Your Mission.

—:o:—

If you cannot on the ocean
Sail among the swiftest fleet,
Rocking on the highest billows,
Laughing at the storms you meet,
You can stand among the sailors,
Anchored yet within the bay,
You can lend a hand to help them,
As they launch their boat away.

If you are too weak to journey,
Up the mountain, steep and high,
You can stand within the valley,
While the multitudes go by.
You can chant in happy measure,
As they slowly pass along;
Though they may forget the singer
They will not forget the song.

If you have not gold and silver
Ever ready to command,
If you cannot toward the needy
Reach an ever open hand,
You can visit the afflicted,
O’er the erring you can weep,
You can be a true disciple,
Sitting at the Savior’s feet.

If you cannot in the conflict
Prove yourself a soldier true,
If where the fire and smoke are thickest,
There’s no work for you to do,
When the battle-field is silent,
You can go with careful tread,
You can bear away the wounded,
You can cover up the dead.

Do not then stand idly waiting
For some greater work to do,
Fortune is a lazy goddess,
She will never come to you.
Go and toil in any vineyard,
Do not fear to do or dare,
If you want a field of labor,
You can find it anywhere.

IS A JUSTIFIED MAN A SON OF GOD?

—:o:—

ALL kind of extravagant, and erroneous notions in these times of deception are developing, for want of the Spirit of God to guide men into all truth. The trouble with men is, they have a form of godliness, a mere sect religion, and not to witness of the Spirit to divine sonship, and then seeking sanctification in that condition, they get humble, and nearer to God, and begin to feel that they are a son, and then think themselves wholly sanctified. And having for the first time the real feelings of a son of God, they identify sonship with the second grace, whereas they have only the first plain of Gospel experience. A brother in the West, whom we hope is sincere, holds that “a man is not a new creature until sanctified. Not Christ’s, nor in Christ. That they have not the Spirit at all until wholly sanctified. That they are a child, but not a son.” These views are based chiefly upon the fact that, the justified have the carnal mind, which is entirely against God, is not subject to God, neither indeed can be. Also that the flesh is not yet crucified. And they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” — Rom. 8:7, 8.

The “flesh,” from “sarka” denotes the inborn unrighteous nature. To understand this subject in the light, of the Word of God, we must learn to make a distinction between the inbeing of this inward foe, and our living in him. The former implies that we have not yet had the “flesh” “the old man” destroyed. The second implies that our life is carried by his current, that we are in his controlling power. “They that are in the flesh cannot please God.” Namely, in the control of the flesh. As the fifth verse explains, to be “in the flesh,” is to be “after the flesh,” and “mind the things of the flesh.” As also the 13th verse, “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but it ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body (body of sin) ye shall live.” This text is a key to the seventh chapter. It applies the picture there drawn to unsanctified brethren at Rome. While in 8:2, the Apostle testifies that he, himself was free from that dual state. The language of 8:13, shows that the parties there represented were born of God, had spiritual life. Else they could not die, by yielding to the bent of tee flesh, or body of sin. Hence the destruction of the flesh, or body of sin, is an experience for quickened, or spiritually resurrected children of God. For sinners We no Spiritual life to lose, cannot die. The newly born soul then has the “carnal mind,” the “flesh,” the “old man,” “the body of sin,” – these are all the same thing – but he does not live in obedience to him, but keeps the evil bent in subjection to the new nature, by the power of the grace of God. And is continually longing to be fully delivered from him by the sanctifying blood of Christ. Though “the carnal mind is enmity against God, not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” —Rom. 8:7. Does not this prove that the justified person, still indwelt by this foe, cannot please God, nor obey Him. There is a distinction between the new born child of God, and the carnal-mind — want-to-sin element within him. The new life takes sides with God against the old life, and cries out for his destruction, and while in that attitude he does please God and maintain Spiritual life, and with Gospel teaching, will soon “mortify,” “put to death,” — the old man. But if this opposition to the inborn foe is allowed to subside, and he begin to compromise with the foe in his nature, and yield to the “motions of sin” within, and partake of what, this evil bent lusts after, thus he begins to “live in the flesh,” and dies. Not one man out of a hundred who has not gone on unto perfect holiness, maintains a complete resistance of this inner foe, and thereby retains the real joy of justification, and adoption. But most that have kept up a confession of Christ for any considerable length of time, without attaining perfect purification, have but a form, and a religious cloaked morality.

Though the New Testament points to entire sanctification, and urges every new born soul on unto that plain, as the proper ground on which to insure the preservation of our justification, and sonship. It is nevertheless true that this first grace is a complete work. Justification, which is coincident with pardon, adoption, and regeneration, or being born again, removes all our sins, all guilt and condemnation, brings “peace with God,” constitutes us the Lord’s, in the relation of a son of God, implants the grace of God, the Spirit of adoption, which is a new moral life, or nature — making us new creatures in Christ Jesus. And the new life inwrought, has the ascendency over the old man, so long as the soul keeps perfectly true to God. But the carnal nature, being a foe right in the temple, is very apt, as we have seen, to insinuate some of his lusts into the life, and work death to the new nature, unless destroyed. The idea that a soul is not in Christ, and not Christ’s until wholly sanctified, is contrary to the Scriptures, and can only remain in the mind of a person whose supposed justification was not up to Bible justification. In the same prayer in which Christ prayed the Father to sanctify the disciples, He said, “they are thine, and all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.” — John 17:9, 10. They were the Lord’s then before sanctified wholly. The Corinthians were addressed as “The Church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus.” — Regeneration is sanctification begun, and what we usually call sanctification, is properly entire sanctification, as we see in 2 Cor. 7:1; 1 Thess. 5:23. Though carnal — not yet wholly sanctified — they were “babes in Christ.” — 1 Cor. 3:1. Many other Scriptures prove that the first grace inducts us into Christ.

The justified have the Spirit of adoption, the Spirit of Christ, as the whole New Testament teaches, and every born again soul knows by happy experience. The Word says, — Gal. 3:29, “If ye be Christ’s then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Namely heirs of the inheritance of perfect holiness.

“Now if ally man have not the spirit of Christ he is none of His.” — Rom. 8:9. No one can receive the inheritance of spiritual Canaan until an heir, no one is an heir until he is Christ’s, and no one is Christ’s until he has the Spirit of Christ. Therefore the possession of the Spirit of Christ — the second person — must precede the reception of the Sanctifier — the third person. In other words, you must be a son of God, and have the Spirit of Christ in your heart crying Abba Father, and witnessing that you are a new creature, unknown to this world. — 1 John 3:1. Not of the world even as Christ was not of the world. — John 17:16.

