The Papacy

—:o:—

St John saw a beast rising out of the sea;
It had seven heads and ten horns, says he.
’Twas like a leopard, his feet like a bear,
He spoke as the dragon who gave him his power.
He hath but twelve hundred, and six decate days
To o’ercome the saints and lead them astray.
During this long period, saith John in the Word,
He opened his mouth to blaspheme our God.
When the hands of this beast God almighty did burst,
John said: There rose another like unto the first,
His kingdom three days and a half was to last,
And then, saith the Word, shall be past.
The heads are seven hills, the foundations of Rome,
The horns were ten longs who in her found a throne
The twelve hundred and six decate days of the
To twelve hundred and six decate years is increased.
The first beast arose in two hundred and seventy
And finished its reign in fifteen hundred thirty;
When the second great beast rose up out of the earth,
Who exercised all of the power of the first.
The second beast reigned for three days and a half
Which prophetically means three centuries and a half.
This period began in fifteen hundred thirty
And ended forever in eighteen hundred eighty.
The evening has come the time’s no more dark,
Baal’s priests are all growling, but unable to bark.
King babel is trembling for fear of his loss,
The Holy Ghost fire now burns up the dross.
The prophet Zechariah foretold of these days
When the mouths of God’s saints should send forth His praise,
When he spake of the time not day, nor not night,
Said also at evening the light shall shine bright.

THE SECOND WORK OF GRACE.

—:o:—

THE Word of God emphatically declares that we must be adopted into the family of God before we can obtain full and complete salvation.

The first work of grace wrought in the heart, is justification; and the second is entire sanctification. Our salvation, or sanctification, commences in pardon, but it is consummated in the second grace.

Some would ask the question, What is the second grace? We will let the Word of God answer. In the first chapter of the Gospel by St John, we read as follows: (from the original Greek) “For out of his fulness we all received, even grace upon grace.” Grace is from the Greek word “karm.” This is undeniable because it is the Word of God, “which liveth and abideth for ever.” Hence “we are saved by the washing of regeneration, and the renewing of the Holy Ghost.” The Holy Spirit is the sanctifier.

That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the Gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. — Rom. 15:16.

The word ghost, is not in the Greek; it is always Holy Spirit. God saves us by yielding to His will and Word in all things. When we are justified, we cease to be a rebel against the kingdom of God.

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. — Rom. 5:1, 2.

We “ground the weapons of our warfare” and humbly bow to His gracious will, and let Him sway His scepter of love and righteousness over us; we then have peace with God; and the second grace destroys inbred sin, and being sanctified wholly we obtain the peace of God. Being born into God’s family we become heirs of full salvation. A child must be an heir before he can be a possessor. So God wills us the whole land of Canaan after we are adopted into His family.

A man would not be foolish enough to think of willing property to his son, when he has no son, and we are not a son of God until we are born into His family; so we are entitled to nothing but adoption. After our adoption to His family we are heirs to something more, namely full salvation. God help all cavilers about the second work of grace to remain silent until they get the first work, then God will teach them concerning, this matter. Because the “natural man, (Emphatic says) the animal man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, neither can he know them; because they are spiritually discerned.” “If any man speak let him speak as the oracles of God .” That implies if he cannot speak as the oracle of God, let him remain silent concerning these things whereof he knows nothing.

We will give you Peter and John’s testimony. Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the Word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (for as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) — Acts 8:14-16.

The reception of God’s Word will produce salvation. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. — James 1:21. For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. — Rom. 1:16.

I am confident that God understood what plan to devise in order to rescue perishing souls from the contaminating power of the devil, without finite man dictating in the least. Keep your hands off God’s work.

Thanks be to God! He has succeeded through Christ to save us. Praise the dear Redeemer! “we have obtained an abundance of grace, and the gift of righteousness, which enables us to reign in this life by one Christ Jesus.” All who have this blessed experience know that it corresponds with the Word of God. The Savior says to His disciples, “If ye continue in my word ye shall be my disciples indeed and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” I am saved and have the blessed experience of pardon and entire sanctification; devoted to the promotion of God’s cause, and an ambassador for Christ.

GO ON TO PERFECTION.

—:o:—

DEAR saints of the Most High God: — To those of the elect, sanctified, preserved in Christ Jesus and called. May grace, mercy and faith be multiplied unto you abundantly; and fill you with joy unspeakable and full of glory, in establishing your souls unblamable in holiness, ready to be revealed in the last time.

Christ gave Himself for the Church that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of the water by the word, that He might present to Himself a glorious Church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. — Eph. 5:26, 27.

I do praise God that through His love and mercy, manifest in His long suffering to me, in calling me from natures darkness into His marvelous light, and restoring my soul to “the glory of His image” in believing in Him.

Glory to Jesus my Lord and Savior, who through the precious promises hath made me partaker of His divine nature, — 2 Pet. 1:4. For I have appropriated Christ Jesus as my sanctification; for He is made unto me wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. — 1 Cor. 1:30. I glory in the Lord Who hath redeemed me, and written my name in His righteous book. For the Lord is my righteousness. But we have “come unto Mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and Church of the Firstborn”. — Heb. 12:22, 23. Hallelujah to our King, for He cometh in His glory. I wonder I tarried so long in the wilderness, on the border of the promised land, when but a step would take us into the land of corn and wine, I wonder also that so many are still standing in the same place when they hear the command to inarch into it, and possess if, and he freed from the taunts and harrassing trials and besetments of the wilderness life among the Moabites. I find such a disposition among those who profess to be christians to reject this glorious work of grace in every conceivable way. In this age of formalism, that is so wonderfully deceiving and deluding the people, there one of two to wit: Justification is a very poor attainment or those formalists have not obtained it; I am sure but very few have. From my observation and understanding of the word of God, and the doctrine, that a person freely justified has a longing, or hankering after the deep things of God, and when they hear the voice they will follow. “My sheep hear my voice and follow me”.

Notwithstanding the teaching of the abominable sects. More closely understanding the Word of God by the light of the Holy Ghost; I see justification is a very unsafe place to remain without sanctification. — Rom. 5:1, 2. Not every one that saith unto me Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father in heaven — Matt. 7:21.

This is the will of God even your sanctification — 1 Thes. 4:3. Again many shall say unto me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name? and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me ye that work iniquity — Matt. 7:22. Now those that are not sanctified have not done the will of God the Father; consequently they cannot enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. “Follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.”

