Babylon Worship Exposed.

>:o<

Hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodom, give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt-offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he-goats. When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new-moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. Your new-moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. — Isa. 1:10-17.

RULERS of babylon, hear the voice
Of heaven’s eternal Lord;
Men of sectism, bend your ear
Submissive to His Word.

‘Tis thus He speaks, “To what intent
Are your oblations, vain?
Why load my altars with your gifts?
Polluted and profane.

“Burnt off’rings long may blaze to heav’n
And incense cloud the skies,
The worship and the worshiper
Are hateful in my eyes.

“Your rites, your fusts, your prayers I scorn,
And pomp of solemn days;
I know your hearts are full of guile,
And crooked are your ways.

“But cleanse your hands, ye guilty race,
And cease from deeds of sin;
Learn in your actions to be just.
Make pure your hearts within.

“Join not my name with honors vain,
But keep my holy laws;
Do justice to the friendless poor,
And plead the widow’s cause.

“Then though your guilty souls are stained
With sins of crimson dye,
Yet through my grace, the snow itself
In whiteness shall out-vie.”

OUR RETURN TO ZION.

—:o:—

My Dear Brethren: — May you stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made you free. and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage (sin). O how sweet to know and feel that we are tree from all the bands and traps of the devil. Glory to God forever! And in that day shall ye say praise the Lord. — Isa. 12:4. When the soul is made free from the bondage of sin, it will say, praise the Lord. The Psalmist David says: “His praise shall be continually in my mouth.” Many to-day who do not “rejoice over- more,” say we can rejoice in our hearts; we can praise the Lord in our hearts. Yes from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh, and if our hearts are full of the glory of God we will say “Praise the Lord.” * * * And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads * * * Isa. 35:8-10. Glory to God! the remnant of the children of God are coming home from the city of babylon (sectism), to Zion, the heavenly Jerusalem. Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion (the city — church — of the living God). — Isa. 51:11. Then the commandment comes to those who have returned: Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion; for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee. — Isa. 12:6. Yes He is great, for He has redeemed us from all iniquity, and from the hands of them that hate us. — Titus 2:14; Luke 1:71-75. O praise God for eternal deliverance from all the works of the devil. He has redeemed us and brought us into our own land (holiness). How is the faithful city become an harlot! It was full of judgment: righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. — Isa. 1:21. Babylon is full of murderers; whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer. — 1 Jno. 3:15. Babylon is full of such men. “Thy princes are rebellious and companions of thieves; every one loveth gifts. Yes the rulers of babylon are in company with thieves, while they themselves are murderers. And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away all thy dross, and take away all thy tin. And I will restore thy judges as at the first * * * afterward thou shall be called, the city of righteousness the faithful city. Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness. — Isa. 1:25-27. Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet; and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding-place. — Isa. 28:17. Zion is being redeemed with judgment (preaching the Word), and her converts (justified souls) with righteousness. The carnal mind is exposed by the Word of God and destroyed by the gift of righteousness. * * * they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. — Rom. 5:17. O hallelujah for redemption through His precious blood! God says in Isa. 16:14 — The remnant shall be very small and feeble (not many). Surely this is true. Many say: “If only the sanctified are going to heaven there will not be many there.” That is what the Word declares — there will not be many, for straight is the gate and narrow is the way and few there be that find it. — Matt. 7:13, 14; and in the 15th vr. Jesus says: beware of false prophets. He knew many false teachers would come and make it appear that the way is broad. Only few find the way to Zion the Church of the First born, whose names are written in heaven (not in the earth). O Lord, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters. — Jer. 17:13. Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate saith the Lord. For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. — Jer. 2:12, 13. Jer. calls heaven to be astonished at this wherein the people have forsaken the Lord Jesus Christ the Head of the Church and have organized them a sect of their own, promoted a man to the head and in blasphemy call this their church. God declares “ye have committed two evils in this.” He tells us to abhor and abstain from that which is evil — 1 Thes. 5:22. Poor souls are not satisfied with God the fountain of living waters, and the organized Church of God, but they must make them cisterns of their own; something they can call their own, and run for themselves. O ye sectarians! your cisterns are broken; they will not hold water. Poor souls come into your sect to quench their thirst, but to their astonishment they find no water. They come into your city, O babylon, to buy bread, and spend their money for naught. And when you get them in there you bind them and will not let them go; and there poor souls stay and starve in a foreign land. You bind souls with the strong hands of sectism, murdering them. The priests said not where is the Lord? and they that handle the law knew me not. Poor blind souls are trying to preach the Word who never knew God; for they confess that they are sinners. He that saith I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. — 1 Jno 2:3, 4. Every man who is trying to preach the Word, and commits sin, is on the way to hell, and is handling the Word of God with unclean hands. God commands: “Cleanse your hands ye sinners; and purify your hearts ye double minded.” — Jas. 4:8. And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. If ye will not hear, and if ye will not, lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name * * * I will even send a curse upon you * * * for the priests’ lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at His mouth.

Dear Saints, Greeting: — I am saved and sanctified and kept by the mighty power of God, for this blessed evening light shines in my pathway. My desire is to serve God and work for the salvation of souls. The love of God so fills ray soul there is no room for evil thoughts, and He makes me free and happy in His love. We have prayer meetings three times a week and sometimes oftener, as the Lord leads, and souls are being saved.

Your sister in Christ.

A DEPLORABLE STATE OF THINGS.

—:o:—

THE devil has devised many different policies for involving the people in darkness, and for the promotion of his kingdom, and the immorlization of the human family at the present time; and the people (professers) love to have it so; because they are led captive by the devil at his will.

The world is cursed, deceived, and degenerated because of the awful flood of false religion in the land. Every honest and candid individual must acknowledge this fact, from their own observation. A mere profession, without a possession is all the majority of the sects require of their adherents. Every thing goes along very well, if the members conform to the popular sentiments of the day, and especialy, please the preacher in charge. But if the members cease to pay the preacher, they will surely get out, or he will; and if any of the members get full salvation they are sure to get out of the sect.

The pulpit tools of today, are expected to please the people, and in return the people are under obligations to please them, and pay them well. Money! Money!! Money!!! is all their plea. Seeing things thus carried on under religious cloaks we must “cry aloud and spare not.” lifting up our voice as a trumpet warning the sincere and honest souls who are in- snared by their deception, to flee for their life, and leave the others without excuse. They think us very obtrusive, and uncharitable because we uncover their base sins by the word of God, and expose their depraved hearts. When we see anyone in danger, we must warn them of it. They think we do not love them because we talk plainly and show them the truth, but that only shows that we do love them. We see their danger and thus warn them to escape.

