GOD CARES FOR ME.

_____

As mountains about Jerusalem,
So is the Lord about the free;
Almighty is his wondrous name;
He cares for them, He cares for me.

Forsaken by each earthly friend,
And though a tramp my lot may be,
By prayer and faith I would depend
On Him, yea Him that cares for me.

God’s wondrous power to me made known,
The blood of Christ my only plea;
Though truth in tears on earth is sown,
‘Tis not in vain, He cares for me.

The rocks of persecution rise
Above life’s raging, tossing sea,
My wings of faith then mount the skies
With joyful shouts, God cares for me.

Oh, what rich pearls from heaven’s vault
When tested faith has grasped the key!
Which in the promise finds no fault,
I know they’re true, He cares for me.

If I were sick and lame and old,
And even had no eyes to see,
I’d firmer to the promise hold:
Jehovah-jireh cares for me.

__________

THE ONE THOUSAND YEARS REIGN.

Binding of Satan, etc. — Rev. 20.

_____

WE have been requested by two or three parties to write an article on the above subject. By the help of the Lord we will now attempt to do so. We acknowledge that it is difficult to make this understood by some people, especially such as have been in the habit of viewing the scriptures from the standpoint of the Millennium doctrine. But we proceed with this consciousness, that we have no will, doctrine, or creed of our own to bias our mind. We only seek to glorify God by bringing forth that interpretation of the scriptures whereby the entire book of God is seen to harmonize, and thereby to edify the children of God.

In the second century Papias, bishop of the church at Hierapolis, seems to have first conceived and taught the idea of a millennium reign of Christ on earth. It was strongly opposed by Origen and others in the third century, and renounced in a general counsel, after which the doctrine of Papias had but few advocates for some centuries. In Eusebius’ Ancient Church History on page 115, Bohns’ edition, we have this passage. Speaking of Papias the writer says:

“The same historian also gives other accounts, which he says he adds as received by him from unwritten tradition, likewise certain strange parables of our Lord, and of his doctrine, and some other matters rather too fabulous. In these he says there would be a certain millennium after the resurrection, and that there would be a corporeal reign of Christ on this very earth; which things he appears to have imagined, as if they were authorized by the apostolic narrations, not understanding correctly those matters which they propounded mystically in their representations. For he was very limited in his comprehension, as is evident from his discourses.”

Eusebius was born about A. D. 270, and wrote early in the next century. It is very evident from the above extract that the church, at that time, looked upon Papias’ millennial reign as a fabulous thing, the product of his imaginations. And, in fact, this ancient historian represents Papius as only claiming “unwritten tradition,” as the ground of his theory.

In the last century or two there has been considerable belief in a coming millennium, but, until the rise of the Miller excitement in 1843 and 4, about all who held the belief of a literal reign of Christ, gave it a more spiritual character, and looked for its appearance before the second advent of Christ. Since that time the signs of Christ’s near coming have been so manifestly unfolding, that the idea of a pre-millennium had to be given up. For it was readily seen that if the Savior was soon to return, no thousand years remained for a premillennium. So that reign became more generally looked for after the Savior’s advent.

The 20th chapter of Revelations has been chiefly relied upon as the foundation of this peculiar belief. It is admitted, and of course must be admitted, that no where else in the Bible is there any mention made of a reign with Christ that is limited to a thousand years. The word millennium does not occur in the Bible, nor yet is it found in the Greek New Testament, but it is derived from the Latin, MILLENI, a thousand.

Now let us with an impartial mind and single eye examine into this matter. Revelations, the mysterious and highly symbolic book of New Testament prophecy, passed before the eyes of John the beloved apostle like a solemn panarama. By casting our eye back along the scene, it will help us to arrive at an understanding of Rev. 20. In 16:19, “Great Babylon came into remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.” Namely, the time came when God determined to judge her. In 17:1, “There came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will show unto thee the judgement of the great whore, that sitteth upon many waters.” Then follows a description of the corrupt woman, “decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, and sitting upon a scarlet colored beast.” “And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” And the woman which thou sawest is that great city which reigneth over the kings of the earth.” Ver. 18. Here is the whole mystery of iniquity. The mother and daughters, Rome and her protestant offshoots.

In 18:2 she is declared “fallen, fallen.” Sectism never was of God, but now she has become doubly fallen, and a real habitation of devils. Her fall into utter corruption takes place when she is burned over with holiness fire. See Rev. 8:8, and compare Jer. 51:24-26. The great mountain which destroyeth the whole earth is Babylon and when on fire she is cast down. So it has come to pass as the real fire of holiness sweeps over the earth, the sincere and honest escape out, and Satan takes full possession of her. In Rev. 18:4 God calls his own out of her. His sheep hear his voice and obey. Accordingly in Ver. 23 it is declared that the light of a candle (a jusеified soul) shall shine no more at all in thee, and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee. Christ nor his church shall not be heard there. Her desolation is come, and God’s ministers are commanded to shoot at her round about, “rejoice over her,” etc.

And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaver, saying, Alleluia! Salvation, and glory, and honor, and power, unto the Lord our God: for true and righteous are his judgements; for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. — Rev. 19:1, 2.

Thus we see after God has called his people out of her, and they have exposed her by the arrows of divine truth, etc., then it is announced that God has judged her, then follow the shouts of triumph and praise to God from the remnant that have come out of her. 19:5, 6. And in verses 7, 8 the remnant is announced as the wife of the Lamb, “arrayed in fine linen clean and white, which is the righteousness of the saints.” But now comes the great and final battle. The white arrayed bride is placed on white horses and goes forth following the “Word of God,” their captain; who also is mounted on a white horse; and “out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations.” Read 19:11-15. White is the emblem of purity. A horse denotes strength and speed. Holiness is purity, strength and speed. So the the white horse of both Christ and his army is holiness.

