God Wipes Away all Tears.

_____

Sometimes when tossed on ocean wide,
We long for rest of home,
We long to reach the sunny banks
Of that bright land to come.

But patiently we’ll watch and wait.
And ask the Lord to keep
His children dear on land or sea.
Although we sometimes weep.

With promises such as we find
Within God’s written word,
We’ll march along, our trust in him,
With joy each heart be stirred.

So let’s take courage, battle on,
Upon the narrow way,
And when our race on earth is run,
We’ll reign in endless day.

And when we reach our home at last
And all our trials o’er,
We’ll live and reign with him above
And then we’ll weep no more.

And there we’ll meet with loved ones gone
In bygone days and years,
No more to shed the parting tear;
God wipes away all tears.

GOD’S FAITHFULNESS.

_____

BLESS the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. —  Psa. 103:1. Give thanks unto the Lord, for his mercy endureth forever; trust ye in the Lord; in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.

Oh how beautiful the words of the Psalmist, in giving God the glory due unto his name! Too many of God’s children do not praise him enough. David said, I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. How many with him in adversity as well as in prosperity can say the same? Oh dear ones, this is so of those who put their trust in God; for we read in Rom. 8:28, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. “For the Lord God is a sun and a shield; he will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Oh how many forget the promises of God! We read in Peter, He has given unto us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these we might be partakers of the divine nature. Many times we converse with those who seem to be carrying such a heavy burden and are very much troubled and cast down, and from the expression of their face, and from their life and testimony you would think they were not acquainted with our Savior, who has said we should cast all our care upon him, for he careth for us. And, Come unto me, all ye that labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. They know no rest because they have failed to come in faith believing. For he that cometh unto God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Oh praise the Lord! But those who appear so that they tell to the world that the yoke they are wearing is heavy, you have your heads in the wrong yoke; for the yoke of Christ is easy and his burden light. We read again in Psalms 55:22, Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Many have failed to trust the Lord fully, and are troubled about many things, as to what they should eat or what they shall wear. Oh that people would learn to trust the Lord! It brings such rest and peace at all times. “Trust in the Lord and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.’’ Every true child of God only wants to live for his glory. “Commit thy way unto the Lord, trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” The Savior said, Take no thought for the morrow. After these things do the Gentiles seek. Again, Consider the lilies. He did not mean that we should just sit down and fold our hands. Oh no, the farmer plows and sows. This is his part; we must do our part, and God will do for us what we can not do. One poor man in Kansas thought he was called of God to labor in the gospel, and that he must study for two or three years in order to be prepared for the field. And he would not work, but said the Lord would provide. Now he was not where God wanted him, nor where any of the promises could apply to him. He became destitute and his family in great need, and the cause of Christ suffered reproach on the account of such fanaticism. He also professed holiness. God keep all the dear saints from error. The promises are to those who trust in the Lord and do good; verily thou shalt be fed.

We have the example of the widow who ministered to Elijah, and also of Jesus feeding the five thousand. And he has told us that the earth is the Lord’s and the fulness thereof. The Psalmist said, Once I was young, but now am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread. “They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abideth forever.” We may be tested and sorely tried; but remember the promise, If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall be granted. Again I say unto you, where two on earth agree as touching any one thing, it shall be given. Oh praise the Lord! But suppose we do not receive. Ye ask and receive not because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Behold the Lord’s hand is not shortened that it cannot save, neither his ear heavy that he cannot hear; but your iniquities have separated between you and your God; your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. “We know that God heareth not sinners.” Jno. 9:31. And again, persons may really be saved and asking God for something they really need, and it is the will of God for them to have it, but yet God may want to teach them some lesson, and may withhold the gift in order to have them to inquire what the matter is, and therefore get the benefit that God designs they shall have. The Lord is very loving and kind. We read in Isa. 54:7, 8, For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercy will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer. It was said by the prophet Isaiah, in chapter 61:1, “The spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because he hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; * * * to comfort all that mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.’’ Oh praise the Lord! And now in St. John 17, Jesus said, As thou hast sent me into the world, so I have sent them. And we read again, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath no place to lay his head. Your sister, separated unto the gospel,

Lena L. Shoffner.

ARE WE BLIND ALSO?

John 9:40.

_____

OUR Savior when upon earth went about fulfilling his mission to mankind, “For he taught as one having authority, and not as the scribes.” The elements obeyed him; the wind, the sea, and death itself could not hold its subjects in its embrace, but they rose at his command. The multitudes were astonished beyond measure. Such exclamations as the following, and many others, burst from the lips of many that witnessed the power manifested in the Savior: “We have seen strange things to day,” “What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.” “Since the world began, was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.” His works in themselves were sufficient proof of their origin — were all the testimony necessary to convince the most scrupulous, and incredulous mind of any age or nation. But astonishing as it may appear, the rulers and leaders of his own nation were the most forward of all others in censuring, opposing, persecuting, and the most eager to ensnare, condemn and destroy the Savior. And why? Because of their exalted position in their own estimation. Claiming to be superior to all other nations: the only church in the world that God acknowledged as his; claiming Abraham as their father; basing their hopes upon the faithfulness of Abraham, without meriting, yea, rather forfeiting their claims to the inheritance of faithful Abraham. Hence, when Christ’s teaching revealed to them their true position, they would not believe, but became his enemies, regardless of the overwhelming proofs of his being the Savior of the world. They would not lose their fancied position on any account, but remained willfully blind and ignorant of the plan of salvation. They would not be taught, but would be teachers. Consequently on a certain occasion, justifying themselves, they asked the question at the head of this article, “Are we blind also?”

Now dear reader, if you and I be wise, we will profit by what we read. It is wisdom on our part to learn from the experience of others. In comparing past with present events, I would ask, Are the days of miracles past? Is it not quite a miracle to convert the sinner, and make him a newborn babe in Christ? Is it not quite a miracle to remove or heal leprosy (sin) of today? or, to open the eyes of those blinded (some from their birth) by sin and false teachings? or, to raise them that are dead in tresspasses and sins to life again? I will here refer to several passages, to show what followed the operation of the Spirit upon those that believed before and after the coming of the Savior.