The many evil devised institutions, are but blasphemeous titles; and they bring a reproach on the church of Jesus Christ, dishonoring the Holy Bible which only recognizes one church of which Christ is the founder. Thousands of poor souls are corrupted by these God dishonoring factions, who would be saved if they could see anything like bible christianity and holiness exemplified there; but they have become disgusted with what is called religion. Their principle desires are, to have a good time together, rioting at their feasts, whether they glorify God or not. They have a poor graceless desire to meet for the worship of God, because they have not salvation. Such are a withering moral curse at the present time, and none but the allseeing eye of an outraged God, can see the terrible ruination of souls, by these deceivable institutions.

On prayer meeting night you will see only a few gathered at the house of worship. But you notice the text “ten meeting” (which name is in general use in Canada, but they are none the less devilish,) and you will find a house full, the preacher in the midst and ringleader of the revel. Hence, you observe “they are lovers of pleasure, more than lovers of God, having a form of Godliness but denying the power.” And the word tells us to “turn away from such” — 2 Tim 3:4, 5, i. e., “flee out of the midst of her and deliver every man his soul.” If possible the sect fosterers will deceive you “with fair speeches,” and thus allur you from the right way (Christ) into som creed. Peter says: “the devil is transformed into an angel of light,” in these last days, for the express purpose of deceiving the people.” God help us to be vigilant and measure every professor by the word of divine inspiration, rejecting all “heretics after the first and second admonition,” that we may not imbibe their false spirit and thus be deceived, and disqualified to meet the son of man; who requires us to “be without spot or blemish,” that we may have boldness in the day of judgment.” If we live in harmony with God’s word, we will surely feel heaven’s approbation on our souls.

All sinners and sectarians, in that great day will be filled with shame and confusion; “because they chose not the love of the truth;” He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment. The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the hills, by righteouness. He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor. Psalms, 70:2,-4;

“We ought to obey God rather than man.” And again He says: “come out of her my people,” He also says: “my sheep hear my voice and obey.” If you dispute this you reject God’s word. If you disobey this call, you prove that you are none of God’s people; for all His people hear His voice and obey it.

We are well aware of the fact, that God has people among some of the sects, though they are becoming few and all of them will come out, or lose their souls and if you do not come out, you acknowledge you are not His people.

You may have been honest before the light came to you, as the word says: “walk ye in the light while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you.” But when you hear the call, see the light, and still refrain from walking in it, by not coming out of babylon, you prove you are not honest and have become willfully disloyal to God’s word: hence you are no longer under His divine scepter.

Me thinks I hear some one say, “I have heard the call.” What is the word of God good for? You will find out in the day of judgment, if not before. Have you read it? If so obey it; “for if ye offend in one point you are guilty of all.” Some are not satisfied with the call in God’s word, and are presumptuous enough to think that He ought to speak to them in an audible voice. Such will never be the case; because He has made it plain to all candid minds. You will hear the call if you look in the bible, 18 ’thCh. of Rev. and 4 ‘th vr. which says: “come out of her my people.” Remember this voice comes from heaven, and you must, necessarily obey heaven’s voice or become a rebel. Disobedience to His word makes you a sinner every time. And when a sinner, you are of the devil, “for he that sinneth is of the devil.” 1 John 3:8 Here the line of distinction is drawn between christians and nominal professors. All who are of God do not sin, and all who are committing sin are not of God. Some say, this is just your opinion. Let us be careful how we talk. We say if is true, but it is not our opinion; we are only quoting the word of God. Your opinion will amount to nothing here, nor in the judgment day. So ignore them and all self conceited notions, and settle all religious issues by the word of God. Let no one dictate for you, but look into God’s word for the truth and light, with a free heart from prejudice and self interest. Only having a single eye to his glory; and then your whole body shall be full of light, having no part dark, as Jesus declares in Matt. 6:22. There is a certain class, who have an “evil eye,” consequently they are full of darkness or sin. Here sin is represented by darkness, and light denotes righteousness. We are either straight for God, or crooked for the devil.

We are either saved or lost. We are either sinners or saints. We are bearing fruit for God or the devil. “No tree can bring forth good, and evil fruit at the same time.” “No fountain can send forth bitter and sweet water at the same time and place.”

Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain yield saltwater and fresh. James 3:11, 12; “No man can serve two masters.” No individual can be a shining light when he is nothing but darkness. It is absolutely impossible for any one to serve God and the devil at the same time. If you could do so it would make the bible untrue; but we have proved the veracity of His word. What absurdity and inconsistency, to say, “Lord, Lord, and then do not the things which He says.” In the judgment day, He will say, “depart from me ye that work iniquity, I never knew you.” (Emphatic Diaglot, I never acknowledged you.”) Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house on a rock: And the rain descended’ and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house? and it fell: and great was the fall of it. And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Every one that is in Christ’s church is free from crooked professors and hypocrites; thank God for the knowledge of the fact.

Let all the saints of Gad employ
The ministrel choirs to sound the joy
Of full salvation in the heart,
Where Jesus reigns no more to part.

God’s ministers do not preach the gospel from opinions, because they have none. We are commanded to “preach the word,” and the word of God is not a book of opinions, neither is it interpreted by opinions, or commentators, but through the knowledge of salvation, by the Holy Ghost to give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, Luke 1:77;

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. — 1 Cor. 2:14-l6.

We have ascertained that no one can properly understand the bible until he first obtains salvation. Then he is in possession of the mind of Christ, and can understand the same, for the word is hut a transcript of Christ’s mind. Paul says: Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Phil. 2:5, Thus the apostle testfies that he has the mind of Christ, and includes us also. Be honest with God and His, word and your own soul also for you and God must settle the matter, and if you disregard His word, in the day of judgment you will be sorry that you did not listen to those who were admonishing you to obey the scripture. The bible says in Gal. 6:7, 8, “Be not decived, God is not mocked; for what soever a man soweth that shall he also reap.” For he that soweth to the flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption, but he that soweth to the Spirit (Christs spiritual life) shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” In Rom. 8:13, we read, “If ye live after the flesh (carnal mind) ye shall die; but if ye through the Spirit (of God) mortify (“or put to death”) the deeds of the body (of sin) ye shall live unto God, Many other scriptures would corroborate these few given, but we deem it unnecessary. Be honest; “Be ready all.”

