to my mind. So I now know how to take God’s word, for it is true. I must praise God for giving me light on the one way foy his children to walk, and placing me in the way. I ask you to join in prayer with me for my wife, that she may be thoroughly purged from her sins, and arise and walk in newness of life. Pray for me that I may be kept by the power of God. Your brother saved through Jesus’ blood,

John Turnidge.