In many instances David expressed himself in terms similar to the following: Oh, clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. — Psa. 47:1. No doubt if David would worship in some of our congregations of to day, he would be despised as he was in the eyes of Michal, the daughter of Saul, when she saw him through a window, leaping and dancing, and that not a little, but with all his might. Read his history and the productions of his own pen, and you will readily perceive his character and manner of worship. But you would perhaps say, Such proceedings did well enough in his time, but will not do at all in our day. Nay, more: would be an outrage upon all order and regulation. When came about the change? God was pleased with him them, and I believe would be now if he was here. Hear God’s own testimony concerning him. I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will. — Acts 13:22. Next we pass on to the time of Christ, and what do we read? And the multitudes that went before and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the soil of David; blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; hosanna in the highest. — Matt. 21:9. And also, what the impotent man did when healed: And he leaped up and stood and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking and leaping and praising God. — Acts 3:8. Now I would ask, Are like manifestations of the power of God not as convincing in our day, as they were at and previous to the coming of the Savior? or, do we also as did the Jews, “seek a sign?” Do we require more proof than God gives us? Are we less guilty than they (the Jews) ,when we ignore the presence and the power of the Savior, and inscribe his works to the devil (“Beelzebub”), saying, it is a Methodist or some other evil spirit? Or, will we not believe, despite all the evidences that Christ and his Word bring to bear upon the fact that he is the Savior of the world still? that he is your and my Savior? If so, we would not believe though one rose from the dead and preached to us. Oh! then I would implore every individual into whose hands this may fall, as you value your life, take the testimony furnished you, for you will receive no other until the promises of God are verified in your own heart. Christ not only had, but has to day power on earth to forgive sins. But you say, when will he do this? I answer, immediately; just as soon as we believe. How shall we know it? By receiving that instant, and unquestionable evidence in our hearts. It is on the condition that we believe, that our sins are forgiven, that we are saved. Let that be when or where it may, if at death, better than not at all. But why not believe and be saved now? Secure the favor of God at once, that you may live right, and you will be sure to die right. It is not dying that saves us, but faith in the healing power of the blood of Christ. “According to your faith be it unto you,” — (words of the Savior) is as effectual to day as it was eighteen hundred years ago.

Dear reader, do you believe this assertion? If not, how much testimony do you want? The Bible is full of overwhelming proofs, and you can if you will, hear the testimonies of thousands of individuals, old and young, that have realized this precious truth. And if you will regard it as worthy of your notice, I will here cast in my own testimony in support of the fact, that there is reality in religion: not an imaginary something to talk about, a mere fiction; but something real, something that can be felt, enjoyed, heard, seen, etc. Something that you can assuredly know that you are in possession of. But in order to obtain this knowledge, you must believe what God in his Word tells you: hold him to his promises, and continue to urge the matter before him and his people until you receive a satisfactory answer, or, are forced to give expression in some form or other, of an inward work. And if you should possibly clap your hands, leap or shout aloud for joy, do not be alarmed, but go and tell what the Lord has done for you. Let reason answer the following questions.

Was the fact that they were the children of Abraham sufficient to save the Jews? Is the fact that we are the followers of, or copy after some pious, great and good man, any security to us in the day of trial? Does it give us any assurance of heaven? Is the fact that we believe as did some pious father, and practice and suffer as he did, entitle us to an heirship in God, a home in heaven? I again repeat, there is but one remedy for sin, and ever has been since the world began, and that is the blood of Christ, made available by faith. And this was the remedy previous to his coming, as well as after. Faith in the promised Messiah was as effectual as faith in a crucified and risen Savior. And to day this remedy is as potent, as efficient and as sure as it was in any period of the world’s history.

Now, this being the fact, will we be so exceedingly unwise as to take the position of the scribes and Pharisees (formal professors) and content ourselves with forms, creeds and ceremonies, while we see many out of the vast multitudes of deaf, lame and blind (sinners) made whole, sound in every part, and testifying that it was the Savior who healed them, and praising God (sometimes with a loud voice) for the wonderful cures wrought upon them? Who are more imbittered against the operations of the Spirit of God as manifested in our day, than formal professors? The world is not so persistent in crying down the cause of Christ, and opposing it, as are they. And why? Because, if they would acknowledge the hand of Christ in this way, it would lower them (as it did the Jews) in their own estimation, and reveal to them their true position. It would strip them of their self-righteousness, and leave them without hope, destitute, naked, blind. Hence, they are prompted to defend and hold their fancied position as best they can. And when the question is pressed upon them, evasively ask, “Are we blind also?” The reply of Jesus is as appropriate now and in this case, as it was when spoken. “If ye were blind ye should have no sin; but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.” The word of God is true even to this present time, and is being fulfilled, not only in opening the spiritual eyes of the people, but also in opening the literal eyes, and healing those who are sick and lame. Jas. 5:14.

Whitney, Ind.

Dear Saints: I am impressed to write a few lines for the Gospel Trumpet this afternoon, as I have not the opportunity of meeting with any of you. I must say God is wonderfully blessing me, although the influences around me are very evil. Yet I know by looking up with a prayer, the Lord will not forsake me. But I would ask the dear saints to pray for me that I may not be afraid nor ashamed to manifest Jesus in my life, that my unsaved neighbors and friends may know I am a child of God. I also praise God for healing me of catarrh in the head five years ago. The enemy of all righteousness tries to make me think I am not healed, but it was too plain. I had not a clear passage of air through my nostrils for three days previous to my healing, but soon after anointing and prayer, my head began to clear up and it seemed I never breathed so clear in my life, and it has never bothered me since. I would love to have any of the workers going east or west via of Chicago to stop and see us. Yours in Christ,

Mamie Sprague.

PUBLISHER’S PREFACE
OF THE BOOK ON FREE MASONRY.