We can go out into the world, and could see many converted, but afterwards could not lead them, or but a few, to the second work where they could stand; so the natural result, they go back to their wallowing in the mire. We have met with so many such cases, that we believe were almost useless to spend time with to get them converted, if we did not lead them into the grace of sanctification. Jesus says “they cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” Yet professed children of God refuse this grace. Now this proves that the blindness is resting upon the people very conclusively; and that the Scriptures are being rapidly fulfilled. — Rom. 11. And that our energies and efforts should not slacken, and should teach nothing but full salvation; and salvation means nothing less. For God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth. — 2 Thes. 2:13.

The preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but to us which are saved it is the power of God — 1 Cor. 1:18.

Paul had no doubt of his salvation, that the offering up of the gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. — Rom. 15:16. Now the gentiles are accepted by being sanctified by the Holy Ghost, or receiving an inheritance among them which are sanctified.

To be sanctified by the Holy Ghost, is te be purified by the Holy Ghost — Acts 15:8, 9. Salvation consists in recieving the Holy Ghost. — Acts 11:14, 15.

Who shall tell the words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved. And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Hence to he saved is to be a temple of the Holy Ghost. What! know ye not that your bodies are the temples of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? — 1 Cor. 6:17.

The pretended ministers of the babylonians who teach justification only, and that it is the extent of Gospel salvation in this life, is a blind leader of the blind and shall both fall into the ditch, because they come short of the will of God. Paul teaches that justification is a necessary work preparatory to and preceeding the work of salvation that enables us to stand. Therefore, which is, by being justified by faith and at peace, we have access to salvation. — Rom. 5:1, 2. Again, except ye be converted and become as little children, ye cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven. — Matt. 18:3. Making justification requisite or necessary before we can be ready to enter the Kingdom.

Glory to God for the true light that now shineth, and shineth in my soul. If our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost. Having received the end of our faith, even the salvation of our souls. — 1 Pet. 1:9. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. — 1 John 2 20, 27. These things have I spoken unto you, that your joy might remain in you, that your joy might be full. — John 15:11. That ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. — Col. 1:9. Finally brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.

Dear Saints in the Lord — I feel led by the Spirit to write to the TRUMPET. I am sweetly resting on my blessed Savior’s breast. I started in this good cause about eleven months ago, and expect to let my light shine for sinners to see the way pray for me, for my fight was hard till I was sanctified; I was sanctified about a month ago, and have been happy ever since. Dear saints I ask an interest in your prayers for the healing of my mother, Mary E. Harp of Cedar Vale, Kan, of bodily afflictions; she is enjoying her self well spiritually, and I believe she can be healed. Your sister saved in Christ; pray for me.

Dear Brethren: — This morning finds me saved and with victory in my soul, for which I praise our God. As I read the testimonies in the TRUMPET it fills my soul with glory. I have taken the paper for over four years, and it is just as welcome now as at first. I can hardly wait two weeks for it to come.

I praise God for this wonderful salvation that saves me from all sin. Glory to Jesus’ name!

Dear saints, I must give you a little of my past experience. The devil is so shrewd in his devices that I got to doubting my experience by looking at crooked and perverse professors, and got my eyes away from Jesus, and in a little while I became lean in my soul, and got so I could neither testify nor pray. The devil just lulled me to sleep; but praise God for victory over the devil and his works. I was in that easy state for over four weeks. I had no desire to get saved, nor had no desire to do evil; I felt so easy. So you see what an awful condition I was in. Oh praise the Lord for deliverance from satan. If there are any dear ones in this condition I hope my testimony will do them good. About the last of February while on my way home from meeting, I began to see what slippery ground I stood upon; and as I knelt with my companion in prayer that evening, I gave myself up to God again; and on Friday evening I went to meeting and there I was sanctified to do the will of God once more; oh praise God for ever and ever! Amen!

Now I am determined by the help of God to pay my vows unto the Lord in the presence of all His people. O I love the Lord because “He hath heard my voice and my supplication: because He hath inclined His ear unto me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live.” O glory be to Jesus for this blessed evening light.

I did not think I was so dead to my brother in the flesh, until one evening, one came in whom I had not seen for fifteen years. Of course I love him but not the way I used to; he is a very strong adventist and I believe he is honest, but oh he is so blind spiritually. He has been an adventist for over twenty-five years, and when he commenced talking to me, oh what victory came in my soul. Dear brethren I am dead to the adventist and all other ists and isms. Although I believe God has a people among them, but He says: “Come out from among them and be ye seperate and I will receive you.” But I tell you the Adventist devil is a bad devil to get rid of, but glory to God, I am dead to it. Oh glory be to the Most High God who giveth us the victory through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” To all who hold to Adventism please read your Bible and you will find that Jesus came to do away with the old covenant, and He must establish the new, that He might destroy all the works of the devil. God says in His Word, Every plant my heavenly Father hath not planted shall be rooted up,” and we all know that God never planted sin in our hearts: so it must be rooted up or we can never see God. Well I bless God for a present salvation that saves me just now. Glory to His holy name! The devil tries to make some believe that they can worship God better at home than to assemble together as the Scriptures teach. See how cunning the devil is: oh I have learned his ways. Glory to Jesus! I have the victory, and I know I am saved, sanctified and kept by the mighty hand of God. Pray for me.

Dearly Beloved Brethren: — I feel like writing my tesismony. I am still saved and walking in the light, as He is in the light; and He keeps me girded with His truth, and clothed with His righteousness, I am still standing on the solid Rock.

Glory be to God, for the precious blood that has been applied to my heart, and washed my sins away. He makes me to sit in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, with perfect victory in my soul. I want the prayers of God’s little ones, that I ever be kept faithful to the end. The grace of our Lord be with you all. Amen!

To all the dear Saints of God. I feel it would please the Lord, for me to write my testimony. I can say that I am saved to the uttermost and sanctified wholly.

Glory to Jesus! I am only ten years of age but I know that my Redeemer lives and keeps me continually trusting in Him. I know better than any thing else that I am saved through and through and kept by His mighty power. Praise the Lord! I am your little sister in Christ.