O will you heed the warning,
Obey that heavenly voice;
Be robed in white adorning,
And let thy heart rejoice.

Dear Saints: — I can say this morning that I am saved and all on the altar, ready to do the whole will of God as it is made known to me; and though I have trials to contend with every day, yet I find His grace sufficient all the while, and I am bound, by God’s help to live for Him alone. It has been almost two years since I first started to do God’s will, and I am determined to serve Him while I live. There are only a few of us here, and we have no meetings now; and my prayer is that some fire-baptized soul will be sent in here soon. I feel that great good can be done here. Dear saints pray for us.

BABYLON’S HIT AND MISS NOTIONS.

—:o:—

IN a family Testament issued by the American Tract Society, with notes, we have the following remarks on 1 John 1:6, 7, 8.

“Those who think they love God and yet live in sin are deceived.”

“This cleansing, so far as it is a work of sanctification, is not a momentary act, but a process which God carries forward till it ends in our perfect and everlasting holiness.”

“All who truly believe, and confess and forsake their sins, will, at the close of their probation, become completely and unchangeably perfect.”

“Men who think they are now sinless are deceived.”

Out of four strands of this theological carpet there is one hit and three misses. The idea of the blood of Christ cleansing us gradually through all our life, and removing the last bit of sin when we die, is without a single Bible support, and is repulsive to common sense. The first and the last strands are in direct contradiction to each other. Such is the muddle and confusion of babylon teaching.

__________

BABYLON TRYING TO IMPROVE.

_____

The following letter was sent to a child of God, who had, through the blood of Christ, escaped out of the filthy cage.

“To the members of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Congregation at Cochran’s Mills, Penna.

Dear Brethren: — Constrained by the very unsatisfactory condition of its roll of membership, as well as by an earnest desire for the present and future welfare of the church, St. Michael’s congregation, at its annual meeting on the 2nd day of March, amended item 7, of Sec. 1, Chapt. 6, of the Constitution to read as follows: “It is the duty of each member of this congregation to annually subscribe and contribute promptly (according as the Lord has prospered him) to pastor’s salary, and all other demands of the congregation, at such times, and in such a manner as the council may annually direct; to commune publicly and regularly (unless providentially hindered by sickness, infirmity, or necessary absence from the community), and any one failing to comply with either of these specifications for the space of one year, shall, by virtue of that act, stand suspended from all the rights and privileges of members of this church, and shall be dealt with as such without any further action on the part of the church council.

It was further ordered, That “all members of the congregation, both nominal and constitutional, shall signify their acceptance of the Constitution, as thus amended, by subscribing and contributing at once to pastor’s salary and the other demands of them (if they have not already done so), by handing their names, written in full, to J. E. Kinnard, Secretary of council, to be affixed to the Constitution, and by communing publicly at the Lord’s table at this congregation’s next regular communion.”

Any person failing to comply with the provisions of this resolution between this and the last day of April, A. D. 1889, will have his name dropped from the church roll, and be debarred of all rights and privileges of members of this congregation.

R. G. Rosenbaum,
Pastor.”

No doubt the condition of their roll of membership, including preacher and all, is in a very unsatisfactory condition, especially in the light of God, and an effort to improve is very much needed; but we think they had better have sought to improve their condition by putting away their sins, and seeking after the God of mercy, rather than the god of mammon. We would suggest the following measure, as far more potent for their spiritual improvement. Namely:

“Constrained by the very unsatisfactory condition of our roll of membership, as well as by an earnest desire for the present and future welfare of the church, we, the members of St. Michael’s congregation, do now resolve that we will lay to heart our sins, and consider all our iniquities in the light of God, which have with-holden good things from us. We do also confess that the rebukes of the prophet, by whom we have named our congregation, do fall justly upon our guilty heads.

‘For the transgression of Jacob (our class) is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel (Luther).’ ‘I will discover the foundations thereof. And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for we gathered it from the hire of a harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot. Therefore we will wail and howl, we will go stripped and naked: we will make a wailing like the dragons and mourning as the owls. For our wound is incurable.’ ” Therefore saith the Lord unto St. Michael’s sinful congregation: “Behold against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks, neither shall ye go haughtily: for this time is evil.” “In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation and say, we be utterly spoiled.” We do also in confusion acknowledge that these words do fall upon us from the Lord. Even, “thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets (Lutheran priests), that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry peace; and he that putteth not into their mouth, they even prepare war against him,” and drop it from the roll. “Therefore night shall be unto us, that we shall not have a vision; and it is dark unto us, that we do not have a vision, and the sun hath gone down over the prophets and the day is dark over us. For we have built up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.” — Micah.

Therefore we, the members and pastor of the St. Michaels Congregation, do call a solemn assembly, and sanctify a fast, gather together ye people; “gird yourselves and lament, ye priests: howl ye ministers of the altar; come, lie all night in sack-cloth and ashes, for the meat offering and drink offering is withholden from you.” Oh! ye Lutheran priests, bring no more vain oblations unto me; your drink offerings I cannot away with. Therefore do not drink beer with the members in the filthy saloons. Put away your wines and brandies out of your cellars, and do no more commit these abominations in my sight.

Therefore be it resolved, that all the members of the St. Michaels Congregation, with their pastor, secretary, treasurer, elders, deacons, stewarts, trustees and S. S. superintendants and teachers are hereby no tified to assemble together on the last day of april A. D. 1889, in the house of worship, and there heartily repent of all their sins, and cry mightily unto God for mercy, so that if it be possible the iniquity of our sins may be forgiven us.

It shall also be the duly of all the members to give neither money, food nor raiment unto any of our pastors, nor even lodge them in our houses, until they shall have heartily repented of their sins, and become thoroughly regenerated and sanctified unto God.

Any member that is unable to come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, if he or she will seek God at their homes, and attain unto salvation, can inform the Church of the glad tidings by letter to J. E. Kinnard, Secratery of Council; or He that forgiveth all thine iniqities, will also heal all thy diseases so that ye can come in person.

Any one failing to comply with either of these specifications for the space of one year, shall, by virtue of that, stand suspended from all the rights and privileges of membership.”

We can very conscienciously recommend the above treat..n ..f for the healing of the above pastor and congregation, and the same prescription would be very salutary all over babylon.

DID GOD HEAR THEIR PRAYERS?

_____

AT a Dunker meeting the following sentences were taken down from the lips of one of the preachers in prayer.

“Oh Lord, we bow down our sinful bodies to offer up spiritual sacrifices.”