_____

As many volumes, both opposing, and favoring Free Masonry, have been published and scattered broadcast throughout the land, yet we realize the great need of a brief work being placed in the hands of every person belonging to a secret order, or who may have any intention of joining such with the hope of bettering their condition.

It is hoped that these few pages will have the desired effect, and be the means of rescuing many precious souls from the snare that is laid to entrap them and lead them on and on until redemption is beyond their reach.

It is our aim to sound the alarm, and give a note of warning in due time to the great danger in pursuing the deceptive course marked out for them, leading them on into mysterious and unknown paths, bringing peril and eternal destruction to their souls. It is also intended to show the plane of Masonic religion, and compare it with the teachings of the Holy Bible. Every professing Christian should know these things, not only for their own benefit, but also for the purpose of warning their children and others against impending danger.

Dear reader, if you are a member of a secret order, do not cast this book aside until you have read and re-read its pages and pondered over the truths contained therein. Your soul is in the balance, and much depends upon your decision in the matter; a wrong step will prove fatal. And to those who have escaped the snare, or who have never been led into its clutches, we trust you will extend a helping hand and aid in the rescue, sparing neither time nor means in so doing, and should you consider this volume worthy of the place for which it is intended, see to it that each of your friends has a copy of the same. We send it forth in the name of Jesus, asking his blessings upon it. Yours in Him. —

NO SECTISM.

_____

Dear Saints: A tract bearing the above title, written by A. Sims has been sent to me to review, which we have now done, and the matter is in the office ready for publication. The tract is well filled with crookedness, and false doctrine, and we hear of the enemies of the Lord and his truth using it in many places. We have thoroughly exposed all its ungodly teaching by the word of God. And our review will be found to be a powerful weapon against the lovers of darkness in the hands of the children of light. But this kind of matter will not be paid for by such as need it, therefore, its publication must be paid for by such as pity men who live in error, and are concerned about others who are exposed to its pitfall. Therefore we humbly ask all the dear saints to contribute toward this good work. The review covers fifty-two pages of common paper, will probably be about a thirty or forty page tract when printed. It not only exposes and refutes the false teaching in the tract, but lays down much excellent positive truth. All interested in this publication please send your orders with aid.

LOVE.

_____

WE find by reading the Bible that love is the essential and foundation principle of a Christian life. Without love, all else is in vain. Man may intend, and man may do, yet it profiteth him nothing if all his intentions and doings are not actuated by pure holy love in the heart. Truly the love of God toward us is of wonderful depth, and as I read and behold the depth of love, God requires of us, I am made to fall before him and ask him to well pack my soul with love.

Love enables us to be long-suffering and very kind; enables us to live humble before God and satisfied with all the dealings of the Lord, envying no man. Men may have their wealth of world, their fame, their honor and show, but he whose heart is filled with the love of God, desires only to sit at Jesus’ feet and love the more. Surely love that enables us to believe all things, to bear all things, to endure all things, and never fails, is worth seeking with all our heart. Recently we wrote an article concerning the moving forward of God with his people, and wish to say now that to move on and increase is to meet all the conditions set forth in the word. Let us be sure that we are obeying the voice of God and observe to do according to all that is written in his book, and then shall he make our way prosperous. God has written us word, that if we give it shall be given unto us; and if we withhold our hand from giving, how dwelleth the love of God in us? When love awakens the heart of man for woman he is careful to do all he can to win her love. If man truly loves God he is zealous to do all he can to win the love and favor of God. Then be it remembered that “God loveth the cheerful giver.”

Now from what we have seen, we are forced to conclude that many of the people professing Christianity do not fill the Bible measure on the line of giving. I doubt not but there are many who sit at tables well laden with the necessaries and even luxuries of life, and have much cast cut to waste, while perhaps others have gone to their day’s labor or to their night’s rest with a scanty meal. Of the two classes, the latter is the more blessed of the Lord. Now here is a line of truth. Those who have given all their time to the Lord and realize their immediate dependence upon him, are prevailing upon God for a fulfillment of his word that he should supply all their needs. God will fulfill his word to those that obey him. So when the obedient come, making their needs known unto God, he calls for his substance at the hand of some others, but if they refuse to obey the call, God will fulfill his word if he has to use sinners, but it is done at the souls’ expense of those who do not love him sufficient to heed his call and give of their substance. May the Lord stir up it the hearts of his people an earnest desire to love him with all the capacity of their soul, and pray to God to enlarge their capacity for loving him in deed and in truth. Dear ones, let us live near enough the gates of heaven to hear the Lord when he calls for his own and freely give it him. Let us make sure that we have a readiness to obey the voice of Jesus, no matter what he may ask of us. Observe to do all that is written in the book, and he shall prosper our way. Give and it shall be given unto us. It is worth all to me to have God’s approving love upon me. Bless his name! Yours in holy love,

C. Orr.

Dear Saints of God: I feel called by God to write my testimony. I know I am saved and sanctified by the word of God, and when I look back at what I was and what I am now it seems wonderful, — wonderful the power of God to save to the uttermost. I was in the Methodist sect, a prayer leader, a Sunday school teacher and a great worker at the chapel; and we used to hold meetings at our own house. Well, one night when I came home my wife told me she had been to hear two American Evangelists. She told me it was wonderful the way they revealed the word of God; she said she knew they were sent by God. Then she commenced to tell me about sanctification night after night. Well, I thought she was going crazy, and I thought if God sent those Americans I hoped he would call them back again. Well you see I did not know God; but he led me to the meeting one night to bring my wife home. I stood at the back of the hall, and when the meeting closed Bro. Henry came up to me and asked me if I was saved. I was ready for him and spoke with a bold, yes. Then my wife called Bro. Achor and said, This is my dear husband. He put his arms around my neck and looking at me in the face, said, Could you give up the use of tobacco for the Lord? Well, clear saints, I at once lost my bold yes and went away. But I thank God the seed was set that was going to grow and bring forth fruit. Well, a few days after, my dear wife was baptized in the river, and by seeing the way my wife was going and the great change in her, I started to go to the meetings; and very soon God had me down at the altar. Praise God! He took away from me that craving for tobacco and the taste for drink; for I had been a great smoker for twenty years and chewed tobacco for ten years, and I would sooner have given up my meals than my tobacco. But praise God. I have never wanted it since.