Dear Brethren — Grace, mercy and peace, be multiplied unto you through Jesus Christ our Lord. My testimony this day is, that I am sweetly saved in Jesus, and kept by the mighty power of God. Praise His holy name forever! I am walking in the light as He is in the light. I praise His holy name that He ever brought me out of babylonish darkness and sectish confusion. I attended the last meeting the saints held at Farrah’s grove; while there, I was fully convinced, that notwithstanding I had been professing christianity for over fifty years in babylon, but when I received the truth as it is in Jesus, the Lord commenced clearing out the old temple and very soon I saw that to be pure as Christ is pure meant something more than I had hitherto understood it to mean. I then began to talk about our church viz. the M. E’s. making more infidels than Bob Ingersoll; the sect brought charges against me and others, hut in my case they utterly failed for dissension; they showed as much animosity and malicious venom as though God’s name was not to be mentioned in any other way than in blasphemy. But when the trial was over and I out of babylon, I gave up my filthy habits, and wife and I determined to serve the Lord in the beauty of holiness. I went to the Lord with my tobacco and as I put it from me I asked Him to destroy all appetite for it and He did, then and there cleanse me from all filthiness of the flesh; and now I am walking on the King’s highway of holiness with glory in my soul. My sweet, gentle, companion in life has left me alone in this world: but I thank God to know that my loss is her infinite gain. Oh brethren pray for me, that I may meet all the dear saints on the ever green shore. Your Bro. in Christ.

THE EMPHATIC DIAGLOTT.

—:o:—

This is the most valuable help to the study of the New Testament that we know of. We have used it for about sixteen years, and never wish to be long without it with us. It contains the Greek Alphabet, with the name and sound of each letter given in English, and some directions by means of which a person can learn to read the Greek New Testament sufficiently well to get a knowledge of the truth as contained in the original language in which it was written. Each page contains two columns, the first of which is the pure Greek text of the New Testament, and directly under each word the English rendering. The other translation in the correct English form. It translates the word baptism, into plain English, namely, immersion, and some other words that were left untranslated in the common version. Like all sectarian translating, the work cannot he implicidly relied upon on points that involve the special doctrines of the authors sect. Hence in such Scriptures as teach that the kingdom of God is set up, and that we have an immortal soul, the translator shows some disposition to cover the truth. In Matt. 3, John 1, and elsewhere where long James’ translators have, through sect bias put “with water,” etc. The Emphatic and several other versions correctly render it, “in water,” “in the Holy Spirit.”

We have been recommending this work to the ministers and saints generally, and many have expressed a desire that we should procure the book so as to enable them to order it at this Office. We are happy to announce that we have secured the book from the publishers at a good percentage, and are able to furnish them lower than the regular prices, which, in two different styles of binding, are, $4.00 and $5.00. The same we can furnish at $3.25, and $4.00. When ordered by mail, we pay postage. A small profit will also be given to ministers and brethren who wish to sell the book.

NEWS FROM THE FIELD.

—:o:—

VISITING THE CHURCHES

—:o:—

SABBATH Apr. 29, Brethren took our company and nearly all the TRUMPET family out to the Log Bethel at Bro. Johnsons, where we had a joyful meeting with many dear saints. O, how our hearts were made to rejoice in our God for the privilege of greeting the holy saints of the Living God, from whom we had been so long separated by distance, and yet we had beer with them in the Spirit, joying, and beholding their order and the steadfastness of their faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. O, glory be to Jesus for the joy of holy fellowship in the Spirit of God! After talking to the people sometime and about fifty testimonies, two souls came to the altar and found God ready to save them. O, praise the Lord! In the evening we met in the saints house of worship at dear Bro. Joseph Smith’s, where we had another glorious meeting: several consecrated to the Lord. The next week following we went to Beaver Dam, Ind. to see the beloved saints and our dear son Sydney. Glory be to Jesus! How our hearts were blessed of God, in looking in the face of the dear loved ones from whom we had been so long separated. O thank God for this holy love that burns in the Holy Church of the Living God.

God pity the cold dead regions of Babylon, where the real love of God is unknown. Sectish religion and antichrist Quakerists, New Testament holiness and ordinance opposers, know nothing of the realms of the heavenly Jerusalem. We were happy to meet our much loved brothers Kilpatrick and Speck, with all the fire baptized hosts of God, at this place. These two messengers of the Lord Jesus Christ have been laboring together nearly all the last year; and much people have been added to the Lord through their faithful efforts in the Spirit of God.

Had a general meeting been arranged at some central place we should have been blessed with the privilege of greeting many more of the holy happy people. But a meeting had been appointed at Silver Lake in a large hall; where we spake to many hearers Saturday evening and Sabbath morning, May 5, 6. Sabbath after preaching, sixty-seven saints testified to full salvation through the precious blood of Christ. Glory to Jesus for the mighty cloud of witnesses! Brothers Kilpatrick and Speck held some meetings here last winter, and the truth has taken root in some hearts, and is bringing fruits of peace: and there are many friends of the truth as it is in Christ Jesus.

Thursday, May 8, accompanied by our dear Sidney, we came to Grovertown, Stark Co. Ind. Praise God! we found a little company here yet standing firm for God, and having good meetings three times per week. Here we held meeting about one week a little over a year ago. Some honest hearts embraced the Lord Jesus, as a complete Savior, in the midst of the raging storms of sectarian persecution and base assaults. Glory be to Jesus, some are yet praising God for complete victory. Some of the faithful servants of the Most High God came over from Walkerton Ind., and we shouted together the praises of Him who redeemed us. The next day we came on to Walkerton where we met dear Bro. Speck again, he having left Beaver Dam to make a short visit in Mich. Praise God! that night we had a very precious meeting at the house of dear Bro. and sister Benj. Myers. The glory of God filled the place. We spake again the Word of the Lord unto them, “Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.” — Acts 14:22. Two souls were restored unto the joyful salvation that is in Christ Jesus. The next day dear Bro. Speck and ourself visited some of the families of the saints in town, when we had the joyful privilege of seeing another dear soul return to Christ, and find peace and pardon. May God seal him with the mighty baptism of the Holy Spirit, and make him a pillar in the temple of God to go no more out for ever. O this wretched backsliding. It is utterly good for nothing. There is no need in the world of it. If a soul does not make up his or her mind to stand fast in the Lord, and serve Him through all coming lime and eternity, at the loss of all things, and in spite of all devils and wicked men, that soul had better not make a profession of Christ at all. What is the use to let tribulation, or distress, peril, want or persecution drive you back from Christ Jesus. If you did not expect the devil to do his best against you, you certainly was very foolish. And if you did, why back down when you have a little trial or temptation to pass through? O ye dear souls who have been up and down, be ashamed of your abominable babyish stumbling and get eternally fixed on the Rock, Christ Jesus. You know the grace of God is sufficient to keep you pure and free from sin every moment and every second, regardless of all that the gates of hell can do, why not then let God keep you for ever true, and faithful, and saved?

East Jorden, Mich.