“O Lord, bless us to-day in conseqeuence of sin.”

Now we ask, did God hear that prayer? Not with approval. For David says: “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” That is if he were to permit it. But these filthy empty wells calculate to be sinners all their life.

And yet we have evidence that God heard that prayer. Thus He saith:

“Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.

I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright; no man repented him of his wickedness, saying: What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.” — Jer. 8:5, 6.

SATISFIED.

—:o:—

They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasure. Psalms, 36:8; God has undertaken to satisfy every want of the soul, when it is restored to it’s normal condition. The reason why there are so many thirsty, desert hearts, is because they have not been planted in the land of Beaulah. Isa. 35:1, 2, 6, 7; Psalms, 1:3; Those living in the wilderness, are unsatisfied.

First, because they are not made complete in Christ.

Second, because there is the “old man” in them that cannot be satisfied. You may glut him with human pleasure, and lade him with farms, stock, mortgages, titles, and the wealth of this world, and you only enhance his longings, and increase the wrestless, uneasy itching element of his nature. The old man must be put off, cast out, crucified. For as long as the old man is favored, and fed, and recognized, we cannot be satisfied. And he said unto them, ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. Luke, 16:15; When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning. Isa. 4:4; Love not the world, neither the things that are of the world. If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him. 1 John, 2:15;

Many are crying, “my leanness, my leanness, woe unto me.” Because they are looking to self, their suroundings, their creed, and false shepherds, instead of looking to Jesus, and saying in their hearts by THE FAITH, “The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want.” Psalms, 73:26; My flesh and my heart fail: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever. It is not because God’s provision is not rich and abundant, and Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. — John 6:35; But some ask: Is it not an indication of spiritual health, to hunger and thirst after righteousness? it is. But the rest of the verse says:” we shall be filled;” and if a person eats of natural things, until he is filled and still is unsatisfied, it shows his appetite is unnatural, and needs something else than food. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit, against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. — Gal. 5:17;

“They that are Christ’s (wholly His) have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. — Gal. 5:24; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousnes and true holiness. — Eph. 4:24; Then we are sanctified wholly, we are raised so far above this world of sin, with heart made pure and garments white, and Christ enthroned within.

And as we look down on this world, from the plane of God’s holiness, (for it is not our own) behold all the pompous show of this world has become distasteful and has faded away into a small speck, compared with the rich things of God, which have been revealed to us through the Spirit. Now our affections are placed on things above, and our conversation is in heaven. And we have received Christ as out- wisdom, righteousness, redemption, and our all in all. And to say He is not enough to satisfy us, is to bring reproach on God and His promises.

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: 2 Cor. 9:8; But my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches and glory by Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:19;

Those who are limited are in themselves, and not in the Lord. Those who compare themselves by themselvs are not wise. The standard of our experience, is not to be measured by what some one else enjoys, or seems to enjoy. But according to the riches of His glory, which our heavenly father gives us, which we inherit through Christ. Gal. 4:7; Some will inquire, can we advance after we arc once satisfied and made perfect? Yes, we are only then prepared to advance more rapidly, and as our capacity enlarges, the hand of FAITH is stronger to take from God the increased supply, so that the vessel is always full, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, making life a constant joy, one eternal blissful sunshine; because we are perfect entire, wanting nothing.

Your Bro. in Christ.

CHRISTIAN PROGRESS.

—@—

We speak not so much of human progress, but emphatically of christian progress. Perhaps since the world began, we have not had a better delineation of this progress than by the old immortal dreamer of Bedford Jail. Beautiful, yet amazing gradations are found in the Christian life. First the blade, then the ear after that the full com in the ear.” This is the simple, yet beautiful way the blessed word of God speaks of this progress in its different, and advancing stages. Notice the work on the human heart, and on the final maturity, first repentance and pardon, justification by faith in Jesus, then sanctification and everlasting glory. From beginning to end; these are the wonderful phases of saving grace in the hearts and lives of the children of God. But is the highest life, the most Godlike and useful a man can possibly lead on earth? It is not simply to get good, to be good, nor yet to do good. Nor even to live to save our fellow men. Yea we may be much admired for our goodness, frequent charities, yet these will profit us little unless our will is perfectly merged into the divine will. Then ever “teach me to do thy will, O God! Only when we render a perfect obedience, beloved to the blessed will of God, will we have attained the highest and noblest life of Christian progress in this world. There is nothing above or beyond this, in the true life of the son of God. Then and only then, will we be able to say — “I delight to do Thy will, O God, and to run the way of thy commandments.” For God’s will is righteous, true and holy. Yet it is perfect and that even forevermore. We shall know thenceforward no failure, no lack of doing good, no misgivings at all to ultimate success. For if God’s will be ours, fully, faithfully, and forever, He will lead us, defend us, keep and save us and finally give us wondrous success and triumph as His own blessed overcomers.

NEWS FROM THE FIELD.

—:o:—

Burket, Ind., Apr. 24, 1889.

IN OUR last report of the work in the West, we were in the town of Meriden, Kan., holding up the truth to the people in the name of Jesus, but we are now in Indiana preaching the same truth in the same name.

The Meriden meeting was one of real success to the salvation of poor lost souls and establishing of the people of God at that place. We commenced meeting Mar. 23, and closed Apr. 14. During the entire meeting we had good attendance, and good order, with slight exceptions. Previous to our coming to that place to preach the truth to the people, the few of God’s true people that we found there were somewhat hindered by the anti-ordinance and false holiness element that came into their meetings at times and assumed leadership; but thank God! were made free from both during the meeting.

We had but little face to face opposition for the people knew to oppose what we preached was to oppose the truth, therefore kept still.

The most of our opposition came from a so called holiness preacher by the name of J. W. Wyrick. If he even possessed the blessing of justification in his soul, it would be a blessing to the people where- ever he goes, for such a state of grace will enable a person to bridle his tongue, as in James 3d chapter. He did much to hinder the work of God. Let all the saints of God refuse to acknowledge all such as being saved, much less ministers of the Gospel, until they truly repent of all their ungodly deeds and hard speeches against the true faith of Jesus. Hallelujah to Jesus! In spite of all falsehoods and evil men, the dear Lord saved poor souls out of all sin and freed the people of God from all such imposition, and filled the little company of saints with much holy fire to enable them to remain in the order of God.

The last day of the feast two went down into the water and were buried with Christ by baptism by dear Bro. Jno. Dillon, and in the evening we all met at Sister Taylor’s where we followed the example of our Lord, as recorded in John 13; also commemorated His death by breaking bread and drinking wine. There were present in all 21 communicants.