Well my brother leaders at the chapel and the school began to wonder what was the matter with me, for I did not take my pipe out and light up when I got out of school. I told them I was sanctified, and that it was a sin before God. They said I had gone wrong and we could not live without sin, but they all admitted I was a changed man and that for the better. I invited them to the meetings and several came, but the Word was too strong, and they went the way of all flesh. But God called me out from among them and I answered the call. I was still engaged to speak at one of the meetings, and as God led I went and delivered the message, but I received a letter afterwards from one of the leaders telling me I got too excited and it affected the nerves of some of the old folks, and I must stop or the meetings would be closed.

Well praise God, I am out from among them all. We felt led to have meetings at our house. Bro. Henry came to live with us; then when Bro. and Sister Rupert and Bro. Daugherty answered the call of God and came to England, we had to take a larger house, and we do praise God he sent his saints here; for when Sister Rupert was speaking at one of the meetings, God revealed to me that I was not yet sanctified. That night I again got down at the altar, and God did sanctify me, and when I got up I had an honest testimony. Then God revealed to me that what I had honestly taken for sanctification was only justification. Then as that was the case, I had been preaching in sectism without any salvation at all.

So I was one of the thousands, the blind leading the blind, but I am now in God’s own hands, and he has taken all the big I out of me and put me to the very bottom and quite empty. Praise his name! I have answered the Master’s call. He has made me a bread winner for the Lord by way of supplying the reapers. I thank God he has given me bodily strength to do so, and it is food to my soul to know I am doing it for the Lord, and I thank God he sent his reapers here, for God is bless-

Dear Trumpet Readers: May God bless and keep you all. Amen. This finds us saved and kept in Jesus’ name. Praise the Lord! Meeting at Vandalia closed. Bro. Wilson with us. Meeting at Sharon school house also closed. The Lord was with us in sowing precious seed at the latter place, some sowing at the former place, but it seemed a burnt-over district. I go from here to Adams, Iowa. Bro. Ostis Wilson remains here a few days and will probably join us there. Address at Adams. Iowa. Your saved brother and sister,

Dear Brethren: God bless you all and keep you preserved in him. Since the last writing. God has blessed us with good meetings. The last meeting was in Sumner. Ill., an entirely new field. At first things seemed very much closed up, but as meeting and time went on, God began to work on the hearts of the people and did a good work. Six dear ones were brought out clearly and sanctified. Two converted that were not sanctified. There is a good field now for work there. We find most of the dear saints here in a joyful state. Praise the Lord! Our present address is Lebanon. Mo. Yours saved in Jesus,

Dear Brethren: We are happy to report that the Lord is still with us and our title is clear this morning. We are now at the business center of the two cities (Pittsburgh and Allegheny), and we are having meetings every evening and three times on Sunday. Last Sunday the attendance was good and several held up their hands for prayer. As yet we have but two young workers, but we are expecting others soon. The meeting-house part of the boat is almost finished and we have lights sufficient, but we need two heating stoves. About all the dwelling department is to line and ceil. Two brethren from Allegheny are furnishing the paint and are helping to put it on, and the Lord willing, in a few days we will have the second coat on. Will all the saints pray for the work? All mail to us should be addressed to Floating Bethel. 6th St., Pittsburgh, Pa. Your brother.

Dear Trumpet Family and all Trumpet Readers: Now may the grace and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, is my every day prayer. Amen.

I am still sweetly saved and preserved in Jesus with an everlasting salvation, and complete victory in my soul over all the powers of darkness and devils. Praise God forever and ever! I am walking with God, in the light as he is in the light; and in him is no darkness, and we have perfect fellowship. And O, how blessed and sweet to follow Jesus and to sit low at his feet learning sweet lessons of him! Well, I just came home a few days ago from Garrett, Indiana. Brother Miller and myself held a meeting there. We just went from house to house breaking the bread of life to the hungry souls. We held meeting about three weeks, and souls were being saved in nearly every meeting. Some of God’s little ones consecrated and received a glorious experience, and complete victory over their surroundings, and got established in God the Rock of their salvation. And sinners that never made a profession were saved from their sins, and in a few days later they consecrated for sanctification. One man said after he was sanctified a few days, it did not seem possible that it was himself, such a wonderful change in such a little time. He said, surely old things are passed away, and behold all things are become new. We give God all the glory. There were three buried with Christ in baptism. We closed with a glorious ordinance meeting. A regular prayer meeting is established from house to house.

Dear Ones in Christ, Greeting: The Lord bless you all. We are glad to report victory over all the power of the enemy. Before leaving Michigan we, in company with others, held a few days’ meeting with Bro. Palmer, at his school house, which was a precious feast to our souls. The Lord put his Spirit upon us for the presenting of the truth. Two dear souls were pardoned. The people received the truth. We trust that many will accept it and walk in the light. We closed the meeting and then went to Grand Junction and were present to enjoy the feast which God prepared at the assembly for those who loved him. As it was the last opportunity for us to meet with the dear saints for awhile, truly it was a sacred time, and one long to be remembered by those who were present.

We are now at this place in company with Bro. and Sister G. R. Achor, holding meeting. Will probably sail soon. We are still joyful in glory. God is with us in wonderful power, and does go before us and opens the way. Oh hallelujah! Now we say:

“God be with you till we meet again;
Keep love’s banner floating o’er you,
Smite death’s threat’ning wave before you;
God be with you till we meet again.”