To all the blessed Saints of God everywhere, greeting: — We are saved and rejoicing in Christ Jesus our Lord, who giveth us the victory at all times. Bless His name for ever!

After we left Dwight; we went to the little village of Ironton and held meeting for one week. There was a great interest manifest and the people wished us to remain and continue the meeting; but the hall was so cold that it was impossible to continue, but we promised them that in the future we would give them a meeting. There are a few brethren here who stand clear from dragon power and will not unite with the sects, and who have a glorious experience in this blessed salvation of our Lord. We pray the God of all grace to keep them free and saved in Jesus, for Christ’s sake. Amen!

On Lord’s day we met for prayer meeting, and O hallelujah, how the Lord did baptize us with the Spirit’s power, until the noise of the shouting was heard afar off. Hallelujah! Many hardened sinners set and wept, but would not yield to the blessed Savior. Four souls consecrated their all to Jesus, and received the witness of the Spirit to their acceptance of God. The sects are terribly stirred up in this place, and do all that they can against the holy way; but God is with His people. The priests of the M. E. and Congregation. al sects changed pulpits one Lord’s day and poured out their wrath upon us and the holy way: also upon the Church of the Living God; claiming that the Scriptures did not set forth Christ as the Church; also claimed that no where in holy writ it could be found. O ye blinded priests of baal, how can you help but see how you are dishonering Christ, and setting the blessed Savior at naught, and hiding Him from the world, and lifting up your own abominable creeds. Hallelujah to God! Many of their followers saw the light of the Gospel and endorsed it. God help them to walk in the light in spite of their rage. The last meeting we held there, about thirty sinners desired an interest in the prayers of God’s people that they might be saved. God bless and save them eternally for Jesus’ sake. Amen!

We shall visit this place again in the fall if the Lord wills. From Ironton we went to the Shetrow school house, where we held meetings a year ago, and we found a goodly number standing fast in the Lord; they had kept up the prayer meeting during our absence. We found a good interest among the people and the salvation work began on the start; we continued here about two weeks, during which time there were thirty consecrations in all.

Page 3

Fourteen dear souls came home to God from wandering in the path of sin, and testified that their sins were forgiven. God bless and keep them for ever. Amen!

On May 8, we met with the little Church at Wilson and followed the Savior’s commands in washing the saints feet and breaking of bread. O what a holy sitting together in heavenly places. The Holy Ghost came down in mighty power and fell upon us and set our hearts all ablaze. God bless this little band of holy workers for Jesus’ sake. There has been two converted in their prayer meetings since we left here last winter. We feel that there is a great harvest of souls for the Lord here in the near future.

We shall start homeward tomorrow, the Lord willing. O our hearts are filled with joy at the thought of greeting the dear ones face to face, whom we know in the Lord Jesus. God keep us all faithful unto the end that we may have right to the tree of life and enter through the gate into the city where we shall meet to part no more.

“O how sweet will be the greeting,
Where our parting will be o’er.”

Dear saints, remember us when you pray that we may be kept humble and faithful to the end.

Dear Brethren: — May God bless the Elders, Deacons, Evangelists and all the congregations every where assembled in the name of Jesus. May you be filled with all love, wisdom, faith and the Holy Ghost. May your faith grow exceedingly; love and peace be multiplied; stand fast in the liberty where with Christ hath made yon free. Amen!

Once more at home after an absence of three weeks, visiting several places where we had been before; some new places where this blessed evening light had not shone into their hearts. O how we do praise God for the light that shines in these latter days of time. Hallelujah! Jesus wonderfully saves and keeps us by power divine.

We expect soon to begin Tabernacle meeting at Altamont, Labett Co. Kan.. This is a new place where the true light has not shined. All saints pray for us here. Your free Bro.

To all the Saints of the Most High God, greeting: — Grace, mercy and peace be multiplied. Amen!

We have just closed a nine days meeting at Eldorado Springs with victory and glory in our souls. We drove into this place April 20, and found a home with dear Bro. Jerome. He secured the Baptist meeting house for us to hold meeting in; we began to preach the pure Word of God, and soon had a crowded house of anxious listeners, but prejudice ran very high and as the Lord began to pour out His mighty power in conviction, the enemy was busy at work in every way he could conceive of to overthrow the interest that was being manifest; but the Lord overruled it all to His glory, and there were some converted and six sanctified. We found quite a number of saints scattered through that town, and we gathered them together and they were strengthened: they were not holding any meeting of their own and most of them were away back in the rear, but they rejoiced to be gathered up, and now they are having their own meetings. The work that has been done in this part of the country has not been radical. Some of them are anti-ordinance, and the most of those who are left are very tender footed on that subject.

Eldorado Springs is a town of near four thousand inhabitants and is flooded with people who come there to drink the mineral water for their health. Glory be to the Most High God, He planted holiness there to stay. We left many hungry souls there enquiring for the truth. If the Lord leads, we may go back there soon. We expect to go to Osceola next. Yours in full salvation. Hallelujah!

Dear Brethren: — May the grace of God be with you. Amen! My wife and I left home May 4, for Orchard Grove, and began meeting the same night in the name of the Lord. There are no saints here except Sister Henderson who is full of the love of God; but they paid very good attention to the word as we poured it forth up-

on them. The Lord did wonderfully speak through us and filled our hearts with the glory of God. It is easy to leap and shout His praises amidst the darkness and gloom, for the Spirit showed me the awful, darkness the people were in; O, may God help them to receive the Word and walk therein. Praise God! we will preach the Word with boldness and spare not to declare the whole counsel of God. I do not know how long the Lord will use us here, but will stay until the Spirit leads us elsewhere; and any one desiring help, we will be at liberty as soon as we finish here. Your Bro. saved from sin and sanctified.

Dearly Beloved Brethren: – Grace and peace be multiplied unto you. We came from Gratiot Co. Mich. to Stanton, that is the Lord and I, for I have been working alone largely this Winter, as far as human coworkers are concerned; but the Lord has been every thing to me: a sympathizing friend, a help in trouble, and a source of inexhaustable strength. He has revealed wonderful things to me; like a man who is an agent for a great rich man, so the Lord has made me a confidential agent for Him. If any disagreeable work was to be done, rooting up or standing against the elements of satan in high places, the firm and I had a mutual understanding together and the Lord trusted me as having an eye single to the best interests of the work, and confirmed my judgment against, all opposition.

There was one sister who was out pretty straight for God; the Lord added a few more souls and established a Church in Stanton, who will hold their regular meeting. I pray the Lord who has begun the work to also finish it, and to preserve His little flock blameless until His coming.