Monday 15th, we all (Bro. and Sister Cole, Bro. and Sister Dillon, Bro. A. J. Kilpatrick and myself,) left for the east, (Ind.) Bro. and Sister Cole will remain, the Lord willing, until after the Beaver Dam Ind., Camp-meeting.

We remain your humble Bro’s, all the Lord’s soul, body and Spirit.

Bangor, Mich., Apr. 29, 1889.

Dear Brethren: — Since my last “News from the Field” my time has been divided between farm work and working in the vineyard of the Lord. Since coming home from Ind., my work has been among the Churches at Covert, Van Buren Co., in Lee, and Cheshire, Allegan Co., and Coopersville Ottawa Co.

At the “Log House,” Lee Township, we had a two week’s meeting; much good was accomplished in soul saving and straightening up, ending in an ordinance meeting, at which 50 saints participated. The Lord was with us in power. Millie Smith gave herself to the Lord amid much rejoicing among the saints and father and brother. Our work at Covert with dear Bro Michels resulted in some good, but not as much as desired. There were some sincere consecrations, and the church was encouraged; but we are sorry to say that some are so stubborn that they will neither square up nor get out. May God show their condition At Cheshire and Bro. Smith’s in Lee, every thing seems to be in pretty good shape.

At Coopersville the Lord saved four or five, and sanctified two. We are glad to say they are in a better condition than before. At Coopersville, as well as in other places where I have been in the last year, I find much crookedness and prejudice arising from false teaching. The devil understands his business pretty well. If he cannot keep people from standing up straight for God, he will push them over backwards. Many souls feel very zealous ni the cause of God, want to do all the good they can, and there is no other way to do it but to preach. Many run before they are sent, hence mischief follows. God does not want people to preach that cannot keep from backsliding every few days; sucn is Henry DeVries. I feel it to the glory of God that the saints at large should understand his case. It is a general complaint wherever he goes that he works mischief; he seems to be honest many times in making confessions, but he kicks it all over before he gets out of the community. Brethren, do all you can for the salvation of his soul, but it is not safe to countenance him as one of God’s ministers. I do not speak altogether from hearsay, but am personally acquainted with him, and know for myself in regard to his crookedness. We do not believe in publishing individuals of only local influence, but those who claim to be evangelists for the Lord, running all over the country, (“religious tramps”) too lazy to work for a living, doing little or no good, burdening the poor saints, causing divisions etc. should be published as imposters.

I was glad to meet with Bro. Geo. P. Wilson at Coopersville. May the Lord bless and prosper him in his labors.

Slater Wyoming, Ter.

Dear Saints: — I feel led by the Spirit to write my testimony. I am saved, sanctified and kept by the power of God free from sin. Praise God for ever and ever! He found me dead in sin, but now has made me dead to sin.

“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

How this fills my soul with joy, knowing we can by the loving power of God, cleanse ourselves from all sin. O this is the solid Rock, even Christ Jesus upon winch we are standing. Does He want us to bring a load of sin upon this Rock? No positively no! But rather cleanse ourselves from all sin. Glory to God, the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin, and saves to the uttermost. We have been tried most wonderfully, for God wants a tried people, and glory to His Holy Name, we have grace sufficient to stand on His Holy word.

Since I have found the true light, I will say, the devil has appeared to me in many ways, but I am sweetly resting on Jesus’ breast, with the true love and glorious promises from God through Jesus Christ that if I stand steadfast there is a mansion prepared for me. O what must we be to reign in glory with Him forever? The thought sweetly comes: Pure, holy and clean. Why do not more people see the true way; the holy way, and place them selves a living sacrifice upon the Altar? One reason is because too many learned preachers teach that we cannot live without sin. All such are full of dead formality. “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof; from such turn away” — 2 Tim. 3:5. But let us not stop here. Bead again the 7th ver. “Ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth’’. This sort of false teachers go slyly around leading away the weak, and they are never able under such teachers to know the truth of the Gospel. We must not only believe on Christ, but live pure and holy lives in order to be saved.

Ministers of the Gospel are bound to be wise, as well as harmless, to fore-see evils and avoid them. Although they are not to be afraid of men. they are to beware of them and so to act as not needlessly to put themselves in their power. Why net stand firm upon this? “And the Lord shall deliver me from every work, and will preserve me unto His heavenly kingdom; to whom be glory forever and ever Amen!

Who will He deliver? those false teachers? No, no. Glory to God, the pure ones.

What a glorious privilege we have. God being our refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble; and His precious blood keeps us clean and free from all sin.

“O Lord God in Thee do I put my trust. Save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me. He hath also prepared for Him the instruments of death, He ordaineth His arrows against the persecutors”.

We have been bolding meeting here for some time, and find we have many trials. Members of the sects are opposed to the good way, and go so far as to get up in our meetings and call us liars and hypocrites, but Glory to God we are under the blood and saved and know no other way but the true way, and the true Word has not been destroyed for the true light has shone into one poor soul, and many others are seeking. We will continue the work as long as the Spirit leads.

Pray for us, dear saints, for we are alone, save the help of our blessed Jesus, who is always near those that love Him.

Cedarvale, Kan. May, 3, ’89.

Dear Brethren: — May God’s richest blessings attend you in the fullness of His dispensation.

How I would love to greet all face to face, and join in the holy chorus to almighty God; awaiting the great meeting to part no more, I consign my love to all saints.

After leaving Humboldt, we started for Cherry Vale, but God opened the way for meeting four miles north of there, rather unexpected to us, near sister Schwartzs’. It was not largely attended at first, but God was with us in a remarkable manner, and the interest and number increased to the last. Praise God forever! Some were saved, and some reclaimed who had once been in the light and wondered away, some into sin and sectism, but by God’s help they saw their condition and fled for their lives and escaped. Glory to God! some were deeply under conviction, would not yield but promised they would soon. God help them to yield. Well it was a week of feasting to our souls. Praise the name of Jesus! The country was stirred for some miles. Some of the dear saints came from Chanute on Sunday; which added much to the fuel. Among those who took a bold stand for God was sister Tiny Schwartz. She received a blessed experience. She accompanied us with others to Cherry Vale. We did not find things as we would have liked, but with sword, helmet and shield, put to the battle. Some were on the compromise line. The meeting was held in the cumberland Presbyterian meeting house; which was not in use at the time. Two consecrated for sactification and one of them renounced the sect. He had been an M. E. preacher many years and it was death, but we told him he must walk in the light or God would send a strong delusion. We had the opportunity of talking with some prominent persons. But they failed to accept the light. God save the people from the delusions. They want a tabernacle meeting after a while.