Now read 19:17, 18 as follows: And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

Is there a spiritual man on earth that does not see this connected chain of events? Has not sectism become fallen and exceedingly corrupt? Has not God been calling his people out of her for the last twelve years? Is it not so that they come out through the fire and power of holiness, and do we not know that holiness is the white raiment of the saints? And is it not also true that Christ is martialing his holy ones in a vigorous campaign against all the corrupt isms of night? And now behold Christ is cutting off by the sword of his mouth all who willfully refuse to put on the white raiment of Bible holiness, and obey all the truth as it is in him. And these all become a sacrifice to the birds and the beasts, which represent evil delusive spirits of devils. Is it not a fact that a thousand delusions are introduced by innumerable spirits of devils in these last days, and that all who do not receive and love the truth of God that shines by the fire of holiness become victims to the evil spirits? As men slain on the field of battle draw to them the birds and beasts of prey, so hell scents all who are cut off by the sword of the Spirit, and her unclean birds (spirits) come to devour. “All the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven — ‘wicked spirits in the air’ — come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God.” Now let us turn to Ezekiel 39:17-20 and you read the very same great sacrifice made for “every feathered fowl, and for every beast of the field.” Here we read, “Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty and drink the blood of the princes,” of “horses, chariots, mighty men,’’ etc. In Rev. 19:18, — “Ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them.” No one can fail to see the identity of these two scenes. But now read the connection in the prophet Ezekiel. Read chapters 38 and 39 and you will find that it is to the great slaughter of the army of Gog and Magog that, these birds and beasts are invited to come and eat. Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, etc. 38:2. “Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog and say, Thus saith the Lord God: Behold I am against thee, O Gog,” etc. And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand. Thou shall fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field, to be devoured. — Ezek. 39:1, 3, 4. This is so plain that there can be no mistake. It is in the great battle of Gog and Magog on the one side, and God Almighty on the other, that Gog and Magog’s army are given to the birds and beasts. We have seen in Rev. 19 that this great sacrifice and supper is made to the birds and beasts during the vigorous campaign that follows after Christ calls his bride out of Babylon, which he is now doing, and all that know the present truth clearly see and understand. Now in Eze. 38:8 it is to come“in the latter years,” and in verse 16, “It shall be in the latter days.”

Having identified the “sacrifice” to the birds and beasts in Eze., with the great “supper” to the birds and beasts of Rev. 19:17, 18, and proved that it is to take place during the great battle of Gog and Magog, we now call your attention to Rev. 20:7-9. And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison. And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Here is recorded the same great war of Gog and Magog, and behold, it is after the thousand years have expired and during the small time that Satan is loosed out of his prison. Consider it my dear brethren who think that Satan’s binding is yet in the future. Ezekiel positively locates the feast to the birds in the great Gog and Magog conflict. And Rev. 19 locates it in the great battle that follows the calling of God’s people out of Babylon, when the sanctified remnant follow Christ upon white horses, and Rev. 20 locates the same after Satan is loosed. And does not every illuminated child of God know that God is calling his people out of Babylon, and that “many are being purified, made white and tried?” These are they who have on the white raiment which is the righteousness of the saints. Daniel, speaking of these “purified” ones says, “The people that do know their God shall be strong and shall do exploits.” That is just what you see in Rev. After they are sanctified and made white, they follow him that sits upon the white horse at the head of the grand white cavalcade and from his mouth goeth forth a sharp sword with which he smites the nations. In the name of Jesus we say there is no evasion of the conclusion that the binding of Satan is a thing of the past. The calling of God’s people out of Babylon is now in progress, and the sanctified host is already mounting their white steeds, and rushing to the battle wherever he leads. And wherever the evening light has come, they who have resisted the present truth have been cut off by the sharp sword, and have become a prey to devils. Many of them filled with every conceivable doctrine of devils, and a cage of every unclean hateful, picking—bird—spirit.

But read again Rev. 20:4-6. Who is it that reign a thousand years? Ans. “I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God,” “And they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.” So then, this only mention of a thousand years reign is ascribed to disembodied souls. “The souls of them that had been beheaded.” It is true we read in verse five, “This is the first resurrection,” and from these words men may have, in all sincerity, concluded that the reigning ones had been literally resurrected. But, as we shall see hereafter, this language, when properly understood, will harmonize all right with the other declaration that the reigning ones were disembodied souls. Again, we ask in all love and reason, if the above lesson were to be understood as denoting saints reigning a thousand years on earth, would there not be some plain New Testament scriptures corroborating the same? Would not other scriptures teach the same thing, besides this one passage in the deep symbolic and prophetic book of Revelations? Do not the gospels and epistles plainly teach all the doctrinal facts respecting the coming of Christ, the resurrection and final judgment? Would the alwise God give us such plain and thorough lessons on the events to transpire on that great day as found, in 1 Cor. 15, and many other places and yet never mention a thousand years reign of universal righteousness between the literal resurrection of the righteous and the wicked, except in the mystic scenes of the Apocalypse? In vain do we look for one plain New Testament statement of such a limited reign. Or one plain text placing a thousand years between the literal resurrection of the two classes of the human family. One text in all the Old or New Testament that asserts that this earth shall ever be inhabited by only righteous men and women. Again we know of no text that asserts that Christ will ever set up on earth any other kingdom than that which he has set up. Of course we admit that a higher plane of glory will be revealed in his subjects in the future state of reward. But that will be the same everlasting kingdom turned over to the Father after all enemies shall have been put down. “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death,” and he is destroyed in the general resurrection. “Then cometh the end,” the end of time. See 1 Cor. 15:23-26.

Let us look at some of the Old Testament scriptures that men imagine teach a universal reign of righteousness on earth. Isa. 65:20-25 is so used. We have heard men teach that all the righteous dead shall be raised and the living changed, and they shall reign immortal a thousand years on earth, and quote the above to prove it. But that is far from proving any such thing, for after all the child shall die, and sinners also make a part of the scene. Many literalize the bear, lion, wolf, lamb and bullock, and suppose that the wild beasts will all be harmless and tame in the millennial earth. But why the animals all converted, when sinners yet remain unconverted? But this docility of the animals is not descriptive of this world, but “They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain.” The same is sometimes rendered “the mountain of his holiness.” It means that men, who have ever, under the reign of sin, devoured each other through the base animal and selfish passions, become harmless, peaceful and loving when raised by the grace of God, up to the plane of divine holiness. Speaking of Herod, Christ said, “Go tell that fox,” and often in

The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall one far from another. In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the Trumpet resort ye thither unto us. Our God shall fight for us. Neh. 4:19, 20. We feel the need of some real spiritual brother or sister in this vicinity. Now dear brethren in the ministry, if you are called of the Lord to come to the extreme Northwest, don’t go to “Joppa” or arrange your course of travel so as to be at some particular camp meeting. But leave “the burnt over district,” pull out where you will have to trust the Lord for everything you need. The Lord may want you to work along the line in Montana or Idaho. If so, amen. This eastern country has a hard name, so if you feel too weak to start, “tarry in Jerusalem until you are ended with power from on high.”