One sister baptized before I took the train Monday morning. Your humble saved Bro.

Grand Junction, Mich.

To all the Saints of the Living God: — We are happy to report to you through the GOSPEL TRUMPET, that the meeting held in Clark Co. O. in April, at the Black Horse school-house, was a success in the Lord.

Our coming into the neighborhood with the everlasting Gospel to preach to the people by the Holy Ghost sent down from Heaven, was the first time the true light was held up by God’s holy men, out of all sectism.

Thank God! when we came there we found our dear Bro. Jesse Mc. Karlin in the light, and out of sect babylon; working against sin, and also distributing the GOSPEL TRUMPET to those whom he thought would read it. Hallelujah to Jesus! We found a few that were willing to hear the truth, and accept it with all their heart; and take a final leap out of all babylon, and testify that they were ready for all the assaults of the devil, and sectarians.

Some of the Mennonite sect, who processed to be holy in the Lord, were willing to believe what ungodly persons told them, (lies of course) and would not come to the meeting and hear for themselves, whether the things they heard were so or not. God have mercy on those who claim to be sanctified by the blood and Spirit of God, and allow the devil to lead them astray by evil reports. All such are more or less deceived of the devil, and on the broad road to hell with all the nations that forget God.

Since we left there we received a precious letter from Bro. J. McFarlin, stating the little prayer meetings they hold in the name of the Lord, are real refreshing to their souls. God bless them, and keep them firm through Christ in the truth.

I am your brother in the Kingdom of Christ, sanctified wholly by the blood of the Lamb.

Carthage, Mo.

Dear Trumpet readers: — I am glad this morning that I am saved, and have the privilege of writing my testimony for Jesus. I am glad God ever showed me my sins, and unless I repented of them, I would be eternally lost. I have lived a justified, and sanctified life ever since last December. I am a little girl only twelve years old; but I thank God that He ever said: “Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the Kingdom of heaven.” I am determined by the grace of God to spend the rest of my days serving Him, and then wear a crown with my blessed Father which is in Heaven. Jesus says unless we are horn of God we cannot enter into the Kingdom, which He has prepared for His children. I know my robes are whiter than the driven snow; and I am ready to meet God when He comes; He is coming shortly according to His Word, and will take vengeance on the wicked and them that know not God.

O I praise God that I am not one of those wicked ones, who shall cry for the rocks and mountains to hide them from God. Praise the Lord! I am glad the world does not know me, because it knew Him not. If the world loved me, I would know then that I was not of God; for the world would love its own. The Lord Jesus Christ has taken me out of this world, and placed my feet on the Solid Rock.

“On Christ the Solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.”

Praise God for His saving, and keeping power, and also His healing power. Although I am young, dear saints I know what afflictions are. I have been afflicted ever since the 2nd day of March; have not entirely been able to wait on myself. But I praise God that Jesus has neither left me nor forsaken me. Glory to the Lamb forever!

I had five different diseases, and no doctor on this earth could have ever reached my case. But praise God, there is a great Physician always near, to heal His children of all their diseases. The Lord had to bring me to death’s door, to bring my oldest brother into the fold of Christ. He was on the broad road that leads to destruction; but I thank God that He ever made me suffer, to bring that dear brother to Jesus. He went away last winter up in Iowa when Bro. Haner was here, just because he was convicted of his sins. Oh I praise God that we are all saved now, and on that narrow road that leads to life everlasting.

I know this morning I am healed both soul and body. Although I feel weak in the flesh, yet I feel strong in the power of Jesus. I want all the dear saints to pray for me, that I may let my light shine, and tell others of this wonderful salvation that saves me from all the sins of this world. The devil is going around through the world seeking whom he may devour, especially the lambs of the flock. I am saved and sanctified wholly, to do the Lord’s will. Your little sister in Christ.

Dear Saints: — Lift up your hearts and voices unto the Lord your God, and bless His holy name. O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good, because His mercy endureth forever. Let Israel now say that His mercy endureth forever. Let the house of Aaron say that His mercy endureth forever. Let them now say, that fear the Lord, that His mercy endureth forever. I called upon Him in distress, and He answered me, and set me in a large place. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear what man can do unto me. The Lord taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. — Psalm 118:1-8.

I do praise God for His love that burns in my heart at this moment, and causes me to utter this beautiful Psalm. I rejoice to tell the dear ones I am still trusting the Lord, and can see His glory more and more each day of my life.

I ask you all to pray for me that I may be kept low at the feet of Jesus. Your sister saved, and tried by the devil, but kept by the power of God.

Dear Brethren: — I feel led of the Lord to write my testimony. To day finds me saved and the fire burning in my soul, while I write these lines. I was wholly sanctified nineteen years ago last Feb. Glory to God and the Lamb forever and ever! for a number of years I had very little food, being in the sects. Four years ago I was led to come out; this was a hard struggle for me as I thought I might probably backslide, for I did not fully understand what the true Church was. But through the teachings of my dear boy and others, I now understand and have the witness in my soul that my name is written in Heaven in the Lamb’s book of life, and I feel perfect in Christ Jesus. Glory to God and the Lamb forever and ever. And I can say to the glory of God that I was healed at the Chanute camp meeting last Ang.. While others were presenting themselves for healing, I was convicted for healing, as I had been a great sufferer at times for twenty three years, of Catarrh, Bronchitis and weakness of the eyes. I felt the power over my body and I knew the work was done, for which I give God all the glory. I have had such good health most of the time, that I feel as if I were getting young again; I am in my fifty fourth year and will not have long to wait until the Lord calls for me. Pray for me dear saints that I may be found watching and waiting when the Lord shall come.

Dear Brethren — I do praise God for this privilege we have of reading the TRUMPET and to learn of the glorious work going on in so many places. Dearly beloved Saints, Greeting: — I feel led to tell what the Lord has done for me and some of my family. Since I have been saved from all sin, the Lord has wonderfully blessed me in the healing of my daughter, who had spasms. She had been sick about four years and the last year she had been in bed most of the time and physicians could not help her; but the Lord has healed her body and saved her soul: she is 11 years old. I saw a letter in the TRUMPET from a dear sister, requesting the prayers of the saints, for her daughter, who had spasms. I would say to that sister, remember the word says “the prayer of faith shall save the sick and the Lord shall raise him up” James 5:15. Then have faith in the Lord and whatsoever ye ask ye shall receive. Pray for me that I may stand firm doing the will of God in all things. Your sister saved and kept by the mighty power of God.