Let all teachers and workers in the vineyard of the Lord give special attention to the necessity of clear Bible justification before allowing them to seek the second grace. Do not lake the person’s first reply to the question, for thousand, “justify themselves,” because they live about as the mass of sect professors, when they are poor backsliders, if ever converted at all. Let the priests well examine the sacrifice, and know that it is a “lamb without blemish,” — clear in sonship — before presuming to offer to God for holiness. No person is fit to consecrate for holiness when not as clear in his soul as at the instant of pardon. No person can possibly obtain entire sanctification, that is not living free from the commission of sin. No person is justified before God that practices anything in which God does not justify him. No man is justified in his life that is not justified of God in his soul, and no man is justified in his soul that is not justified in his life. Yea, no man is justified before God who practices anything that is doubtful in his own conscience.

A man once came to the altar for sanctification, who very positively declared that he knew he was clearly justified. We asked him if he was justified in the sight of God for using tobacco. No, he remarked that he could not say he was justified in that practice. We told him that if he was not justified in it, he was condemned before God for it. We admonished him to repent. He pretended to seek God while there, but the next day was brawling and spewing out his shame. Had we taken his word for his justification, he would no doubt have made a profession of holiness, and only been a double cloaked hypocrite, and child of the devil. Any person that confesses that he is not a son of God, not in Christ, and without the Spirit of Christ, and not a new creature, nor yet Christ’s, admonish such to repent and be converted. O beloved, be very slow to believe that sect members are justified. When you find one in a thousand that is justified, you will see such a marked contrast between him and the masses, that it will be very noticable. Amen!

DOCTRINE OF DEVILS.

—:o:—

SATAN is trying to sink the cause of sacred truth, by thrusting out all manner of deluded children of his own, who preach against sects, — the present great issue — and at the same time mix in every abominable doctrine of his own, to turn good men away from the “present truth,” and call of God to come out of babylon, by means of the corrupt doctrines, which they associate with this holy call. Among the latter day deceived instruments of the devil, is one Dewane D. Babcock, of Cohocton N. Y., whose productions should not be suffered in any house of the saints, no more than deadly poison should be left laying carelessly about a house in reach of children. He kicks against the ordinances instituted by Christ, denies the Christian Sabbath, or Lord’s day, and worse yet denies the divinity of Christ. The following blasphemous words should put every honest child of God on his or her guard against tolerating such a sheet in thier house.

“Christ was only a man in whom God’s justice and kindness and mercy and goodness were established, in whom God is with man: possessing no more power than any other man who obeys and walks with God, the first born among many brethren, whom God has exalted above all other men, as their king, leader, shepherd, Lord.” To say that “Christ was only a man,” is a direct contradiction of the Bible. To say He is man is truth, and to say He is the Son of man is also true, but to say he “was only a man,” is an impious insult to God, and a Satanic falsehood. For the whole Bible no more teaches His manhood, than His Godhood, or supreme divinity. He is declared to have been “God manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, and received up to glory.”

Every name of the Deity, and every attribute of the Deity is ascribed to Him. But the natural attributes of God are never ascribed to saints. That Christ said “The works that I do shall he — that believes on me — do” is all true. But He explains it thus, “If ye shall ask any petition in my name, that will I do.” — See John 14:12, 13. So if this man were not blinded by the devil, he would see that Christ is so much greater than any saint in power, that “without Him we can do nothing,” and that when we “do the works that He does, it is simply Christ Himself doing the works through us. We have not now time and space, nor do we at all think it necessary to mass the Scriptures that positively assert the supreme divinity of Christ, from every possible standpoint; and the trinity of persons in the Godhead. Bible readers, whose eyes are not blinded by spirits of devils, all read this in their Bibles, and know the truth. The Word of God requires that we should honor the Son, even as we do the Father, but this were idolatry if Christ were “only a man.” But if this blind guide knew Christ he would know better than to teach such shocking blasphemy. But he only talks about a historic Christ. He says, “Christ was only a man.” In Use name of the Lord we invite Mr. Babcock to the Christ, that is, the present living Christ of the holy Bible, and Savior of the world. And when he finds Him in the salvation of his soul from the kingdom ha will know him as the Divine, Almighty, Omnicient, and infinite Savior. Even the “Son Jesus Christ, which is the true God and eternal life.” And having this omnipotent Christ living just now in his soul, he will always talk of him as a present Christ. All men that have such base and erroneous ideas of Christ, only know of Him historically. An experimental knowledge of Christ in the soul, is a correct knowledge of Him us He is.

OUR CONVERSATION IN CHRIST.

—:o:—

BUT I say unto you that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give an account thereof in the day of judgment. — Matt 12:36.

This is very true; but from the conversation we hear from professors of to day, we might conclude there will be no judgment. These words uttered by the Savior Himself will condemn millions of men when they stand before the King of kings, and Lord of lords. “For by thy words thou shall be justified, and by thy words thou shall be condemned.” “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace to the hearers.” Jesus says, “From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” The Lord has promised to create in us a clean heart which will be filled with the fruits of the Spirit. “Be ye therefore followers of God as dear children, and walk in love as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God, for a sweet smelling savour; but fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not be once named among you as becometh saints. Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: (consistent, New Translation) but rather giving of thanks.” Praise the Lord! When the old man is crucified, all such language ceases: we need not then have our tongue bridled; for evil communications are the fruits of the old man. “Put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Our conversation should always be as becometh the children of God.

“Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God. But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation.”

We are admonished by the Apostle to be holy in all manner of conversation: so whatever our occupation may be we can glorify God in our conversation, walking worthy of God who hath called you unto His kingdom and glory. “Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do in word or deed, do all to the glory of God.” “Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness?”

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time because the days are evil. “Who in a wise man and endued with knowledge among you, let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness and of wisdom.” We should have our conversation as becomes saints of God; for Paul says. “Our conversation is in Heaven from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

“Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have, for he hath said, I will never leave nor forsake thee.” “Put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind;” “For God hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.”

Your brother saved, sanctified and kept by the power of God.

WAS IT CHRIST?

—:o:—

There are many who say within their hearts; “Oh if I had been here when Christ was on earth, I would not have mistreated Him as the Jews did.” Do you ever stop to think about what Christ said? Truly I say unto you in as much as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me. — Matt. 25:40. Do you ever mistreat a christian by speaking evil of him or by taking advantage of him in your dealings? Do you ever see a christian in want of the things that are necessary to his welfare, and fail to administer to his wants? If so, you have done the same to Christ. Have you ever rejected the advice and earnest entreaty of a christian, when he has been entreating you to forsake your evil ways and turn to God? Do you hear, receive, and obey the straight Word of God when it is preached to you by His ministers, or do you reject their teachings? Christ has said to His followers, He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me. — Luke 10:16. If you have failed to hear, or despised one of the followers of Christ, you have rejected both Christ and God. Verily, verily I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. —  John 13:20. Did you ever make fun and scoff at a sanctified person? If you have, then you have done the same to Christ; for both He that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one; for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren. — Heb. 2:11. Praise God for this unity which exists between Christ and His children, between Christ and God, between the true husband and wife. I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. — 1 Cor. 13:3. If we love God we must love His children. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? — 1 John 4:20. Christ is the true vine and and every true christian is a branch. Now if you mistreat the branches it will affect she vine, for the branches are a part of the vine. The same sap runs through both. In like manner the same spirit is in both Christ, and His members. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ he is none of His. — Rom. 8:9. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. Now ye are the body of Christ and members in particular. — 1 Cor. 12:13.