GO TO THE FOUNTAIN HEAD.

_____

Dearly beloved saints, God bless you. Thus saith the word of the Lord, “If any man lack wisdom let him ask of me, who giveth liberally and upbraideth not.” Again, his name shall be called, “Wonderful, Counsellor,” etc. “In him are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” “In every thing, by prayer and thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Lean not on your own understanding, nor yet upon your brother’s, nor seek counsel from any human, on things which only God can safely lead you. One brother writes, asking us if we thought it advisable for him to quit the gospel field and labor this summer with his hands in order to get out of debt, or keep on working for the Master, and pay interest until an opportunity presents itself to sell certain property. Now for our life we could give the brother no answer without we were to go to God for counsel, and we are sure he can better direct every child of God in matters that pertain to them than he can any one else. He only who has called the brother to work for him can inform him whether it be his will for him to stop off traveling for a season and labor with his hands. He is a wonderful counsellor, and can tell you what to do as easy as he told Philip to join himself to the man in the chariot.

Another brother was trapped in a financial affair, which he was not able to carry out and evidently it was a hasty step not ordered of the Lord and now is being threatened with prosecution for non-performance of the contract, and asks us whether he had better employ an attorney and make a defence. We say it is impossible for us to give counsel. Ask of God what ye shall do. As your affairs all belong to him, it is his place to direct his steward. This however the word teaches, “Agree with thine adversary quickly while thou art in the way with him,” etc. Settle if possible, even if it cost as much again as you think the law will take. To all God’s saints we give this advice: get your orders from heaven; counsel with brethren when practical, but get your orders from God. Amen.

HOME AGAIN.

_____

Through the great goodness and kindness of our dear heavenly Father we arrived safely at home, Feb. 16. Never in all my past journeyings did my soul seem so thankful and joyful before God for the privilege of greeting all the dearly beloved ones at home once more. O bless the Lord, bless the name of the Lord! I knew not how to thank God enough, nor scarcely how to act for the great joy of our heart. O let all the dear saints help us bless the name of the Lord for his wonderful care over us during the travel of over ten thousand miles since our departure last July. Thanks be to his holy name, our flying abroad has not been in vain. All along the line of our tour God has been with us and saved souls at every stopping place, with, perhaps, two exceptions. Thank heaven also for the blessing of good health. And how wonderfully he strengthened us to preach lis everlasting gospel. Often twice a day, and sometimes on Sabbath three times, putting in as much as eight hours swift talk in one day, added to which was the earnest altar service, and the care for immortal souls. An intense line of work that mere formal preachers know nothing about, and yet in performing their cold 30 minute preaching farce, twice in a week, they become worn out and have to take an annual vacation and rest. We feel especially thankful to God for the grace of our Lord and Savior, that we find resting upon all the beloved family, especially to find our own dear boy happy in the Lord. O what a blessed and glorious household of faith and good works! Five years ago four persons did the work in the kitchen and office, now the working force is twenty-three, besides the two little boys who help the work on between school hours. The entire family enrolls twenty-seven names.

There has been great advancement in both the skill and facility in the glorious work. Great advantages have been gained over the past methods in the prosecution of the book and tract work. So that one person can turn off more work than two or three in the same time formerly. Some very excellent additions have been made to the book-printing furniture. So that we are now able to do first class work. And what do you think all this force is accomplishing with our steam presses, tract binder and paper cutter, and the latest improvements in the printing art? Since about Nov. 7, last fall, until Jan. 15 the press was kept running almost daily, except the Lord’s day, and it will soon be started on book work again and be kept in motion until the next June camp meeting. For some months past an average of over one thousand tracts have been sent out daily, and by far the most were sent out free, besides many thousand free papers every month. The mailing expenses reach as high as $70 per month. Praise God for this wide sowing of the seeds of eternal life, and thank the Lord, the reaping is going on. Thousands of souls are being reached by the pure light of heaven, and much thanksgiving is everywhere ascending to the God of truth and full salvation. O how our souls are repaid for all the sacrificing toils by the inflow of letters, that confess the saving fruits of the gospel light, which shines forth from this office. Just think of one thousand sermons, big and little, every day, going forth to help the souls of men to rise above the powers of sin and Satan. The book on DIVINE HEALING is being greatly blessed of God on its mission of mercy. Many have told us they regard it as the best book in the world besides the Bible. Six thousand have already been published, the most of which have gone forth on their mission. And eleven thousand more will soon be printed. We were very thankful to God in meeting our dear Bro. DeDerer here, whom God has surely raised up and brought here for the purpose of sending forth the pure gospel of Christ to the German people. He has already translated the book on DIVINE HEALING and about all the tracts. Also a few days before our arrival came our dear Bro. Wm. Ebel, whom we had the happy privilege of baptizing a few months ago on the Pacific coast. He, too, is a German brother, anointed of the Holy Spirit and chosen of God to set the German type. After spending four days setting English type, he begins to day at the German case, and in a few days, if God will, German tracts will begin to go forth in the name of Jesus, the Savior of the world, teaching the way of full salvation. Let all who wish to help your German friends and neighbors into the way of life, send in your orders. Ten cents per hundred will be sufficient to pay mailing expenses, but give as the Lord may stir your hearts. Thus far, only a tract outfit has been purchased and we are still praying earnestly to God to move consecrated hearts to help us get the newspaper outfit, and no doubt he will hasten it in its season. Amen!

We are glad dear Bro. Schell’s work will also soon be ready for the press. Let the dear saints of God not neglect to send in their subscription for the same, that he may be furnished the necessary means to begin publication. O how much precious truth there is yet to send forth! how many starving souls are praying for some messenger of mercy to show them the way that leads out of the maze of dead religion and sect confusion to the true Zion of God.