Dear Saints of God: — I feel led to testify through the TRUMPET. Oh praise God for His wonderful saving power! He saves me completely and my trust is all in Jesus. Almost one year ago, God for Christ’s sake, pardoned all my sins and wonderfully healed my body, which had been afflicted for thirty seven years. I have had severe trials, but praise God, His Grace is sufficient for us if we trust Him. I am free from all men’s organizations and all given up to do God’s will, for He is all and in all to me. Pray for my companion.

“I’m a wonder unto many,

In my soul I’ve perfect vict’ry,
By His precious blood I’m bought.”

Dear Brethren: — I feel led to write my testimony for the TRUMPET, I praise God for the pure Gospel that has been preached in this place; O paise God, for a salvation that saves me from all sin. I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, not I but Christ liveth in me. O glory to Jesus for His love once delivered to the saints. I am out on the ocean of God’s love, and my trust is all in Him; He is my physician, for He has healed myself and children; O glory to His name! There are only a few saints in this place, pray earnestly for the work of God to continue in this place. I am saved, sanctified and kept by the power of God free from all sectism. Your sister.

Dear Brethren: — I can say that God owns and blesses me as one of His little ones. I am all the Lord’s and He is mine, and is with me in saving power, in preaching His Gospel to the up building of Zion. I do praise God for victory in my soul over all the works of the devil.

Well the Lord wants me to tell you what He is doing for us, and how He leads His little ones. Wife and I was led to go to Isabella Co. to hold a meeting. We obeyed the call, and went, and opened fire on the enemy two miles west of Dushville. Thirteen dear souls gave their hearts to God and was made happy in the Savior’s love. We closed on Sabbath night, and Monday night met at Bro. George Earls for an ordinance meeting; twenty three took part; had a good time waiting on the Lord. We went from there to Dushville and held a meeting; five persons gave their hearts to God. We had a Holy Ghost meeting. Next we went to the Russel school house about ten miles northwest, and five made a start to serve the Lord.

Sister Cora Pierce had hands laid on for the healing of her eyes. She has been so that she could not read without glasses for twelve years; but to-day is every whit whole, and giving God all the glory. She can see to read as well as any one.

Your brother wholly sanctified.

OBITUARIES.

—:o:—

Died in Hamilton, Apr. 27, of Congestive chill. Katie, daughter of Bro. and Sister Lammers; aged 14 yrs. 3 mo. 9 days. The funeral was held at Kimber’s hall the 30. Sister Katie was converted about the first of March; in the family circle at home, some time before her death she claimed her healing, by faith, from a disease contracted a few months before; but God saw fit to take her away. May this dispensation of God’s providence result in His glory. The Lord gives Bro. and Sister Lammers grace which lifts them above the trial.

Died, April 23, at Wheeler. Mich. Sister Sudella, daughter of Bro. and Sister Uriah Smith, aged 22 years 4 months and 12 days. Eudella lived without salvation until her physician gave her up to die; her father who had watched over her with much anxiety for her soul, pointed her to Jesus who died for her. She then gave her heart to the Lord, though her cause was plead with much anguish of soul yet it was not unheard and Christ forgave her sins. She then made a complete consecration and realized that Jesus is a satisfying portion; before she died she raised her hands and welcomed the Lord giving strong evidence in various ways that she had found the pearl of great price. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian house in Lafayette by the writer; Text — Matt. 24:44.

Della thou hast gone and left us;
Jesus took thee for His own,
But if we will walk with Jesus
We shall meet around His throne.

Father and mother faithful prove
Seek and do your Master’s will,
That you may gain the courts above,
Where with Della you shall dwell.

O, dear brother stop and listen.
Will you meet your sister there?
Will you strive to gain an entrance
Through the gate so bright and fair?

Hear the words of your dear sister
How she said she loved the Lord.
Though she loved her Savior dearly.
Yet His love for her, was more.

Dear Brethren: — I thought I would write my experience for the Trumpet. I belonged to the M. E. sect about ten years, but that body’s teachings did not lead me any farther than justification: it did not teach me sanctification so I went on serving God in a blind way, sinning and repenting, backsliding and returning to the fight again; did not think they or any other sect was worshiping God in the right way, but did not find any one to lead me into the light. Well about two months ago I moved into a neighborhood near where Bro. W. B. Grover was preaching; alter I had been there some time I was invited to go and hear him. While there I was taught that I must live without sin. I sought sanctification but did not obtain as clear a witness as I desired, but having made a complete consecration, I took Christ at His word and believed that I was sanctified. I went to an ordinance meeting March 27, at which about 30 of the saints took part; and as I was going through with the ordinance of feet washing the Holy Ghost came upon me in power and I was very happy, so much so that I was enabled to shout Glory to the Lord Jesus Christ; the Holy Spirit, came down upon the meeting and all were wonderfully blest. Well I expect by God’s grace to continue praising Him while I remain on this earth and to reign with Him forever in glory. May God bless the work, is the sincere prayer of your Bro. in Christ sanctified and saved by the blood of the Lamb.

Dear Brethren: — By the help of the Lord I shall tell you what He has done for us at I his place. Mar. 25, Bro. Whitcraft and others in the ministry stopped here while on their way home from a meeting which they held five miles N. W. of Waterloo. The brethren appointed a prayer meeting that evening, and had a glorious time; on the next day we secured the U. B. house and held meeting three nights, when the sect members became so enraged at the truth that they ordered the house closed. Well Praise God, they just shook the dust off their feet as a testimony against them. We continued the meeting in private houses until Sabbath evening Apr. 1, when the brethren felt they had done their duty. The result of the meeting was, two sanctified, one justified and the rest wonderfully encouraged. Sabbath evening we had a glorious ordinance meeting, after which an Elder and Deacon were ordained by the laying on of hands. God has a little Church here that will stand for the true principle and doctrine of Christ. May God ever bless Bro. Whitcraft and others who labored so earnestly while here with us; any of God’s ministers will find a home three miles east of AUBURN. Well I am saved from tobacco, sanctified and kept by power divine.