Faithfully your sister,

Dear Saints of God: I can report perfect victory in my soul this morning and say that God is keeping me by his mighty power. Praise his dear name! In our last testimony we stated that we felt God leading us to the coast, and so we do feel yet, but the Lord plainly showed us that he wanted us to stop in Denver for the present, but we know not how long. But bless God, we are willing to stay as long as he wants us. God is wonderfully working on the hearts of the people here and the victory is on the Lord’s side. Four souls have made the start and confessed Christ this week thus far, and others are under conviction. The Lord does wonderfully bless us in going from house to house, distributing tracts and telling people about Jesus, and praying with them, although we get some pretty cold shoulders turned to us and some short answers. But glory to God, our consecration covers it. Dear ones, if you think you are persecuted and tried, let Paul tell you his experience, and you will think yours is too small to tell about yet. Marvel not, brethren if the world hate you and persecute you, for they did likewise to our blessed Savior, and the servant is not above his Master. So let us push the battle to the gates and we know the Word will not return without accomplishing that whereunto it was sent. So let us lay judgment to the line and righteousness to the plummet. Let us expose the devil by flashing the light of God’s eternal truth upon him, which will put him to flight, for he cannot stand the light. Your brother saved and sanctified, and all on the gospel altar,

Dear Saints of God: By the asisting grace of God I will try and give you a report of the camp meeting held here, lasting three weeks, right upon the main street of city, during which time seven-eights of the seated tent was vacant, and but few of the saints with the whole armor on; and many excuses given for absence. I must say it was the dullest camp meeting I ever attended. Not a single soul saved, a heavy expense to one or two persons and nothing accomplished visible, though I trust in God some poor wayfaring man or woman, peradventure, may have caught a good word as they hurriedly passed by. Eighteen persons took part in the ordinance services. But oh so much lacking of the Spirit power! Truly we may say, that the devil will deceive the very elect if possible, in these perilous times; it is now near at the door. In the name of Jesus there must be an advancement in the life and power of holiness among us.

Bro. A. B. Davis is now holding forth at the school house, six miles south of this place; we were there Thursday night; about thirty persons attend; generally good order. Bro. Van Velden has gone to Los Angeles. Wife and I are left here; and if we were to go upon the streets to worship God, Sunday or any other day, we would be the only two there. No assembly of saints here yet established.

To the Saints of the Most High God: As the meetings in which we have been engaged for the last few months have been reported by others in their various localities, we have been silent to many of the readers of the TRUMPET. We have, however, by no means been silent along the line of our journey, but can say in all good conscience toward God and man, that we have done what we could in the precious cause of our Master. God has most marvelously manifested his presence and approval with and upon us since we left this city last April and labored in the many different places between here and Grand Junction, Mich. We can truly say with the primitive disciples, when Jesus asked them if they lacked anything, when sent out without purse, scrip, shoes, etc. The answer was “Nothing.” While we started with an abundant supply of our then immediate needs, God has kept up the supply all along the way, and to day we can truly say that we lack nothing and have traveled thousands of miles and have spent hundreds of dollars in the dear Master’s service. At one time our visible and available resources were reduced to ten cents. We felt much in need that morning for a certain article of clothing and called upon God for some money. The answer came through the word of God, “My God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” We left it with him, trusting him to fulfill his promise. Sure enough that day he sent us ten dollars. Oh how our faith enlarged and we went on our way rejoicing! We could tell of some very interesting and edifying events along the way, would space permit. But we can sum it all up by saying to the dear household of faith, It pays to live so near to God that we can take him at his word. The many exposures and climatic changes have been very hard upon us and the children in some respects, but God has healed all our sicknesses. Praise his dear name!

We reached this city the morning of Oct. 17. A happy company of sanctified ones met us at depot. Oh how we praised God for his mercy unto us all! The precious church is yet upon the sure foundation. The powers of hell have truly been turned against the Lord’s anointed here, but praise his name the Greater One has kept his throne. The most trying ordeal that man can experience has been the lot of some of the dear ones here, but thank God the faith has been kept and “victory” is the triumphant shout to day. Some have fallen while others have been added to the Lord. The church is in a prosperous condition and enjoying a healthy, growth both in spiritual attainments and also in numbers. All who will not meet the full conditions of the gospel of course become weak and sickly and fall by the way. Oh how necessary it is to show people the importance of paying the full price! No one can possibly stand unless every covenant with the inhabitants of the land is broken. How we realize this great necessity! We are at present, comfortably located in our own hired house and ready to join in the ranks against the powers of darkness in this city. God has a number here yet to be gathered out and established. Oh dear saints, we beseech you all in the name of Jesus, sink deeper and deeper into God. The storm is coming, the cloud is ready to burst upon us. While the angels are holding the four winds of the earth and the short period of silence is upon us, let us make wise use of the time. Now is the critical moment. What is done must be done quickly. The opportunity will soon be eternally past. Let each one be sure that we have the real seal of God upon us and then with an unreserved effort enlist ALL of your strength, time, money and every affection into the last great battle. Soon we shall reap if we faint not. Dear ones, please remember us at the Throne. Let all correspondents address us at this place, street and number. As ever your sanctified brother and sister, separated unto the gospel,

J. W. and J. Byers.

To the Dear Saints of God in America, Greeting: It is with joy and great pleasure, I express my gratitude to the God of heaven for permitting me to return to this country and enjoy the sacred fellowship and communion with the dear saints. In looking over the few months past in America, I can truly say it has been fruitful with blessings and benefits to myself and the precious cause of God. I feel more fitted, prepared and qualified for the great work God is requiring of me, to bear the responsibilities and meet the emergencies dependent upon one engaged in such responsibilities of a minister of the wonderful gospel entrusted to us; especially in the foreign countries, among strange people and languages with such peculiar customs, habits and religions.