Thank God the light of heaven is shining and rapidly spreading. O who will help to carry forth the glorious truth, that all the world needs? O my dear beloved, should not every child of God be ready to make some sacrifice for the salvation of the lost? But I greatly fear there may be some, who read these lines, that do not even that which they could do without any sacrifice of life’s necessaries or comforts. If so, beloved, we admit that it is a matter alone between you and your God. But you know what he says. “He that soweth sparingly shall also reap sparingly.” “Give and it shall be given,” and the inference naturally follows, withhold and it shall be withheld from you. Therefore let Bible faith, holy wisdom, and heavenly economy, lead you to give to the cause of perishing souls. “A good man showeth favor and lendeth; hp will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he shall not be moved forever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth forever; his horn shall be exalted with honor.” Psa. 112:5-9.

Instead of finding two large buildings, the office and house, occupied with the Lord’s workmen, as when we left home, we found three large buildings alive with the praises of God on our return. O home, sweet home! Surely “He blesseth the habitation of the righteous.” Amen.

News from the Field.

__________

Grand Junction, Mich., Feb. 21, 1893.

We spent about two weeks with the church of the Firstborn near Nishnabotha, and in Milton, Mo. At the former place the saints have a good comfortable house of worship. Dear Bro. A. A. Kinzie has made his home among them and has been largely blessed of God as the instrument in the building of both the “true sanctuary which the Lord pitched,” — so far as God uses instrumentalities in its erection — and also of the earthly house.

He, with the saints, had been holding meetings some time before our arrival, and souls had been set free in Christ. Much good was also accomplished by the Lord during our visit. Many of the dear ones got a clearer experience. Some entered the grace of entire sanctification, and a few were born of God. At one service ten dear children of God were healed by the power of God, through faith, prayer, and the laying on of hands. They all seemed to receive a glorious witness by the power of the Spirit, and were enabled to praise him aloud. Among the number was one dear old sister that had, during the meeting, renounced the anti-ordinance heresy, and consecrated all to God. She was wonderfully filled and blessed of God. At another time four more were healed of the Lord. We spent a few days in the village of Milton, preaching in the M. E. house. A few consecrations. Good was being accomplished at every meeting at Nishnabotna, and the dear ones desired us to tarry longer, but the good Spirit of our God moved us on homeward. Part of the time it was 12 degrees below zero while we were there, and such severe weather set hard on our body, softly tempered by the mildness of the coast climate.

Bro. J. W. Neff was ordained by the laying on of hands as an elder in the church of God. In the absence Bro. Kinzie, who will not be apt to remain a “home guard” much in the future, Bro Neff will have the oversight of both the flock of God at Nishnabotna and Milton. The Lord has called him to the good work, and let all pray God to endue him with much wisdom and grace.

It was our happy privilege on the 8th of February to solemnize the marriage of our much beloved Bro. Amos A. Kinzie and Sister Janet K. Sillers, at the home of the bride’s mother.

To Bro. Amos A. and Sister Janet K. Kinzie.

God Bless You,

To-day with your pure hearts united,
In the love that heaven bestows,
In robes that no fuller hath whitened.
But the blood of salvation that flows:
You stand at the altar most holy,
And together your fortunes untwine,
While Jesus is present, and truly
Doth replenish the wedding with wine.

There are guests that elude our poor vision,
There’s a fragrance pervading the room:
It must be that angels are strewing
Of the flowers in Eden that bloom.
O may their sweet presence o’ershadow
All the path that united you tread,
And may the sweet blessings of heaven
Ever drop from their wings on your head

We wish you great joy, dear beloved,
And the treasures that ever reward.
A life that is wholly devoted
To the glory of Jesus our Lord.
Be strong, and so forth to the gleaning,
Till the sun of the evening goes down,
Then many bright stars of your toiling,
Shall embellish your heavenly crown.

Sister Kinzie, as well as dear Bro. Amos, is wholly devoted to God, separated and ordained unto the holy calling of publishing the gospel of re-

deeming love, and they are ready to go forth whithersoever the Master leads. They are now laboring at Auburn, Neb. After through there they expect to go to Kingston, Mo., and we trust we shall see their faces at the June camp meeting here. Pray God that they may be mightily used of him.

Our last meeting at Nishnabotna was a very sacred and heavenly communion service. Between forty and fifty saints were present to participate, and truly the glory of the Lord was in the midst. O what an overwhelming consciousness of the divine presence and glory filled the house, and thrilled our soul! O blessed be the King Eternal that feasts his obedient children! Amen!

Reaching home we found Sisters Shoffner and Fink and many dear saints assembling every night in a building on the camp ground, and the mighty God was at work, and souls were being saved. Several have yielded their hearts to God since our return, and still the glorious work goes on.

Much snow has covered this country all the winter, the weather is yet severe and the snow plenty. And there is great joy in all our hearts for the blood that makes whiter than snow. Amen.

Dear Saints: I do feel it would be to the glory of God to write what the Lord has done here in this place. Brother John Obry and myself began meeting here Jan. 1, 1893. The Lord did bless our labor and many gave voice and hands for prayer. Two sanctified and two received pardon. O praise the Lord for sending Bro. Obry here! He will return home to Findlay, Ohio in a short time. I think that if some of God’s ministers could come here and water, God would give a wonderful increase. There are many sinners that believe this the only way and some few of the members in the sect believe that we must and can live without sin in this life. O praise the Lord for such a wonderful salvation that saves us from all sin! If the Lord wills I will stay here this summer, and if any of God’s ministers are led to come here they will find a home here among the saints as far as they are able. Any one led to come, address

Dear Trumpet Readers: May God bless you all for Jesus’ sake. We came to Holt, Mich., Jan. 20th where Bro. and Sister Walters had already started meeting in the Evangelical house. We were there until Feb. 8. Had a glorious meeting. This evening light had never been preached at that place before. About fourteen declared their freedom from Babylon. Some of them consecrated and got a good experience. Many others acknowledged the truth but were too much under the influence of Babylon to get clear yet. But we look for more fruits in the future. May God keep the little church free, and may every one go on to perfection is our prayer. Holt is about 7 or 8 miles south of Lansing, on the Michigan Central R. R. Any of the true ministers of the gospel passing that way will find a welcome. Let none except those sent of God presume to go there, for they will be detected. We go to Olivet. Bro. and Sister Walter go home and then then north, perhaps to Dushville, Isabella Co.