But thank God, I find His grace sufficient for me. Praise our God! In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Dear Brethren: — I thought I would write my testimony for the Trumpet, as I have fell it my duly to tell what the Lord has done for me. One year ago last fall, God for Christ’s sake forgave all my sins, and gave me the blessed witness that I was born of God, and this evening finds me still rejoicing in Jesus. Glory to His name! God has a little Church in this place, but I am sorry to say that the most of them have wandered away. It makes my heart ache to see so many that have lasted of the pure love of Christ, to turn aside from His commandments. But my determination is stronger than ever to serve my Maker until the end, for it is only those who endure unto the end that shall be saved. Dear saints we ask you all to pray for us that we may stand firm and complete in all the will of God. Your sister saved in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — I want to say to the glory of God that I am praising Him for a full and free salvation. Three months ago I was a poor lost sinner, and very badly afflicted in my body. I did not know what a friend I had in Jesus, until Sister Bolds came to my house and told me that Jesus could heal me soul and body. So I gave Him my heart and put my case in His hands, and God for Christ’s sake forgave my sins and did wonderfully heal my body. I had Brights disease and had been given up by the doctors as incurable, But Glory be to God, Jesus has cured me! that same week I was sanctified and now I have victory and glory in my soul. Hallelujah! Your sister in Jesus.

Dear Saints: — I feel like telling a little of my experience. Praise the Lord, for what He has done for myself and companion. When Bro. Warner and little band of saints came here and began preaching, I thought I would go and hear them through mere curiosity, and pick flaws in his doctrine, for I had heard he preached entire sanctification, which I thought was very absurd. So we went and I gave very close attention, and when he began to denounce the sects I thought he was judging where he had no right to, yet I must confess I thought he preached the word of God, and I became interested in the meetings. I began to examine the testament more closely as the meeting progressed, and I saw that he was confining himself closely to the Word of God, and although I was a sinner I was glad to hear God’s word proclaimed in its purity; and I could see that Bro. Warner was making it a little hot for me, and I began to plead with God, and ask Him to pardon my sins and Glory be to God, I was victorious. He has taken away all my earthly pleasures and has put a new song in my month, and now I sing praises to God and the Lamb. I can say that my Redeemer lives, and my sins are forgiven: yes God whispered sweet peace to my soul, and I am now dead to the filthy things of this world and free from sin. I shall devote my time to the Lord with all my mind, soul and body. Praise the Lord, for in Him is all my joy! Yes the water is smooth where my bark is gliding to day. Praise the Lord for salvation, and for the continuation of His presence with us. Though we are surrounded on all sides with opposition, by the help of God we feel able to surmount all difficulties, and stand up boldly for Jesus. God bless. Bro. Warner and his little band of saints; may our Heavenly Father shield and direct them wherever they may go. Pray for me brethren that I may be ever faithful.

Dear Brother Warner: — Peace be unto you. I feel led to write a few lines this morning, to say to the glory of God that I am well pleased with the TRUMPET. I had never seen it before, nor heard of it until last winter when I preached, and a stranger was in the meeting. After meeting was closed I went and talked to him. Be told me he was from Beaver Dam Ind. His name was Halderman. He told me about you, and I asked him to send me some of your TRUMPETS, which he did, and it was just the same doctrine I have been preaching. Justification by faith, sanctification by a full consecration upon the altar, and have the old man cast out: not bound, but destroyed; the heart washed and made clean in the blood of the Lamb. When God, for Christ’s sake, forgave my sins, all my transgressions were blotted out; but the old man, the carnal nature was yet in the flesh, and I had to make a full sacrifice of all to God, and he gave me a clean heart, and put His perfect law in my heart. Then the persecutions begun. I have been hated by false prophets: I was called one who come to turn the world up side down. But God was with me and helped me give out the truth of His Word. May God bless us all. I belonged to the sect called the Church of God; but she is as much a sect as the rest.

Dear Trumpet Readers: — I do not take the paper, but I have the privilege of reading it, and have received much light from it. I am a professing Christian, but do not think I am wholly sanctified: but my daily prayer to God is, that I may be all the Lord’s. I praise God for what I do enjoy of His blessings each day; and it there is more for me to enjoy of His love, I pray He will show it to me. I know He hears and answers prayer. I ask all the readers of the TRUMPET to pray for the I healing of my soul and body, that I may be made every whit whole. Your sister.

Dear Brethren: — I do praise God for full and free salvation He has wrought in my soul. I also praise Him for His wonderful healing power. I was not able to work half of my time; but praise the Lord He has healed me, and gave me, as it were a new body. I also have been blind in one eye for twenty years, and I dp praise His holy name that He has given me the sight of that eye, so I can see to read my Bible out of it. Well I give God all the glory, for He has done more for me than all the doctors could. I thank God for what I feel in my soul just now. Praise God! It is sweet to rest complete in Jesus. Glory to His name for ever! From your sister save d and kept by the mighty power of God, ready to be revealed in the last day.

Dear Readers; of the TRUMPET greetings. I feel it would be to God’s glory for me to write my testimony. I am saved by the precious blood of Jesus and I feel His love flowing through my soul. Glory be to Jesus forever and ever! When the Lord found me I was in a sinful condition, but glory be to God, He has raised me up to sit with Him in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus. I am more determined to stand for God, in spite of men and devils, than I ever was before. Glory to Jesus! I am your Bro. in Christ, sanctified wholly. Amen!

Dear Brethren: — I praise God that I am saved to the uttermost. O hallelujah! I am just willing to do God’s will at all times. I have had severe trials of sickness in the past year, but God is always ready to help His children when we call upon His name. O praise God for His goodness! I do feel at peace and rest in my soul this morning. Glory to God! I want to tell the TRUMPET readers that I have been sorely afflicted, but my whole trust being in Him who was almighty, I was raised up and made whole. Glory to God! We are having glorious meetings, the Lord being with us in mighty power. We have victory over all evil. Your sister saved and sanctified by the blood of Jesus. Amen!

Dear Brethren in Christ Jesus: — Feeling it to be our duty to let all the dear saints everywhere know what we are doing here for the Master. Four years this last March, a man by the name of S. Lindsey was sent for by some of the citizens of this place. He came and preached holiness, and about thirty-eight persons accepted the truth. But Lindsey failed to live to what he taught, and the people became discouraged with his actions, and nearly all fell back to their churches, and have left but a few of us; but we do not look to man for salvation, but to God only. We believe that if a child of God was to come and preach a few days for us, that it would do much good, as the churches are in trouble here now over their sect priests. We are but few in number, and poor, and cannot ask any one to come; but will ask the Lord to provide a way for some true child of God to come this way and set up the Church of the Firstborn in our midst.

We are praising God for His great goodness and mercy toward us continually, and for the glorious victory He has given us over satan. Glory be to His dear name who always gives us the victory when we trust in Him who is able to save to the uttermost. We have our home meetings morning and evening and Christ is always with us: we feel the Spirit continually. Dear saints pray that we may be kept low at the cross of Jesus, doing His blessed will. Your Bro. and sister in Christ, saved and sanctified.