Let all be careful how they treat the members of Christ; for there is a complete unity between Christ and every one that is born of the Spirit. When we receive a child of God we receive Christ. Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever receives me, receiveth not me, but Him that sent me — Mark 9:37. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a a righteous man’s reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little

“GOD IS LOVE.”

—:o:—

TO the dear brethren and sisters of the GOSPEL TRUMPET: We greet you in the name of Jesus, giving glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This I have experienced in my journey along this straight and narrow way: no way is more beautifully illustrated than in the lesson concerning the father, and his prodigal son-Luke 15th chapter. It is written, “God is love.” Now when the son starts for father’s home, the lather saw him coming when yet a great way off. The loving father was watching, and ran to meet him, love prompted him to watch, yes, love caused him to make haste to meet the object of his love; love in the father’s bosom did not cause him to find fault with the broken hearted, weary one; but there were kind words, a loving kiss, and fond embraces. He would not hear anything of blame, even from the erring one. (O may we learn a lesson from this. When God does not want to look upon our sins, we have no right to be spending our time grieving over what we have done, but come in humility and contrition before God, and then we will see how soon we will be turned away from our own sins, and pointed to the fatted calf, or in other words, —  the blood that taketh away the sin of the world.)

From what I understand, this feast represents the Gospel feast, which Christ prepared for every poor prodigal; “God is love.” He knows sin causes aching hearts and throbbing brows, but love turns the sin-sick soul to the remedy — the precious blood that atones, and cleanses from all sin — giving joy and gladness of heart, causing the weary one to rejoice and leap for joy. Again, the father manifests his love by taking the ragged and tattered garment of sin and disgrace, and giving a beautiful garment of Christ’s righteousness.

Then as He is, so are we in this world. Praise God! Some talk about putting on gold, because it reads that the father put a ring on his hand; but I do not understand it in that light. As a ring has no end, so the promises of God to His children have no end, and I believe it means the promises in God’s holy Word which are given to His children. Praise God! Oh! the love of God, how wonderful! but how little do the best of us know about it. O that the Holy Spirit may quicken our understanding, and cause us to do to each erring one just as the father did to his erring son, and then we shall not be so barren and unfruitful. Jesus said “I, and if I be lifted up will draw all men unto me.” The Holy Ghost teaches “God is love.’’ Then it is love that draws: yes, the goodness of God that leads men unto repentance. But while so much love is manifested to the erring son by the father, not so by the selfrighteous brother, who is full of fault-finding toward the father, because of his amazing love to his erring brother, and censure the sins or errors of his poor brother, who had fallen so low, and was in need of kind words to help him to live a better life. But like the pharisees, he had plenty of stones ready to stone him to death. No chance for the poor soul to retrace his footsteps if he wished it ever so much. In the first place, he had spent his property, and came to beggary; he had been with evil characters, and therefore brought disgrace upon the family, and to think that his father should now make so much fuss over the degraded wretch that he would not own as brother through his pride and anger, but taunted the father by saying “As soon as this thy son was come, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.” O that God may open the eyes of all self-righteous ones, and let them see their likeness in this poor fault-finding, proud, angry and evil speaking son and brother, who have need of salvation just as much as his poor prodigal brother.

I write this because it has been on my mind some time, and in answer to prayer has come to me. Perhaps some poor erring one may have a chance for some one to give them help in their hour of need, if so look up, the father is ready to receive you just the same way as he did the prodigal, no matter how many may stand around ready to stone you to death. Look to the blood, it is between you and God, and it cannot fail in your ease; God looks at the blood and not at your sins, just as soon as you ask in faith in Jesus’ name. O that God would hear and answer prayer, and let every one that names the name of Jesus, see that love is the fulfilling of the law, and not be so ready to look down upon each other: but ever be looking to the one that came to take away the sins of the world, and point the erring one thereto. I am writing from experience. I have been too much like the selfrighteous brother in the parable, in my past life, and I have been given over into the hands of satan like Peter of old, and when I came to myself God received me, as Christ received Peter, “all in love.” So I can truly say, “God is love.”

We desire to be a soul winner for Jesus, and the secret is love. Do not cast stones if you wish to win. “He that winneth souls is wise.” O may we all be wise then, in this matter. They that turn many to righteousness, shall shine as the stars for ever and ever. Amen! This is the sincere desire of my heart.

Pray for us, that our faith fail not, and all the brothers and sisters; also the children in Christ whom God has given to me. We need your prayers.

Your sister in Christ, saved.

Dear brother, I have been attending the Free Methodist meetings here some time, and there are some what divided, and are not advancing. The Con’g, sect goes through with the old dead form, and the M. E. sect the same. There are a few earnest seekers here, who are devotedly seeking to serve God, and we with all our hearts entreat you to come and preach the Gospel truths to this sinful people if possible; we greatly need the Word of God made clear and plain, and without doubt many souls, could be saved: for the hearts of many are led to see the need of a Savior. Now the few here that are serving God on the Bible line, and wish so earnestly to hear the glorious way preached, field possession of a house fitted up with seals, in which the Free Methodists hold their services at present, which is joyously opened to you. In regard to financial offers, we are all poor, but will gladly receive you into our homes, and do all we can toward bearing expenses. Please let us hear from you soon. Yours respectfully.

NEWS FROM FIELD.

—:o:—

Lacota, Mich.

Dear Saints of the Living God: — Grace, mercy and peace be unto you all for Jesus’ sake. Amen!

I left my home in Lee, Nov. 24, for a short time to assist Bro. A. B. Palmer and others hold a meeting at the Linsley school house, in Allegan Co. Mich. But we were there only a few days when the sectarians began to oppose the truth and manifested their hatred against the Word of God and His children, by closing the school house against us. But thank God, this did not prevent the work of the Lord. Friday night, Dec. 2nd, we held meeting at Bro. Tripp’s, four at the altar that night. There were a few in that place who were willing to seek the Lord. Praise God, they found Him precious to their souls, for which we do thank God. We closed meeting there that night, and went from there to the Marble school house and had meeting Sunday and Sunday night. This school house is about two miles and a half from the Lindsley school house. Oh how the dear Lord blessed our souls. Hallelujah to His holy name for all His love to us. At night there were ten at the altar, some for pardon and some for sanctification. We could stay no longer in that place, Bro. Palmer having a call to Ohio to hold a meeting. Monday he took train for Bangor, and sister Ella Dunkelburger and myself were conveyed in a wagon by Brother Marke to Bro. R. Johnson’s where Pro’s A. J. Kilpatrick and S. L. Speck are holding a meeting in the name of the Lord, and for the salvation of poor souls that are in sin. Oh how our hearts did rejoice to hear of so many souls being saved from sin and the devil in that place. Amen!