We remain yours in Jesus,

Dear Children of God: I greet you again in the name of Jesus through the Gospel Trumpet. I am happy to report victory over all the powers of darkness and Babylon confusion. Praise God! His word says, Ye are complete in him. Col. 2:10. The meeting near Gaskill, Kan. was a success. There were seventeen consecrations in all, and nine went on unto perfection, and were sanctified wholly by a second work of grace. It was wonderful to hear the shouts of the redeemed ascending to God in praise for perfect freedom. On Saturday, Feb. 11, ten dear brethren and sisters was buried with Christ by baptism and rose to walk in newness of life. In the evening we all met at Bro. Moorehead’s and had a very precious waiting on the Lord, in observing the ordinances of God’s house. Some of the saints from Thompson were present to enjoy the feast. Bro. and Sister Hewitt were with us in the meeting. Bro. T. A. Philips was with us the most of the time. Praise God for the little church he has established in that place. From there I came in company with Bro. and Sister Hewitt and Bro. T. A. Philips to this place. Your brother saved,

Dear Saints and Trumpet Readers: We do ask the richest of heaven’s blessings on your souls. We are rejoicing to-day for the fullness we find in Christ. Oh hallelujah! We are in the held all the time; a few souls are being saved. We got home about New Years; had a meeting at Six Points a few days. One brother I consecrated his all to go and work in the field, then we came to Ashley, Ind., met with a band of workers that was holding meeting. Not much done; so much prejudice and crookedness. From there we went to Angola, had a few meetings; weather so bad the people would not come to meeting. We went to Auburn to Bro. Wm. Lahnum’s. There we met Bro. John Daugherty. From there we in company went to Cedar Creek; had four meetings. Two consecrated and got the desire of their hearts. Much sickness in the neighborhood. We moved over to Bro. Friedt’s and commenced meeting in a Union meeting house on last Wednesday night. We are having good meetings. The Lord is helping us to preach his word. The people receive the word and say it is the truth. Dear ones, pray for us that we may have much wisdom and be kept low down at Jesus’ feet. You all have our prayers. We expect to go east when we get through here.

From one that is all on the gospel altar,

Dear Brethren and Sisters in Christ: I can say after a long summer of scourging from the Lord on the account of not going out to work for the Lord as I ought to have done, but instead of doing so I rented a farm and had to stay and work it, — I can say that I have learned a lesson which I think I will never forget. I can say to all those whom God has called to go and work in the vineyard, Walk in the calling wherewith he has called you, and be not entangled with the affairs of life, but obey God in all things. As I expect that the most of my time from this on will be spent for the salvation of the lost, I ask you all to pray for me that God may use me to his glory. Amen. I have been away holding a meeting in Forest Co., Pa., about five miles from Tionesta, in a new place where the whole word had not been preached. The meeting lasted three weeks-with good results. We had good order and the people paid good attention to the word. The congregation was not very large for the people are not very plenty in that place. We can say that opposition against the right way was not strong for the people seemed to be hungry for the truth and received it. We leave a little church there of twelve in number and some who say they are going to walk in the light, for which we give God all the glory. Amen.

Somerville, Ala., Feb. 8, 1893.

Dear Saints: May love and peace abound to all through Christ Jesus. Amen. We are happy to report perfect victory over all the works of the enemy, through him who loved us and gave himself for us. Praise his dear name forevermore! We haven’t reported through the columns of the Trumpet for some time. But have been in active labor day and night preaching the gospel, pointing dear precious souls to the Lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the world. Souls are being saved from all sin and delivered out of sectarian bondage. To God be all glory and praise. We have been to several places since last we wrote, but for nearly a month have been in this neighborhood called Six Mile, preaching a part of the time for the colored people and some for the white people. Among the colored ones were about twelve converted, most all members of the Baptist sect. Nearly the entire company were willing to give up the whole business and come out of Babylon (sectism) not taking a stone for a corner, nor a stone for a foundation. Eight were buried with Christ in baptism. Others desired to be but could not be ready. May the Lord bless and keep them faithful to the end. Of the white people there have been between fifteen and twenty. Some were only converted, but a few were also sanctified. Praise the Lord! Ten were baptized and others desire to be soon. The sect (Babylon) preachers are very restless, doing all they can, fighting against the truth without success. Some of them asking when the saints will leave this part of the country, but sad indeed to learn that the number is increasing daily. But they very seldom come to see what is being done. We will close meeting at this place tonight and return again to the colored people to morrow for only a few days. Some are anxious to be saved since we left them. After that time we go a few miles east into the mountains the Lord willing. Will be in this state till March, then we go to Tullahoma, Tenn. Our address will be Somerville, Ala. while in this state. Pray for us and the work here.

Yours and Christ’s sanctified wholly and kept,

Thos. Carter & J. F. Lundy.

To the Saints of the Most High God: May you all prosper and rejoice always in this boundless glory of free salvation. Again we take pleasure in reporting that we are victorious in this battle. Thank God, there can be no failure when Jesus leads the van. The work moves on. It is beginning to spread more thoroughly over the city. The saints are very zealous for the cause and we are glad and thankful that the zeal is according to knowledge generally. The Lord is raising up a number who are preparing for the tent work the coming summer. Pray that none may go who are not sent, and yet that all may go who are actually commissioned by the Holy Spirit. There will doubtless be two or three tents started out as soon as the rainy season is over. The work is not completed yet here, as there are many localities in this city yet that have not had this evening light. The saints are taking lessons in vocal music and are doing well. The meetings in the hall are prospering. Souls being saved and believers established. The church is becoming established more and more in the present truth. God’s people still continue to obey the voice from heaven, “Come out of her.” A few have recently taken this heavenly way. Praise the Lord! This causes Babylon to rage, but Jerusalem rejoices and shakes herself from the dust of human tradition. O glory to God! This glorious freedom becomes more and more precious to our souls as we see the awful bondage in the land. Yet our hearts mourn for those who will not obey God and become delivered.

Dear saints, pray for us. We feel our insufficiency as never before. I have had an attack of sore throat and fever, but through the prayer of faith have been raised up and made every whit whole. Oh what a glorious physician we have in Jesus!