I realize just now that the blood cleanses me from all sin and keeps me saved every moment, and my soul is all on fire for God. Hallelujah! I am out of babylon and it is out of me; I am free in Jesus and built in the true Church of God, and know my place in the Body of Christ: Amen! Praise the Lord! I have victory and glory in my soul. Your Bro. in Jesus.

To all the dear readers greeting: — This afternoon finds me saved and sanctified, made white and tried. I have had to go through some very fiery trials in the past two weeks, but I do praise God that I have come through without the smell of fire on my garments. Praise the Lord! the trial of our faith is more precious than gold. O hallelujah! I do realize that I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live: yet not I but Christ liveth in me. Praise the Lord for the real sweetness in my soul! The saints had an ordinance meeting at our house last night which was visited with Holy Ghost power. I do praise God for the victory I have in my soul over the world, the flesh and the devil, also over self. Praise God! I am saved from sectarianism. O hallelujah to God! Your sister under the blood. Amen!

Dearly beloved in the Lord, greeting: — O hallelujah to God! I am wonderfully saved and filled with the glory and power of God this evening. I do feel and realize that I am free in the Lord, and I fear nothing. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. — 1 John 4:18. O praise God for the perfect love in my soul! O I am so glad that as I look into my heart tins evening, in the light of the Holy Ghost, that I see the white stone in my heart. Hallelujah! the white stone that Jesus said He would give us with the new name upon it. Praise God! I am wonderfully saved, sanctified and filled with the victory, and power, and glory of God, wallring in white, and clothed in fine linen which is the righteousness of saints. Hallelujah!

Dear Saints: — I am praising God for the glorious opportunity of writing my testimony to the TRUMPET readers. Bless God for a salvation that saves to the uttermost. Glory be to God for the evidence I have in my soul that I am a child of the King; my Father is rich in houses and land, and some day our blessed Savior will come; we know not the hour, but we know He is coming again; and will we be ready and able to look upon Him in all His brightness and glory? or will we have to turn our backs upon Him and hear the doleful lementation, “depart from me ye that work iniquity, I never knew you?” O dear saints let us be ready to reign with Jesus when He comes in all His glory. I know this evening that I am saved, sanctified and kept by the power of God. Amen!

Dear Brethren: — We greet you once more in the name of King Jesus. We are at home laboring with our hands.

Praise the Lord, the work of the Lord is prospering here: there has been several reclaimed, brought back to the Lord. Some have gone on to perfection, and some have been born of God that use to fight the saints. Praise the living God for ever! we have been passing through the furnace of afflictions since we returned home. Our family was all sick but myself and Willie. The dear Lord has dealt wonderfully with us through our afflictions. He is our Physician and has treated each case with success. Glory be to Jesus. We are saved to the uttermost, sanctified wholly and “kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready, — glory to Jesus! — to be revealed in the last time.” We have proved the faithfulness of the dear Lord. First, to forgive our sins, see 1 Jno. 1:9. Second, to sanctify us wholly, see 1 These. 5:23, 24; and are proving his faithfulness every day, and hour and moment. Praise God! Your free Bro. and sister ready to rush to the battle where ever He leads.

Dear Brethren: — I am saved and out on the promises of God. Glory to Jesus! How I praise Him for what he has done for me; He has placed my feet on the solid Rock, Christ Jesus, and by the grace of God I mean to stand for Him though all this world be against me; I feel the mighty power of God all through my soul just now. Praise God, He has brought me out of the sect, and showed me the true light and I will praise the Lord for it as long as He gives me breath. O what a freedom to be out of babylon and in the true light of God. The Lord has healed me of the canker in my stomach: I have had it ever since I was thirteen years old, and I am fifty-one now, and I have spent two or three hundred dollars for doctors; but they did not do me any good. But praise God, when I gave up and said, The Lord’s will be done, He done a complete work in saving and healing me, and I just give God all the glory. Amen! Your sister in Christ.

Dear Brethren: — I do thank God that He has spared me to see this blessed Sabbath evening, and has led me to write my testimony to the TRUMPET, to ask all the dear saints to pray for me, that I may be healed and always be found trying to improve my talents. I have been having chills for about four months, and have tried to claim healing, but my faith is to weak. But I do praise God for His precious promises, for I know they are true. O pray for me that the Lord may bring me down where I can measure up to His true Word and be healed, and may obey His leadings at all times, and ever be found holding up the standard of the truth. O praise the Lord for what He has done for me! I do want to be entirely stripped of all self, so I can let patience have its perfect work, and ever live straight for God. Dear brethren, pray for me. Your brother trusting in Jesus.

Dear Brethren: — I am still praising God for full and free salvation that keeps me from all sin. O praise the Lord that I am trusting Him and He is making a way through all my trials and temptations. With a shout of joy I upward run, for I have left the weary wilderness and have entered into holiness through the blood of the Lamb. Praise the Lord! I desire the prayers of God’s people, (for the prayers of the righteous availeth much) that I may grow up into Him, my living head; that when He comes to call me home, I may pass away in the triumph of living faith. O praise His holy name! Your sister under the blood.

Dear Saints of God: — We are saved, and settled, and have the peace that passeth all understanding. The enemy within that troubled us, is driven away, and cannot come back so long as we trust God and obey Him.

Now dear brethren, pray for us that we be not as seed by the way side, which the fowls picked up; nor like that which falls among thorns and gels choked out; but that we may know the will of God and do it, Pray for us that we give sin no consideration, not for a moment; but that we reject evil the moment we see it, and that we watch to see what is the will of God and always do it. O that one soul may always have the perfect peace of God, for no evil can take away our crown. If we sin, God’s wrath and displeasure will be poured out upon us. God’s punishment is great to those who sin.

Your Bro. standing on the Rock and partaking of God’s goodness.

Dear Trumpet readers: — I praise the Lord this evening for full, free and perfect salvation. Though I have not yet obtained all God has for me, BUT BY THE GRACE OF ALMIGHTY GOD I WILL HAVE IT ALL. I am very decided for the Lord. I do praise God that He has not forsaken me, nor left me alone in this wicked sodom. I do praise God for His Spirit to lead us in the way of all truth and righteousness; and I do know He keeps me from sin every moment. O dear saints do pray earnestly, that I may ever be filled with the sweet, holy, Heavenly love of God the Father.

Your Bro. saved and kept by the power of God.