Oh I do praise the Lord so much for the deliverance of my soul from the devil. He has saved me completely from the pride of this world and every thing that is not of God. Three weeks ago last Sunday night, Nov. 13, the Lord for Christ’s sake called me back to His fold. Oh glory to His name forever! He gave me the desire of my heart. I do praise the Lord for the way He is leading me. Oh I do love this way for I have taken the Lord for my companion, and He leads me in the right way. Hallelujah to Jesus! The Lord Jesus saves me just now and sanctities me in spite of the devil. Your sister washed in the blood of Jesus, tried by the fire.

To the dear saints, scattered abroad we send greeting in the name, of our precious redeemer, Jesus Christ, who purchased our redemption and washed us from all our sins, to Him he glory for ever more. Amen! We are saved just now and filled with the mighty power of God. O hallelujah to God and the Lamb! The way grows brighter before us than ever before. Wife and I left home Nov. 25, for Charlevoix Co. On our way we stopped at Kendall and remained two evenings. We had meeting in the hall the first evening, and the mighty power of God was upon the meeting from the commencement and continued with us until the last. Friday evening we gathered in Bro. Jewel’s house to observe the ordinance of God’s house. Oh hallelujah! the room was filled and overflowing with the power; such heavenly sweetness filled all of our souls. The Church in this place had never experienced such before: it seemed to blend every heart into one. O blessed be God! the very songs from Heaven seemed to be wafted to us on the breezes as they came to us from the heavenly clime. O glory be to Jesus for the mighty filling, thrilling, overflowing power of God. Bless His holy name! We had expected to find the Church somewhat in a commotion here, but we were most gloriously mistaken. Some have separated themselves, sensual I having not the Spirit, trying to draw disciples after them by starting an opposite meeting; but only three or four in all were drawn away, and it settled the rest into God more than ever and established them in the most holy faith. These meetings were the most glorious and powerful we have ever experienced with the Church at Kendall. One dear soul saw the spirit of opposition and withdrew from if, and promised God to forever stand clear here after. All who were of the opposite spirit took no part or lot in the meeting what ever; not even in testimony. God bless and save them with an eternal salvation for Jesus’ sake. Amen!

Wednesday morning, Nov. 30, took train at Kalamazoo for Morley, found our dear Bro. W. N. Smith, Bro. F. Jacobson and Bro. Green at the depot ready to convey us to the place where meetings are being held. O glory to Jesus! it is glorious, this flying in the midst of Heaven having the everlasting Gospel to preach. Our heart is becoming enlarged everyday. We had meeting Wednesday evening at the house of dear Bro. Green’s, which is a holy place and entirely consecrated unto God for His service. The Holy Ghost fell upon us which caused many to leap and bound and shout His praises. There are about seventeen here who are out upon the clean sea of glass and filled with the Spirit of God. We expect to remain here as long as the Lord wills, after which we expect to go to Charlevoix Co. and labor for the Lord. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all for ever more. Amen!

Your saved Bro. tried and made white.

Dear Saints of God: — I do rejoice the thought that God has forgiven my sin for His dear Son’s sake, and that I am sweetly saved and trusting in the precious promises of His Word. I thank God that I am standing where I am, and that circumstances are as well with me as they are. I feel that the blessed Jesus is ay best friend, and he is always a present help in time of need. ner and band to spread the Word of God in its purity. Much good was done and many souls were brought to repentance through their labors. May God bless them and may they be enabled to bring many souls into the fold of Christ, is my prayer, O I praise God for what He has done and is still doing for me. I am still receiving more light on His blessed Word, and by His help I am walking in the light as I receive it. Praise His holy name! Your sister saved and redeemed by the blood of Christ.

For some time I have felt led to tell the readers of the TRUMPET that I am free from babylon. Yes glory to Jesus! I am walking in the light and freedom which no one can enjoy, white bound up in the sects. I have tried to serve God for thirty years. I first belonged to the M. E. sect, then the U. B., then the Wesleyan; but now I belong to Jesus only. Praise his holy name! For two years I have tried to live a sanctified life, willing to do the will of God; but I could not see the sin of belonging to the sects. I thought like many others, that God’s cause could not be carried on without organized churches, but now I can see that Jesus is able to take care of his Church winch He set up while here on earth. I felt it my duty to attend to the ordinance of feet washing with the saints which I did several times, but did not have that peace and joy that I have now. Last August, while attending the meeting held by the saints near Merrill, God showed me the way so plain that I saw I must leave the sects and walk out in the light, or eternal darkness was my doom. O such glory filled my soul when I said, “yes Lord, I will leave the sect and do thy will.” None can tell of the liberty, only those that were once bound, and are now tree. If there is any sect-bound soul that reads this, I can tell you that you know nothing of the freedom that you can have if you only give up all for Christ’s sake. Take your Bible and read 2 Cor. 6:14-18, and see if that does not apply to your heart. May God bless you, and lead you in all truth is my prayer. I ask the prayers of all the dear saints, that I may be kept from all sin. From your sister, saved by the precious blood of Jesus.

Dear Brethren: — I do praise God for full salvation that I feel this evening in my soul. Praise God for the joy I have just now in ray heart. I am free from babylon, and every thing that is of the devil. I feel the least of all the saints. Glory to Jesus, when I receive the TRUMPET and read about the meeting they had in Anthony Kan., my heart leaped for joy. O it is glory in my soul. I never felt so completely saved in Jesus as I do just now. Hallelujah! My soul says Amen! I thank God that my heart is large enough to recive the whole Bible just as it is. I am wonderfully persecuted and separated from the company of some, but glory to Jesus! I am drinking of the fountain that never runs dry; and when trials and temptations come, I never run off of the track — my foundation is built on a rock. Hallelujah to our God for ever and ever! Pray for me. Your sister, sanctified and made mete for the Masters use.

To the saints greeting: I can say that, I am saved and sanctified through the blood. I feel to praise the Lord that he called me out of babylon. I once was in babylon but he Lord called me out four years ago last April. Dear Brethren: — Praise God for ever and ever! I am saved and sanctified through the blood of the Lamb: He is my all and in all. The Lord has been doing great things in this neighborhood. We commenced meeting at Bro. Isaac Slagle’s within half a mile of my home, on the 12th of November. Closed the 27th of said mo. with 15 converted to God, most of them heads of families. The Lord made pretty near a clean sweep. Glory to God for ever! We expect to have meeting every Thursday evening, also on the Sabbath. The wilderness and solitary place shall be glad for them. This community, instead of cursing and card-playing as in the past, is now rejoicing and praising God. The people were stirred for miles around.

Glory to God for ever and ever! There was also considerable of a cementing among the saints. Some of them agreed not to fight us any more on the New Testament ordinances. We expect to have greater victory yet in this community. The devil has His agents out already, saying we ought to have a head. Glory to God for the great head of the Church, which is Christ. One that can lead the Church on to certain victory. Your saved brother.