Your brother and sister separated unto the gospel,

To the Saints of God: I feel led by a divine power, to write this letter to the Trumpet readers. I attended a meeting a short time ago, at Mt. Eden near where I am teaching, conducted by Bro’s Speck. Orr, and Fleenors, and since hearing the word of God preached entirely different from what I had ever heard before, I immediately made up my mind that there is a reality in what they preached and professed. I have read the Gospel Trumpet, and can say, I like to read the testimonies of the children of God, and do sincerely request the prayers of those that are consecrated to the Lord. I do pray the Lord will send some good minister to preach his word again in this neighborhood in the near future, as there are many souls that might be saved. I beg the prayers of all the Trumpet readers.

Dear Trumpet Readers: I praise the Lord this evening for salvation in my soul. I know that I am his redeemed child, walking on this “narrow way” and “highway of holiness.” I love the way. Hallelujah! Christ says, “I am the way,” and he has gone before, and a true follower of Christ can walk in his footsteps, and this evening I am fully determined and willing to “do this one thing, forgeting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,” and press toward the mark as Paul did. I have no desire to win or gain any thing of this world but my desire is to do my blessed Master’s will, and honor my Lord, in doing all I can to save precious souls, by getting means to send forth the glorious gospel of Christ. He has healed me several times and I know he is my dearest and best friend. Pray for me. Your unworthy brother saved and sanctified,

Dear Trumpet Readers:

I feel led of God this morning to write my testimony. Just four years ago the Lord found me a sinner, living on a dead profession, and drunk on the wine of old mother Rome without a ray of spirituality in my soul. Was very much afflicted in body for twelve years with an abscess, and finally with Rheumatism. I was at times unable to walk across the house. I was greatly discouraged with my life; many times was in such agony and distress both soul and body that it seemed to me death would be relief. Oh dear readers, for three years of my life after hearing holiness preached it seemed as though I was on the verge of hell, knowing what I would have to give up and sacrifice to get Bible salvation. Just where hundreds of souls to-day are standing, not realizing their condition. But I can praise God from my heart that he ever sent Bro. Kilpatrick and Co. to our neighborhood. The brother came to our house to talk with me about my soul, when God showed me I must decide at once; he would not strive with me any longer. I then looked back over my past life for a few minutes and seeing the mercies of God towards me in sparing my life, when many times I was brought down to death’s door and he raised me up again, I then yielded and said, Thy will be done. I was getting sober so I could see what God had in store for me. Two days after that the Lord spoke peace to my soul pardoning me of all my sin; I died out to every thing that was dear to me, the idols I was worshiping, and he accepted me and made me his child. Praise the dear Lord! Then after reading Rom. 12:1, 2 I presented my body again for a pure heart and got rid of the carnal nature. And praise God, he accepted the sacrifice and oh the peace and joy in my soul, no tongue can express. The dear ones told me that God could heal my body, but not knowing much about the word of God, never having read it very much, could not believe it was his will to do it. Within a year from that time the Lord showing me what he wanted me to do; I felt the time had come he would heal me. And glory to his name, he instantly healed me and made me whole again both soul and body, for which I give him all the glory. Oh that men and women knew the power of God and what he would do for them if they only would get saved and in a state of grace where they could claim his promises. I am asking God to give me language to tell to the lost human race how wonderfully he does save and redeem his children, and give them light to understand his word! Also help me live a life before my friends that they may be brought out of all the darkness of sectism, and deceitfulness of pride and pleasures of the world. Matt. 6:24. No man can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. I do know I am dead to the pleasures of the world and alive in Christ Jesus, doing his will in all things as far as he gives me light. We left home last August for this eastern town and truly God has been with us, kept us in good health, also provided us with all things both spiritual and temporal. Find the grace of God sufficient in times of all trials and temptation. We traveled hundreds of miles through the eastern states and are now at Cape Cod, Mass., safe and with victory in our souls. Was kept in perfect health so that I have not missed one meeting since I left home. Praise God for his goodness to his children! When we are truly consecrated to God the promises are for us. The word says he will never leave nor forsake if we abide in him. And it says in Matt. 19:29. And every one that forsaken houses, or brethren or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for my name’s sake shall recive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. When I left all for Christ I found many mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters where ever I go, with persecution for which I praise the Lord; for the word says, Praise him for all things, and I do thank God that I am where I can praise him for all things, through evil report as well as good. Oh! I never think of going back into the world when I see so many people starving for the true gospel preached in its purity, and have the pleasure of seeing souls saved and brought into the fold; but every day trying to do more and more to get souls out of darkness and deception into this blessed evening light before the Lord comes to call them into judgement. Oh that more men and women were willing to sacrifice the comforts of this life and their own lives for the salvation of souls! For truly the harvest on this coast is ripe and laborers are few. I have resolved to wear out my life, regardless of pleasures or comforts, for lost humanity. Truly the hand of God was in our coming to his place. The word was so much needed. God does wonderfully fill our souls while sending forth the truth to the dear ones.

I thank God I am not living on an old dead profession, or when I was first converted, but am saved and all under the blood, sanctified wholly, victory over all the power of the enemy. Praise the Lord! And I give him all the glory. Pray for me and the work on this coast.

Your sister saved and in the gospel work,

Hattie Rupert.

_____

TALKING.

_____

Talking is an indulgence practiced so immoderately that it is a great curse in the world. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. Jas. 3:5, 6.

It seems many people think they must be saying something or they are not sociable. They will run on with any amount of foolishness and vulgarity, at the same time profess to be children of God, when Paul says, But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. Eph. 5:3: 4.

Paul says, let foolish talking and jesting not be once named among you as becometh saints. He prohibits joking and jesting.