My coming back to America surely was in the order of God, as many doubtless can testify. God has blessed my labors in the various meetings at Grand Junction; in Nebraska his manifest presence and approval was very precious. At Deerfield he blessed and at Beaver Dam my labor was in the Lord. Since those very precious seasons, with the dear saints in heavenly places in Christ, I spent three weeks at home on the camp ground, fixing house, etc., so as to leave my dear children suitably provided for and situated. Then followed a wonderful week in the general assembly; which was glorious beyond all my past experience. Those past four weeks were the grandest part of all my life. Oh how sweet in our remembrance! God used us much in the work about there and taught us such wonderful things out of his dear word. New beauties, gems and precious jewels, glittering with such hallowed, sacred splendor, and refulgent glory beyond the radiant splendor and luminous glory of diamonds, and more charming and enhancing than the fragrant beauties of rubies, and more melodious to my soul than all the charming music warbled in the cheerful sunshine of Nature’s captivating anthems. Oh hallowed bliss, most sacredly divine! Thy echoes from heaven securely are mine. Oh what sacred times we spent with the dear ones at Grand Junction! Oh my soul expands with glory, glory! My soul is all aglow with the presence of heaven, I know.

But after all, the sacred time came when our dear Father in heaven required my dear wife, dear Sister Lena Shoffner our co-laborer, and myself to bid a long farewell, and separate from our dear children and friends to take our departure to the foreign countries to bear the glad news of salvation to the sin and creed-cursed nations over the earth. You can understand, doubtless, it was a sad parting; father and mother leaving eight dear children to go into distant lands to dwell, as Jesus left all and dwelt here on earth. It echoes to us, the thundering proclamation of the angelic host to the shepherds, of “peace on earth and good will to men.” “Flying through the midst of heaven with the everlasting gospel to preach.” My dear wife took it to God and asked him if it was his will for us to go thus, to make parting easy, and give contentment. When we came to that solemn duty we embraced our dear children and left them in God’s hands as calmly as when we went to Indiana, almost, believing assuredly that God would care for them. Brethren and sisters, may God help each one to remember them as your own in the Lord. We had about two dollars in cash to leave with them, but trusting God to provide all things. If any one is moved to send to them, send to Mattie C. Achor, or Brother E. E. Byrum for her, and the Lord reward you.

Our trip to this place was pleasant. We had expected to stop and visit the saints at Butler, Pa., and see dear Brother Warner, but God ordered otherwise. And we desired to stop and spend one night with Brother Clayton on the Bethel, but God overruled that and we came on to this place, and found the saints praying to God to send us. and truly it was of God, for it was needed and God has been using us and filling our souls more with his glory. We found several very honest souls here ready for the truth, and truly God has sent forth the truth mightily, and the dear saints are sinking deeper down into God and it is glorious. Surely God wants some one filled with the Holy Ghost, straight for God to come over into this eastern coast, for the work is great and the field fertile. Dear Brother Carter and wife from Wilmington, Del. are with us and enjoy the meetings with the saints. May God establish him more and more in the present truth. He desires very much for meetings at Wilmington. Also they tell us at Easton, Pa., there are about thirty who are standing out of sectism and meet to worship God, but desire very sincerely that some one should come and preach the truth to them. Also at Lancaster, Pa., they say about one hundred in the vicinity are standing out ready and believe in holiness. Who will come in the name of Jesus to gather the remnant? There are some who are doubtless called to go into the work that God could use if some one established in the faith could be with them.

We expect to go to N. Y. City, Nov. 2. God willing, and sail the 4th and and in Liverpool the 11th or 12th. Our request is, dear ones, pray for us, that God may keep us. Yours in Christ separated unto the gospel work, sanctified wholly,

G. R. & S. E. Achor.

My Dear Brethren in Christ: I believe it will be to the glory of God to give my testimony and tell you how the dear Lord has led me all through my life until this present time. Fourteen years ago the Lord justified me; I lived in that state, walking in all the light God gave me. During this time he showed me that it was not his will that I should join a sect, although a stranger to the evening light and sanctification as a second work of grace. I thought if ever I attained to that degree of holiness it would be by a growth, and so I taught until within a few months a ago, when I was brought under the teaching of the Bible more plainly by the American brethren who have been and are located at No. 13 Jolliffe Street, Liverpool, and I was convinced that God had more for me, and I made application according to the Word of God and he sanctified me wholly. Praise his name! And now he is leading me out more and more in this glorious light, and has shown me that it is his will for me to go to the brethren in Grand Junction, Mich., U. S. A., to help in spreading the Evening Light to my countryman. As God has blessed me with an education, and I can interpret and translate. At present I am arranging to go to my home in. Norway to rest a little, and then I am ready to go where the Lord directs. I ask the prayers of all God’s people in my behalf and that I may obey my Master. Your brother in the Lord, saved and sanctified,

DEVILS WORKING MIRACLES.

_____

“BLOW ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand.” — Joel 2:1.

The world to day is wrapped in spiritual slumber. (In speaking of the world we have reference only to the great mass of sinners and professors who are void of the Spirit of Christ: for Jesus hath said regarding his true followers, “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” Jno. 17:16.) Millions of souls for whom Jesus shed his own life’s blood, are soothed and lulled into an appalling state of careless indifference, or spiritual somnambulism, by the opiates of deception administered by the hand of Satan. Therefore, God hath commanded his watchmen to blow the trumpet in Zion and sound an alarm, that those who are bound by the chains of despair may be awakened from their deplorable condition, and be delivered from the thralldom of eternal woe.

We are now living in the last prophetic period of time. “Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” Rev. 12:12. Again we read in Rev. 20:7-8, “And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.” Gog and Magog compose an army of deceived people. Therefore we find according to the word of God that Satan’s crafty and cunningly devised delusions are successfully imposed upon myriads of precious souls for their silly credulity in false teachings, and suggestions of the enemy, contrary to the teachings and commandments of the inspired Word. “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.” — 1 Tim. 4:1. Again we read in 2 Tim. 3:13, “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” The archfiends of perdition, like slimy serpents, are rapidly coiling around millions of unconscious souls; and are preparing to strike with poisonous fangs the last fatal blow, upon their reeking, dying victims; while the lowest depths of a never-ending hell are being raked, and all manner of counterfeits and delusions are brought forth.