O let us fight for the Lord wherever He may lead us, that when our time comes to leave this world we may have an abundant entrance into the kingdom of Heaven.

To the beloved Saints and Readers of the TRUMPET: — As my ill health does not permit me to pass out into the storm today, to attend meetings, I desire, in the name of the Lord and Master, to tell of His matchless love and abundant mercy through the TRUMPET. My testimony is, that the “blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth me from all sin,” and it is my delight to follow Him closely, day by day, and learn of Him all the counsels of His sweet will concerning me. I have no goodness or faithfulness of my own to present to you; but by and through Him who is faithful, and in whom dwelleth all the fullness of God — by the power of Him who is able to save to the uttermost, all that come unto Him, and able to keep that which is committed to Him. I enjoy this blessed light of God within my soul and His peace within my heart. The Lord is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life: of whom shall I be afraid? — Psa. 27:1.

Praise His name for ever and ever for “delivering me out of the hands of all my enemies!” “He drew me out of many waters!” “Yea, the flames spent their fury upon me, but could not devour me; for the Lord was my helper, and in Him do I put my trust. Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. — Job 13:15. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? It is God that justifies. Who is it that condemneth? —  Rom. 8:31, 33, 34. False witnesses did rise up, they laid to my charge things that I knew not. — Psa. 35:11. But “I waited patiently for the Lord, and He inclined His ear unto me and heard me.” Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say on the Lord. — Psa. 27:14. I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of Lord in the land of the living – verse 13. Now, “though an host should encamp against me, my heart shad not fear.” “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to be hold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.” For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall set me upon a Rock. And now shall mine head be lifted, up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in His tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord. — Psa. 27:4-6. I have the blessed assurance that, all things work together for my good and naught of evil can touch me unless the Lord permit, and that which “seems to harm me,” He turns into my salvation and His glory. Well, praise God! He has taught me by His most terrible chastenings, “Put not your confidence in man!” But heed and obey His warnings and “withdraw myself from every brother that walks disorderly,” no matter what he professes. I do testify that I discerned a brother in whom I had confidence, when coming in my presence that he was not right; but I was so foolish as not to receive this as the Spirit’s voice, but attributed the change to trouble he was undergoing, and thereby I was brought into the Jogs. Experience has taught me that we cannot pass by any of God’s Word in ignorance or otherwise, and not suffer for it. Praises be unto our God for letting me down deeper into the depth of His mighty will, by the fierce billows that have rolled over my soul, in the last year. I have faith in God, that He will make the crooked places straight, and work every thing after the counsel of His own will, and I rest sweetly in His love. I know He will order my steps aright. Hallelujah to His name for ever and ever! By the aid of dear Bro. Michels I have more fully learned the tricks of satan. More than ever I hate every thing like freelove-ism. Thus says Paul, “And to the married, it is not I, but the Lord who commands, that a wife must not be separated from her husband; but if she should be separated, let her remain unmarried or let her be reconciled to her husband; and that a husband do not dismiss his wife.” Praise God for salvation from all error! Let all the dear saints pray for my physical healing and the salvation of my family. Your sister saved and sanctified.

Dear Brethren: — My testimony is this evening, that I am saved by the blood of Christ Jesus. Praise God for salvation full and free. I praise God for the love I feel in my soul just now. Some of God’s ministers have been holding a meeting here this week; I have not been permitted to attend, but have been present in the spirit. Praise God for ever! My prayer is that poor souls may be saved. O I do praise God for salvation that keeps me from all sin. I can never praise the Lord enough for what He has done for my soul, and for the healing power that can heal all manner of sickness. God healed my little boy of the whoopingcough, when he had been sick for three weeks. He was very bad: my husband took him to the earthly physician. I was not at home, and when I came home I threw the medicine away. I was led by the Spirit to call for the Elders to come and pray for his healing, and I knew the work would be done. O glory to God for ever and ever! I praise God that I am free from babylon, and all the works of the devil. I am free in Christ Jesus, and ready to do His will in all things. I care not for what the world may say of me. I am willing to become a fool for Christ’s sake. Praise God for the glorious light that shines in my soul. I do not feel the power at all times, but have to walk by faith. I am a new creature in Christ, and feel that I am growing stronger every day. I ask an interest in the prayers of God’s little ones, that souls may be saved through the blood of Christ in this place. The devil is raging and seeking whom he may devour, but I have the victory over him. Your sister in Christ, saved and sanctified.

Dear Brethren: — May the riches of God’s grace, love and power dwell richly in your soul for Jesus’ sake, and preserve you blameless unto His coming. Amen!

O dear ones praise God with me for this uttermost, salvation, which we have in our Lord Jesus Christ with eternal glory. I praise God for complete victory over all opposing elements and powers of darkness. Hallelujah to Jesus for ever and ever! Beloved, we have certainly had glorious and powerful meetings for the last three weeks. Glory be to Jesus! The leaps and shouts, and high praises of God in the Holy Ghost have been constant from the beginning. Some have been converted, and saved. Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me bless His holy name! Four sinners have been converted, and one backslider reclaimed. One believer wholly sanctified yesterday, we had a glorious day in the worship of the Lord. Last evening, after the close of a glorious and Spiritual meeting, a dear sister consecrated, and obtained the blessed experience of entire sanctification. She received a clear witness of the Spirit to the same. Glory be to Jesus for ever! O may the Lord bless, and keep those dear souls faithful unto the end, is our prayer. Our dearly beloved brother and sister Smith have been wonderfully blessed and used of God in these meetings, He has preached the Word in the power and demonstration of the Spirit of God, making the Word clear and plain to the hearers, which has been received and endorsed by a goodly number. Praise the Lord for ever! May the Lord ever use them mightily unto His glory in the salvation of precious souls.

O dear ones, pray for us and the work here, that we may be wonderfully used of the Lord to accomplish much good in the earth for His glory. And that many souls may be brought into the kingdom of our God. Amen!

May the blessing of the Lord rest upon all His dear saints. May He keep us all humble and faithful to Christ until the end of this life, and qualify us for the work of rescueing perishing souls from eternal despair.

Your blood washed brother, saved, and wholly sanctified. Amen!

Dear Brethren, and readers of the Gospel Trumpet: — God bless you, is my prayer. I praise God this morning for the privilege of writing my testimony for the glory of Jesus. I praise the blessed name of Jesus for salvation from all sin just now. I was far away from God, in sin and darkness, when the dear Lord found me, and called me unto Him, and gave me a willingness to yield my heart and life up to Him.