Peter says, Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness. 2 Pet. 3:11. Christ says, But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. Matt. 12:36. How careful then ought we to be, with what religious fear! Oh that people could only see the awfulness of such an ungodly practice of ungodly, idle talk, and avoid it, for they shall be judged by their words! For by thy words thou shalt be justified and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. 37. But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation. 1 Pet. 1:15. I saw a man who claimed to be sanctified, take his little boy on his lap and say, “Johnnie, I don’t like you,” when he loved him so much he could have died for him if necessary. Now that was a lie. Paul says, Lie not one to another, seeing ye have put off the old man with his deeds. Col. 3:9. O shame on such religion that will not stop all such ungodliness as that! It does not amount to much good. It is no wonder they do not keep it very long, for it certainly is a burden. Such generally have to go to the altar every big meeting. Sometimes we see a number of people get together and all day it is a regular jargon of nonsense. How my soul has often mourned to see those claiming to be saints engaging in such nonsensical hilarity of the world. Temperance includes the moderate use of the tongue, because it is one of the necessaries of life, but ordained of God to be used moderately. Do all ye do to the glory of God. For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Phil. 3:20. We ought to talk such things that are necessary to glorify God. I do know that so much idle talk will bring leanness to the soul. Sometimes when people get to feeling pretty good and merry they go to foolish talking. James says, Is any among you merry, let him sing psalms. Jas. 5:13. Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christy that whether I come and see you or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel. Phil. 1:27. The conversation then that becometh the gospel is holy conversation. 1 Pet. 1:15.

Dearly beloved saints of God, and those professing to be, this means you; and don’t say that strikes Bro. or Sister so and so, but like the disciples at the supper, let us, each one, say, Is it I? for God knows the heart and the very thoughts of the wise. 1 Cor. 3:20. In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. Prov. 10:19. There is no doubt when one is letting their tongue run so constantly they will commit sin, as the wise man saith, In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride, but the lips of the wise shall preserve them. Prov. 14:3. The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright; but the mouth of fools poureth forth foolishness. Prov. 15:2. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness therein is a breach of the Spirit. Wholesome, is to tend to good health and morals; so a wholesome tongue is one that tends to conduce good health and morals; but perverseness is a breach of the Spirit. Breach, is the act of breaking. Consequently a tongue that perverts is a breaking of the Spirit. Hence like the wise man said, “In a multitude of words there wanteth not sin.” The lips of the wise disperse knowledge, but the heart of the foolish doeth not so. 7. The heart of the wise teacheth (margin, maketh wise) his mouth and addeth earning to his lips. Prov. 16:23. Even a fool when he holdeth his peace is counted wise; and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. Prov. 17:28. If any man offend not in word the same is a perfect man and is able to also bridle the whole body, Jas. 3:2.

Spiritual conditions are inseparably with our physical life. The flow of divine life currents may be interrupted by a very little clot of blood; the vital current may leak out through a very trifling wound. If you want to keep the health of Christ, keep from all spiritual sores, from all wounds and irritation. One hour of fretting will wear out more vitality than a week of work, and one minute of malignity, or wrangling, jealousy, or envy will hurt more, sometimes than a drink of poison. Sweetness of spirit and joyousness of heart are essential to full health. Quietness of spirit, gentleness, tranquility and the peace of God that passeth understanding, are worth all the other dainties and luxuries and a hundred fold more. We don’t wonder that some people have poor health when we hear them talk for half an hour; they have enough dislikes, prejudices, doubts and fears to exhaust the strongest constitution. The divine life has failed to touch such a person, because they have failed to place themselves in a condition to receive it. God might pour in a whole well of living water and it would leak out before night at a hundred pores and wounds. Dearly beloved, if you would keep the divine life and strength of God, keep out the naughty things that kill it. Keep it and use it for God and for his work, and you will find enough and to spare for all real claims in the busiest toils and adversities of this short life.

Continued from first page.

the Bible, evil men are compared to ravenous beasts, and God’s people to sheep, etc.

We have the same lesson in Isa. 11:6-11. Especially these words have been used: “For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the seas.” But it is most generally worded more fully in accordance with their idea attached to it, as follows: “Righteousness shall cover the earth as the waters cover the sea, “and many think it so reads in the Bible. The forepart of the verse shows that a time of God’s holy mountain is referred to. In verse 10, it shows that the salvation of the Gentiles is alluded to. A root of Jesse shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek; and his rest shall be glorious.” And in verse 11, the Lord is seen gathering the remnant of his people. That is now in progress and it is the time when the bride is being clothed in white linen and the end is nigh. But what did Christ say would be accomplished before the end of time? Ans. “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world, for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” — Matt. 24:14. The time was when only the Jewish nation knew of the true God, but now all nations of the earth are rapidly being informed of the Almighty Creator and Redeemer. But this does not bring a universal reign of righteousness. Were this a spiritual and experimental knowledge of God, we confess such would be the case, but the same lesson still shows that sinners inhabit the earth coincident with this knowledge of the Lord. See especially the 4th verse, “He shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth and with the breath of his lips, he shall slay the wicked.” “The rod of his mouth” and “breath of his lips,” refer to the two-edged sword of his Word. This smiting the hearts and conscience of the wicked is going on, while at the same time “they do not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain,” that is, among the sanctified. I We have a similar, but yet stronger passage in Hab. 2:14. “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” Here is an ascent from the knowledge of the Lord,” to the “knowledge of the glory of the Lord.” The first relates to the general spread of the gospel of God, the latter to the spread of the light of the holiness of God, over all the earth, and both are predicted just before the second coming of Christ. The latter is the “consumption decreed in the midst of all the land.” Holiness is the “everlasting gospel,” heralded by the flying angels, “the great sound of a trumpet,” by which they gather together God’s elect from one end under heaven to another. Hence holiness must be preached everywhere. “Many shall run to and fro,” and as a result, many shall be purified, made white and tried.” But will all the inhabitants of the earth be righteous when the “knowledge of the glory of the Lord covers the earth?” By no means. The very next verse rebukes the liquor venders, and all that legalize the accursed traffic, which is spreading wretchedness, misery and death over all the earth to day, coincident with the spread of holiness. “Woe unto him that giveth his neighbor drink, that putteth the bottle to him, and maketh him drunken.” Other verses in this chapter also show just what Daniel predicts, that when the knowledge of the glory of God covers the earth as the waters covers the sea, and while “the wise shall understand,” and shall shine as the brightness of the firmament, and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever, “The wicked shall still do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand.”

A SOUL REDEEMED.