At the close of this meeting the way opened, and we came home for a few days. We preached at centennial S. H. found some dear ones standing true to God, but some were led captive by the god of this world. The devil has many ways to capture, and one of them is the Farmer’s Alliance. Some thinking it is for the benefit of the fanner, have gone into it in spite of all the teaching they have had, and of course the result is, they have no salvation. God save the dear souls from all the works of the devil.

Your Bro. sanctified wholly, equiped for the warfare. Hallelujah! Amen!

VICTORY! VICTORY!!

Another victory for Jesus. The meeting closed here yesterday with wonderful victory in Jesus’ name. Quite a number of precious souls were delivered from the clutches of the devil, and made free in Jesus. The meeting commenced the 19th, and continued 8 days. God was with us in preaching, the Word, slaying sin upon the right and upon the left; souls were saved nearly every meeting. During the meeting there were 15 consecrations, for sanctification, and 11 for pardon; most of whom were prodigals who had been away from Father’s house for a long time. Some who had been seeking for a long time were wonderfully saved. 7 were buried with Christ in baptism, and many more are under conviction for salvation, but will not yield. God help them! Several others are to be baptized yet. We go to-day to Willow Chapel, 3 miles west of Portland, Jay Co., Ind. We expect to be at Sweetser, Grant Co., Ind., about the 10th or 11th of May, and at Roanoke Ind., about the 20th. Will also attend the Lima, Ind. grove-meeting.

Pray for us. Your Bro. free in Jesus.

OBITUARIES.

>:o:<

Nancy Wingert, was born July 4, 1852, in Whiteside Co. Ill. where she died, Apr. 22 ’89. aged 36 years, 9 Mo. and 18 days.

Was joined in matrimony with Adam A. Wingert Jan. 12, 1875. Leaves a husband, seven children, father and mother, two sisters and three brothers who all have the blessed assurance, that their sad loss is her happy and eternal gain. She was afflicted for about two months with drepsy, during which time she seemed to have no desire to recover, but to depart and be with Christ, which is for the better. About two weeks before her death, she received the assurance that she was going home. She admonishing all who came to her bedside to meet her in heaven, and would not let go their hands until they promised to do so. There were probably more than one hundred who made the solemn vow, and we pray God, that it may constantly keep fresh in the memories of those of the number who are unsaved, until they humbly submit to the divine will of God, and receive the witness of the Spirit, and thus be able to meet those who have gone before. During the last few days of her life she often remarked, “I am waiting, patiently waiting for my summons, I have examined my consecration, and praise the Lord I find it complete.” One year ago she entered into the blessed experience of sanctification. When she came to leave this world, she found to her great joy, that she was already dead to all things of earth, and had been for one year. Thus she was enabled to pass away in a glorious completeness of a full salvation. One of her brothers requested of her, to give some sign or raise her hand if she could, as soon as she could see into the beyond. She promised that she would if she could. As life was fading from her dying eye, and apparently as her last breath was drawn, to the inexpressable joy of the family, and those who stood around her dying bed, she raised her hand. She again revived, however, from this straggle with physical death, and said that she had seen a beautiful light, and heard a voice that said she “must wait until to-morrow and be patient;’’ just at the close the ‘‘tomorrow,” and before the dawning of the third day, she passed over into the “beautiful light.” “For there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign forever and ever. Rev. 22:5; Her admonition to the saints as they came to clasp her hand for the last time, was, “dear saints, keep the evening fight shining.” The church feels the severe loss of one who was so faithful in her capacity, and yet this blessed consolation fills each heart, that while there is one saint less on earth, there is one more in heaven.

Dear Nancy it seems that you’ve only gone
On a pleasure tour, to a summer land,
We can hardly think that you’ll never come
Again to clasp our hand.

You said that we should not weep for you.
The fountain of tears to us seems dry,
And yet from our eyes with throbbing hearts
There falls a tear of joy.

How sweet to our hearts are your dying words,
As you stuggled and gasped for parting breath,
You were enabled to say with a calm of heaven,
“Where is thy sting O Death?”

The “victory” you said you had in your soul
Through Jesus who died, and loved us so,
“And washed us from our sins in His blood,
And made us whiter than snow.”

Through many a changing scene of life,
We hand in hand have journeyed on;
For you the cares of life are now past
The toilsome journey done.

Though double the cares on some of us fall,
We lean on the truth of God’s own word;
“Together all things” now “work for good
To them that love the Lord.”

We’ll patiently bear all our lot in this life,
And wait till our happy “to-morrow” comes;
Then we’ll meet you there in that “beautiful land”
Forever to dwell at home.

Near Esterville Ala. April 18, ’89, Kittie, daughter of Bro. and sister Adam Long, formerly of Beaver Dam Ind. was taken home to be with the Lord. Aged 1, year 8, Mo. and 13 days. The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away, blessed is the name of the Lord. The Lord bless and comfort the parents, and friends, and give them grace to live prepared to dwell with the child.

O when our loved ones pass away,
T is sweet to know that God is love.
That thought can wipe our tears away
It whispers, all is peace above.

Love is too wise and good to err,
And love has called our darling home,
Thy will, O Lord! be done with her,
But help us join her round thy throne.

Glen Aldine, son of Henry R. and Mary E. Jeffrey, departed this life April 21st. 1889, to dwell with Jesus. He was 13 years, 2 months and 10 days of age. His funeral was well attended, and very impressive. There were many sad hearts, and his memory will live long in the minds and hearts of his many true friends,

OUR DARLING BOY — WRITTEN BY HIS FATHER.

We linger round the lifeless form,
In which our boy did dwell,
And with our broken hearts we say,
God doeth all things well.

We would not call our darling back,
If it were in our power,
Tho’ death’s cold frost has nipped the bud,
In Heaven will spring the flower.

Yes, darling, we shall meet again,
Where death cannot destroy;
And take from us no more away,
Our precious darling boy.

Yes, father, mother, sisters dear,
And brothers, too, shall meet
The loving boy that’s gone before,
To walk the golden street.

Dear darling one beyond the sky,
We’ll wait till Jesus’ call;
Then, we will hasten to your side,
Were coming, one and all.

Not farewell, but good morning Glen.

THE KINGDOM HAS COME.