About seven years ago I became convicted of my sins, and joined the M. E. sect on probation: but I was a poor girl, and had to work for all I had in this world. Some of the most prominent members said I would not amount to much, because I could not help to support the minister. This showed me very clearly that it was not my soul they cared for, but money. I soon became discouraged, and gave up trying; and made no profession until five years ago, the dear Lord was so merciful as to call me once more unto Himself. I came to Him with my whole heart, and gave up all, and He saved my soul. O praise His dear name for ever and ever for His goodness to me. I would not exchange the joy and peace I have in my soul for all this world. The Lord is so precious to my soul just now. I give Him all the praise and glory for this wonderful salvation I have in my soul. I am redeemed from this world and all sin, and from the pride of life, and all the works of the devil. My soul goes out in praise and thanksgiving to God for redemption through the precious blood of Jesus. I am saved, and sanctified and kept, through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Your sister.

Dear Saints: — May God bless you all, and keen you saved with an everlasting salvation, and keep us humble, and willing to obey His commandments. Now I feel led to write a few lines on the subject of giving for the support of the Gospel; for I feel it the duty of every saved child of God to do all they can to push this glorious car of salvation on, that it may roll over this land to all nations. Now how many is there that cannot give up tobacco, tea and coffee, for Christ; for it is injuring your health, and destroying your minds which God has given you, and wasting money which is so much needed to help spread this glorious work of saltation How do you think God’s ministers can take care of their families, and put is all their time working for the salvation of souls, which God requires them to do? The little ones at the Trumpet Office, who are giving their whole time, talent, and means in order to send forth the glad tidings of the glorious salvation of our Lord, in printing the blessed Gospel Trumpet, which is food for the souls of every saved child of God, and all of its subscribers should see to it that their subscription is paid up, and thus lend a helping hand.

Think of the many dollars spent foolishly while you were unsaved, and how much some could pay while in babylon. Now let us see if we cannot do as much for Christ. I believe we can, and I feel God will bestow a glorious blessing upon us if we try to help the cause of Christ along. May God help every one of us to think of these facts, and remember God’s watchful eye is ever upon us.

From your brother, saved and sanctified to do God’s bidding at all times. Fray for me that I may prove faithful.

Dear Brethren: — May the dear Lord bless your souls for Jesus’ sake. Amen

I do thank and praise the Lord for His saving and keeping power manifested in this mortal flesh. O blessed be the name of the Lord for ever and ever! I am saved to the uttermost, sanctified and made mete for the Master’s use. Preserved in Jesus, willing to follow the Lamb whithersoever. He leads. O He is so precious to my soul: there is nothing of this earth so dear or half so sweet. O hallelujah to our God! for who is like unto our God? O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of His praise to be heard. O come, let us sing unto the Lord, let us make a joyful noise unto the Rock of our salvation. O I do praise God for what, He has done for me, for He has taken my feet from the mire and clay, and set them on the Rock, and established my goings; and hath put a new song in my mouth, even praises to our God. The dear Lord has been doing so much for me of late, in healing my body I was afflicted with enlargement of the liver, and an abcess in my right side. It was very painful, I was not able to be up, and had to lie in one position all the time. I could not straighten myself, but was bowed together, like one of old. My companion sent for a physician, but I could not feed that the medicine done any good. I felt led to send for sister Jaquish to come and take care of me, and in the morning while she was bathing me, the Lord told me I should be healed. At the same time, suddenly, the power come on sister Jaquish, and she commenced to pray for the Lord to heal me. This was done without saying anything to each-other about it: proving that it was the Lord. O how the mighty power of God did come on the dear sister, she leaped, and shouted the praises of God for about two hours. O praise our God, for His wonderful works to the children of men. I was restored to perfect health in a few days without the doctors medicine; for I had to trust the Lord, and He would not let me use any snore of it, no, not to please my dearest friends. O how safe it is to trust the Lord! for His promises are yea, and amen, to all those that believe and trust Him. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in Him will I trust. Surely He will never leave, nor forsake His saints, they are preserved for ever. O glory to God! Hallelujah! My soul doth magnify the Lord. Let us praise Him all ye saints. Let us lift up our voices in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord. O that men would, praise the Lord for His wonderful works to the children of men. O it is so good to obey God, and to call on Him; for He knows before we ask what we stand in need of, and His ears are always open to our cries. He has promised to be with us in every time of trouble. O glory to God, for such sweet and precious promise. O I do pray God to awaken sinners out of their slumbers before it is too late. There are so many dead professors claiming to be children of God, standing in the way of sinners. O I pray God to awaken them, that they may get ready: for the coming of the Lord draws near, soon we shall hear the sound of the Trumpet. You that cannot stand the little shouts of the saints, what will you do when the Lord comes? For He will descend with a mighty shout, and what will you do then? The Lord says you will cry for the rocks and mountains to fall upon you, and hide you from the face of the Lamb. O I pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. O come to Christ, and live. He says, “Whosoever will may come and partake of the water of life freely.

Hark, the solemn warning unto all,
Judgment’s coming, O how soon,
Flee O man at mercy’s final call!
Heaven trembles at your doom.”

O I do praise God for the clean white robe. I am ready, watching, and waiting. Hallelujah! Your sister, saved eternally.

Praise the Lord O my soul, and all that is within me praise His holy name! O how I do magnify the Lord for His saving and keeping power. How blessed it is when we can say this world has no place in us. The Lord has done a wonderful work for me, through faith in His blood. He has saved my soul and healed my body, and I am complete in Christ Jesus. “On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.” “I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.” Yours in Christ, and out on the promises, under the blood.

ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. — Matt. 10:40- 42. Whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were imaged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea — Matt. 18:6.

Always be ready to do good and noble acts to others, for in so doing you may do the same to Christ. If you have not done any thing for our blessed redeemer, then be up and doing, for you have no time to lose. Again if you have offended anyone, then ask yourself the question, “Was it Christ? In as much as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren you have done it unto me. — Matt. 25:40.

Praise God for salvation full and complete through our Lord Jesus Christ.

LOCAL THINGS NOT GENERAL.

Occasionally brethren send us, for publication, a renouncement of some person who has fallen, and will not be restored, but go about railing oh the Church, and vainly attempting in the gates of hell to destroy the Church of the Living God, or to rail out, on some of the members thereof. These good brethren think it necessary to deliver such over to satan by a blast of the TRUMPET, but this is a mistake. Local cankers can be removed by the Scriptural course in the local Church. To open the columns of the TRUMPET, which are for the Church of God in general, to such local matters, would not be wise, nor of general interest, and withal unnecessary, in ease of persons professing to be preachers, and going about more or less abroad, a general renouncement, and publication is often necessary for the protection of the Cause of Christ. Speaking of Elders, the Apostle says, “They that sin rebuke before all.”

Dear Brethren: — I feel like writing my testimony. I am still saved and kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation, ready to he revealed in the last day. He has redeemed me from all sin, and causes me to sit in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus. The Lord has wonderfully healed my body. I give Him all the glory for this wonderful salvation which I have in my soul; I find it glorious to rest in Christ. I praise the Lord for giving me the gift of the Holy Spirit, who is able to carry me through all trials and tribulations. He makes me strong in the faith, and in the power of His might. Dear Brethren: — Bless the Lord O my soul! and all that is within me bless His holy name. I feel led by the Spirit to tell the TRUMPET readers a little of my experience, and what the Lord is doing for me.