Dear Saints of the Living God: Jesus says, that there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. Since Bro. Warner left, another dear soul has returned to the fold. Bro. Shaffert was a Baptist until becoming disgusted with the corruption in his sect, — hypocrisy, hatred and backbitings among the members — he turned away from all denominational religion, and knowing of no other went back into sin, and for nineteen long years, lived on husks in a far away land (the choicest dish to be found in Satan’s domain). Finally, after having been tossed to and fro. beaten and bruised like a mastless hull on the angry waves, and battered out of all semblance of his former self by devils within and without, the Lord rebuked the unclean spirits, and he is now returned home again, filled with the peace of God. His wife, Sister Shaffet, clung to the Savior, and has been kept free in her soul during nineteen years of awful persecution at home, and never ceased to pray and believe that her truant husband would sometime be restored to’ God. She saw the awful darkness and gloom surrounding the little flock of which she had been a member, and besought them with tears, but all in vain. “And she wandered from sea to sea and from the north even to the east and ran to and fro to seek the word of the Lord and found it not,” until one evening, the Lord led her to the saints’ I meeting, where she found, at last, that sweet fellowship, which alone is found among the children of God. To-day she is praising God because her prayers were answered. Her husband is saved, and they are walking hand in hand along the narrow way. Amen.

CONSECRATION.

_____

The fore part of the fifth chapter of Acts is presented to our mind for explanation. “A certain man named Ananias with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, and kept back part of the price. His wife also being privy to it and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostle’s feet.”

There are many to. day who are trying the same kind of selling out; they go through a form of a consecration and make believe that they have sold out, but we do not see them with the glory. The fact is, they have kept back a part of the price. These things are written for our example. Beware how you lie to the Holy Ghost. And remember that God is restoring his judges as at the first and thy counsellors as at the beginning. — Isa. 1:26. Through the dark ages of sectism the princes loved gifts and followed after rewards (Isa. 1:23), they hired out for salary. “They teach for reward, they divine for money.” — Read the third chapter of Micah. Consequently they work to please the people and have displeased God. But glory to God, the word teaches that when Zion returns his watchmen shall see eye to eye. — Isa 52:8. I praise God that Zion has returned to its morning light and purity to all who come out of Babylon and accept full salvation, and God is restoring his judges as at the first and his counsellors as at the beginning, for “Zion shall be redeemed with judgment and her converts with rightousness.”

We read in the Acts 4:32, and the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that aught of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

As we do not see this as a special command of God for men to literally sell out and put their means in a general fund, yet these disciples did so and God blessed them. Those who lived so close to God that the Holy Spirit could talk to them, were eventually made known that their property would do them no future good because of the destruction of Jerusalem that was at hand, the great city of the Jews.

Jesus had prophesied of the destruction that it should be trodden down of the Gentiles until the time of the Gentiles be fulfilled. — Luke 21:24.

We see this prophecy being fulfilled, Zion the church has been trampled under feet as well as literal Jerusalem, and now we see literal Jerusalem being built up, and we see Zion the church come back with all its glory. The Gentiles are rejecting the word of God and substitute their own opinions instead. Surely we see the end drawing nigh. The great crash coming on the Gentile nation. Got is calling out his people in the one faith and into a consecration of their lives and time and means to sprout forth the blessed evening light unto all nations.

Dear Trumpet Readers: May the grace of God be with you all and bless you forever and ever. I feel led to write my experience this evening. I was baptized in the Dunkard sect when twenty-two years old and was in that sect a number of years. They died out so there was no congregation of them and I could not go off to meeting. I was a few years without any. but I still felt one to Christ, did much secret praying till I went into the M. E. sect. I was in there three years, and all this time I was not satisfied; I knew there was something more for me to learn. But a year ago Brother Dillon and Co. came here. They preached the truth. And bless God for sending them here, and praise Him for showing me the way and leading me out into this blessed evening light. O praise his holy name! I am saved by the power of the blood divine. Pray for me that I may ever be faithful in doing his holy will.

Dear Saints: I am praising God this morning for full salvation that saves me and keeps me from all sin. I can trust my Savior in all things. Oh it is glorious to have such a Savior, for if you put your trust in him he will keep you out of Babylon. I expect to keep sanctified the rest o fmy days on earth which are not many. I pray for all the saints and ask them all to pray for me that I may hold faithful to the solid rock Christ Jesus.

Dear Saints and Trumpet Readers: Our testimony is we are saved and sanctified wholly. Praise the Lord who gives us victory over all powers of darkness! Although the trials of the righteous are many, the Lord delivers us out of them all. Can not some of God’s fire-brands come here into this wicked city and preach the everlasting gospel. I would just say, that unless some one comes that has: the discerning of spirits and is ready to lay down his life for Jesus, he has no business here. Shoddy holiness and anti-ordinance holiness has been preached here until the people get mad at the word holiness. Yet God is raising up a few that are willing to stand up for the truth. They will get a place to hold meeting. If any one feels led to come here please let me know. There is a good opening in the country for meetings.

Your sister.

Dear Saints: I feel led to write my testimony to the Trumpet once more. To day finds me saved and trusting God. Praise his dear name! I have seen wonderfully tried of late, but I will trust and not be afraid. We read in James 1:12. Blessed is the man that endureth temptations, for when he is tried he shall receive a crown of life which the Lord has promised to them that love him. Oh, it fills my soul with joy to search the scripture when I am cast down. I find I am not forsaken, knowing this that the trying of my faith is more precious than gold. It has been some time since I have been permitted to meet in a meeting with the people of God. But it just fills my soul with joy to tell what a dear Savior I have found. We read in 2 Peter 2:9, The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him, for whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. Heb. 12:5, 6. Now no chastening for the present s seemeth joyous but grievous; nevertheless afterwards it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised therein. Ver. 11. Oh I do praise God for the blessed scriptures he has left on record for us, that we can serve him without fear in holiness all the days of our life. And that he has permitted me to see this blessed evening light, and to enjoy salvation in its fullness. I was brought up by Christian parents, but Satan drew me away from the Lord, and led me into darkness, and misery, for I knew if God should call me from this earth, I should be lost, and lost forever. I went on in sin for about two years, and many were the prayers of my dear parents for my soul. And praise God, to-day I can realize the prayers of the righteous availeth much. For I had to yield to the call of the Spirit.

Oh, the joy no tongue can tell it!
‘Tis like many flowing streams
Now I stand upon the summit,
Where the golden sunlight gleams.

Well praise God! Pray for me that I may stand for God.

I am your saved and sanctified sister,

Libbie Zimmerman.