—:o:—

Thy kingdom come thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Matt. 6:10; Thus Christ taught his disciples to pray. We often hear this text quoted in this manner, “Thy will be done ON earth, as it is in heaven.” Which is incorrect; “ON earth,” changes the meaning of the text entirely, and conveys a different meaning than that which Christ meant, and so by quoting it “ON earth,” many have formed the idea that before this prayer is answered, this earth will be cleansed by fire, and Christ will set up a literal kingdom thereon. This is what the Jews and Pharisees were looking for; and Christ being asked by them, “when the kingdom of God should come,” he answered them in a manner to give them to understand, that His kingdom was not a literal one, that is, of this world, for so He answered Pilate “John 18:36;” “and when He was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, He answered them and said, the kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, lo here! or, lo there! for behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17:21. By this the savior did not wish to convey the idea that the kingdom was in the hearts of these Pharisees: but He wanted them to understand that when the kingdom did come, that it would be without any outward show, and it would be set up in the heart of mankind; “for the kingdom of God is not in meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, in the Holy Ghost.” Rom. 14:17. And again Paul says: “for the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power;” 1 Cor. 4:20; by reading the text in Matt. 6:10; we see that the coming of the kingdom and the will being done, stand closely connected. That when the kingdom shall come the will shall “be done in earth” at the same time. Now what about this will being done in earth?” Paul writing to the Ephesians 5:17, says: “wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is,” and again in 1 Thess. 4:3, he says: “For this is the will of God even your sanctification;” so we clearly see that the will of God is our sanctification,” wrought in the soul, by the reception of the Holy Ghost, which is the sanctifier. Rom. 15:16; “by the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Heb. 10:10; here again we see that the will is our sanctification and it is wrought in earth as Paul says. “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,” — 2 Cor. 4:7; “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 Cor. 5:1; And again Jesus said: “he that is of the earth is earthy,” Jno. 3:31; so we see by connecting the scripture that the kingdom of God is set up in the soul, when the will is done “in earth” by the baptism of the Holy Ghost. A kingdom is the dominion of a king and such is our hearts After the great triune God comes in, and takes complete posession, for saith the scripture, “know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 1 Cor. 3:16; also, “for ye are the temple of the living God; us God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” 2 Cor. 6; 16; and again the scripture saith: “our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost, * * * and we are not our own.” 1 Cor. 6:19); so the kingdom of God has come; Matt. 6:10; the will has been done “in earth,” this prayer was answered on the day of Pentecost, when the great “Hagion Parakletos” (holy spirit) came with consuming fire and took up his abode with them. And they coulds ay with Paul, that the father “hath delivered us from the powers of darkness and hath translated us INTO the kingdom of His dear Son. Col. 1:13;” Hallelujah to God! we have been delivered from satan’s kingdom and God hath placed us in to his kingdom, and the king of righteousness sits upon the mystic inner throne, and sways a supreme sceptre over the kingdom and everything is in subjection to His divine will. Therefore let us “walk worthy of God, who hath called us unto His kingdom and glory.” 1 Thess. 2:12; and again by this we can clearly see what the savior meant when He spake to the people thus. “Verily I say unto you, that there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. Mark 9:1; also Luke. 9:27. Many take in connection with this, Jno. 21:20, 21; “Jesus said, if I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? * * * and the saying went abroad, that this disciple should not die; but Jesus did not say, he shall not die, but if I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?” as then the saying that this disciple should not die, so now, and we too used to be taught this in babel confusion, also, that this disciple was on earth at the present day, and would be when Jesus should appear the second time without sin unto salvation. This disciple spoken of was John, and he being banished to the Isle of Patmos, and after the death of the Emperor, A D. 96, he returned to Ephesus and wrote his Gospel, and died and was buried there. (Bible His.) So we see that the kingdom which they were to see set up was the spiritual kingdom of God which they saw come! and was set up on the day of Pentecost. Hallelujah we have now entered it and we reign in this life by one Jesus Christ. Amen.

Dear Saints of the Most High: — Surely we are made to exclaim: O what a great salvation! Surely God has wrought a great work here in this country. A little over a year ago the people were drunk on babylon wine; but the Gospel of Jesus Christ was preached, and a few souls saw where they were drifting and accepted salvation. But when the Word was preached and the standard of salvation raised to a Bible standard, they fount that the holy ministers did not try to please man, but preached the straight Word. Some would not come to meeting any more. God has a little band of saints here who are out on the straight line of holiness, and do not shun to declare the whole counsel of God. On the 14th of April we commenced Sunday-school in the name of King Jesus. Let all the dear saints pray for us that we may be useful in this great work of salvation. We should all labor earnestly and pray much that this great work may go on and that many souls may be saved. On last Sabbath one dear soul was buried with our Savior in baptism, and thus shewed forth the answering of a good conscience toward God. O praise God! My testimony is that I am saved and walking in all the light that God lets shine in my pathway; and I do know that God has sanctified my nature.

From your free brother in Christ Jesus.

Dear Saints Everywhere, Greeting: — May the Lord bless and keep you forever, amen. I praise God for a full and free salvation just now, and for His wonderful keeping power that keeps me through all trials and temptations. Praise His holy name forever!

About two years ago God saved my soul, sanctified my nature, and filled me with His holy Spirit. I had been an invalid for many years, and God showed me by his precious Word that He had the power to heal my body; and through faith in prayer, and by the laying on of hands I was healed, for which I give God all the glory and praise. Since that time I have taken Him for my family physician and helper in all times of need. I am trusting in Jesus continually with victory in my soul. Hallelujah to God! Pray for me that I keep very humble at the feet of Jesus.

I remain your sister saved and under the blood.

Dear Saints: — I praise the Lord that He saves me just now and at all times. I was a great slave to tobacco for 35 years. Sometimes I chewed twenty-live cents’ worth a day. On the tenth of last November God showed me that it was wrong, and I consecrated myself to Him and He removed the appetite, and cleansed me from it; also from tea and coffee, and has removed my stubborn nature, and keeps me saved.

Dearly Beloved Brethren: — May the Lord bless you and preserve you unto His coming. Amen.

I praise God for a corner stone upon which to place my feet, and for the sweet rest that my Savior gives me. Praise God forever! It is blessed to know that God can save us, though we may be surrounded by howling men and hissing devils, who hate God and the dear saints because they will not conform to the world; but stand out free in Christ. I praise God for freedom from sect babylon. My life is hid with Christ in God.

Saved and sanctified, ready to be revealed in the last time. Praise God forever. Will some one please send me Bro. J. W. Sickles’ address?