Three years ago God, for Christ’s sake pardoned all of my sins. Glory to His name forever! The following March I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I joined the F. M. sect, as I always heard it preached that we could not live right outside of some sect; and thought this one was the nearest right of all. But I found the devil was busy there also. Well praise the Lord! last winter He sent Bro. Evans and Bro. Clayton to preach the true Gospel to us. It was very clear to me that I ought to come out of all sects, and stand alone for Jesus, and obey the ordinances of God. But I did not obey at once, and lost the light I had. When the dear saints came after me the 18th of last June to go with them to Gosford to hear the Gospel of free salvation preached once more. I made up my mind by the help of the Lord to obey His voice, cause what persecution it might. On the 19th day of June I consecrated all on the altar once more, and received the witness of the Spirit, and followed my blessed Savior in baptism, and the ordinances of feet washing, and partaking the Lord’s supper. O what peace and joy there is in obeying the Lord — joy unspeakable and full of glory. To obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken, than the fat of rams. I praise God that He ever called me out of the darkness into His marvelous light, and that he has planted my feet on the solid Rock Christ Jesus. Some of the dear saints have sent me the Trumpet, for which I praise the Lord. It does me so much good to hear what the Lord is doing for His children. Your sister, saved, sanctified, and out of babylon.

Dear Brethren: – feel to-night that I must tell that the Lord has wonderfully saved and blessed me. I was first led to ask the prayers of God’s people, though I did not care much whether I was saved or not. God led me that night to pray that the glorious work might be done the next day, and bless God! He did forgive all my sins. The next day I went to God for sanctification. When sister Smith was praying with me, the Spirit told me I was saved; but the devil did not like it, and caused me to doubt. That night, when dear Bro. Warner was explaining sanctification, the Lord showed me right where I stood. I willingly accepted God’s invitation to the altar, and God purified my soul, then healed my body. I do bless God for what He has done for our family. My father was very sick three weeks, had the malarial fever. He was anointed and hands laid upon him; but the Lord did not see fit to raise him up. Then earnest prayers were offered for his healing: and the evening before the departure of the saints the Lord saw lit that they should have another season of prayer and laying on of hands. The Lord wonderfully blessed him, and the next morning he was able to walk about. To-day he was a little worse. His brother, whom God has ordained Elder in His Church, came and prayed, and God did answer his prayer. I ask the prayers of all the dear saints, that the Lord may use us to His glory.

Dear Brethren: — My testimony is that I am saved, and sanctified by the Holy Ghost. Praise the Lord forever! I have accepted Jesus as my complete Savior, and He keeps me saved continually, for which I praise his holy name. A little over one year ago I heard the straight word of God preached by dear Bro. Warner, and I realized my true condition, not being straight for God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. I belonged to a sect, but forsook it, and everything else that is not of God. I then got into a justified relationship with God, and then consecrated for sanctification. Praise God! I was sanctified, and ever since I have been walking in the light as He is in the light.

O glory to God! I do love to meet the dear saints, and worship God with them. O it is more than my meat and drink to do my Masters will and keep His commandments. By the grace of God I shall stand straight for Him, and take His Word for my guide. And being led by the Holy Ghost, I know I cannot be led astray. Although tempted many times, God’s grace is sufficient to keep me. We have glorious meetings at this place: the Lord has established a little Church here, and it is now in a good condition. Glory to God forever! The opposing element is great, the devil is mad, and all manner of lies are told about the saints, but glory to God! we just praise God through it all, and are praying that God will work on the hearts of deceived ones so that their eyes may be opened. My prayer is, Lord bless all the dear saints, and especially all those whom God has sent out to preach His Word.

Your saved brother.

Dear Brethren: — I am a branch of the true Vine which is Christ the Lord. I believe the Word of God which is the truth, and I know that the truth has made me free. Praise the Lord forever for the deliverance from the prison of sectism. And now the Lord has anointed me to carry the good news to the houses of those that are in prison. O praise His name for the wonderful witness of the Holy Ghost, and for full salvation. We can truly sing the redemption story. Hallelujah, the blood cleanses me, and I am kept by the power through faith unto salvation to be revealed in the last day.

To all the saints greeting: — Grace, mercy and peace be multiplied to you. My soul is all aglow with God this morning. I have eternal victory in Jesus over the devil. I am just walking on the sea of glass mingled with fire, and have gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, and have the harps of God. I am determined not to give an uncertain sound. Oh the abomination of sectarianism! It is becoming more detestable to me all the time. The Lord is helping me to throw hail and fire mingled with blood right on the beast, and truly there are wars, thunderings and lightnings and earthquakes. We hear those that are drunken the sect wine muttering and growling all around us. A short time ago my brother and I were holding meeting in a Quaker neighborhood. The Lord helped us to give the Word straight, and some of the Quakers had a degree of God’s Spirit, but when the light of God’s true Church was turned on them, they were astonished at the plain teaching of the Word, but would not make their escape. I fear many of them never will get out of the snare of the devil, and to their astonishment they will wake up in hell: for the Lord only gives us promise of eternal life if we walk in the light as He is in the light. We cannot refuse the light that God pours out on our path, and then have any hope of Heaven. Right here I would say, let us be careful to walk up to all the light that God gives us, lest the light be taken from us. Your sister built in the true Church.

Dear Saints: — I am led by the Spirit of God again to write a few words for Jesus. I am saved by grace from sin just now. Glory to God! I am sweetly resting on the promise of my Savior. Praise His holy name. I know they are true. Oh I do bless God for Scriptural light, and for His Holy Spirit in my soul that agrees with the Word of God. Dear Brothers and sisters, how I long to see some of you face to face and talk with you about our Savior and his wonderful love toward the children of men. I do not mean to complain, but if it were God’s will I would like to at least attend one meeting with the saints. It is heart-breaking to see those who profess to be followers of Christ, deny the truth and trample it under their feet.

Pray for me that I may cling to Christ and let my light shine before them.

Your sister in the Lord.

Dear Brethren: — Through efforts of dear Bro. Frey we are having glorious meetings here twice a week at my house and other nights at others who have embraced this great and glorious faith. I am young in the cause, but thanks be to God for opening our hearts, and allowing Him to have supreme rule. Last night at Bro. Browson’s we had a splendid meeting, for God in all His glory was there. I felt His Holy Spirit fill my soul. Oh I cannot praise Him enough. He has taken up His abode in my heart and I stand ready to do His will whenever He may direct. My wife and I have dedicated our house to the Lord, and He can use it as He will. I tell you dear saints, we thank our blessed Master that He has sent Bro. Frey here.