While God is working through human instrumentality for the salvation of souls, the devil is also working through human instrumentality for the destruction of souls. And the reason why people become deluded is because they do not obey the whole word of God and accept its promises and live, spiritually speaking, by “every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” God in his wisdom has provided a wonderful plan of salvation which is plainly set forth in his precious Word. And when individuals undertake to obtain either justification or sanctification contrary to the Bible rule, they will only incur the displeasure of a sin-avenging God, and receive a delusion of the enemy. The devil is now imitating the Holy Ghost. In Acts 1:8, we read, “But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you. Now the Holy Ghost as an abiding Comforter can only be received by a second definite work of grace; the first work being the forgiveness of our sins, after which we consecrate our all to God and by faith receive the abiding Comforter, the Holy Ghost.

Regarding the devil’s imitations or counterfeits, there is a class of deluded people who claim to teach holiness. They call on God to sanctify their souls and pray for the “power” to come upon them. The result is, the devil comes with a false power and ensnares their souls, touches their nervous systems, causing them to dance in the meeting house, shout and turn black in the face, in addition to falling down and groveling in the dirt, because of false soul burdens which they claim to have. They also claim to have power to heal sickness. We read in God’s word that the working of Satan is with all power and signs and lying wonders. 2 Thess. 2:9. In other words, he has power to work signs and lying wonders through human beings. John the Revelator tells us in chap. 13:4, 13, 14. that the dragon, which is the devil, gave power unto the beast. “And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men; and deceiveth them that dwell on the earth, by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast which had the wound by a sword and did live.” “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth, and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God almighty.” — Rev. 16:13, 14. Regarding the spirits of devils working miracles, we read that Satan afflicted Job; and if he could afflict people then, it is but reasonable to suppose that he can do so now. It is true God permitted Job to be afflicted, and he was a righteous man. Nevertheless we can see that afflictions are brought upon those who are not righteous. By various vices and sins, afflictions are often produced by serving the devil. Therefore he is ofttimes the author of physical ailments. Under these circumstances has he not power to withdraw his afflicting touch in order to practise deception upon the people and imitate the power of God, through people who claim holiness but do not possess it, and also through Christian science? In the name of Jesus I entreat every individual who desires to be a true follower of Jesus, to seek salvation according to the Bible plan. Meet the conditions laid down in the Word, and when you consecrate for sanctification, instead of praying for the power, ask God to purify your heart and fill you with the Holy Ghost. Then accept the precious gift by faith; for when you obtain the Holy Ghost you will have power.

Oh then let us “worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” Jesus is beautiful in all his ways, and we love to hear his true children shout in his order. It is beautiful to see their faces gleaming with heavenly sunshine. God’s little ones do not turn black in the face while shouting, but are told to “arise and shine.” Let all things be done decently and in order. If the Christ in you leaps for joy, leap with him. Stand on God’s word, and live where you can “hear the voice of Jesus talking in your souls, where even the faintest whisper can be heard. “If ye do these things ye shall never fall.” Yours, sweetly saved in Jesus,

Birdie E. Fink.

__________

SERVANTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.

_____

Being made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. Rom. 6:18.

PAUL in writing to the Roman brethren informed them that they were free from sin, and also that they were now servants of righteousness. He furthermore informed them that while they were sinners they were free from righteousness. The doctrine of Paul is not like the doctrine of the sects of to day. They preach that a man cannot be free from sin until the hour of his death. God’s Word says if we die in our sins we are lost, and Luke says that we might “serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness all the days of our life.” — Luke 1:75.

We see from the teaching of the Bible that holiness is to be in this life. I am so glad that the God I serve is not like the God of the sects. He is able to save me from all my sins.

The church of God is a holy church, made up of holy people. The God of heaven is not the God of these sects; for he is not the author of confusion. To serve God we must serve him in righteousness; and to serve the devil we must commit sin. Therefore we know who they are, for they say they cannot live without sin. And John says, He that committeth sin is of the devil. The sects teach that a man can be a Christian and a sinner, but the word of God teaches us, Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin. A man that follows God cannot follow the flesh; for the works of the flesh are of the devil. Therefore let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh. To do this we must abstain, from the use of tobacco, coffee and tea. To be without holiness is to be without God; for God is holy and these people who fight holiness are without God, and do belong to the devil, for he that committeth sin is of the devil. 1 John 3:8.

Nearly all of these sects are following after the flesh. Some of these preachers who pretend to follow the Lamb are seen smoking cigars and chewing tobacco, and their women rubbing snuff. And if a child of God happens to get up in one of their meetings and tell them God has saved him from all such habits, they are the first ones to call him a crank. I am so glad that the Lord has saved me from all of these sects, and heals my body and saves my soul, and sanctifies me wholly. I don’t wonder at John in speaking of these sects or the mother of them saving. She has become a habitation of devils and a cage of unclean birds. Your brother saved under the one Shepherd, in the one fold, and kept by the power of God,

W. D. Beckom.

Dear Saints in Christ: I am saved by the blood of Christ, and am living in hope of the glory of God. I feel the least of all; but I expect to spend the rest of my days in serving God, and increase in faith. I am not yet sanctified, but I ask all the saints of God to pray for me that I may be sanctified wholly. Your brother in Christ,

T. J. Lewis.

Dear Saints of God: This morning finds me saved, bless God, and ready to do the whole will of the Lord. I am also wonderfully healed of God. Oh praise his holy name! I was down with typhoid fever; we obeyed the scripture in James 5:14, 15, sent for the elders, and I am wonderfully healed of the Lord. When they rebuked the disease the fever left me. Your sister saved to the uttermost,

Dear Trumpet Readers: I have been led of the Lord for some time to write my testimony. I am praising the dear Lord for a full and free salvation. I am saved and sanctified wholly, and kept by the power of God. I was healed of the rheumatism of about thirty years standing; and after trying all sorts of medicine, all to no avail, I tried the great Doctor, the Lord Jesus Christ, and he healed me at once. Praise his dear name! I am giving God all the glory for all he is doing for me and my wife. I was saved under the preaching of Brother G. L. and Mary Cole. God bless them. We do miss them so much, but our little band has the victory. We are holding three prayer meetings each week. We bless God for a free and full salvation, that keeps us saved and sanctified and free from sin all the time. Your brother and sister saved in the Lord,

J. B. AND E. Conkey.

Dear Brethren in Christ: I am still saved and sanctified to do the Master’s will. Praise the dear Lord! I was a tobacco user, I tried many ways in my own strength to get rid of that awful appetite I had cultivated for it. For over twenty-nine years I used it, and I had a very strong desire for strong drink. Many times in myself I would say that I would never touch it any more; but when I would get to where it was, that appetite would overcome me. But thanks be to our God, when I came to God he saved me from all my sins and unrighteousness and heals my body, and keeps me by his grace. Pray for me and my wife. We are both saved.