Dear Saints: — Praise the Lord for salvation full and free! I belonged to the so-called Church of God for 13 years, but heard the voice: “Come out of her my people,” and I obeyed, and He saved me and sanctified my soul, and cleansed me from all filthiness of the flesh. He has taken away all fear and given me a clean heart and made me free in His love.

Dear Brethren in Christ: — I do praise God this morning for salvation full and free, and His saving and keeping power. O glory to God! I will rejoice and praise Him forever. I will continually sing praises to Him who hath redeemed my soul, for he hath taken my feet from, the mire and clay, and set them upon the Rock, and established my goings, and hath put a new song in my mouth, even praises to our God. O I do praise God for this blessed evening light which shines into my soul; and that God did give me a willing heart to accept His truth. O praise God forever and ever! The saints here are standing firm for God. The Lord is working mightily here with signs following: “They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.” O how it does make our heart rejoice to see and hear of the wonderful works of God! Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound; they shall walk O Lord in the light of thy countenance. In thy name shall they rejoice all the day; and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted: for the Lord is our defence, and the Holy One of Israel is our King. O how my soul is filled with His praises to-day! O glory! glory!! hallelujah!!! for the Lord openeth the eyes of the blind, He raiseth them that are bowed down; the Lord loveth the righteous; the Lord preserveth the strangers; He relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked He turneth upside down. The Lord shall reign forever, even thy God, O Zion unto all generations. Praise ye the Lord. Amen. Your sister hid away with Christ in God.

Dear Brethren: — We are praising God this morning for the blessed experience of Bible salvation, which saves us from everything that is not of God. O how our souls are filled with praises to Him that liveth forever, and gives us this freedom which we have in Christ Jesus our Lord. We have had some persecution, but we give God all the glory for giving us the victory. Pray for us.

Dear Saints: — We are saved and sanctified and kept by the power of God. Glory to Jesus forever! Through the grace of God we are still standing on the Rock Christ Jesus. We are not without trials and persecutions, but while the enemy rages we realize God is with us in His saving and keeping power. O we are so glad that God ever sent His ministers to this place to preach the true Word, and that He was pleased to lead us out, after traveling in sect bondage for about 12 years. Praise the Lord! He has taken us out of the sect, and the sect out of us, and to-day we are free. Pray for us that we may ever stand firm on the Rock.

Dear Saints: — If eel led of God to give my testimony in favor of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am now 74 years of age and never heard sanctification preached until about 3 months ago. I had been a member of the Methodist sect over 40 years, trying to make my way to Heaven, sinning and repenting; and at no time did I ever feel ready to meet my Savior. But praise God! I do know that I am ready any moment. I am living complete in Him; kept from all sin and I do know that Jesus is a saving portion. Oh how I do praise God for this peace and love and comfort which I do posess. There are a few saints here in this place, and as I am old and cannot get out much they all meet at my home every Tues. night, and we have glorious meetings. The Lord is with us. We are praying for the salvation of souls in this place.

Pray for me, dear saints, that I may be ever kept low at the feet of Jesus.

Dear Saints: — I am saved and healed by the mighty power of God. My soul says praise the Lord. I am deprived of the blessed privilege of meeting with the saints as there is no Church here. I am out of all sects and stand free for Christ. I thank the Lord for this blessed evening light that now shines in my soul, and that I was ever permitted to hear the Word of God preached in its purity. I pray that the time will soon come when God will send some of His humble servants to this place, as there are souls here that are hungering for this blessed light.

Dearly Beloved Saints: — This morning finds me fully saved in Jesus, and all given up to His will. Last May I was taken with a pain in my left side, and have been bothered with it since that time. Every 4 or 5 weeks I would be very sick and suffer great pain. The brethren laid hands on me for healing and I was relieved for a little time; then it would return again. Last Tues. I was led by the Spirit that leads into all truth, to call for the Elders to lay on hands. I am completely healed by the power of God. The blessed Lord will supply all out needs when we come to Him in a proper manner.

Dear Brethren: — I realize that the Lord saves and sanctifies me fully just now. Bless His name! My heart was never more fully in sympathy with true holiness. We have just been having some experience with the Stumbling Stone type of holiness, which I believe is the worst that can be found. If the Lord wills, I would like to have some of His true holiness ministers visit this part of His vineyard.

Yours on the unsectarian line of holiness,

Dear Brethren: — I feel led to write my testimony for the glory of God. He has saved me from all sin, and sanctified my nature, and keeps me pure within. My soul is feasting at Father’s table, which is rich and plenty. Many are starving for the Bread that is freely given by Jesus, and stand back and will not accept the blessing from our heavenly Father, who is able to save them to the uttermost.

Dear Saints: — This sabbath evening I feel led to write my testimony. I am both justified and sanctified, and trusting God for all things. Oh I do praise the dear Lord for what He has done for me. He keeps me from all sin each day. I was living in sin, and the Lord showed me my condition, and I was brought down upon the bed of affliction. When I confessed my sins to God and He forgave me, then I consecrated my soul and body unto God, He sanctified me, and ever since I have been trusting Him. The Lord wonderfully healed my body of typhoid fever. It was not through my faith but others, that I was healed; for I had not my right mind. We sent for Bro’s David Smith, Lineas, Kilpatrick, and sister Ellis. They anointed and laid hands on me, and I was healed. Praise the Lord for salvation from all sin, ready to be revealed in the last day. Your sister saved and under the blood, made white and tried.

Dear Saints: — I am saved and kept by the power of God unto salvation. O how sweet it is to trust in Jesus, and rest upon His promises. I am free from babel in the spirit, free from to worship God aright. The little company of saints at this place, had an ordinance meeting in obedience to God’s word.

Dear Brethren: — I feel that the Lord wants me to write my experience. O praise the Lord forever and ever. I find Him a present help in time of need. Oh I do praise God for sparing my life to see this glorious evening light, and for His goodness to the children of men. I can never praise God enough for what He has done for me. When I look back and remember what He has saved me from, I am lost in wonder love and praise, and thankfulness, to think and know that we have such a blessed Lord and Saviour, that can save us from all sin, and cleanses us from all unrighteousness through His own precious blood, and keeps us saved by His mighty power each day. I want to trust Him for all things, and keep low down at His feet where I may find sweet rest. I do bless the name of Jesus, that I still have a desire and determination to follow Him whithersoever He goeth.

A happy meeting that will be when all the saints meet around our Father’s throne. Your sister in Christ.