Dear Saints: — I feel led to give in my testimony of God’s goodness to me; for He has saved me from the sins of the world. God saved me three years ago, and O what joy and peace I have in my soul. I lived in a justified state for two years. I was all that time seeking a deeper work of grace, but could not understand just how to receive it. God bestowed great blessings on me during that time. It was my delight to see my brethren and sisters shout, but I wanted the Spirit to descend upon me in a quiet way. But I soon found that my way was not God’s way. I was at Covert on the fourth of July, 1885. We had a blessed meeting at Bro. Frazier’s, when the Holy Spirit came into my soul. O praise God for full salvation. O I was so filled with the Spirit and power of God My will is the will of my Lord. I thought I had all there was for me; but I soon found where God wanted me. And at the Camp-meeting at Bangor last June, I plunged into the fountain that flowed from my Savior’s side, and was made whiter than snow. And from that time I have been wholly given up to the Lord, and have no doubt that God reigns supremely in my heart. O this sweet peace that none know but God’s little ones! I feel it in my soul its I write these lines. The unspeakable joy of the Lord fills my soul; and when I pray to Him my spirit is wafted up to God, and I have the evidence that my petition is answered. O it is glory, glory in my soul; for Jesus has saved me, and gives me grace to stand up for Him. He sanctifies me wholly, by a second work of grace. I ask an interest in the prayers of God’s dear saints. From your brother, saved, sanctified, and trusting in God.

Dear Brethren: — I am saved, sanctified, and kept by the power of God. I am all the Lord’s for lime and eternity. Glory be to God for ever and ever! Wife and I are standing alone for the Lord here. O praise the Lord for a complete salvation that keeps the soul in perfect peace. O how my soul does rejoice and praise God for what He has done for me, in leading me out of babylon, and adopting me into the family of the living God. When I look back and think of the blessings the Lord has bestowed upon me, my heart is made to exclaim —

O wondrous love, O joy sublime!
I’ve Jesus with me all the time.”

Since we moved here I have attended several meetings of the U. B’.s, but there is no food there for me. They are twice dead, and plucked up by the roots. My earnest prayer is, that the Lord may send some of His holiness teachers here; for I think much good could be done here. I am trusting that God will send some one soon. Your brother, saved by the blood of Jesus.

This morning I am saved and sanctified, and kept by the power of God, ready to be revealed in the last day. I was very sick with typhoid malaria fever. Bro. Warner and his little band came to our place, and prayed for me, and anointed me with oil in the name of the Lord. I had the witness of the Spirit that I was healed, but my mouth and throat were so very sore, so that I could not eat. One night the Lord made known to me that the healing was complete, to which I witnessed in our little prayer meeting. I had no fever from that time until Thursday evening, I had a chill. But we took our case to the Lord, and praise His holy name. The fever has left. Our trust is in God. We know He does all things for the best.

Dear Brethren: — My testimony is this morning that I am saved from all sin, and kept by the mighty power of God. I do praise God for the glorious salvation that I feel in my soul. I know I am free from all sin, and my name is written in the Lamb’s book of life. What a glorious blessing it is to be a child of God, and be shielded from the wiles of the devil. This morning the precious blood of Jesus sanctifies my nature, and keeps my mind continually floating out in the ocean of God’s love. Praise Lord for ever and ever!

Dear Brethren: — I feel led by the Spirit of God to testify of His goodness and love to me. I thank Him for calling me out into the true light of His holy Word, and placing my feet on the solid Rock Christ Jesus. O the precious blood of Jesus! It keeps me from all sin. How precious is His name to me, since I begun to do His will. I am young in the cause of God, but His Spirit keeps me renewed daily in His holy Word. Your brother in Christ, saved, sanctified, and kept by God’s mighty power.

Dear Brethren: — My wife and I feel led of the Spirit of God to testify through the TRUMPET of the saving grace of God. That He is able to justify, sanctify and keep us by the blessed grace of the Son of God. Glory to His name! We do thank God that we ever heard the Gospel of His dear Son preached in its purity, and the standard of His holiness lifted up. O hallelujah! How He does bless our needy souls. There is but four of us here, but there was a sister came from Litchfield, to encourage our hearts, and we had a glorious meeting. The Holy Ghost did witness to our souls.

We are praying for God to send some Spirit baptized minister here to preach, that some more might be brought to the Lord, Whosoever the Lord will be pleased to send, will be gladly received. The Spirit tells me there are much people here to be saved. O there is a cry going up from this place like there was from Macedonia, Come and help us! Who will come in the name of Jesus, to help pluck poor dying sinners as brands from the eternal burning?

To all the dear saints scattered abroad greeting. This evening finds me blessedly saved and straight for God in this dark place, where there is nothing but babylon confusion. O how I praise God that I am free from all their creeds and stand on the word of God. Although, since the Beaver Dam C. M. I have passed through great trials, but I praise God that I did not fall by the way. And this evening I realize a blessedness in my soul that is so glorious though all nature seems to be still. Well dear ones there are no saints near us but distance does not keep us apart altogether, though some times in the furnace, still there are strong ties to bind us together. As we are about to commence bolding meetings, will you pray earnestly that God will make us more successful than ever before. God bless all the little ones with all temperal and spiritual blessings.

O bless His holy name for ever! When I think what the blessed Lord has saved me from, I wonder, that He did notice such a sinner. O praise the holy name of Jesus. I am saved to the uttermost. Dear Saints: — I feel led of the Spirit to write my testimony this morning. I praise the Lord for all things He has done for me, and what He is still doing for my soul He is sweetly saving me, for which I give God all the praise. Praise the Lord for ever! I was a member of the sect Presbyterian church for many years, baptized with sect baptism, viz., sprinkling. Pour or five years ago I came out in sect holiness, but still there was something wanting. About one year ago I came down and out from all sects, and have stood alone ever since for Christ and free salvation. Praise the Lord for ever and ever! All glory be to Jesus for salvation that saves to the uttermost all who come unto Him in faith, believing. I have some severe trials, but He sweetly saves me out of them all. Praise the Lord! I feel the Lord very precious to my soul this morning, and I am rejoicing in His salvation. I am saved and sanctified, and kept by His almighty power. Glory be to His holy name, now and for ever more!

I am free, the Lord has saved me; and I am kept by His mighty power. O praise the Lord for His goodness to the children of men. I have denounced all sect churches and the bondage of men, and I am in the Church of God. O praise the Lord for salvation that keeps me from all sin.

My Dear Brethren: — May the blessing of God be with you in all your efforts to build up the kingdom of Jesus in the world. Amen!

Praise the Lord for full salvation through and through. Our dear Bro. Warner and Co. have just completed a protracted meeting at this point, and gone to their next appointment, in Seward Co. May God bless them in their labor of love. The meeting was a success. The Spirit of the Lord was wonderfully poured out in this place. Twelve or fourteen were converted, nine baptized, and quite a number sanctified. Much precious seed was sown, which we trust will bear fruit in time to come. The saints of God are greatly encouraged, and more firmly established in the faith, on account of their being sent among us. Glory to God! Amen!

I am kept from all sin, through the blood of Jesus, fully saved and sanctified through the truth as it is in Jesus.

Your Bro. in Christ,

H. A. Austin.