Dear Saints and Trumpet Readers: I do feel that I should give in my testimony for Jesus. I am glad and love to tell what the Lord has done for me. This morning I woke up having severe pains in my back and I asked the dear Lord to drive them away, and thanks be to God he did. Glory be to his holy name forever! I am saved and sanctified by a second work of grace and cleansed by the blood of the Crucified One. Oh words cannot express how wonderful the Lord is. My heart aches when I see so many going down to destruction. I am so glad he ever called after me. God is keeping me from sin, and I give him all the glory for it. Let us pray much for the wicked. I know he is sinking me deeper and deeper. May the good Lord give us all power and victory over all the works of the enemy, and keep us that we may not say or do anything displeasing to his word or in his sight. God bless you all. Your saved sister in Christ,

Myrtie Chapman.

Dear Saints: For the first time in life I attempt to write my experience or a part of it. I am happy in the Lord this evening, and all given up to do his will. Praise the Lord for the glorious Tight of the gospel! I do love to read the TRUMPET, and hear from the saints of God. We are persecuted at this place because we preach the word, and believe that God has told us in his word all that is necessary, and that he is able and will perform all he has told us he would do. This country is filled up with modern infidelity; they reject what God says, and teach for doctrine the commandments of men. Though I think there are a great many honest people here, but they have been so long in the dark that it takes them a great while to see the light and come out of sectism. Your sister in the Lord,

Mary E. Williams.

Dear Readers of the Trumpet: In the name of Jesus I want to testify to the saving power of Jesus. This is my first testimony, and I feel led of the Lord to give it. The Lord has wonderfully blessed me and my family since. I gave up everything for Jesus’ sake. Some three months ago while the brethren were preaching here, praise the Lord forever, he healed my body of a disease which I have had some fifteen years! and during that time I had been taking medicine, but to no purpose. But thank God he has done the work; and praise his holy name, he has done more than that, he has saved my soul and has taken all desire for whiskey, tea, coffee, and tobacco out of my heart, to which I have been a slave for more than three years. Praise God for his wonderful saving power! He has also sanctified me, and I am kept through the power of God from all sin. Oh praise his holy name for this blessed light that he has caused to shine in our hearts! I cannot be thankful enough for what he has done for me. Pray for me, that I may be willing always, as I am now, to measure up to every word of God. Your brother saved and sanctified in Christ,

Levi Pritchard.

I am very thankful to God and to the one who sent me a package of gospel tracts and a copy of the Gospel Trumpet. As I read them I gain strength in the Lord to press on in the battle for the truth.

Some over three years ago I took a bold stand for the truth, and there are a few more here who stand on the word. I know God leads me, but I feel that there is something more for me. I believe that God wants me to preach his gospel; but I feel as though I am not endued with power enough to fight the great enemy of souls. Yet I know that God is able to give me wisdom to carry me through if I only trust and obey him in all things. I have belonged to two different sects, but three years ago I was born of the free woman. Praise the Lord! And the Lord has wonderfully blessed me in answering my prayers, and keeping me from sin. I have been trying to hold up the truth in different places. I rind that it takes the grace of God to battle with the creeds, and contend for the truth. Pray for me that I may be just what God wants of me. I feel that I belong to the body of Christ. I remain your brother in Christ,

D. H. French.

Dearly Beloved Saints and Trumpet Readers: I wish to honor the Master this morning by testifying that I have escaped out of sectism and Babylonian confusion, and the light of the world (Jesus) is gleaming in my soul, making the obscure places in my experience like the sunshine of a cloudless day. Bless the Lord! I will give briefly some of my experience in sectism. At the age of sixteen (during a revival series of meeting at the Missionary Baptist sect near by), I was deeply convicted for salvation, and after manifesting to the members my desire to become a Christian, for two evenings, by the usual expression of standing in the congregation (at the same time seeking the Lord as best I could), I was deceived, and even members older than I told me that I should unite with them and all would become right. So after earnest persuasion I thought those professing ought to know and understand this, so I did unite with them the third evening, to be received as full member after baptism. But oh there was no satisfaction to my soul in this, for there was no peace in my soul. After a few weeks the day appointed to administer baptism arrived, but I did not appear, feeling I was not a fit subject. Well after three years I was converted and united with them again, and was immersed, took an active part in the church work, and superintended the Sunday school for some time. In the meantime I discovered a growing impression that the Lord wished me to preach his gospel. But having only limited education, I like Moses, thought I was unworthy and had not the ability to engage in such a work. The Lord gave me opportunity to commence pointing sinners to the Lamb of God, which I have been doing as far as I have received light and knowledge, since Jan.,1893. But since reading the Trumpet for some time and meeting with the saints in various places, I am fully convinced that they are the church I longed to know of, and the body I wished to discern. I have severed all connection with the sect before named (i. e. license to preach and membership, etc.), and in the name of the Lord I expect to march at his command to enroll names on the Lamb’s book of life, and with license from the God of heaven. Amen.

I wish the dear saints to remember me at the throne of grace, that I may be wholly sanctified, and that I may plainly and unmistakably see and know his leadings in the work of the ministry or whatsoever he pleases, also that I may keep down low at the feet of Jesus. Amen.

Lorenzo Cook.
